Dom wasn’t normally one to get super excited about a date. She’d dress up and make sure she looked nice, of course, but apart from that she was in it for whatever fun she could get out of it. However, the New Year’s party that Joe invited her to several weeks ago was finally here and she couldn’t wait. She’d spent the better part of the afternoon choosing what to wear and using magic to make sure she looked as cute as she could for it. Even though Joe said it wasn’t too big of a deal what she wore, she was kind of curious to see if she could surprise him. Her dress was floor-length and black, with silver embroidery on the top. It was formal, but not overly so, and definitely not formal enough that it would keep her from having fun. Her hair was curled, but down, just the way she preferred it, with her makeup done to perfection. Dom was ready to have some fun. She stood in front of her mirror as she waited for it to be 9:00 in New York. She held the invitation he’d delivered to her in person, waiting for the portkey to work as soon as the time was right. Dom was all ready to have an evening of fun and flirting with the most interesting American she’d met so far. Finally, she felt the familiar jerking sensation and knew she was off. She landed gracefully in some sort of courtyard and looked around herself, eyes widening when she saw the mansion in front of her. Joe lived here? She gave a small laugh and started making her way to the mansion, curious to see more. Was Joe waiting for her inside? @joseph Dom's Dress

New Years Eve, 2024 New York City It wasn't often that Joe got nervous for anything. Usually he was overbearingly cocky and confident about just about everything he did, even if it was all just a facade to make people believe it. Tonight, he was particularly nervous because he had a date to his families New Years Eve party. Joe and Dom had been getting close the past couple of months. He really enjoyed her company and found her very attractive. She was the kind of girl that didn't let him get away with anything, she always kept him on his toes, which he really liked. Her confidence was what won him over when they bumped into each other at Hogsmeade for the first time.
Joe was standing in the dining room, frequently peering out the large window to see who arrived by the designated portkey; the party goers were arriving in the gardens of the mansion that were blanketed in white sparkling party lights. It wasn't long until Dom appeared. Instantly, he scurried out the back door, hoping that no one noticed how excited he truly was to see her. Joe hadn't seen Dom since the day she left during the attack of the dragons, but they had exchanged an owl or two to make sure the other made it home safe.
Before he emerged from the other side of the courtyard to greet the redhead, Joe straightened his tie and ran a hand through his hair before making his appearance. As soon as he saw Dom, a grin started to spread across his face, green eyes flickering with delight from her getup. She looked amazing. "Wooow! Cheee-ooww!" he hollered like some sort of hype man, cupping his hands around his mouth to amplify his voice. Joe took a couple of quick steps to close the distance between them and offered her a tight embrace. "Someone cleans up nice." he teased, before smiling, "You look amazing, thank you for coming."

There was no denying the fact that this place was beautiful. There were sparkling lights all over, which shimmered on the nearby snow. Of course, there were several paths through the snow that led to the mansion so one didn't have to trudge through it, but Dom still couldn't help but admire the shimmering of the lights off of the snow. It was magical, which was probably the effect they were going for. Dom was starting to wonder if this was even more fancy than the Yule Ball she'd attended last year. Maybe she should have dressed in something much more formal. Then again, Dom wasn't one to really worry about what she wore.
Dom's attention was immediately arrested when she heard a familiar voice shouting "wow". She turned to face it, unable to help the grin that covered her face when she saw Joe. He was being ridiculous, probably on purpose, but she didn't mind. It was actually quite flattering. Dom rolled her eyes as he approached, then hugged him back when he reached her. "Why do you sound surprised?" she asked, smirking and cocking her head to the side playfully. "Thank you for inviting me." Dom gestured around them, "This place looks amazing. Do you really live here or did your family rent out the place for the party?" She was partially teasing him, but not at the same time. Dom reached forward, looping her hand around his arm, expecting him to lead her to the mansion now. After all, it was still cold outside, even though it was beautiful.

New Years Eve, 2024 New York City Joe released Dom, planting a soft kiss on her cheek as they parted, "Not surprised, just happy with the outcome." Joe stated with a laugh, taking her arm in his eagerly to lead the way inside away from the cold. She made a playful comment about his family renting their space for the night and he chuckled quite a bit. "Thank you, that would actually be a great rumor." he told her with an approving nod, before answering her first question with a smile. "I live here with my mom, dad, sister, and brother. I have an older brother too but he's moved out already." Joe told her as a matter of fact. The Fontaine's had been living there for as far back as he could remember, the they had always been stupid rich. "Lets go inside to make everyone jealous since the prettiest lady has arrived." he offered a hand to help her up stairs so she wouldn't fall down in her fancy dress, because he could be a gentleman when he tried.

As he pulled back from the hug, kissing her cheek and reassuring her, Dom grinned. "Oooh, someone has their charm out in full force tonight. Looks like I need to be careful," she teased. Obviously what she really wanted was to have fun with Joe, not to worry about being careful about anything. Dom laughed when he thanked her, saying it would be a great rumor. Did he think she'd heard rumors about this place or something? He explained about the mansion and his family a bit more and Dom shook her head, looking up at the house, a bit in awe though she hoped it didn't show too much. "So five of you live here? What do you do with all the extra rooms?" she asked, nudging him with her elbow to show she was teasing. Partly. "How old is your older brother?" Dom added after a moment. She'd thought Joe was the oldest.
He moved to help her up the stairs, saying they should go inside since she'd arrived and Dom smirked. "All right, but you need to be prepared to fend off any guys that get too jealous," she teased. Dom could take care of herself, but she was interested to see how Joe would treat her in a big group setting. Most of the times they'd done things before they were alone. This was entirely different.

New Years Eve, 2024 New York CityJoe couldn't surpass a chuckle when Dom teased him about being a gentleman and needing to be careful. Dom seemed a little surprised but she was most likely joking. The corners of his lips curled upwards, "Well, it's easy to do when I have a special lady to impress..." he said with a confident smile. Joe chuckled when she asked about the other rooms, knowing that she was joking. "Home offices and entertainment rooms, mostly." He answered honestly. He had a list of clever responses, but she followed by asking about his brother. He shrugged lazily but answered in a more conversational tone, he was proud of his older brother for his achievements. "His name is James. He's two years older than me and the biggest nerd of the family. We don't really see him much because he's training to be an Auror." he said, before shooting her a cocky smile and eyebrow waggle, "But you can trust that you're paired with the best looking Fontaine brother tonight." he joked with a tone oiled with sarcasm, though he totally meant it.
The redhead made a joke about him being prepared to fend off any jealous guys. "Would love to see them try.." he winked, comically clutching her arm in his dramatically before releasing the grip slightly. She wasn't a possession to him, but she was his date, so he'd try to make her feel secure in a group setting. If for any reason she pushed him away, or didn't seem to like it, he'd ease off. It was fun to have a date though, especially because they were both just looking to have a good time.
As they stepped into the grand entrance, the place was bustling with happy faces and entertainers. "This is the main room." he gestured with a hand, allowing her to take it in. "Would you like a drink?"

Dom chuckled at Joe's words, "Mr. Fontaine ... I'd say that flattery won't get you anywhere with me, but I'd be lying. You're doing amazing so far." She winked at him, already having a blast, which was definitely a good sign. She didn't expect anything else, since she already knew that Joe was easy to talk to and be around. Dom was excited to spend the evening with him though. "Entertainment rooms? Continue," she encouraged. What, did they have a bowling alley and a theater in their house? She wouldn't be surprised. She nodded as he explained about his brother, James the Auror-to-be. "Sounds like a fun guy, though I doubt he could beat you at being fun," Dom flirted, squeezing his arm a little as she smiled up at him. "Is he here tonight? Maybe you could point him out." Mostly because she was curious, but Dom didn't have to explain.
She laughed when Joe teased her right back, saying he'd love to see anyone try to take her away. "I guess I don't have anything to worry about there then." Not that she was worried to begin with. Dom wasn't the kind of girl to let others pull her around. If she wanted to spend her time with Joe, she wouldn't let anyone get in her way.
Her eyes widened when they reached the entrance. "This ..." Dom trailed off, not knowing what to say. The room looked amazing, like it was a scene from a moving or something. She stared, her eyes scanning the room and taking in every detail. She definitely liked this kind of a room. She looked back at him. "You just wanted to see the look on my face when I walked in here, didn't you? That's why you came to find me," she accused lightly. "Yeah, a drink would be nice," Dom said, laughing and shaking her head slightly. She couldn't believe how nice this place was.

New Years Eve, 2024 New York City "Flattering you is part of the fun though." he grinned, walking beside her as they weaved through people. When Dom asked if his brother would be around, he shrugged his shoulders with uncertainty, "I'm actually not sure. If I see him I'll point him out. My sister and younger brother are here though, you can meet them." he told her with a smile. He hoped he wouldn't regret that later with Ashley, they seemed to be on each others good side tonight.
Joe smiled when the redhead said that she had nothing to worry about then. He bobbed his head up and down in serious agreement, shooting her a charming smile in the process, "The only thing you need to worry about is having fun." he told her, grabbing her hand to spin her toward him to nuzzle into her neck flirtatiously. He didn't kiss her, yet, he made it work with the music that was playing from the live band. "I figured if I met you out front I'd get to spend more time with you." Joe admitted to her, smiling softly as his hand rested on her waist. He knew he was being a bit touchy feely, but it was nothing overboard, at least not from how he'd usually act with Dom. They both seemed to enjoy the physical contact. Plus, upon meeting Dom, she showed him that confidence would go a long way with the young woman.
She agreed to a drink and he nodded his head politely, "Here in America the drinking age is 21, so we're basically breaking the law which makes it more fun." he informed playfully, his tone oiled with comical sarcasm. His eyes searched for the bartender who was walking around with a tray of already made fancy cocktails for the party. Joe wasn't sure what was in any of them, but he snagged the tray from the server with a smile. The server seemed happy to get rid of the tray, so it was a win-win situation. Joe extended the large tray of drinks to Dom like the queen that she was, "Your pick, m'lady." he laughed before genuinely offering, "Or there's like water, and non alcohol stuff too, whatever you want, I got you."

Joe was being a little sweeter than normal, which Dom actually enjoyed much more than she expected. She chuckled at his compliment, “Well, then I guess I won’t do anything to ruin your fun,” she flirted back at him. In all honesty, she was having way too much fun with Joe to want to ruin any of what was happening. She nodded when he said that he didn’t know whether or not his brother would come, squeezing his arm a little, “You can introduce me to whoever you want, as long as we can still have our fun.” She gave him a little wink to show that she was sure they’d have a good time no matter what, but baiting him was part of her fun too and she was enjoying it more than she probably should.
It was clear to her that Joe wanted to have as good a time as she did, with him telling her that she just needed to worry about having fun. Dom smirked, but before she could say anything he was spinning her and nuzzling into her neck. She couldn’t remember the last time she flirted with someone like this. She loved it. She kissed his cheek as he pulled away, more to tease him than anything else. “I don’t think I have anything to worry about then,” Dom answered honestly. He held her waist as he told her that he wanted to spend more time with her. The moment got slightly more serious for a second and she placed a hand on his shoulder as she looked up at him, “I’ll stay tonight for as long as you want, or until you get sick of me,” Dom smirked at the end, trying to lighten the mood a little. She was entirely willing to stay late, but she also didn’t want to wear out her welcome. She wanted Joe to want her to be around; it was much more fun that way.
Dom lifted an eyebrow when Joe told her the difference between drinking ages in England and America. Really? They had to be 21? “Is that the same in the wizarding world too?” she asked curiously, though she didn’t really care about following the rules. Dom was all in for the fun. He offered her a large tray of drinks, inviting her to choose, and then giving her options for anything else. “What do you like?” Dom asked, thinking for a moment, “Honestly I don’t want too much to drink. I think you and I could have a blast without it,” she shrugged a shoulder, lifting an eyebrow flirtatiously before chuckling. “And I don’t want to go overboard and have to leave early …” Not that Dom often went overboard when it came to drinking. She actually didn’t drink a ton, she just wanted to make sure that nothing could ruin her night with Joe.

New Years Eve, 2024 New York City Joe leaned in ever so slightly when Dom kissed his cheek, accepting it with a smile. They were hitting it off nicely. His lips tugged upwards when she said that she'd stay until he was sick of her. "Well, looks like you'll be stuck here for a while, so start getting comfortable." he patted her lightly on the back, fingertips grazing the softness of her exposed skin for a lingering moment.
"I don't really have a preference" Joe admitted with a shrug, not really caring. The redhead told him that she wasn't much of a drinker and he nodded, "You're entertaining enough where we don't have to drink to have fun." he told her with a laugh. Dom was an extremely fun girl without any enhancing substances. However, Joe liked the party, it was standard with the Fontaine name. He wasn't intending to get sloppy, sometimes he liked to allow himself to get loose and maybe a little more goofier in public than he'd normally allow himself to be without.
Since she didn't want the alcohol, he swiftly grabbed her a drink from the punch bowl. "We have people watching the punch bowl to be sure nothing weird happens to it." he told her confidently, extending a cup of red liquid toward her to take. "Ohhh, we need to finish the tour, you need to meet my dog." he demanded, knowing that she'd probably be happy for that. It would also be a nice moment for them to get away from the party upstairs for a opportunity to steal a kiss or two from her.

Dom quirked an eyebrow at Joe when he told her to get comfortable. "What makes you think I'm not comfortable already?" she asked with a smirk. It was true. Dom could easily be herself when it came to being around Joe. He was fun and easygoing and flirtatious. What more could she want?
Joe said he didn't have a preference for drinks and Dom nodded, deciding not to push further. "I'm entertaining enough?" she asked instead. "Don't you mean "we?" Or do you think I bring all the fun?" Dom was teasing, as per always. She couldn't help it when it came to Joe. He always reacted interestingly and it was amusing, which was why she wouldn't stop. Besides, her teasing didn't bother Joe, so it wasn't a problem.
He led her over to a refreshment table, getting Dom a drink of punch. She laughed at his assurance that nothing would happen to the punch. "That's good to know. I seem to remember a lot of Hogwarts parties where the drinks got spiked," she mused, still smiling. She took the glass, taking a small sip of it as he mentioned continuing the tour. "Oh! You have a dog?! Yes, you have to continue the tour then!" Dom loved animals, especially dogs and owls. She downed her juice, not really wanting to walk around with it, and set it back on the table. "Let's go! I can't wait to see it all." Especially the dog. Some alone time with Joe wouldn't be bad either, but she wasn't going to say that out loud.

New Years Eve, 2024 New York City Joe had a feeling like Dom would want to meet his dog. The expression on her face was a good indicator that she was the kind of girl who liked animals. Joe wasn't an animal freak or anything, but he did love his golden retriever, Rocky. When the redhead agreed, he smiled with a nod of the head as she eagerly downed her drink. "Yeah, we have to keep him upstairs in my room during parties because there's too many people...he gets too excited and pees all over the floor." Joe told her honestly with a dark chuckle as he grabbed her hand and pulled her up the stairs excitedly.
There wasn't anyone upstairs because it was secluded off to the party goers, "Only V.I.P.'s are allowed up here..." Joe joked playfully as they reached the top. He gestured to one door to the left of the long hallway, "My sister Ashley's room is down there...and my parents down that hall to the right." he gestured goofily with his hands like a tour guide, then they continued down a corridor, "My brothers and I have rooms down this corridor..." he informed, opening the tall doors and leading her to his room where Rocky was locked away.
Joe pushed open the door to his bedroom and Rocky was laying on his own dog bed waggling his tail. "Here he is...Rocky!" Joe announced epicly as the golden retriever jumped to its feet and rushed to the door to greet them. Rocky whined with excitement, hopping around Dom with a little dance since Joe wouldn't let him jump on her with her formal attire, "Don't be rude! I know, she's gorgeous!" he scolded the dog playfully with a laugh.

Joe had better not be teasing her about meeting his dog, because that would really just not be cool. Dom loved animals and she could tell by the look on his face that Joe's dog meant a lot to him. She laughed when he explained why the dog wasn't here. "Sounds like you really know him well," she teased, following Joe easily up the stairs, her head turning from side to side as she tried to take in the entire mansion.
"Oooh, so I'm V.I.P?" Dom asked with a smirk, squeezing his hand a little. She glanced down the hall to the left as he pointed out where his sister and parent's rooms were. He started leading her down a different hallway and Dom laughed. "Did you ever get lost here as a kid?" No, she wasn't serious ... but wasn't she? This mansion was huge! It was definitely impressive, and Dom really just wanted to check more of it out. It seemed like an adventure, to say the least. Especially if Joe was with her.
He stopped in front of a door, opening it and Dom gasped when she saw his dog. "He's adorable!" She squealed, bending over so she could pet Joe's dog, scratching behind his ears. She laughed at Joe's comment, "Apparently your dog has good taste," she winked up at him before turning back to Rocky and making faces at him as she talked to him about being stuck in a room while everyone else was partying.
Eventually she stood up straight again, turning to Joe. "Rocky is so cute!" She told him, though she was sure he already knew. The thing was, even though she loved his dog, Dom didn't want Joe to feel neglected or anything. After all, she did come to be with him, not a golden retriever.

When Dom asked him if he had ever gotten lost in their mansion, he knew that she was joking around, but he answered anyways. “No, never got lost, but there are plenty of places to hide.” Joe shared, petting Rocky as his tail wagged excitedly, showing signs that he desperately wished he could jump on his new friend Dom. ”I used to hide on the roof though because it has the best view but it would piss my mom off.” he laughed, before continuing, ”If you weren’t dressed so nice I could show you.” he said with a chuckle, meant to tease her a tiny bit.

Dom chuckled when Joe mentioned there being lots of good places to hide here. It sounded fun. She hadn't grown up in a huge mansion like this, and she really couldn't even imagine it, but she could imagine herself hiding on a consistent basis. She probably would have driven her family mad if she had this much space to do whatever she wanted in. She leaned down some more to pet Joe's dog, smiling as he licked her hand and wrist. She loved dogs! She glanced back over at Joe when he mentioned hiding on the roof, even though it upset his mom. A smirk crept onto her face at his challenge and she lifted an eyebrow at him. "That sounds like a challenge," she muttered softly. "Do you really think I'd let this dress stop me from seeing the best view? I'm definitely game ... unless your real worry is that you'll mess up that stellar suit you've got on," Dom teased right back. She wouldn't show it, but she suddenly really wanted to go on the roof. She loved going onto roofs, exploring places she shouldn't. It would be fun! If Joe actually wanted to do it.
