[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WE'RE ALL JUST PLAYING A GAME IN A WAY [attr="class","next"] Getting the invite for the Fontaine New Year’s party in the States was something that Helena could not pass up. It was addressed to the whole family, but the young Hufflepuff didn’t know if any of her family would want to go. So, she snuck away—and thankfully the letter was a portkey, one that would stay where it was left and take her to the place, meaning that no one would know, right? Plus, that meant if Ana wanted to attend the party, she could. So around the time, the party was set to start, she grabbed the letter and felt the entire world around her blur away, spinning as she screamed loudly—she wasn’t used to this type of travel. And then, she was sitting on her ass outside of a vast mansion. Her black dress probably dirty from landing on the ground, and slowly she rose to her feet, brushing off her ass before slowly making her way towards the entrance. She could hear music from inside, and before she could knock, the mansion door opened, and she entered. Glancing around, she noticed some familiar faces among the crowd as she slowly walked inside. She glanced around, making a bee-line for the refreshment table. Her eyes widened at all the goodies, but she settled for some punch. She hoped that being early meant that she by-passed the drinks getting spiked with alcohol—unless this family already put some inside. Taking a sip, she sighed in relief—she was safe.

Gilderoy wasn’t about to miss any party that seemed like it would be some what interesting. Any such party deserved his presence he thought as he got ready for the Fontaine's New Year’s party. That definitely counted as an interesting party for sure. It also helped that he had run into the host or at least one of them a few times and she was definitely someone worth hanging out with. While he doubted he would get that chance knowing how busy one could be with hosting a party he was fine with that, it would still be worth while and fun.
Getting dressed and ready he waited till just after the party started, he didn’t want to be the first one there of course. Still he was excited enough to not wait much longer than a few minutes. He thought of informing his father where he was going but he was having an especially bad day, just sitting in the living room forgetting what he was doing over and over. He wouldn’t have remembered anyway. Taking hold of the invitation he felt the world being sucked away from him or more correctly him being sucked from the world. In a blur and a rush of being pulled back and forth he regained his balance, nearly falling down. He was now in front of a large mansion and not just that but in a different country all together.
Joining the few Gilder arrived with he went inside and was impressed with the inside as well. He noticed many from the school had already shown up as well. Ashley’s family sure came from money just from the looks of the house. He wouldn’t have totally guessed that from their first meeting. She just seemed like an amazing girl, he wouldn’t have guessed she was rich as well. He spend a moment or two looking for anyone familiar enough to go up and talk to. Not finding anyone just yet Gilderoy decided to make a tour of the party area finding the refreshment table first. It had a number of snacks and drinks including punch which since the party had just begun he imagined hadn’t been spiked just yet. Possibly this party would be different, this was at a families home after all.
Gilderoy did come to find a familiar face in a way. At quick glance he thought is was Ana but looking again he realized it was the younger of the Krum sisters. He hadn’t had a chance to talk to her before but her sister had pointed her out once before. It was under the pretense he assumed of “and that’s my sister, don’t talk to her.” Still she never explicitly said that. “Helena, right?” Gilderoy spoke up. “I’m Gilderoy, Ana’s friend. So is just the cutest of the Krum clan here or is everyone coming?”

YOU LOOK GREATEST WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE A DAMN QUEEN ALL JUST PLAYING A GAME IN A WAY, TRYING TO WIN AT LIFE
Helena was never really one for parties, at least, none on her own. She usually had one of her siblings with her, most likely Ana since she still attended Hogwarts with her, but this time she had slipped away on her own. Sure, that wouldn't stop Ana from appearing later, but for now, she only knew of her attending the party that the American family was throwing.
Having taken a sip of the non-alcoholic punch, she nursed it between her hands and clutching it as if it were a mug of hot chocolate and she was trying to warm up. Of course, she wasn't cold and nor did she have chocolate, but she was still interested in doing so to this cold drink. Her eyes moved around as she slowly raised the drink to her lips again, taking a considerable slurp just as someone spoke, and she sputtered her glass and started coughing to clear her throat. It had gone down the wrong pipe, in front of someone.
She spun to look at them, and her eyes widened, and a blush appeared on her face. Oh god...not him. She did not just choke on punch in front of him!
She smiled, clearing her throat before she spoke. "I know who you are," she started internally rolling her eyes. Smooth Lena, real smooth, she thought to herself before continuing or trying to. It was then that she realized he had called her the cutest Krum, and a huge blush appeared on her face. She quickly shook her head, tucking a strand of brunette hair behind her ear before returning the hand to hold her beverage. "Uh, I'm not sure. No one else mentioned coming, but I wouldn't be surprised if Ana were coming. Why?" @lockhart

Gilderoy had a moment of concern as Helena seemed to choke on her drink for a second as if it was going down the wrong way. It happened around the same time he started to speak to her. Possibly it was because he startled her at the wrong moment. Either way seconds later she seemed fine, looking toward him and replied that she knew who he was. He was Ana’s friend so it wasn’t hard to imagine that she knew him. Besides he was Gilderoy after all, of course people knew him. “Well that’s good, it saves me from having to find Ana to vouch for what I was saying and not just making up a lie to speak to you.” Gilderoy explained with a laugh making a small joke. “Are you okay by the way?”
Helena blushed for a moment as he called her cute before explaining that she wasn’t sure if Ana was coming or not, asking him why he asked. He just smiled and nodded for a second. “I was just curious. Running into old friends is always great but sometimes it even more fun to make a new one. Don’t you think?” Gilderoy asked with a smirk and a wink as he was talking about her. “How are you finding the party so far?”

Oh god, she would have to tell Lydia about this moment. They were members of his fan club after all. Would she care, though? She internally groaned, she wasn't sure, but she was already making a fool of herself. She gave a small laugh at his joke, and nodded her head, "Oh yeah-I'm fine!" she said with a smile on her face.
'I was just curious. Running into old friends is always great but sometimes it even more fun to make new ones. Don't you think? How are you finding the party so far?' She was actually talking to Gilderoy Freaking Lockhart! She wanted to faint and instead cleared her throat, "I agree. And the parties great, for the few minutes I've been here anyway." she said.

Gilderoy smiled as Helena explained that she fine after her slight coughing fit. Her drink having gone the wrong way. It was good to see that the surprise of him showing up didn’t have any lasting effects. ”Trust me, I’m well aware that you’re fine.” Gilderoy paused as he smirked for a moment and winked looking over toward Helena. ”I was asking if you were okay. It’s good to see you are though.” He added as he was aware of what she was getting at he was just being complimentative.
Helena explained that for the few minutes that she’s been here that the party had been great so far. “That’s great to hear. I’d hate to hear that I had arrived to a disappointing party.” He joked as he doubted Ashley could throw a bad party at the least after having met her before at Hogsmeade. ”Well I’d love to see if I can make the night even better. Would you like to dance?” Gilderoy offered as he held out his hand toward Helena leaving it up to her if she’d like to or not.
