It was New year's Eve, and they were invited to a party in New York. Katherine and Lance had nearly missed their invitations, having left their homes to go on vacation to the beach. Thankfully the invitations still found their way to them, and Katherine couldn't help the fact that she was excited. She was glad to be in the sun and surf with Lance, of course, but she was happy to go spend the night in New York City, her hometown. They had attended the party, Katherine's dress a very sleek, long black number. But, around 11:45, Katherine led lance out of the mansion and nodded her head toward the city lights. "Can I show you something?" She asked him. Taking his hand, she prepared to apperate as soon has he agreed. This was her hometown, something she wasn't planning on showing him on their vacation, but since they were here anyway she may as well share something. lancelot ray linley

@katie 12.31.2024 There had been a slight divergence from the trip to the beach he and Katherine had been on for the last week – a one night getaway to a fancy New Year’s Eve party in New York City. Somehow their invitations had found their way to the beach cottage they had rented out, and at the given time, said invitations activated as portkeys and took the two of them to the mansion this grand party was being held at.
The party itself wasn’t exactly Lance’s cup of tea, but the place they were in was. An hour into it and he had the realization that he was back in the United States, something that hadn’t happened in the last seven years. As much as he hated thinking about it, this had also been the closest to Barbara he had been in six months as well, though her exact whereabouts in the states were hard to pin down. The last letter he had received from his mother said she was back in South Carolina, but knowing her that wasn’t going to be for long. Always moving, that one was. He didn’t care where she was as long as she was moving further and further away from him and Georgie.
With midnight fast approaching, Katherine pulled him away from the party and back outside, explaining that she wanted to show him something. “Have I told you that you look gorgeous?” Lance had in fact said that numerous times already, and he was starting to think that the bubbly water he had been drinking all night had a little more bubbly to it than water. Taking her hand, he looked at her quizzically, “Are we going somewhere?”

Lance asked if she had been told that she looked gorgeous, to which she nodded, "many, many times, babe," she answered, giving him an affectionate pat on the arm. He took her hand and he asked if they were going somewhere. She nodded. "I figure since we're already in New York I should show you the best part. You're a little tipsy, so don't be alarmed by the apparation," she warned him. She gave his hand a tight squeeze and apparated with him alongside. They appeared on an elevated train track that had been transformed into a walkway with grass and trees everywhere. The extension in front of a large mall was closed between dusk and dawn, but since they apparated they appeared in the closed area. It wrapped around the train yards and on one side the view was the mall and a large golden sculpture and if you turned your head the other view was of the Hudson river. The appeared right at the start of the semi-circle walkway. "Here we are."lancelot ray linley Here a pic: The Highline/Vessel/Hudson Yards
