24TH JANUARY 2025 1 AM…
IT WAS A CLOSE CALL, bumping into Max in the midst of her midnight strolls. Bryelle had decided the Towers were too high up, the air fake and the sights dull, so quietly, she strolled down the stairs, finding herself on the Main Floor when Max found her. It was interesting, considering no Prefect or Professor had caught up with the Goyle but being caught was to be expected. After all, the Slytherin girl was a Prefect as well as one of Lance's closest friends, and in the time Bryelle had spent in Hogwarts, she had grown fond of Max. It was only inevitable that the Greyback would let her go, considering they were close to being best friends. If it were any other Prefect, someone like Jimmie or even Gilderoy, the Goyle would’ve found herself looking at the short end of the stick, especially since the two of them would written some kind of report only to slam the Gryffindor with detention. In fairness, she was breaking one of the top rules the school provided to the students. It was a habit for the brunette, to wander when she wasn’t meant to, in areas she wasn’t supposed to be in.
From the collision with Max, Bryelle promised to make a swift return to the Towers, but stopped shortly at the Third Floor. In all the brunette’s years at Hogwarts, her curiosity swayed in the direction of the Forbidden Corridor, but her body was never confident enough to stroll inside of it. Wand lit from the simple spell of Lumos, the area Bryelle quietly walked from, would eventually bring the door of the corridor into view and her bravery to actually step inside this time around was high…Until she turned the corner. The silhouette of a body not too far from her was enough to drive panic in the Goyle, as well as realise how little time she had to mutter the counter spell: Nox. But she knew, when she heard the footsteps turn to her direction, it was too late for her freedom. From the tip of her wand, revealed the stern face of Professor Zabini staring down at her.
A dry lump formed in her throat as she knew she was ultimately caught, ready to probably receive detentions until the end of the month.”Busted?” She spoke, trying to form a joke, knowing now was no time for any kind of joke. Given who her parents were, maybe she’d be let off the hook, it was the optimistic side of her that always hoped for the best. She made a mental note to curse Lily into driving her into that way of looking at things. ”Forgive me Professor, found myself sleep walking and now I gotta head back, so if you don’t mind…” And with that, the Gryffindor began to turn slightly, ready to make a run for it past him.

01.24.2025 Somehow, Blaise had managed to avoid pulling the night shift almost a month into the second term. Having a morning class virtually every day of the week certainly helped with that, and McGonagall and the other professors seemed to be sympathetic to making a new professor do too many night patrols in a row. The joke was on them, because he sort of preferred this to handling detention periods or watching over Quidditch practices. Those shifts provided very little time to think about what he wanted to think about, and a nice stroll through a silent castle was perfect for doing that.
The amount of students out after curfew had ramped up near the end of the first term, but that was almost to be expected. Very few classes these days held any important exams or projects that had to be completed before the Christmas holidays and the excitement of the impending break drove all the students crazy. Blaise had even slackened on the amount of detentions and point deductions he was handing out. Having children, bless their souls, had made him soft. But the spring term was a different beast, and early on like this meant that he could throw the entire book down on those breaking the rules if he felt like it. Not every student deserved it, of course, but there were a select few he loved to put through detention hell whenever they gave him the chance.
Like the Goyle girl, who was standing in front of him near the third floor corridor with her wand blasting a lumos spell as an open invitation to be caught. Blaise had seen it from the other side of the stairs, long before she knew he was in the area, and had made a beeline for her location. “Busted,” he said as she started to make an excuse about sleepwalking and having to leave. Was she really going to try and outrun him? Extending his arm out to block her escape, Blaise lit his own wand and stuck it in front of her face. “Wish you would put this much effort into my class Goyle. My expectations weren’t high to begin with, knowing your parents, but you almost had me changing my mind. Trying to dethrone Potter from her detention streak isn’t the greatest look in the world.”

TRYING TO RUN WAS PROBABLY one of the stupidest ideas Bryelle had ever planned. She was stopped by an arm, as well as a familiar voice, her eyes closing in hopes that she was dreaming the whole thing. Sadly, she wasn’t. ”Professor…” She began, peering up to see him with the help of Lumos, until his own wand blinded her eyes. She lifted up her hand in surprise, covering her tired eyes until they eased, able to see him clearly. ”I really do try…My best…To be in your classes.” She grinned, knowing that her grades as of recent hadn’t been as great as something like Potions. She knew she should’ve felt offended at the comment surrounding her parents but it was rather true. The Goyles were a stupid line of a family, but both Renard and Bryelle were proving the elder generations wrong. Renard was smart as a whole while Bryelle was…slowly getting there.
”At least my scores are better than Nathaniel.” She added, crossing her arms so her wand rested on the inside. It had always been a challenge between the two of them, and while the Slytherin had the upper hand back in early December, Bryelle seemed to be doing better now. Not as exceptional as she wanted it to be but…Better. She felt the need to scoff at the additional comment that involved Lily, but instead she poked her tongue through the inside of her cheek, rolling her eyes. Sure, Lily was her best friend…A strong influence and overall…just…Lily. Though, the man did have a point. Regardless, the Gryffindor shrugged. ”I’m my own person Professor. I wouldn’t say I’m trying to overtake Lily…More so join forces with her and suffer detention together.” She figured, considering the time it was, and where the Goyle was, somewhat far from her dorms, detention would probably be the ending result from the conversation anyway. ”Let me guess, maybe two weeks of detention? Three for my witty responses?”

01.24.2025 Blaise knew that his spell was blinding the girl, having it basically shoved in her face and all, but he didn’t care. If she hadn’t tried to bolt, the wand would have stayed by his side. Children did the funniest things. Blaise wasn’t obtuse enough to think his own kids were any better than the Goyle girl or any of the current students. He was sure they had their own spell of detentions and misgivings that never made it home to him in a letter. Now it was a little harder to pull off since he was a professor. “Trying isn’t good enough. Do you know how surprised I was to hear your surname achieving some semblance of notoriety at the Ministry? Baffled. That’s what I was. Now I don’t know that brother of yours, but it seems like his head is screwed on the right way as opposed to your parents, so maybe try to be a little more like him.” The Goyle boy was really just a glorified janitor, cleaning up after the messes left by dark creatures. Anyone could do that with a day or two of training, and the job was far from being an illustrious Ministry position. But in the Goyle family that was a step up from mummy and daddy.
He let out an annoyed snort at the mention of her classmate’s grades. Trying to deflect her own faults onto Forrester was rich. “Unlike you, Mr. Forrester shows up to class and he stays after when he has questions about certain topics. I can pass him for trying to put in the effort. I can’t do that for you if you don’t change things.” It was an empty threat at the end of the day because it was easier to pass her and get rid of her after next year than to keep her hanging around for extra time. Potter was the only one out of all of his students that was at risk for a failure, and he didn’t feel bad about that in the slightest. That girl needed more help than he was capable of giving her in one year and it showed.
“Have some self-respect Goyle. If you want to be your own person, distance yourself from Potter. There isn’t anything admirable about being the flunky werewolf child of an over glorified war hero.” He could go on and on about his opinion of the Potter family and what Harry did right and wrong with both his children and the Auror department. Some of it was good, but there was a lot of bad in there too. The sort of bad that Blaise felt like a lot of the blame for the student deaths being placed on the Ministry and the Aurors was well deserved. “I can’t let you choose your punishment. What sort of professor would I be then? Start walking. I’ll have something decided by the time we get to Gryffindor Tower.” He waved his wand away from her face and in the direction of her common room, waiting for the girl to start walking before he followed.

WANTING TO KICK PAST OR even scream, Bryelle knew trying to fight her way past one of the smartest professors Hogwarts had to offer was one of the…dumbest things she had ever done. If Renard was here to see her, he would have been disappointed the same way Professor Blaise was. The mention of an award of…Notoriety left Bryelle confused however. Her brother had won something? ”Is that meant to be a good thing?” She found herself asking in question. She had no idea of the Ministry’s…Awards, or whatever they were referred to as, but her brother being rewarded for something other than being a complete asshole didn’t fit correctly. ”—I don’t need to be more like him. I’m me.” She added, crossing her arms as she finally gave up. Her parents were failures, while Renard was engaged to someone he supposedly hated. Bryelle was not going to be the next fuck-up of the family, this was just a simple one off.
In a huff, she turned to Professor Blaise, nose flaring as she felt somewhat offended in the comparison between herself and Nathaniel. ”I show up to class!” She protested before pausing. That was really all she did. Majority of the day spent in Professor Blaise classes were spent for day-dreaming and eventually begging that Ravenclaw girl — who had just gone blonde — for help. She didn’t talk much aside from sharing her notes, but it helped the Goyle catch up to where she needed to be. Even if she didn’t do too well on the mark percentages for quizzes and homework. ”At least I try! I try to be better than Lily and show her what she would be missing out on. At least I have a year left to completely fuck up my life and then reconsider everything.” It was as if the Professor knew what riled up the Gryffindor, especially as the older man went on. Bryelle believed herself as her own person, influenced by many but not necessarily following anyone. Bryelle was Bryelle. The same way Lily was Lily, Nathaniel was Nathaniel and so on and so forth.
”Admirable? You think I’m simply around Lily because I admire her? Fan-girl over her because her father was one of the coolest wizards in our life-time?” Bryelle did admire Lily, but all for different reasons. She was truly the Potter’s friend, there for dangerous and down times as well as the good and hyped ones. ”Bullshit. Lily’s my friend, through thick and thin.” And there was the running feature to get a few extra weeks of detention thrown onto her upcoming punishment. ”I hate the fact you Professors always assume differently of us, because we ‘rub off’ on one another. If I was quite like Lily, I wouldn’t have the best of grades Professor.” Sure, she was great in some classes and terrible in others but Lily…Well…The Potter knew she was terrible all over. At his command to start walking, Bryelle began to storm off, heading towards the stairs students would pile themselves on during the schooling hours. ”You might as well pick something now.” She muttered.

01.24.2025 Blaise wanted to face palm when the Goyle girl asked if her brother being known at the Ministry was a good thing or not. He didn’t particularly align his views with that of the over glorified janitors that cleaned up after magical mishaps caused by creatures, but they were necessary for him to do his jobs whilst he was still a part of the government. “Having a decent career in the Ministry is certainly a good thing,” he said rather matter-of-factly to her. As she said she was her own person, Blaise could already tell where the rest of this conversation was going to go. Damn kids and their need to act out all the time. All he could do was shake his head. “I guess training trolls like your mother would suit you just as well, now come on.” Flicking his wand in the direction of the Gryffindor tower once again, he was really hoping it would end right there. Apparently putting down the Potter girl was a mistake though, because that really riled Goyle up.
Listening to her protests about showing up to class, and taking notes, and blah blah blah blah…he felt like he had heard all of this before. This was Gryffindors 101 after all, and it had been that way since the day he was sorted at eleven years old. They were unbelievably stubborn with their ridiculous amount of unwavering loyalty to one another. Somehow that meant they all decided to be idiots together, because there weren’t many bright ones that he currently taught. Goyle and her trio of half-vampire, two of which were so far behind in their studies that they were impossible to teach, comprised the sixth year Gryffindors, and then the seventh years had three Weasleys, Potter, and her werewolf friend. Blaise had nothing against demi-humans, but the ones he was currently teaching left a poor impression on their kind. They weren’t the brightest children he had ever encountered, that was for sure.
“Right, well there wouldn’t be any fun in watching you squirm if I picked a punishment right now, would there?” Blaise chuckled as he followed Goyle up the stairs to the fourth floor. He wanted to see how big of a hole she would dig herself into by the time they reached her common room. So far he had her on being out after curfew and then lying to him about why she was out. There really wasn’t much more that he could get her on without looking like he tried to get her to self-incriminate, and she did give up rather easily. He certainly didn’t get paid enough to deal with teenagers day in and day out, but it was better than being forced to hunt down escaped convicts or terrorists.

BRYELLE DIDN’T KNOW MUCH, BEING only a sixteen year old girl, but she knew when the time was right and she would be forced to experience and live in the real world…She would try her best to do something with her life. She had some sort of aspiration for now, to join in the arms of the Ministry like Renard, but she was also unsure about things as well. Maybe because she wanted to live her best life instead of being restricted to things. ”Training trolls? What fool do you take me for Professor?” She asked in an outburst. Here it was again, her rebellious side being lined up with the stupidity of her mother. She was different for Merlin’s sake! Not as smart as Renard, but she had a bloody functioning brain.
”No. But it would save a load of time if you made your mind up here and now Professor.” She just had to be the wise ass of the day didn’t she? It was disrespectful, talking to the way she was speaking to Professor Blaise, but Bryelle was sure she had given up anyway. He was annoying her, the same way most of the Professors did and she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. That’s why everyone came to her first for advice and help!

▲ Why were they even arguing about this in the first place? Goyle was trying to get under his skin, and Blaise wasn’t having any of it. She wanted to be punished, it seemed, and that was a first with any of the students he had encountered, bar Potter. At least in that girl’s case, she didn’t really understand consequences or right from wrong, which made sense considering who her father was. But Goyle should have known better. Should have known what came of people that slacked off, because that was exactly what her parents had down. Of course, they were also dullards that had paste for brains, so she already had that over them. “The kind of fool who’s path I’ve seen before. You forget that your parents were my classmates, and I watched them not give a damn about their goals or aspirations for seven years straight. The path you have chosen to take with your actions tonight, Miss Goyle, is the one that leads you to training trolls and other unsavory jobs. You also seem to have forgotten that I’m a professor, and my job is to teach students so they don’t go down that path,” Blaise barked at her, stopping and turning on his heels so he could look down at her. “If you’re so inclined to rebel, at least do it in a positive manner so that you don’t turn out like them.”Shaking his head in disbelief that he even had to have a conversation like this with her, he continued his walk towards the Gryffindor tower, choosing to ignore the punishment question once again. “Fine. Since you want something out of this, your punishment is a fifteen page paper on the diet and socialization of trolls in the wild. I’ll consider more if you continue to argue.” He didn’t want to give her detention because that seemed like a cop out. Nothing was ever done during those periods anyways. Forcing more work upon the Gryffindor seemed to fit though. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

MOST PROFESSORS WOULD’VE SNAPPED THEN, refused for such language to come out of a student’s mouth but Professor Blaise was different. The head of Slytherin, a man who had seen it all in Hogwarts so long ago he probably gave up on taking student’s shit. It was a challenge for the brave Goyle, one she refused to let go of. At his words, Bryelle’s facial expression soured.
She hated being reminded by the elders of the Hogwarts team that her parents were once here, as stupid as they were now. Her father had been a follower while her mother a quiet loner, but nevertheless they were both completely and utterly stupid. ”I’ve never had the intention to ever be like them Professor.” She retorted, lips shaping upwards into a grin. ”Regardless of my actions, my passing marks, what I do or say, I will never be like them.” She would make sure of it. And if not her, her brother would put her in check, he had already done so once. ”I’d rather die by somebody else’s wand than do what they do. So Professor I’ll do my best and rebel positively.”
Their walk towards the Gryffindor tower only felt longer the more Bryelle stepped and eventually her eyes began to droop, indicating her tiredness. Her burst of energy wasted by running around on the lower floors of the Wizarding school. She wished she had shut up during the chances Professor Blaise had given her since now she had wound up getting herself a fifteen-paged essay on bloody trolls. ”Trolls…in the wild?” She questioned him, brow raised and mouth hung open. ”Are you kidding me?”

▲ Blaise desperately wanted to roll his eyes at the Goyle girl when she started on her new tirade of not wanting to be like her parents. She could say all she wanted about it, but the fact remained that he saw the exact same steps being taken by her that her parents had taken during their time in school. Obviously there was no clear indication whether or not she really would end up like them. That was up to her at the end of the day, and he could only warn her of the signs as they appeared. Clearly she didn’t see anything wrong with what she had been doing or who she was associating herself with. “You’re truly indignant, Miss Goyle,” Blaise grumbled under his breath as he resumed his walking once again. He doubted she understood what he meant by rebelling ‘positively’, or what that even entailed. As far as he could see, she was going to continue with her self-serving attitude and forever be stuck in the same loop she was currently in. “Yes. Wild trolls. You asked for a punishment, and that’s what I’ve decided to give you. Detention is too…small for someone like you at this point. Plus I can’t really have you and Miss Potter conspiring all hours of the day. I doubt she’ll be much help with the research for that paper either.” Maybe if it was on werewolves or the art of being an annoying pain the arse, Potter would have been an expert, but from his own conversations with the other professors, she was going to be having a lot of trouble graduating on time. Somehow she was barely scraping by in his class. Blaise doubted that would remain the same by the time final exams rolled by though. “If you haven’t noticed yet Miss Goyle, I am not the kidding sort. If you want me to go easier on you, then you’ll have to prove yourself. Because I can very easily make your final year at Hogwarts difficult if I see it fit.”

LIKE THE NEXT BRAT, OF course Bryelle would stick up for herself. She felt it was nothing but an insult being compared to the likes of her parents. But even then, if they had not met or shaped their own lives differently, maybe Bryelle wouldn’t of existed. But the brunette had hope. If her brother could turn their name around amongst others, surely she could as well. She could do anything her mind put her towards! At least that’s what she hoped. She couldn’t hear much of the Professor’s grumbles, nor did she truthfully want to, considering he was undoubtedly judging or comparing her to her parents again.
”But out of all things Professor, you chose trolls? Is it because of my mother’s profession? That you expect me to just…know about trolls?” It felt like an indirect of an insult at this point, but the Goyle had truthfully heard worse. ”Detention probably would’ve been a better option…” She muttered but he had a valid point. All Lily was mostly doing was being her own person or stuck in detention. Put two chaotic friends with one another and it becomes one big problem. Professor Zabini definitely saw it coming. ”She’s helpful in…other ways.” But truth be told, papers was definitely not Lily’s speciality. Luckily they were for Bryelle. ”Prove myself? How can anyone prove themselves when they’re just being…themselves?” What a tongue twister.

▲ Blaise would be lying if he said he hadn’t chosen the paper topic precisely because her mother trained the horrid creatures. The idea behind it was that she would maybe realize that continuing down her current path would one day lead her to a summer internship as a troll handler, and eventually, a lifetime following in her mother’s footsteps. Nobody wanted to actively take care of and train trolls. That was a job for the failures in life. Anyone could a position at the Ministry these days, so those that were incapable ended up where Mrs. Goyle did. Only a truly horrible, brutish character could love training trolls more than her own children. One quick look at the Goyle girl told him all he needed to know. “I would certainly hope that you know more than the average witch or wizard your age, yes.” Hopefully that wasn’t expecting too much of the Gryffindor, though the longer their stroll lasted, the more he was starting to realize that it had the possibility of being so for her. He ignored the girl’s grumblings about detention being ‘better’ and how Lily Potter was somehow helpful (though he failed to see how that was possible, her classroom antics certainly being the more tame of her usual self). Trying to think of ways the Potter girl was ever going to be productive to society aside from being a constant nuisance was asking for a headache to come on, and Blaise immediately ceased all thoughts on the girl. “If you think everyone is being themselves, then you have a lot of learning to do still, Miss Goyle,” Blaise countered back. He knew he was going to sound like a dinosaur with how his viewpoints on things were, but years of dealing with people had proved these theories. “One day you’ll look back on how you acted during school and realize that you were a fool. Miss Potter probably won’t figure it out, but you still have a chance to make up for it. Maybe even lead her in the right direction as well. But, if you truly think this is the best you can do, then I don’t know if I can help you at all.”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
