BUT IT FEELS LIKE I'VE OPENED MY EYES AGAIN AND THE COLORS ARE GOLDEN AND BRIGHT AGAIN
JANUARY 22, 2025 So much had happened in such little time, and now a new year had fallen upon the world. This year was going to be different, she would be happy, she would smile more, and she would be more optimistic than she was the previous year. Maybe it was because she and Tia decided to turn over another leaf over Christmas, or perhaps it was something different. With all the darkness that was happening in the Wizarding World, and while the Prophet was bustling with new reports and active things to write about, Tamara was hoping that things would fix itself. She had gotten a text the previous day from Dana asking about what she was up to the next day, luckily Tamara was off and was quickly giving time to meet her blonde friend out front of the Leaky Cauldron, and wasn't given any other information other than that. Trusting her friend, she got up early that day and gotten herself ready, a nice shower, did her makeup, had a good breakfast, and then in the afternoon had disappeared from her apartment and made her way down the London streets. She arrived a few minutes early, standing outside of their meet up, and looked down at her phone and sent a quick text to Dana. ▶ NEW TEXT MESSAGE! TAMARA FINCH SAYS... I'm here! Should I go inside? @dana

as if nothing’s different. THE NEW YEAR HAD FINALLY arrived! And that meant Dana Knox had many things to be grateful for. Her brother had finally awoken from a slumber that went on for too long, given it was Dana’s fault for not considering the surgery a lot sooner. She remembered asking him what the last thing he remembered was, who he was and a whole lot of bombarding questions. Noah was fine though, recovering faster than ever and even adapting back into Hogwarts. It was a sight Dana believed she would never see again. Because the new year had begun, Dana wanted to ensure everything would be different about it. Speaking to new colleagues, taking up different projects and hanging out with more of her old friends from Hogwarts. And today, Tamara Finch was the lucky win.
The previous day, Dana had bugged her friend about her free schedule, hoping for the two to meet up some place near the Leaky Cauldron (somewhat directly opposite it) where Wizards and Witches alike supposedly went for tattoos and piercings. The whole Muggle activities but just combined with magic. It was fun in a sense, considering Dana had returned multiple times to the parlour for a touch up here or a new piercing there and a new idea seemingly popped into her mind. A new tattoo, celebrating the date her brother woke up…And maybe a new matching one with Tamara. With her leg crossed over the other, Dana fumbled with her thumbs. She was dressed casually today unlike her usual formal attire at work, hair tied up in a bun and makeup: rather minimal. She looked exactly the same way as when her father and sister died, without a care in the world.
Soon enough, the blonde’s phone buzzed away in her pocket, leading her to search through to find it. Once the device lit up, she smiled at the incoming text from Tamara, who was somewhat on time and outside of where Dana had told them to meet.

The next message came back quickly from her friend, and she frowned down at it, looking directly opposite of the Leaky Cauldron. "Huh?" she questioned aloud to herself before realization hit her. It was a tattoo parlor, one that she had never been to but had heard great things about. She rolled her eyes, of course, Dana would bring her here. They had a matching tattoo together, and Tamara had been talking about getting a new one or even a piercing.
She made her way across the street and pulled open the door, finding her friend sitting there. She laughed as she drew closer, the two girls hugging in greeting. "I should have known you'd drag me here after our last talk," she said as they pulled away.

as if nothing’s different. KNOWING THE FINCH GIRL WOULD feign anger for the time span of two minutes, and Dana was somewhat right when her friend arrived. The buzzes of a familiar tattooing machine was going off in the background and Dana pushed some hair behind her ear after detaching herself from the hug the two shared, sitting down and facing the frosted glass windows the parlour had. ”You somewhat…convinced me into finding this place! You know how much I love tattoos and piercings.” Dana’s pain intolerance for the former was far supreme over the sharp pain she felt when getting a piercing, but with her ears crowded and the fact that she didn’t really want any facial piercings, where else was there to pierce?
”I’m getting a tattoo.” She grinned, looking up at her friend. ”Something small but meaningful, just on my collarbone.” She added, index finger pulling at the hem of her shirt to draw back where she planned to have the new design. It was meaningful as it was the date Noah woke up. One of the happiest moments in Dana’s life as of 2025.

'You somewhat...convinced me into finding this place! You know how much I love tattoos and piercings.' Tamara laughed, nodding her head; she did know how much she liked it, having come a few times with her to either watch it get done, get one herself, or when they got matching ones. Dana was like the sister that Tamara never had, and filled the void that Tia had left within her after their fight.
"Oh-what are you getting?" she questioned, curiously looking at her friend. Tamara had been thinking about getting something pierced, as well as a tattoo. But she wasn't too sure at the moment. None-the-less, if her friend got a tattoo, she surely would fall down the rabbit hole as well. She had thought about getting her nose done, or even her belly button - not that she no longer did sports, she did not need to worry. She also was tempted to add to her collection of tattoos, maybe one that symbolized her relationship with Liam - but still, she sometimes worried it wouldn't last, even if she wanted it to be a forever deal.
"How's your brother?" she questioned, out of the blue. Tamara had told Dana about her and Tia's Christmas rekindlement and deal to work out their relationship, and Dana later told her that Noah had woken up. She had yet to hear if he was out of the hospital or not.

as if nothing’s different. DANA LOOKED UP AT HER friend once she asked the question, lips tugging upwards for a smile. ”The day Noah woke up.” She responded, remembering how hard she cried by her brother’s bedside. Callisto done an amazing job with her team, and Noah was now more than healthier. It was as if he hadn’t been asleep for what felt like three years, at all. It was somewhat ironic that Tamara had asked how Noah was doing, considering Dana had another thing in her life to smile about. ”Yeah he’s…Perfect. He’s missed a lot, but his friends and Professors are helping him get back to where he needs to be.”
Dana wouldn’t be surprised if Noah approached her, telling her he would need to redo a few years of so before he could graduate. It was somewhat…expected considering their situation. But the Knox knew Noah wouldn’t mind, he loved Hogwarts after all. She turned slightly, her hands resting just above her knees. ”How’s Tia? Or Liam even?” It had been a while since the two girls caught up with things, except their last meeting.

Tamara smiled as Dana answered, stating that her tattoo would be that of when her brother woke up. "That sounds like a perfect tattoo," she breathed out, nodding her head as if agreeing with her comment. Should she get another tattoo? Should she get a piercing? She wasn't too sure.
Dana distracted her, though, answering her question about her brother's current state. She smiled, "That's great. I'm sure he'll be fine with schooling, they won't let him fall behind." And then, Dana asked about Tia and Liam, and she smiled. "Well - Tia and I are on speaking terms again. We decided on Christmas that we were tired of fighting and wanted to be friends again. As for Liam, he's...perfect."

as if nothing’s different. AT TAMARA’S RESPONSE, DANA LOWERED her head, the twitch of her lips only slightly revealing her smile. Noah’s awakening had been an emotional rollercoaster, and with their mother somewhat out of the picture, Dana knew things would be a little harder to handle.
”I know that.” Dana agreed, no Professor would allow their student to fall behind, even with drastic circumstances. ”Tami, that’s amazing!” She smiled, she knew Tamara had been quite sad the moment Tia wouldn’t even face her, but this was great news. ”You guys have been going on strong for some time now…” A sort of love Dana wanted also.

'Tami, that's amazing! You guys have been going on strong for some time now.' The brunette smiled, her head looking down for a second as if embarrassed. Slowly, her gaze returned to her friend. "I agree...I guess we both decided it was time to grow up. And yeah, we've been together practically forever it feels at this point." The words came out with a smile before she shrugged her shoulders.
She felt like Liam was the one, more so than she did with Ethan. Ethan had been perfect for her at the time, but eventually, she realized that he wasn't the one she wanted to marry. Sure, she had been a bad girlfriend when she kissed Liam. But it was through that kiss that she discovered her feelings, and very few knew of this. Dana being one that she had told. "What about you? Anyone in your life yet?"
