Daniel begrudging accepted the fact that he would have to study as exams closed in. He had been lucky enough to retain most things taught in class. Sadly professors loved to insist they study something’s on their own to be ready for when it came up in class or the exams. Studying was his least favorite thing to do but at the same time his list of least favorite things was probably larger than the average person. None the less he set his free day aside from just doing whatever he normally did which wasn’t a very defined thing to studying. His average free day was just wondering around the castle possibly talking to a friend or two. He enjoyed his peace and quiet too much lately get to involved in anything. He used to hate being alone for too long yet that changed after coming to Hogwarts. The year of feeling like he needed to just be alone changed that.
With his bag in tow Daniel made his way to the library, during the couple of minutes it took to get to the library he tried to think of what to study first. Potions was always a problem for him, that and charms at times. Which is why he found the rumors that he had some kind of illegal potion making business at school even more hilarious. He had no idea who would started that rumor but they must have had no idea just how mediocre he was at potions. Arriving at the library he realized he wasn’t alone in studying as it seemed to be busy or at least busier than the library normally was. He chose coming to the library because there was no way it could be louder than the Gryffindor common room and that was still true at least.
Regretfully there wasn’t any empty tables left as they all at least had one person, he would have preferred an empty one just to be more alone while studying. What he did find was a family face reading even if he currently was wishing they weren’t that familiar. Katie was sat at a table all to herself, possibly having scared someone else away from sitting next to her. That probably wasn’t true but he chuckled to himself at the idea. yet he figured his Chances were high if he sat at the same table she might say something and get up. Giving Daniel his own empty table and if she stayed it would still be in someway entertaining. Taking a seat on the other side of the table and just off to the side to her, he didn’t really want to be right a crossed from her, Daniel spoke up. “You dragged yourself all the way up from that basement dungeon of a common room just to read by yourself?”

Katherine actually liked the library here, not that she wanted to admit that to anyone. The architecture of the castle had done a great job, even if it was here and not home. She was starting to become a little more forgiving about not being able to finish her last year at her own school, so it was easier now to admire the workings of Hogwarts. She was comfortable in the library. It reminded her of all the comfort that she had found in her math and science textbooks over the years. She was looking at an arithmacy book now, reading for class the next day. She was glad her table was empty, but there weren't many other places to sit so it was possible that someone may join her at some point. She'd probably just ignore them. She saw someone sit down out of the corner of her eye, and looked up when he spoke. She rolled her eyes. "good gods, Daniel. There really isn't anywhere else you can sit?" she countered harshly. "I like to read by myself. If you recall," she rolled her eyes, "plus, my boyfriend is busy." She and Lance hadn't actually decided to call each other anything like that, but Daniel didn't need to know the details. @crimson1

Daniel just laughed for a moment as the first thing Katie did after he spoke was roll her eyes. He wasn’t surprised either that, that was he first reaction. Katie asked if there wasn’t anywhere else he could have sat and he shrugged. “Probably but none of them seemed as entertaining as this seat.” Daniel offered up his excuse rather than just saying he thought she would have given up her table to get away from him. Looking back it was highly unlikely she would give up the table even more because it was him after all. Katie explained that she liked to read by herself if he could recall that. Daniel remembered that as she also pointed out that her boyfriend was busy. “Boyfriend? Is he as dreamy as I imagine he is?” He replied in a sarcastic tone followed by a small laugh. Katherine didn’t have any reason to try and make him jealous nor did he have a reason to be jealous so Daniel believed this boyfriend actually did exist. Daniel eventually pulled out his potion book to attempt to study a little all the while continuing with the hopes that just talking to Katie would get him the table. “I need to study sadly but do tell me about your new lover boy. One of the brits got a hold of you?”

Katherines eyes narrowed significantly when he said that this seat was the most entertaining choice. Oh, if he wanted entertainment she would give him entertainment. He asked if Lance was as 'dreamy' as he thought he was, and Katherine sighed. "He's got a lip peircing. That's fairly dreamy, I suppose," she suggested, her tone casual and nonchalant. She reached for her book and brought it up to her face, blocking herself from his view. Still, she he said he wanted entertainment, so she put her feet up on the table, crossing her ankles right next to the book he had pulled out for himself. He asked if a brit had gotten ahold of her and she scoffed, "yeah f***ing right," she tapped her top foot against the one underneath it, her shoes making a clunking noise. She was sure that would interupt his concentration. Heck, she was wearing one of the short uniform skirts, so her thighs were exposed and not far from him. If the sound didn't distract him, maybe the memories would. @crimson1

Katherine explained a little, very little actually, about her current boyfriend. Only saying that he had a lip piercing and that that was pretty dreamy. Daniel just laughed for a moment as he attempted to try and place a student at Hogwarts with a lip piercing. Granted he didn’t really go around looking at people’s lips and even if they had a piercing he doubted they had it visible while walking around school. Either way he wasn’t that worried about trying to figure out who her new boyfriend was. “Just a lip piercing? That’s all that’s doing it for you now a days?” Daniel teased for a moment as he watched as Kat put her feet up on the table. Revealing more of her thighs as he skirt went up a little which was already a short one. He caught himself looking on for a moment then smirked fighting back a laugh and looked back toward his book. He knew Kat well enough to know this was a purpose just to mess with him, at least he assumed as much.
She scoffed as his remark about the Britain students, it would seem her boyfriend was an American at the least. “Come on, they aren’t so bad. You just have to warm up to them after being stuck here for a full year like I did. After awhile only most of them are annoying.” He joked but it was the case for him for the most part. Daniel didn’t really help the situation by just hating everything Hogwarts had to offer during most of his first year here. A moment or two later Kat began to make a noise with her shoes. He didn’t think much of it but she kept doing it. Figuring it was another thing she was doing on purpose he looked away from his book for a moment. She was just tapping away with her thighs still partially revealed. “You’re just as distracting as always.” Daniel said with a sarcastic laugh attempting to go back to his book. He didn’t feel like letting Kat win especially as he essentially started all this.

He asked if the piercing was all that was doing it for her nowadays and she shrugged, "no," was her short answer. Of course she liked a lot more about Lance than just that, but she didn't feel that she owed Daniel that much of an explanation. At least not yet. Daniel wasn't the worst person, she supposed, but there was the whole ex boyfriend thing and the fact that she had basically been awful to him since the day after they broke up. She couldn't just give up on that so easily. She had a face to keep, after all. He suggested the brits weren't so bad and she rolled her eyes, pretending to pay attention to a book that she reached into her bag to lay across her lap. "Most of them. Great, I'll remember that after I've graduated," it would be hard for anything to keep her here in the UK after she was done with school. She loved New York and missed it like crazy. She knew Daniel missed the states, too. She could tell. She knew how much he loved home. She kept tapping her shoes, and she looked up at him as he spoke, saying she was just as distracting as always. She gave a short bow of her head, a smile adoring her lips. "I try to be. That book can't be that important right?"@crimson1

Kat gave a quick and short no and he just smirked slightly, for whatever reason she didn’t want to tell him more which was fine with him. While a little curious he also didn’t care enough to press the conversation anymore than that. “Well that’s good, I’d feel bad for the poor guy once you ran into any else with a lip piercing if that was the case.” Daniel teased for a second looking back toward his potion book trying to get a little studying done at least no matter how boring it was or distracting his made up game to win the table from Kat were at the moment. At least they were talking more than normal. Since breaking up sometime ago they both had been rather mean to each other but that’s just who both of them were. He could have been nicer and held back on a few sarcastic comments and playful insults after the break up and it might have been different but that wasn’t the case. It was in the past anyway and besides the passing thought of being just a little nicer there wasn’t much regret from Daniel.
He laughed for a moment as Kat rolled her eyes at his comment about half the Brits not being terrible over time. She said she’d try to remember that. “Please, you’ll be on the nearest portkey back to America as soon as you’re done packing.” Daniel laughed a little as he said that, it sounded like it was a joke but he knew Kat enough and with her reaction about the Brits to know she wanted to go home as soon as possible. Daniel knew that feeling all too well, he had spent almost all of his time dreaming of going back home but that changed somewhere along the lines. “I.. I might stay for a bit longer though.” Daniel got out words he didn’t imagine he would ever say just a year ago, sounding serious at that too. Home to him was Ilvermorny most of all, he couldn’t go back there even if he went back to America. Without that where was even a place he could call home. “More reason for you to get back as soon as possible.” Daniel joked once more getting away from the thought of a home for a moment.
She commented that she tried to be as distracting as possible and he just laughed not looking up from his book this time. He knew she was looking toward him and he had already gave her enough satisfaction in knowing that he noticed her for the moment. “No not in the slightest but I do want to at least try on the exams coming up. Also compared to my Ex, whose also spoken for at the moment. It’s more important at the time.” Daniel laughed, attempting to read the same page once again and failing.

Daniel said it was good that the lip piercing wasn't all that was doing it for her, saying that he would feel bad for Lance if she ran into someone else with a lip piercing. Katherine actually chuckled a little at that, though the laughter didn't reach her eyes. "Fair," she said shortly. Then, as they spoke about graduation, he said that she'd be on the next portkey back to America as soon as she was done packing. She smiled a little at that, and nodded. But before she could make a comment about him coming with her, he said that he might stay for a bit. Her brows knit together and her smile vanished, until he added the joke about her wanting to get back sooner because he'd be here. "An excellent point," she mused. "But... in all seriousness, Daniel. Why do you want to stay here? Why don't you want to come home?" she asked. She couldn't imagine feeling that way... He said that his book wasn't that important, after she said it must not be, but said it was more important than talking to her. Still, he didn't look up fro the book. She frowned, bringing her legs down under the table again but just using that momentum to lean forward, arms crossed on the table, chin resting on her stacked wrists. "Gods only know why I'm talking to you at all. My southern boyfriend is making me soft," she made a fake barfing sound. @crimson1

Katie laughed for a moment before saying it was fair to assume she liked more about her boyfriend than just her lip piercing. “Though it might explain why we never worked out. I valued not letting my drinks coming out of a hole in my lip than having it pierced.” Daniel teased for a second with a laugh as he knew that wasn’t really how a lip piercing would work or else everyone with one would be making a mess. While he wasn’t looking and they spoke about the home Katie agreed with him before asking why he would want to stay here. He laughed for a moment as she said not wanting to come home. “I don’t have a home more or less. I miss America sure but Ilvermorny was my home. I spent all summer waiting to go back, I rarely even left on holidays.” Daniel explained, after his sixth year and he didn’t go back to America he knew this. Possibly why he stopped being so annoyed and just accepted his fate of going to Hogwarts. It wasn’t like there was an alternative now. “It’s not like I can go back even if I come back to America. Besides isn’t it that cliché thing to do to, backpack around Europe after school is over?” Daniel laughed once more, as he had pretty much been doing that already. “You can even come with me, you can obviously invite your boy toy. Trust me, I’ll give you two all the private time you to want.”
After his attempts to not notice Katie’s legs and short skirt she finally gave up and moved. Resting her head on her wrists for a moment as he finally looked over just to see how she was moving this time. Katie asked herself why she was even talking to him before blaming it on her Southern boyfriend. “Could be you’re bored with studying, could be you just missed me after all.” Daniel teased for a moment, “Yeah, probably just bored.”

He said that the lip piercing explained why they never worked out, because he valued not having a whole in his lip. "That's not how it f*cking works," she rolled her eyes. He laughed, though, so she knew that he was joking. That was one thing that had been nice about Daniel. He was funny, when he wanted to be. But as for talking about home... he said he didn't have one without the school. She nodded, remembering. He said that he couldn't go back even if he went to America and how he could do the cliche thing and backpack around Europe. He even invited her along which... was nice. "I guess that you have a point... I feel sick about never going back to Ilvermorny, too," she admitted, her tone harsh. Not at him, but at the circumstances. "I hope that you can find something here worthwhile... I guess backpacking could be that thing. And who knows, maybe we will come along," she shrugged. It could be fun. Lance would probably enjoy something like that. As for her questioning why she was talking to him, she chuckled. "I think you hit the nail on the head. I love school, but sometimes brains need a break," she reached over to close her book, then brought it in front of her and rested her arms on top of it instead. "Why did you come to the library? What are you working on?"@crimson1

“Now Ms.Kowalski, this is a library. No place for language such as that.” He replied as Katherine snapped back about his joke on lip piercings. “Are you trying to get us kicked out?” Daniel added with a small smirk. Talking with Katherine wasn’t the worst thing when they were on good terms or not trying to pick at one another. Even if his intention was just to come over here and try and get her table for himself. As Katherine explained how she felt about not getting to go back to Ilvermorny again Daniel nodded, knowing just how she felt. “Yeah, that was more or less how I felt last year. Didn’t help that I hated Hogwarts. The staff, the students and just about everything for most of that year. Not because I actually hated them, more that it just wasn’t home.” Daniel explained with a small laugh and shrugged. “Who knows, maybe I actually matured somehow with all that’s happened. That or I’m just too lazy to even stay mad.” Katherine explained that she hoped he found something worthwhile here in Europe before talking about the backpacking. Giving him a maybe which he didn’t take too seriously. “Thanks, all else fails, I’ll just return to America at the end or keep backpacking forever. Magical tent is pretty much the size of a muggle apartment anyway. You will have to get one of your own though if your coming. I’m not sharing mine.”
As Katherine explained why she was even talking to him Daniel had a small smirk. She was focused on her school work it was hard to imagine just what they had in common. Daniel did the bare minimum half the time. Only trying in the subjects he had an interest in. Still they worked somehow for a little bit. “Yeah, nerds need a break from time to time too.” Daniel teased for a moment. “Too many numbers all in that head of yours.” Katherine asked about why he came to the library and what he was working on. “The common room is just too loud. About the same as what the Thunderbird common room was like. Sadly the Gryffindors one is filled mostly with people I can’t still stand.” Daniel replied with a smirk as he lifted up his potion book to show Katherine. “And I’m working on good old potions of course.”

He said the library was no place for her 'language' and she rolled her eyes. "Library is my safe haven, I'll say whatever I damn well please," she countered. He asked, joked rather, if she was trying to get them kicked out and she rolled her eyes so far they almost vanished back into her head. "We've been kicked out of enough libraries, Daniel. Don't need to add Hogwarts to the list," she countered. "It doesn't deserve it."
She wasn't surprised that he agreed with her about Hogwarts and not going back home. Well, at least that he felt the same way last year. That circumstance was almost sadder than hers now, really. At least she had all her friends. He added that maybe he had matured somehow and she scoffed, her brief moment of pity for him disappearing as usual. The addition about being lazy did make her smile a tiny bit. "That's more like it," she agreed. He thanked her for wishing that he found something worthwhile here, saying that he'd just go home if everything failed or just keep backpacking. "Seriously? Not going to share? Well, what makes you think I'd want you in my face anyway?" she countered.
As for why they were speaking, he said that 'nerds' needed a break too. Her jaw dropped for a moment and then she quickly closed her mouth. "Better numbers than girls and... no, just that," she argued. Him saying the common room was too loud... she understood that. She needed space from all the people often. He mentioned the Thunderbird common room and she laughed a little under her breath. "Can you stand anyone though, to be fair?" She leaned forward a little, glancing at his book, "which assignment are you working on again?"
