Sav got the invite to Riley Fudge’s engagement party and was surprised that this was all still happening. Anyone with eyes could see that his classmate was in love with a woman besides the one he was engaged to. Sav was glad to not be in this world, he didn’t need to worry about blood status, or power, or anything like that. He fully planned on being with whomever he wanted, he wasn’t even sure if he’d ever get married, but if he did, he’d certainly pick the girl himself with literally no input from his parents. Either of them.
Everyone seemed to be going, and Sav wasn’t one to miss a party, so he put on his best suit and walked down to the party at the tea shop with his friend Hugo. But he wasn’t sure where his friend ran off to now. Sav stood, a refreshment in his hand as he looked around the room. A little ways over, he spotted a familiar sight, bright red hair. Hugo being his best friend, Sav was familiar with the Weasley lot and decided to go say hi. What surprised him a bit was that it was Anna, he hadn’t seen her since graduation last year. “Anna, hey!” he said happily. “It’s been a while.”

When Anna got the invitation to the Fudge & Rosier Engagement party, she wasn't sure she wanted to go. She knew she was probably only invited because of her fame as the Triwizard Champion last year, but she'd only just started going back to auror training. She felt a little behind her fellow trainees, but Anna was a quick learner. It was just, being in crowds was still kind of hard. Part of Anna still looked for Oscar everywhere she went. She searched for his face in the crowds, strained to hear his voice calling her name. It was weird how so many things could sound like his voice just because she wanted them to. Even so, she'd received ample encouragement from Lucy that this would be a good thing for her and Anna couldn't really argue that. She was a people person. Normally, being around a bunch of people she knew (or even some people she didn't) brought out the cheerful, outgoing side of Anna. She hadn't felt that in a while, which was probably why her sister wanted her to come so badly. So here Anna found herself, standing in the middle of Puddifoots, glancing around herself. She felt a little awkward, but was telling herself to take deep breaths and that it would all be fine. She turned when she heard someone calling her name, an instant smile popping out. "Hey Sav," she greeted him, relieved to see a familiar face. "It has! How is your last year going? And Quidditch?" She knew Sav was really into Quidditch, wasn't he the team captain this year? Either way, she knew him well enough to definitely feel comfortable talking to him. @sav

Anna seemed happy to see him, which he was glad for, he didn’t want to be a burden on her, but they had been friends before and he was pretty sure they still were, even if they hadn’t seen one another for a few months now. She was busy being an adult and he was busy with school. “It’s going fine. Gryffindor isn’t doing as well this year.” he reported with a sigh and a sad expression on his face. It wasn’t due to a lack of talent or a lack of effort, but they had only played one match thus far, and they had lost. The other team had just been better. “But I’m trying to keep everyone confident and we’re working harder than ever.” he added. “How have you been? How’s life as an adult with a job and everything?” he asked.

Seeing Sav here was a definitely relief. Standing all alone, Anna couldn't help but feel like she stuck out. Everyone else seemed to be here with friends or something. So when Sav approached her, she sighed and smiled. Besides that, he was a friend. They might not have been super close, but they knew one another well enough that she felt comfortable with him. He explained that school was fine but that the team wasn't doing as well. "Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that," Anna answered, nodding when he said that they were working hard and that he was trying to keep everyone confident. "How many games have you played so far?" Then he was asking about her and Anna froze for a second, luckily with the smile on her face. "I've been okay. I mean, I like not living with my parents anymore and auror training is great." Yes, she'd been thinking about quitting last fall, but now that Oscar was gone ... becoming an auror felt like the best way she could avenge him and maybe even find out what happened to him eventually. "I've actually ..." she hesitated, not sure if she wanted to actually say it out loud. She glanced around. "I've been struggling a bit. Did you- did you hear about Oscar?" Anna didn't want to pull down the mood, but Hugo was one of Sav's close friends. So far everything with Oscar was still just within the family, but there would probably be an article about his disappearance going out soon. @sav

Sav shrugged when Anna said that she was sorry to hear about Gryffindors luck over the season. "Just a few.” he answered when she asked how many games they had played thus far. Though it seemed so silly to put so much attention and effort into Quidditch now with everything else going on in the world. With the dragons and the prison break out and the murders and vampire attacks reported. But he needed something positive to think about, and that was Quidditch. He figured a lot of people would be happy for a distraction right about now. Maybe that was part of what this party was all about. Give people a reason to celebrate. “I can’t think of anyone who would make a better auror.” Sav admitted. Anna was one of the strongest people he knew, maybe even stronger than him, and that was saying something. She then asked if he had heard about Oscar and Sav dropped his head a little. He had heard a bit from Hugo and his family during the Christmas holidays, but he didn’t want to think about what it all meant. “Kind of.” he admitted with a slow nod.

Anna nodded, frowning a little when Sav said they'd done a few Quidditch games. "I wish I was allowed to come back and watch," she muttered. Sure, she could go to professional games any time she wanted, but it wasn't the same as being in school and watching your house team go up against another. Anna actually missed it. She grinned, blushing a little when Sav said he couldn't imagine someone else as a better auror. Even after being Triwizard Champion, Anna still wasn't particularly good at taking compliments. "Thanks Sav. I like it." He seemed embarrassed by her asking if he knew anything about Oscar and Anna gave a soft smile. Her heart still ached for Oscar. She wished he could be here with her, but wishing wouldn't make him appear. "I thought you might. I'm ... just waiting for it to hit the news. Can't keep it a secret forever." She felt bad for lowering the mood and took a deep breath. "Sorry, we're at a party. I shouldn't be talking about things like that." Anna rolled her eyes at herself. "Have you been enjoying yourself so far?"@sav

Anna admitted to wishing that she could come back and watch and Sav nodded. He would like that also… not just with Anna of course, but in general. It would have been cool if old friends could come watch, or if he could go back and cheer on his old team sometimes once he became a famous Quidditch star that he knew he was destined to be. When he admitted that he knew a bit about Oscar, she didn’t seem surprised. She admitted that she was just waiting for it to hit the news and Sav nodded. So it was true. He was missing. He couldn’t even begin to imagine what Anna must have been feeling. They had just got married and now he was gone. It was terrible. “Hopefully it won’t come out too soon.” he said for her, if she needed a bit more time to process. When she said that they shouldn’t be talking about that at the party, Sav shook his head. “No it’s okay. If you need to talk about it I wouldn’t blame you.” he admitted. He didn’t want to push, but Sav always liked to be there for people he liked. And Anna had always been a friend. “Um, sure. It’s kind of weird though. This whole thing.” he shrugged. The party was nice, but it felt awkward to be celebrating an arranged marriage.

Anna gave a grateful smile when Sav said he hoped the story wouldn't come out too soon, but at the same time she shrugged. "I wish it wouldn't ever come out. I don't want to have to deal with people," she admitted, "but that seems like too much to hope for. It's been two months." Longer than that since she'd seen Oscar. They'd spent about as much of their married life together as they had apart now, she suddenly realized, the thought making her eyes water. No. She couldn't do that here. Then Sav was saying that it was okay, that he wouldn't blame her if she wanted to talk about it and she almost cried again. Anna bit her lip instead, shaking her head, "I can't here. I don't think I could really talk without getting emotional, and I don't want to steal the spotlight, or make any reporters curious." Anna hesitated. His offer was really thoughtful and she didn't want him to feel like she didn't trust him. Sav always was a nice guy, someone she considered a friend. "Maybe ... we could talk about it some other time?" Some other place, where they could kind of be on their own. If he even wanted. Then she gave him a confused look. "The arranged marriage thing? I couldn't imagine that." Obviously. No one told her to marry Oscar. She did that on her own, against her father's wishes, and now she was likely a widow. @sav

Anna was having such a hard time with all of this and Sav couldn’t blame her one little bit. Sav wasn’t really an emotional person, but he couldn’t help but have empathy on his friend, especially as he watched her fight back tears after saying that she wished she never had to deal with the public finding out and then insisting that she couldn’t talk her. “Do you want to leave now and go talk somewhere else?” he offered. He didn’t really know either of the people involved in this marriage, but he came because everyone else came. Though he couldn’t blame her if she wanted to stay. Maybe this was a good distraction for her.

The last thing Anna expected was for Sav to ask her if she wanted to leave and talk somewhere else. He wanted to leave? Or was he just trying to be a good friend? Either way, it was an incredibly sweet gesture and Anna couldn't help but smile a little as he said it, though she still hesitated. "I ... you wouldn't mind leaving for a bit? Are you sure?" She didn't want to assume that he'd spend the whole party talking to her, but his offer was really a tempting one. The only people Anna was able to talk to about Oscar were family members and close friends like Andy and Irina. Maybe it would help to be able to talk to it with someone else, someone who hadn't come to her right when it happened. @sav

Anna admitted that she wouldn’t mine leaving for a little bit and Sav nodded when she asked if he was sure. “Yeah I could fancy a walk.” he admitted. It was nice enough in the tea shop, but it was kind of crowded and he could use some fresh air, plus, he had missed talking to Anna and was glad to have the chance to do so again, even if it wasn’t the best topic that they would be discussing. “We can just step out and walk down the lane and back?” he suggested. They could walk slowly if she wanted to talk more.

Anna was more grateful than she cared to admit when Sav said he didn’t mind a walk. He was being very nice. If they hadn’t been friends before, she would have wondered if he was only saying what he knew she wanted to hear, but she didn’t think that was what Sav was doing. ”Thanks,” she said, giving a smile in his direction. Anna led the way to the doors of the place, nodding at his suggestion. ”That sounds good to me,” she told Sav. Once they were outside, she took a deep breath, closing her eyes for a second as she appreciated the fresh air. It was a little muggier inside than she’d realized. She hesitated, not quite sure how to start this conversation. ”Soo ... what do you know?” Anna asked in a soft voice as she started walking down the alleyway. @sav

Anna lead the way out of the party and Sav followed after her, happy to step into and breath the fresh, crisp, late winter air. It literally was a breath of fresh air after being crammed into the party with all of those students and adults socializing and chatting. Once they were out there, she asked him how much he knew. He shrugged. “Honestly, I just heard someone mention at Christmas that he hadn’t come home yet…” Sav admitted. Whether he was dead, or choosing to stay away, he had no idea whatsoever. Maybe had had chosen to leave Anna and that was why she was having a hard time. "I didn't feel like it was my place to ask more questions."

They were walking as he answered her question and Anna was surprised by how little he knew ... and a little impressed. Most people definitely would have asked questions if they heard something like that. She found herself smiling a little despite herself, nodding at him as well. ”He hadn’t,” Anna’s voice was very quiet, but she was surprisingly still in pretty good control of her emotions still. ”Lucy and I went out to find him when he was more than two weeks late without sending anything.” She glanced over to Sav. ”Before that he wrote me several times a week. I was worried when I didn’t hear anything, so we went to look. After several days we found his camp. There was sign of a struggle and ...” Anna hesitated, starting to get emotional now. She smiled and nodded at someone walking the other way. ”I found his wedding ring. I n-never saw him take it off before then. I know I don’t have any proof, but something happened to him and I ... I don’t think he’s coming back.”She bit her lip, trying to ignore it when she felt a tear roll down her cheek. She was shaking now as she walked, but tried not to show it. At least she was going better than a month ago. She would have collapsed on the floor at the first thought of Oscar then. @sav

Sav just realized it had been almost 2 months since he heard that Oscar hadn’t come home yet, and he still hadn’t come home. Anna explained what happened and that there was still no word from him. Sav shook his head, it was just awful. He wondered whether something happened to Oscar, or if he chose not to come back. How could anyone choose not to come back to their wife? Especially someone as pretty and amazing as Anna Weasley. He looked at her as she talked and part way through her explanation, he wrapped his arm around her shoulders, feeling like he should comfort her somehow. He didn’t want her to feel alone. “Anna I’m so sorry.” he whispered. “Was there any sign or anything of what could have happened?”
