know the feeling all a little too well. WHEN LYDIA BROUGHT UP the possibility of the two of them attending Gildeory’s Valentines Ball, Miles shot down the idea in an instant. They felt bad, watching the excitement drain from the Fudge’s face completely as Miles made no effort to bite the bullet she was shooting but it was simple. They hated the idea of it. Dancing, dressing up, all for one night before going back to normal, back to classes and the stress of final NEWTs coming up. But with time stringing along, and the disappointment that Miles felt for ultimately…Ruining Lydia’s idea, the Pucey had a change of heart. Soon, Valentines day rolled the corner and at the end of the day for Miles classes, they watched as Lydia shuffled off with her friends, laughter filling the halls as they spoke of what they were wearing and things to match their date. They already knew what Lydia was going to wear, considering she never shut up about her clothes whenever they were together anyway, so Miles decided to go bold the way Lydia would’ve liked it…
With a white suit. It was a risky move, especially since they knew they would stand out amongst the crowd, but in all fairness it was the only one that they had that stilled looked brand new. Their black suit had been worn several times, while this suit was hidden away for a special occasion. Besides, Miles wasn’t getting married anytime soon. The plain mask that accompanied their invitation left Miles’ brows furrowed, confused at how to actually activate the Charm fixed within it, but with a passing glance at the mirror, Miles couldn’t help but smile. The evening soon fell, and the Great Hall slowly filled with students of all different heights, hair colours, dresses and suits. Miles weaved their way in, standing amongst the crowd that watched the students traditionally dance away until they caught site of Lydia. She looked utterly adorable, face hidden by an extravagant mask, but given the person the Slytherin was, it was expected of her.
Slipping their way in so Lydia would end up paired with them, Miles moved their hands to fit with the style of dance, one behind the small of her back while the other in her hand. ”You look great.” They murmured down to her, corner of their lips turning up in a smile, hoping she realised.

It was incredibly ironic that Miles would go with something that would make Lydia happy, because she did the same thing for them. She wore an extravagant but form fitting black lace dress with a black mask designed to look like a skull. She wore incredibly dark eyeliner and eye shadow, her eyes almost vanishing within the mask but the striking green of her eyes was impossible to miss. She was at the dance, looking around for them in the crowd. She had a feeling they may not show, and she hoped that wasn't the ca- Suddenly she felt a hand at her waist, and a hand in hers. She caught her breath, looking up at that little smirk under their mask. She smiled too, though hers was a little harder to see with her bigger mask. "And you're wearing white. Bold of you," she suggested. "You look incredible," she commented. She lifted up on her tiptoes to plant a small kiss on their cheek, though it was a little hard with the mask. @miles mask

know the feeling all a little too well. GREAT WAS SOMEWHAT OF AN understatement as Miles glanced down at Lydia. The same effort they had put up for her, to be bold and fashionable, Lydia had done the same for them, to fulfil their likes. Lydia wore a mask that fitted like a skull and Miles was sure they fell head over heels for the Slytherin again. Her dress too, filled the room with gothic vibes and theirs fitted one of a wedding. Though, the bells weren’t ready to ring for a few months, years even. The Pucey enjoyed their time with Lydia and hoped they would learn a lot more…Given the possibility Lydia would let them.
The kiss on their cheek was met with a clearing of their throat as they smiled down at the Fudge girl. Kissing was something Miles was still trying to get used to, even if they had only kissed Lydia once or twice. Affection and passionate things simply wasn’t their…thing. But alas, Lydia was changing them slowly. ”Only for you.” They added, following the movement and swifts of the other dancing couples. Miles let Lydia spin out of their grasp momentarily — like the dance called for — moving onto another partner until they were reunited. ”Gilderoy’s really outdone himself this year…”
The summer / pool party was something Miles would remember for life, every one in swimsuit, bikini’s or simply shirtless while Miles observed in a stupid black tee. Never again would they do that.

Miles cleared their throat as Lydia kissed their cheek and she smirked, not minding that perhaps they were embarrassed by it. She had been waiting her whole life to take part in a little PDA, so she didn't really feel that sorry. She just wanted the big romance she had always dreamed about and while this one was a little different, it was still a rush to be around Miles, no matter where they were or what they were doing. Since day one Miles had sent an electric feeling through her, one that she couldn't explain out loud. ”Only for you,” they said, and Lydia giggled her signature sound. They danced together and, no surprise to her, Miles was good at it. They spun her away and she moved on to her temporary partner, but her eyes were fixated on Miles through her mask.
Then she returned to him, and he spoke about Gilderoys work on the party. She nodded, grinning. ”He has good taste,” she suggested with a nod. Her mild obsession with Gilderoy had depleted greatly upon her betrothal, but that didn't mean she had completely lost all her attraction to every male out there. Lydia wasn't made of stone. ”Our wedding will be even better though, I assure you,” she giggled again. The next moment of the dance brought them closer together, their hands intertwining in between them, near their faces. She kept her eyes on Miles through the gap in their hands. ”But we have plenty of time to plan that.”

know the feeling all a little too well. PDA WASN’T EXACTLY MILES’ STRONG suit, but by Lydia’s side they were willing to improve on anything. They had already found it somewhat easier to open up to the Slytherin girl, especially since their engagement proposal, which Miles noted as one of the best times in their life. Alongside Lydia anyway. Miles hadn’t felt such joy since they successfully mastered a swift kill to something as small as a mouse or rat. But now, as they swayed to the classical music of Gilderoy’s ball, swapping partners and returning to her, Miles forced a smile down at Lydia. ”Mmm…True. Still. It’s not as good as mine.” They grinned, remembering the minute Miles introduced the ring they wanted to wed Lydia with. Fashion would always be her thing, why not have a ring that complimented every outfit?
Miles only continued to smile at Lydia’s addition, nodding in agreement with her. ”I’m holding that to you.” They murmured, knowing that even if they were told to sit out of the arrangements and plans, Lydia would find a way to weave in her influence. One way or another that is. Their hands intertwined with the next part of the dance and Miles knew Lydia loved to be close and personal with Miles. ”Tons of time.” After all, Lydia was still a mere fifth year. By the time she would be graduating Hogwarts, Miles would’ve been two years into whatever job they ended up with. Pulling her closer as they followed the dance, their arms extended as they followed the routine, until Miles raised there’s, so Lydia’s back was to their front. ”That is, if you still like me enough by then. Who knows, you might marry Gilderoy instead.” They grinned as they teased the Slytherin.

They had a good point about their taste being better than Gilderoys. His outfit now, her ring, and even his agreement to marry her were proof of all that. She was just happy that she had any ring on her finger, in a way, but it did help a lot that the thing was utterly spectacular. "Agreed," she stated. Lydia might have settled for something less for a time, but she would have demanded something better later on. A crappy placeholder, sure, but not the real thing. Thankfully, she didn't have to deal with that. Miles said they were holding her to the creation of a lavish wedding, to which she grinned. Even if it was spoken in a soft murmur, she knew they meant it. She was the queen of fashion, after all, and that talent bled over into event planning, which she also had interest in. Miles confirmed that the duo had tons of time to plan the wedding, of course. Miles pulled her closer in the next part of the routine, and Lydia couldn't help the rush of warmth that ran through her as her back was pressed to their chest. At the mention of still liking them, or marrying Gilderoy, Lydia shrugged, "guess you'll have to make an effort. Two years and then some is quite a while," she leaned her head back against their shoulder to look up at Miles face, "don't want the magic to die."@miles

know the feeling all a little too well. GIVEN HOW YOUNG AND WEALTHY Miles and their family were, all they needed was bravery to ask for Lydia’s hand in marriage. Of course, they would have had to do it the good old fashioned way eventually, for Pureblood purity purposes, but considering how much they really liked the Fudge girl, asking her to marry them was one of the happiest moments they had alongside the Slytherin. The ring was an upgrade to their mothers, since she got Grandma’s original ring and it was Miles’ twist to begin a line of handing down heirlooms…If Lydia and Miles ever had children in the future. They grinned once Lydia agreed with them, she wasn’t exactly obliged to, but Miles was happy she did anyway.
Their shift in dancing had only meant it was a lot easier to whisper into the Fudge’s ear, and it only made things ten times more intimate. Miles grinned now, especially at her shrug. ”Make an effort?” They parroted, while one hand trailed down her arm, reaching for her hand. Miles lifted it, the ring on her finger twinkling under the light. Merlin, now Miles needed to thank Gilderoy for doing something right. ”After you got that, I knew I had you wrapped around my pinky.” They were joking of course, their relationship took more work than just presenting a ring and proposing marriage. Miles knew this. They looked down now while Lydia looked up at them and slowly they moved their head down, lips pressing gently to hers. ”Miss Fudge, I’d wait a million years for you. And I’m sure the magic would still be there.”
