Feb. 6, 2025 Dom was actually excited for today. She'd sent an owl to her good friend Tamara, asking for them to be able to meet sometime soon. She liked Tamara. The two got along ever since the former Hufflepuff dated Ethan, Dom's best friend. While Dom had initially been jealous of the girl, she'd grown to like her. When everything went wrong with Ethan, Tamara was the one person who understood. The pair drew extremely close, which was why Dom liked to keep Tamara informed about her life. She was going to tell Tamara about her decision to join the Appleby Arrows. It still wasn't a for-sure thing, but after their other beater was injured recently, Dom was hoping there would be an opening. If there was, Finn told her she could have it and, to Dom's complete surprise, she actually wanted it. She wanted to get back on a broom and have fun with it. She wanted to do what she loved. So Dom wandered around Diagon Alley, glancing around for her friend every once in a while, but also not worrying about it. She came a bit early, and she was sure Tamara would find her easily once she got here. Not that Dom was arrogant or anything, but her bright red hair was a bit of a giveaway. Most people knew how to find her fast in a crowd. @tamara

Tamara had recently gotten an owl from Dominique, an old friend that she had grown extremely close to since Ethan's passing. She had asked to meet up in Hogsmeade, and after the months she had been having because of all the attacks, she needed a break. She responded with her closest days off, and they set a date to meet up.
And that day was today, the young brunette made her way to Diagon Alley, looking among the people as she made her way to the location the two had picked, and then she noticed the thick head of red hair. She smiled and made her way over, "Dom! Hey!"

Dom turned when she heard Tamara's familiar voice. "Oh hey Tamara!" Dom greeted, already grinning at the sight of her friend. "So glad you could make it. Are you hungry or something?" Surprisingly, Dom was starting to feel a little nervous about telling Tamara about her decision. It felt right to her, but what if Tam thought it was the wrong thing or something? She wasn't sure what to think and knew her own insecurities were coming out. "How is work going for you?" Dom asked after a minute, trying to get her friend talking a little. She didn't want to just come out with her news, after all. That felt too abrupt, which would be weird. @tamara

'Oh hey Tamara! So glad you could make it. Are you hungry or something?' Tamara smiled at her friend, "Hey-uh, I'm down to eat something if you are." She wasn't hungry for a full-blown meal, at least not yet anyway, but she was always down for a little snack.
Tamara nodded with a smile, "Works going good. We've been extremely busy with what has happened over the past few months; it feels like the news is never-ending. What about you?"

Dom laughed when Tamara said she could eat if Dom was hungry. "I can always eat," Dom answered easily. What? It was true! She was always hungry and rarely actually filled herself when she ate, unless there was just a ton of food around. Which there normally wasn't. "Yeah, that makes sense. Things are always changing with the news, you know." She sighed when the conversation turned to her. "You know, I'm seriously thinking of taking a new job. What ... would you think about me becoming a Quidditch Player?" Of course, Dom didn't need permission, but she was curious to see what her friend would think of her idea. @tamara

Tamara laughed herself, nodding her head, "Alright. You decide and lead the way," she said with a smile upon her face. Tamara nodded her head as the conversation grew more earnest, about the times changing and the news along with it. The ginger went on to speak about getting a new job and asking about what she would think if she became a Quidditch Player.
Tamara looked at her for a moment, really looked at her - she remembered when the girl refused to continue with Quidditch because of Ethan's death. That was one reason that Tamara herself didn't continue. "I think it would be cool. You were always a great player. You were a worthy opponent when Hufflepuff went up against Gryffindor. Why? Are you thinking about going back to it?" she questioned, looking at her friend.

Dom hesitated for a moment when Tamara told her to decide where they go. She hadn't been expecting that. It didn't take her long to think of a place nearby. It was a small little sandwich place that she'd been meaning to try out. "I've never been here, but I walk past it all the time. Have you tried it?" she asked as she walked inside. Tamara thought for a moment before answering Dom's question, which made sense. Dom knew that Tamara liked to be totally honest and give her real opinion, which was one of the reasons why Dom came to her about this. She nodded at the question. "I got an offer to join the Arrows and ... I think I'm going to take it." It still felt weird to say that out loud, especially when she thought about Ethan, but she kept reminding herself that he'd want her to be happy and do what she loved. He wouldn't think she was forgetting him. He knew her too well for that. @tamara

'I've never been here, but I walk past it all the time. Have you tried it?' Asked the girl as they headed inside the establishment that Dominique had taken them too. Tamara had barely any time to explore Diagon Alley these days and found herself shaking her head, "No - but I've heard great reviews from others about this place."
Dom listened to her, really listened to her words, and then came the answer to her final question. She had been offered a position on the Arrows, and she was going to take it - or rather thought she was going to. Tamara smiled brightly, "Dom, that's great! You'll be a total asset to the Arrow's team. Ethan would be proud," she said with a smile upon her face. She hoped that bringing Ethan up didn't hurt her friend, but she was speaking the truth - Ethan would be proud, proud of all of them.

Dom nodded when Tamara said that she'd heard great reviews about the place. That was good! It meant Dom definitely would like it. She wasn't particularly picky when it came food. All she needed is a variety of choices and food that tasted good. "I'm excited to try it then!" Dom answered cheerfully. It was obvious by looking at Tamara's face that she thought the offer was a good one for Dom. In all honesty, Dom thought the same thing. She was a good flyer, a great beater, and should be a pretty good asset to the team, just like Tamara was saying. Her eyes watered a little at her friend's last comment, but she wasn't sad. "I think so too," Dom answered after a moment. Ethan always was super encouraging. He always helped her do what she wanted to, even if it wasn't the best idea. She pulled herself back from her momentary reminiscing. "So you think it'll be a good thing? It has to be better than working at Honeydukes, right?" Dom asked with a good-natured laugh. She liked working at the candy shop, but it got boring fast, which shouldn't be a problem with Quidditch. @tamara

Tamara was excited for her friend. The two of them both had loved Quidditch when they were at Hogwarts, and they both were well in their positions. Enough for Tamara to be captain her final year there. But after the death of Ethan, both of them turned their backs on their craft. It had been her friend that she thought would go professional; she never thought that she would herself. But now, here things were...she was content with the Prophet and Dominique was finally going back to the thing that she loved the most.
Ethan, if he had been alive, would probably have been proud of them both. More so in Dominique, who had been his girlfriend at the time. Tamara smiled at her, nodding her head, "I think it'll be a great thing. And sure, the discount on candy at Honeydukes was great...you'll be doing what you love. And that's even better."

It was nice that Tamara thought this was a good thing. Of course, Dom could play professional quidditch without permission from anyone and she wasn't asking for permission from Tamara, but ... only Tamara understood what happened to her feelings about quidditch over the past few years. Dom loved the game, she always had. She nodded when Tamara said that she'd be doing what she loved. "Yeah, I will be. I think I've actually missed Quidditch a bit, so it'll be good to play again." Also, she did think that Ethan would be proud of her for starting to do something she loved. It'd been almost two years since his death. He wouldn't be happy knowing she was miserable. "So what have you been up to?" she asked her friend. @tamara
