22ND FEBRUARY 2025
MILES' FRIENDSHIP WITH DOMINIC WAS one they couldn't find with anyone else. It was a quiet one, filled with snarky jokes, snide comments about the disgusting half-breeds and mud-bloods amongst them and jokes only Irish folks understood. Miles cherished Dom the same way they had done so for Lydia, but simply minus the attempts at an odd romance. But with friendship, came the odd fight or two. It was usually based around Lydia, Dominic usually stating that the girl was a distraction, an unserious and unworthy member of the Purifiers considering the people the Fudge would dwell around with. But that didn't necessarily matter to Miles, since they liked Lydia for...Lydia. Not because of her blood purity (though it was an advantage.)
It was Hogsmeade weekend to the excitement of everyone but Miles, and while the journey didn't begin for a few hours or so, Miles had some time to kill. And a friend to prank. In the Ravenclaw dorm rooms, where Dominic slept away at the early hours of dawn, Miles towered over the elder boy's bed, eyes dark, growing with bags from the sleepless nights they had. A grin spread across the Pucey's lips, a dead mouse held in their hand by the tip of its tail. Miles lowered slowly, resting the dead mouse on Dominic's rising chest before shuffling back to their own bed, waiting and even tracking the time as to how long it would take their friend to find the mouse upon his chest. Not long after — maybe half an hour or so — Miles looked up from the book they were reading, watching as their friend pulled himself out of a sleeping coma.
It was show time. Snapping the book shut to help their friend rise from their slumber a lot easier, Miles shuffled forward, pressing their feet to the wooden floor again before walking over to the curtains that hid the light that the tower just loved to shine with. ”Rise and shine buddy.” They called over, drawing the curtains quickly.

Dominic heard the book slam and stirred, halfway awake. Then he heard footsteps and suddenly light was in his face. "Ah," he protested, lifting his hands up. He moved to sit up and something fell off of his chest and onto his lap. He looked down to see the dead mouse and let out a yell, shaking the blanket so the mouse was flung off of it. "What the hell?" He called out, his eyes immediately finding Miles standing in the open curtain. "You are the devil. You know that, right?" He asked, glaring at his best friend. Seriously, the guys were always messing with each other but Miles always had to bring something dead into it.
Dominic shuddered, lifting the covers off of him and tossing his feet over the side to stand up. He reached over to open the curtains the rest of the way and stepped out onto the floor between their beds. "Was that thing alive when you found it or did you do the deed yourself?" He asked, rolling his eyes as he crossed down to his trunk to open it.

WAITING FOR DOMINIC TO WAKE up was like wishing rain in a desert. At least that was what Miles concluded when it took absolutely forever for their fellow Ravenclaw and best friend to stir from his sleep. Watching in amusement as Dom’s hands raised to stupidly save himself from the sunlight rays, Miles couldn’t help but snort once the dead mouse dropped from their friend’s chest and fear filled Dom’s face. That was the face Miles loved from everyone. The face that screamed how truly weird the Pucey was and how morbid they could become. ”I’m not at our dark Lord’s potential yet. One day.” They grinned, remaining humble and defending themself.
Dom rose now and Miles headed over to their trunk, pulling out some fresh robes for the day. ”What do you think?” They questioned, brow raised as they looked over their shoulder at Dom. Of course Miles done it themself. They were somewhat insane but nothing was truly more pleasurable than watching something die before them.

Miles claimed he wasn't technically the devil because he wasn't at the darklords potential just yet, which just made Dom roll his eyes even more. Still, the kid had a stick and they stuck to it. "Well, I'll be sure to let him know you're doing a great job," Dominic suggested sarcastically. Miles was his best friend, but they always gave each other a hard time, that was just how their friendship worked.
He reached his trunk and opened it up to pull out a fresh pair of clothes. Shrugging on a shirt, he answered Miles question. "Well, I think that either you had a very lucky, somewhat boring morning, or you decided to have a little fun before the ghosts even woke up." He sighed drastically, "what would the little princess think? Tsk tsk," thinking of Miles marrying that socialite was weird enough. Pranks like this would definitely not go over well with the lady.

WHILE THE COMPLIMENT WAS DARK, Miles couldn’t help but grin anyway. A great job meant Miles was living up to their potential, being an asshole, entirely creepy and always finding a new way to cheat death, resurrect things. They had come close time and time before — at least they liked to believe so — but alas, most of the experiments remained a failure. ”Thank you kindly.” They responded, grabbing tightly onto their robes before slamming their trunk, waving their fingers to lock the padlock. Wandless as well as non-verbal magic had slowly became Miles’ strong suit around their magic and eventually they knew, they would surpass their mother and father who seemed to be complete geniuses with the skill. ”I’ll be sure to report in that you’re still utterly distracted with things. Bullying another fifth year are we?” Every time Miles looked over at Dom in classes, when the fellow Ravenclaw wasn’t paying attention, he was always dozing off or thinking about something. Miles observed their friends fairly easily these days.
”Second option is a bingo.” Miles grinned, shrugging off their night shirt and replacing it with their Hogwarts shirt. ”I think one of the other boys left a few secret crumbs in their dorm. Found the little shit in the common room. No matter how many times I speak to the other boys they’re still little fuck ups.” Miles rolled their eyes at Dom’s addition, Lydia had…almost caught Miles in the midst of their experiments once or twice, but the Pucey was able to run free from the situation. ”She wouldn’t think anything because she’s never going to find out.” Miles paused, halfway from buttoning up their shirt completely. Eyes remained dark as they looked over at Dom, brow raising in agreement. ”Right?” They added, fingers working to finish up their shirt. ”And if she does…I’m coming for you first.” The threat was more of a joke on Miles’ side, given how the two’s friendship was but somewhere behind it, they were fifty percent serious.

Miles thanked him and Dom rolled his eyes again, getting back to work on getting his robes for the day. They said that they'd report that Dom was still distracted with bullying fifth years and Dominic scoffed. "More like other seventh years. Only have a year left before they're all out in the world like me. The younger kids don't have anything interesting to offer," he suggested. Really, Dominic was hard on everyone, but that wasn't the point of the joke.
Miles admitted that they were just trying to have fun before the ghosts even woke up, having picked Dominics second option for their reason to attack Dom this morning. Dom started to get dressed too, his night shirt tossed onto the bed haphazardly. "Well, they all think they're better than us anyway, just let them have their phone. Or leave them dead mice instead of me," he suggested. As for Lydia, Miles said she would never find out about his little dead things games. Dominic laughed, slipping his arms through the sleeves of his white shirt. "You don't understand marriage, Miles. She'll be all over you," he explained. "Yeah, you can blame me, but I'm telling you, it'll be her all on her own," he chuckled.
"I can't wait for the day when she walks in on you dancing with a skeleton instead of her. She'll probably judge whatever outfit it's wearing."

MILES ROSE A BROW IN interest, intrigued by Dom’s words and curious to the person he had decided to pick apart now. ”Care to tell me who this seventh year is?” They questioned, being done with putting on their shirt before reaching out for their new pair of trousers and today’s robes.
”I would love to leave them dead mice, but I’m pretty sure one of them stays up till three in the morning almost everyday and I…simply don’t have the willpower to wait that long.” Though, Miles had thought about planting the dead mice during the middle of the day, but the stench of the mouse would probably give it all away. ”Besides. You give me better reactions every time.” Miles grinned. In regards to Lydia, Miles rolled their eyes. Even now, Lydia was ‘all over them’ but she still gave them some space. Potentially because…They were in different houses, but that didn’t matter. ”I hope she’ll remember our space boundaries.” They murmured. But with a laugh, Miles looked up at Dom with a wide smile. ”Now why would I have my dear Skelly wear anything?”
