Dmitri didnt entirely understand the notion of love. It was something that did interest him. This was the main reason that he was in that love room. As Heleen talked, he did agree, it was important to remember they were testing the device that they were needing to create. "That is true. What are your thougths on the asthetic design of the object." It was the right time to actually start to think about the item its self. While talking about testing was fun, nothing could actually happen, until the devise was created. If Dmitri was being honest, he did like spending time with this girl. He wouldn't call it "love", but then again, romantic love was something that he wasn't entirely sure was real. Given his past, it was easy to see why.
He took some time to mark a few notes down as she did the same, and even noted what she was saying about the groups "That sounds good. It also wouldn't hurt to make sure anyone could use it. Law enforcement would be the ones to mostly use it, but it was mentioned befroe, that you wanted the average witch or wizard to be able to use it as well." Her idea was right though. They would know the item forwards and backwards, but if the device prooves to work for them, the second test would be to see if an ideot could use it. This did seem a bit too harsh to simply say outloud though. Dmitri did want to continue to makea good impression.
When it came time to pitch, and most likely sale the item, Dmitri would happily take that position. It was ingrained in his programing. Taking money from people, and making sure they didn't feel bad about it at all was a skill he developed at an extremely young age. And this item would actually have the capability of doing some good in the world.
Dmitri was stopped dead and staired at the woman sitting near him as she thanked him. That wasn't something that he was used to hearing from people that he worked with. Maybe it was a European thing? What ever it was, it was nice, and she seemed genuinely grateful for his help. It took a moment, but Dmitri finally snapped out of his shock and gave her something rare. He gave her a genuine smile. "Your welcome. I'm happy to help" What was it about this girl? She was different, but in a good way

And there it was, the first question to actually stump Heleen for a bit. It wasn't that she hadn't considered it at all, she just hadn't actually considered it at all. What on earth should it look like? It could look like anything but it shouldn't look too conspicuous since that would mostly defeat the purpose of not being caught by a suspicious individual that may have fed you the potion to begin with. Also, for the more obsession focused potions the victim could even be against being tested under most circumstances, being far too convinced of their supposed love to even consider the option it was due to a potion rather than the actual feeling. It would also be far better if it could be used multiple times rather than just once like some muggle tests. She was silent for a moment as she considered a design that was easy enough to wield and inconspicuous as well. Not to mention all people had to be able to use it. "I hadn't given it too much thought yet, the asthetics, that is. I mean, I heard there is nail polish for muggles that tells them if their drinks have been spiked with certain types of chemicals that incapacitate them. It should not be too obvious or large. Possibly an object one might wear, such as a seal ring? The seal could glow upon coming into contact with somebody under influence of a love potion. It would also instantly alert you if you consume something with love potion since the seal would be in contact with somebody that has consumed it, the person being yourself. It would both work to alert people and to search. The trick is more in getting it to work when coming into contact with skin. Usually most potions take effect in the blood. If there is no secretion on the skin it would have to include some method of scanning the bloodstream without actually harming those it comes into contact with."
She jotted down a few different designed for the functional part of it. If they could get it to work it was always possible to figure out how to shrink and adjust it later. There could always be a slightly more conspicuous first version that was better suited to short contact for detection and they could create a more refined version for the later applications. The first set up would be for law enforcement either way. She was rather glad he agreed that the device (whatever shape it would take) needed to be easy enough for everybody to use it. That surely would include the more simpleminded people on the planet. While Heleen knew they existed her own intellectual capacities had always made it difficult for her to actually believe that certain concepts could be very difficult for other people to understand. She understood it perfectly but couldn't comprehend it either way. Some things just seemed so obvious and logical to her the idea people could fail to understand it was beyond her. Then again, the same thing probably went for other people in certain areas where she was fully and completely out of her league.
There was something about his smile that was nothing short of intoxicating to Heleen. He didn't seem to smile too often and most of the time she had seen it so far they were more polite smiles. This one was genuine and Heleen instantly smiled back but also looked away quickly, wishing to the Gods that she was not blushing or anything. Embarrassment was far too likely to ensue without her body deciding to give away half the information she was trying to hide. She blamed the love room idea that seemed to cling to his very being. Surely that was why he seemed like some sort of prince charming that just stepped out of a cheesy romance novel to her at the moment? After taking a short moment to regain her composure she chuckled. "You have a really nice smile." She smiled and a twinkle was in her eyes. "You do realise you smell like your workplace, right? It's ridiculously distracting." She said, half complaining but her face showed it was nothing but teasing him with her own frustrations at finding it difficult to focus. She then attempted to wave it off, which naturally went a bit awkwardly. "I'm sorry if that was inappropriate or something. Everything is just very serious around here. The love room smell, it reminds me of my home and friends. I've been ridiculously homesick the last few days and I guess it sort of came out. Just... ignore this part? I'll behave from now on."
At this point she was fully certain a tomato would be less red than her head. What on earth got into her? Yes, she was homesick and missed her friends desperately. Work kept her busy during the day but especially the evenings got lonely. She still owled them regularly and managed to keep it touch but sometimes she felt the distance. It wasn't easy to move countries but she was at least certain it had been the right choice. She wanted a fresh start but now she just had to hope she hadn't completely messed it up just yet. Heavens be with her in this one. She'd just die of embarrassment after the meeting if he decided to be repelled by her sudden outburst. She at least tried to keep most of it internalised for now. That probably would work well enough after all the blood had drained from her face again. She really wished the near dead corpse look had happened. It wasn't like she could check in the mirror anyway. Maybe she just got super pale? It was something to hope for...

Dmitri could see that the girl thinking over his question. His observation was realized to be true when there was a bit of a silence after. This wasn't a bad thing. Something like the design of an item should be taken seriously. It should be attractive to consumers, and yet, subtle so that the one who is being tested doesn't realize that the item is testing for a love potion. The item should also be smaller, or maybe come in a variant of sizes. Though, it it turns out to be small enough to fit in your hand, or a coat pocket, it could be used on the go, which would be beneficial for law enforcement. As finally started to talk again, she first mentioned a muggle invention. It didn't sound bad. That would have been useful for his sisters to gave, back when they were living with their father. But she went on to mention a possible appearance for the device. A ring was something that he hadn't thought of. "Having a ring would be interesting, and size doesn't matter, what would matter would be the magic that was attached to it." It could be a mixture of charms and curses, and maybe some potion involved too. "That's a good idea, but I think we should find a way for the ring to glow before the potion is consumed" Maybe it was just his opinion.
Either way, he sketched a crude ring looking shape and made more cryptic notes. He had to remember, this wasn't his devise. He was just helping out with his expertise.
Dmitri gave the girl one of his rare genuine smiles, and it seemed to make her smile back, thought she quickly looked away. Had she been red? He wasn't sure, he must be off his game. He was much too focused on their project they were working on to notice if her face had blushed, what was wrong with him? This couldn't be good. He was distracted from his own thoughts as the girl chuckled then complimented his smile. It seemed to be a genuine compliment, coming from the inner most parts of her soul. "Thank you" But her next comment really through him off balance. His smile was like the love room? Distracting? He knew that. He had honed his skill so well that he could enchant any girl he wanted into giving him anything. But no one had simply gone out and said it like that. This feeling was weird. It was like Dmitri's brain had stopped. He never stopped. But then she started to apologize. He was back. "You must miss them a lot" The love room aroma was different for everyone, it was nice that what she smelt reminded her of the ones she loved the most. "I guess, we have been quite serious for quite some time i suppose" Serious was the best way to have things right now. It kept him on his best behavior. It took everything he had in him not to take advantage of her flustered state. Why should he hold back? He could see her pail skin looking quite colored now. He smirked and closed his note book.
Standing up he took a step closer to her and offered his hand "I'd say we've deserved a break don't you? How about we go out for dinner, I assume it's late enough." He gave her a smile that was quite polite, but borderline genuine. It wasn't something that he did often, that was true.
@seph ((I honestly just about died when I red that!! I'm in love!))

Heleen couldn't help but shake her head slightly as Dmitri said that size did not matter. "But it does. I've taken apart multiple devices, sneakoscopes included. Sometimes part of the function is in how the multiple enchantments are placed on parts in the machinery and the interaction between spells and machinery that actually makes the devices work. To presume we can simply enchant the whole thing would probably have it blow up in our faces. It needs detection spells but it also needs to be able to measure and differentiate. If you toss all the spells to do that all on one item they tend to get convoluted and blur together. Kind of like a boggart attempting to scare multiple people at the same time rarely manages to get the intended effect." She scrunched her nose up in awkwardness a little and smiled apologetically. "It's even more true if we wish for it to distuingish between a potion before and after consumption. It's entirely possible part of the working effect comes from how the human body processes the potion." She'd taken a few science courses at a muggle school to gain a more basic understanding of how things worked in hopes of being able to apply it in her work. Mostly because she was bored because her ex didn't think it was smart to allow her to have a proper job. He had liked it much better if she'd have been a housewife. Unfortunately for him, such a path didn't suit Heleen at all. Hence her rather peculiar rebellion by going to school.
Then the remark that she must miss her friends a lot. She stopped dead in her tracks for a moment as she stared at him in some vague wonder. How did he pick up on that so easily? It wasn't that she tried to hide it but it hadn't seemed all that obvious to her. What was it about him that was so good at deceiphering the intricate workings of the human communication? She really ought to take some lessons from him to improve her social skills. Still she smiled slightly. "I do. We were quite a group of nerds. It's hardest on Sundays.." She said, not even sure why she was explaining it to begin with. "We used to hang out on Sunday about once every month for D&D sessions. I'm sure they still do. I just... I can't exactly pop back and forth all the time. My life is here now." There was an odd note of regret in her words as she said it. She clearly missed her old life but even more obviously loved her new life. Even she wasn't quite sure what she regretted that much. The distance? She then shook her head and chuckled. "Sorry, oversharing is still a habit that I need to get rid of." She said as she tried to toss all her previous interactions to the side like old garbage. "Next time, just silence me somehow. With magic if need me. I shouldn't be bothering you with all this."
Then he brought it back to having been serious and she felt relieved when he had a bit of a smirk. He obviously could also have a different side. Some people could only be serious and they made her immensely nervous. Still, she had not expected that he'd invite her over to share dinner. Not like a date, obviously, that would have been weird, right? Or at least, he didn't say it was supposed to be one so it naturally wasn't. That was just the love potion thing messing with her brain, inserting thoughts into her mind that had no place being there. She smiled and took his hand as she got up. Such a gentleman! That was uncommon these days. "I'd love that." She replied honestly as she dusted off her robes out of habit. "Do you have a preference? I know one good pizza place, I never object to cheap meals because they save money and I did quite the extensive search on sushi joints so I know most of the ones in the area, although I haven't been able to try them yet." She said, not sure how exactly he wanted to arrange the shared meal. "Unless you'd rather surprise me. I'm fine with that as long as I can afford it so if you choose, please no fine dining of like half a month worth of salary. I still want to be able to pay my rent." She joked. She didn't presume that he would pick or know a place like that but rather safe than sorry, right?

Dmitri thought about what she had said. He hadn't thought about that before. Enchanging an item as complex as this had never even crossed his mind before this colaberation had happened. "You make a fair point." Hed have to do some more research into the creation of magical items, esspecialy those that detect the different forms of magic. "My knowledge of enchanged items is clearly limited" He stated as he made a note in his book to research this. Dmitri's education was an interesting concept. He was for the most part, home and self taught. He picked up a few things through the few, legitamant, jobs that he started to hold after leaving his father's house.
Missing family wasn't hard to deduce, on average, most people missed family, and even friends when they were far apart. Dmitri missed his older sister form time to time. Though the girl seemed suprised that he had figured that. Maybe he had jumped too quickly to this conclusion. He had to remember, she was a co-worker, and this was the perfect chanse to proove himself that he could be good. Reading people and anticipating their reactions was something that he had learned as from his father, to con them out of their money. Even as a young boy, he could pick out the tourists from the natives, and those more likely to give him and/or his sisters money, as compared to those who would just tell them to go home.
He didn't expect the woman to open up to him so much, but she did. She mentiond something called D&D. What was that? He guessed it was some group game, maybe a European thing. Now wasn't the time to get into it. The important thing, was about once a month, on a certain day, she would get together with her friends. She really did miss them, but she also seemed to have made a strong desision to stay in the area. She was stronger than he thought she gave herself credit for. He smiled at her after she apologized. "Being open is not a bad thing. If your honest and share things about yourself, people seem less likely to think that you up to something." Some people were born suspicious. Dimitr could classify as one of these people. While he did his best to not show it, he had a hard time trusting people. He always asumed that the person he was interacting with was trying to do the same thing he was.
She took his hand and stood up. Suggesting Pizza, Dmitri nodded. She then mentioned Sushi. That wasn't something that he had too much of an opportunity to try, but many people did seem to like it. "Pizza is something that is always good, though I have never had an opportunity to try sushi." He didn't know the city too well, though he had started to explore it more, he was always up for more suggestions. "I'd say, lets try one of those places you haven't tried before." He smield kindly at the girl as she mentioned pay. "Don't worry about that. I asked, so I will pay."
