JANUARY 15, 2025 Hogwarts second term had been back in session for a few days now, and Ellie was super excited. The past few days, including the current day, there had been a ton of snow that had fallen. And finally, she had gotten to see the castle and the grounds in the snow. She had been sitting outside in the courtyard when a familiar face appeared in her vision, and a huge grin appeared on her face.
"Kinsey!" she called, after collecting snow and making a snowball, throwing it at the girl when she turned to address her. A giggle left her lips, "Down for that snowball fight?" she questioned, hoping that she was.

Kinsey Bainbridge was definitely having a difficult transition back into school. The thing was, Christmas Break with Riley was so nice and peaceful (other than the Dragon attack of course), that she forgot how things changed when other people were around. Not only did she have to deal with seeing Riley and Priscilla together sometimes, now she was having these nightmares. They were taking over everything, bringing her down and Kinsey honestly didn't know how to deal with them. The only benefit was that the nightmares didn't come every night, and last night she actually happened to get a good night's sleep, which was definitely a good thing. Kinsey was done with her classes for the day when she thought that maybe she'd take a break outside in the fresh air. She jumped and spun around when she heard a familiar voice call her name. She barely saw the snowball heading for her and quickly sidestepped it, the beginnings of a smile creeping onto her face as she recognized Ellie. "Looks like it's here, whether I'm ready or not," she quipped, making her way to a mound of snow. She quickly squished some snow into a ball and threw it at Ellie. "There!" she said as she giggled softly. It was nice to kind of forget everything for a moment. @ellie

Ellie hadn't even waited for her friend to react before the snowball went flying her way, though she quickly sidestepped as if she were prepared for it. Ellie giggled, though she was in awe of the girl being able to do such a thing when she wasn't prepared - maybe she was a seer? She shook her head from the thought and began gathering more snow just as Kinsey said that it was here, whether she was ready or not and began making her snowball. A fight had started, and just as Kinsey called back and the snow headed her way, Ellie dove to the side, throwing her ball as she did so. She landed on her side in the snow, quickly scrambling to her feet and hiding behind a snow mound as she made another snowball. And with that, she popped up, throwing the freshly made snowball towards Kinsey.

Kinsey couldn't help the instant smile that slid onto her face. She was excited to actually be having a snowball fight, and recognized Ellie from their conversation earlier on in the year. Kinsey laughed when the girl dove away from her snowball, but didn't expect to get hit herself. The snowball his her shoulder and Kinsey laughed as she moved behind a mound of snow and started making as many snowballs as she could. She ducked when one came towards her mound of snow, then quickly fired off three at the other girl. "See if you can avoid that!" Kinsey challenged with a laugh. Why hadn't she ever done this before? It was fun! @ellie

Had Ellie been waiting for her chance to throw snowballs at someone? Yes, yes, she had. Especially after the conversation with Kinsey earlier in the year, she had been hoping to catch the girl outside, while the snow was still piled on the ground. Surely she could have found Zen or Kay, but she had made a promise to Kinsey. Well, not really a promise-promise, but one that she said would happen once the snow came down.
Giggles were heard from another mound of snow. Then, out of nowhere, a snowball smacked her in the face. But not one nor two, but three. One hit her forehead, the other her shoulder, and the last right for her chest. She gasped, eyes going wide with glee as she quickly started making her own stash. Two could play at that game. "Oh it's sooo on!" she called out, giggling afterward.
And quickly, grabbing as many as her hand could hold, she started lurching them at the older girl. One after another went flying towards the other mound. The moment Kinsey popped up for her attack, one would surely hit her.

It was fun hearing Ellie's giggles mix with Kinsey's in the air as the two continued their snowball war. As soon as Kinsey fired the snowballs she had, she started working to make more. Kinsey wasn't sure if anyone would join the snowball fight, but she didn't really care. The point was to actually do her first snowball fight and she was! She heard Ellie challenge her back and Kinsey laughed again, unable to help herself. She was about ready to stand up and start firing more of her snowballs when she heard the soft sound of snowballs hitting snow. Was Ellie already throwing more at her? Could the girl really be that fast? Kinsey was more surprised than she should be. She waited until it seemed like there weren't anymore coming, then she stood ... just in time to get one in the face. She sputtered, dropping the snowballs in her arms and going down to her knees. "That was low!" she shouted at Ellie, wiping the snow out of her face before standing and starting to lob her own snowballs at the other girl. Luckily, they hadn't broken when she dropped them a few moments ago. @ellie

I can taste the danger but I don't wanna run So pull me to the ground and I won't put up a fight I'm a caution taker, but baby you're a force of nature Baby you're a force of nature Snowball fights were something that Ellie had always enjoyed. It had been a staple to her life when she was back in the States. She and Finn had experienced them together a lot when they were younger, but over the years, they had strayed away from it. Maybe it was because they were growing older and thus, mature - but Ellie had to admit, she was still having fun. Especially as she got hit by Kinsey's snowballs, it didn't stop laughs and giggles from freeing themselves from her lips. She was sure that people were looking at them weirdly, or perhaps, they were lucky, and others had joined in on the fun. Ellie didn't know, and really, she didn't care. Her attention was firmly fixed on Kinsey and taking her out with her flying snowballs. And just as she thought, her constant throwing of snowballs was quick to hit it's target - smacking the older girl straight in the face. She fist-pumped the air, just as the girl whined that it was low. She shrugged her shoulders, "We never said that they had to be perfect. We just said snowballs; those were...okay snowballs!" The words were yelled over the sound of people around them, a laugh leaving her lips. Just because she had decided not to make them into perfect balls, didn't mean grabbing snow and glumping them together quickly was low. Kinsey was just jealous that she had thought of it first. And then, as she was celebrating, a snowball was thrown at her. Hitting her straight in the face, with a giggle and a yelp, she quickly fell back into the plush white snow, hiding from the enemy's line of sight. With a laugh, she quickly wiped off her face - not caring that her fingers and nose were freezing now. MADE BY VEL OF GS

"You're definition of okay leaves much to be desired!" Kinsey shouted back, though she was teasing. Actually, she was enjoying this experience with Ellie. It was nice to be able to let loose and just enjoy the moment with a friend. She whooped when she saw her snowball hit Ellie right in the face. Success! "How did you like that?" she teased as she watched the girl for another moment before throwing another snowball at her. She didn't want to give her a rest ... she just wanted to make sure Ellie was okay before she got barraged with snowballs. "You ready to give up?" Kinsey called, tossing yet another snowball at Ellie as she giggled to herself. Wow, this really was fun. @ellie

I can taste the danger but I don't wanna run So pull me to the ground and I won't put up a fight I'm a caution taker, but baby you're a force of nature Baby you're a force of nature Ellie's rapid fire of the snowballs had left no room for Kinsey to really prepare herself for the next. Something that she commented on was 'low' and Ellie retorted that they didn't have to be perfect. They could be merely okay, and it would suffice. Sure, those snowballs were mostly just puffs of white by the time they hit, but they were enough to get her. The second that the snowball hit her in the face, she could hear Kinsey teasing her, asking her how she liked that. Wiping the snow from her face, she heard the next question of being ready to give up. "Never!" she cried out, coming up for air to throw her next snowball. She knew eventually the coldness would get to them, but she also knew that Hogwarts had some warm hot coco a second away if she were to go to the kitchen. It was worth it all. MADE BY VEL OF GS

This was more fun than Kinsey had had in a long time. Throwing snowballs at Ellie, laughing as she got hit back. It was delightful! Really, she just liked the chance to relax and laugh and let loose a little bit. They threw snowballs back and forth for what seemed like ages. Finally, Kinsey was done. She threw her last snowball and then stepped out, hands lifted in a gesture of innocence. "All right Ellie! I'm done. You want to go get some hot chocolate or something?" Kinsey was ready to get somewhere warm. The cold hadn't bothered her ... until about five minutes ago. She tried to ignore it, but there was no point. It was COLD out here and she had to do something about it by going inside. @ellie (OOC: We can end here or play them getting hot chocolate and talking ... I'm good either way!)
