April 23
Nora was a fan off the Gryffindor tower and the students she had met there. Moving to a new place always had it's ups and downs, but she had had a pretty great experience. Mostly because she came from a small town where everyone knew her tricks and games to a much, much bigger city and a giant school with many, many new people. She had been having the time of her life these past few months, and there were still plenty of people she hadn't even interacted with yet.
Tonight Nora was restless. It was a Friday night which meant no classes tomorrow and she needed to do something. Thankfully, the Gryffindor common room was the perfect place to find partners in crime for adventure. She was obviously placed into this house for a reason. So, she slipped into the room with a perk in her step - keeping an eye out for anyone up for a bit of fun...

Matt sighed as he leaned back into the chair he was seated on, relaxing after the day of classes. He had plans to slip off to the Forest later to explore some, but as usual that would've been on his own. He'd enjoyed that to a degree, but the loneliness of adventures alone was noticeable after the first twenty or so. Still he felt glad to relax. Classes had been a bit of a pain but thankfully tomorrow was Saturday and thus no classes.
After a few moments he blinked, realizing he had nodded off and slept. Looking out the window, he felt a bit relieved that he hadn't really lost all that much time as the sun was only just now disappearing completely on the horizon. Chuckling, he sat up slightly as he glanced around the common room. It was surprisingly quiet except for the arrival of Nora Kolstad, a 6th year that he hadn't really met before. Something's got her excited he thought upon seeing her movements.

Her target was acquired in a kid a year above her that she didn't get to know yet. She was picky about hanging out with people, but since she didn't see any of her friends around she didn't see the harm in approaching him. He was sitting on a chair, looking like he was either about to pass out or had just woken up, "that's my favorite chair," she greeted him, pointing where he was sitting. "Best seat in the house. You can enjoy the fire but still see the stairs to the dorms and the exits," she walked up even closer to him, standing right beside the chair and holding a hand out, "Nora Kolstad," her French Canadian accent was strong, and she liked it that way. She made it a point not to hide it most of the time, especially when meeting someone new.

"Well my apologies. I'll try to remember that next time. Matt Johanson, resident black sheep of the house since I'm quieter than everyone else," he replied with a small chuckle, his Scottish accent apparent in his speech as he shook her hand. She hadn't bothered to hesitate when it came to walking up to him, or shaking his hand. Then again it wasn't exactly like there was a reason to steer clear of him. It surprised him nonetheless and he was certain it wasn't the last surprise he was going to get today. Then again, that depended on what it was that Nora had on her mind as it was clear she had something. Or at least, maybe some fringe of something that hadn't exactly been decided upon just yet, but he was sure would involve him to some capacity.

Matt. Wallflower, black sheep, whatever. These were the kind of people Nora made it her mission to play with a little bit. She needed to teach them how to have fun. Well, maybe he could have fun but she didn't know it yet. Some rumors said the quiet ones were the most dangerous, right? He took her hand and she held his in a firm grip, leaning down in order to get a closer look at his face. "Well, your eyes don't lie. You've got a secret dark side, Matty," she challenged.

"Oh? That so? Doubt it but if you want to try and prove me wrong I won't fight against it," he replied with a chuckle. He didn't really believe her all that much. He knew he was adventurous, but having a dark side... that remained to be seen. He was eager to be an Auror, but at the same time he wasn't entirely sure that was what he really wanted or if he was just trying for revenge with a legal cover of trying to capture the punk that had killed his mom. Still, that was neither here nor there. What was here was Nora's challenge that he had a dark side and whether or not she was going to try and bring it out of him.

Oh, he was being a tease? Fair enough. She kept hold of his hand and leaned a little closer still, pulling on his hand in an attempt to start bringing him off the chair. "A little adventure ought to bring it out of you, lad," she smirked, "do people say lad on your country?" sure questioned, still not refraining from encouraging him to stand. She kept her face about six inches from his, the challenge still strong in her eyes.

"Considering I was born in Scotland, yes, yes we do, lass," he replied with a chuckle as he stood at her tugging. He was fighting back the nerves he felt from how close her face was to his, but he was also intrigued. She was definitely forward, but that also meant that she could also be dangerous. Trust was never an easy thing to get from him, but curiosity definitely was. That meant he had to keep his head on a bit of a swivel with this one. After all, Nora Kolstad did seem like someone who was very calculated and also likely to discard what wasn't useful. Then again, that was probably a very inaccurate impression that he fully planned to discard. Last thing he wanted was to piss off someone that had hooked his curiosity so easily.

"Ooh! Lass! I like that," she purred. He followed her lead and was soon standing. Good. She let go of his hand though, and took a small step back in order to be able to speak to him without their faces almost touching. "So did you have any fun plans tonight? Or were you just going to make a girl sit here and wonder what was going on in that little head of yours?" Once Nora got on a roll with a new victim, it was incredibly hard to stop her. Well, unless said victim said they didn't want to play, and then she wouldn't bother. She only liked willing participants. There was nothing fun about forcing someone to have a good time. "I was thinking of doing a little exploring of the castle myself, finding hidden passageways things like that."

"Well I could keep calling you that if you'd like, lass. Now as for adventure, I had nothing in mind, but finding secret passageways does sound like it would be fun," he replied with a nod and a faint smile. She was definitely drawing his interest and attention, but was it for a one off adventure that could end up anywhere? That he didn't have the answer for and would probably not have one until afterwards. He wasn't going to assume anything at this point. He knew how easily that got people in trouble. He had seen that a lot from just being a wallflower. He just had to go with the flow and hope things went great.

He said he could keep calling her 'lass', which brought grin out of her still. He agreed hat adventures with secret passages would be fun and she nodded, ”exactly! Let's do it. And yes, keep calling me that. Shall I call you Matt? Or Matty? Or... Matthew?” she wiggled her eyebrows at him as she headed out the door, leading the way. She released him physically for now, letting him just follow behind. Once through the portrait she took a right turn, toward the stairs that were about to come up toward them. ”So, where should we start?”

“Matt’s fine, lass. Matty is too pet-name like and Matthew’s far too formal,” he replied with a chuckle. He followed her out, not all that surprised she had let go. When she asked him where to start, he stopped to think a moment. “Probably the third floor. A long time ago there was a bunch of rooms with traps, so I’ve read. I kinda want to see if they’re still there.” he then said, thinking about the traps he’d seen mentioned. It was possible they had all been removed in the twenty plus years since, but looking never hurt......

He said Matt was fine, that 'Matty' was too pet-name and Matthew too normal. "I get it. People have to EARN the 'Matty'. Challenge accepted," she said casually, shrugging. He suggested the third floor, the rooms with traps. She laughed, "actually, I think that the dueling Professor is using those these days, right? Is it the same ones?" she suggested. "Of course, the more dangerous ones might still be around... worth a check," she suggested. It didn't take long for them to be at the stairs and she jumped on the right one. "Come on!" The stair moved and shifted, and she leaned over the edge, looking down. "Has anyone ever jumped? Not in a suicide way. In a fun way. Try to catch yourself on another stair," then she frowned. "I bet they have enchantments against that."

"What makes you think that challenge will be easy?" he replied with a chortle. She took that as a challenge and Matt wasn't sure how. Hearing her comment about the dueling professor, he nodded in thought, following her as she lead the way to their destination. Catching the stairs before they moved away completely, he heard her ask about jumping from one staircase to another and he shrugged. "They might be safeguarded, but I won't be the first to find out. Could stir up an alarm and end this little venture real quick," he noted as he glanced down towards the other stairs. They needed to be a bit on the careful side to keep the adventure as a whole going. That meant not doing some stuff that would be entertaining or exhilarating.
