Once Jessie heard Zeke mention his year again, she threw her hand on her forehead for the second time that evening. "Right! Sorry, I think my hunger gave me a small 'bout of amnesia," she said, offering him an apologetic smile. She did feel truly sorry. It wasn't like her at all to forget things about people, especially minutes after being told. She prided herself on being able to remember every little thing that someone would tell her. "I'm a sixth year, actually," she said, forgetting that she also had forgotten to let him know that bit of information.
Realizing she was just about full, she took one final bite out of her treacle tart. Jessie washed it down with one last sip of pumpkin juice before turning back to Zeke. "So, this may be a sensitive topic, but have you hear any news about Ilvermorny? Like when you guys might be able to go back?"

February 3, 2025 "Right!" Jessie realized after he had told her his year for a second time. "Sorry, I think my hunger gave me a small bout of amnesia."
"No problem," he assured her. It happened; people got distracted or zoned out occasionally. He wasn't one to fault her for that. She had been paying attention to him; it wasn't as though she was being snide to him. "I'm a sixth year, actually," she replied to him.
Zeke nodded. "Cool." He was closer to the students in his own year than those in the year below, but he knew a handful of the sixth-year kids—the ones from Ilvermorny, primarily.
Jessie began to finish up her meal, at which point she took a sip of her pumpkin juice and turned back to look at him. "So, this may be a sensitive topic," she started, "but have you hear any news about Ilvermorny? Like when you guys might be able to go back?"
"Nothin' yet," Zeke said, shaking his head. "I keep meaning to ask one of the MACUSA Aurors around here, but I doubt they know more than anybody else." MACUSA really hadn't reported much to give them an answer in that regard. Zeke had gone in expecting that he would be at Hogwarts for the year, for the sake of consistency. For the other kids, though—the ones in the years below his own—he didn't know. Maybe some of the sixth-years would want to spend the next year at Hogwarts, just so that they could earn their NEWTs. The younger ones probably just wanted to go back home.
It was strange to think about what came next. If he was accepted to the Magical Interpol training program, then that would be next for him, the first step to an actual career. Otherwise, he wasn't sure, but he was fairly confident that he would figure it out.
