february 10, 2025 Cecelia didn't much like Knockturn Alley, but it was a place where she could wear a long cloak that covered most of her face and not be regarded suspiciously. It was dusk, so she wouldn't need the full-body cloak for much longer, but it was probably for the better; Cece didn't exactly want to advertise she was back in the country. Not that she had anything to hide, but she'd rather not have people breathing down her neck if she could help it. Elaine knew, of course, but the rest of the Purifiers didn't have to. She only sent an owl to Fin informing him of her return because there was something she wanted to discuss with him, and she wasn't comfortable doing it via letter. Sensitive information was better when it was in the right hands.
She had asked Fin to meet in Knockturn partially because it was easier to get away with her cloak, but also because people in Knockturn tended to mind their own business. In Diagon, people would be tempted to eavesdrop. Here, people knew eavesdropping often came with a price. Cece wasn't concerned Fin would be late, so she was relaxed as she leaned against one of the brick walls of the alley.

So, Cecelia was back. Finley was... incredibly not excited to see her. Not because he disliked her or anything, but because she was Desiraes little sister and no matter how many days past, he missed Desi like crazy. Seeing her in her sisters face... he was terrified of seeing that. A part of him considered wearing dark sunglasses and pretending he got headaches easily or something so that Cecelias features were more dulled. But, he realized that was a stupid idea. No, he'd just have to face her and deal with it. He arrived in Knockturn, searching for her in the designated meeting spot. He spotted her from behind, and his heart definitely stopped beating for a moment. He was never going to get used to seeing Desiraes sister around. Poor Cecelia had been through worse than he had, though... and Braelynn had always been nice to him. Anyway, he shook it off, crossing up to her and speaking before tapping her shoulder once. "Hey," he greeted. "Welcome back."@cecelia

february 10, 2025 Cecelia was trying her best not to be too jumpy, but it was difficult not to be in a place like Knockturn Alley. She startled slightly when Finley greeted her, but managed to compose herself before pivoting to face him. “Thank you,” she answered when he welcomed her, though she wasn’t all that glad to be back – something she would tell Fin, not with his proximity to Elaine. Cece didn’t understand – she trusted Finley, for some odd reason, but she was reluctant to trust him all the way. “I hope I haven’t missed anything of import?” She had sent as much information about her trip to France back to Elaine when she could, but Cece didn’t know how much of that had actually made it to its intended recipient. She had been able to keep her finger more or less on the pulse of Wizarding Britain, but with the Purifiers lying so low it was difficult to figure out if they had a hand in things or if chaos was just the way of the world. That wasn’t what this meeting was about, though. Not exactly. “I’m afraid, Fin.” It was more blunt than typical of her, but Cecelia didn’t see the point in beating around the bush. She couldn’t suss out if Elaine’s motives had really been to recruit more vampires, or if Cece had fallen out of favor with their leader. If it was the latter… she wasn’t sure what to do.

Hearing her voice even reminded him of Desi, and the second she spoke he felt an incredibly ache in his chest. He was prepared for it, though, so he didn't reach up to press against his heart like he wanted to. She said she hoped she hadn't missed anything important and he gave a short shrug from one shoulder. "So far just business as usual," plus, he didn't know what information he was technically allowed to give Cecelia or not. Then she spoke again, and those words made the ache in his chest grow even more. "I'm afraid, Fin." Was Desi afraid? Was she terrified when Abigail and Claire cornered her? Was she crying? Did she wish she had chosen a different path, too? Either way, he could barely look at Cecelia. He turned his gaze to the side, nodding once. "So am I," he admitted, his voice low. He reached a hand out to clasp her just above her elbow and started to steer her to the side, farther away from prying ears. "I don't know how long I can go on," he admitted again. "But I promise to protect you," he added. He had no choice, really. @cecelia
