RUE WAS AN ABSOLUTE NUT case when it came to working on important things or areas while still incredibly high and sleep deprived. It was simply in her nature to do so, and doing things with a sober mind only brought more worry to the Weiss' mind, filling and clouding her judgement, hence the next load of pills, potions or random creations that would always be stuffed down her nose or throat as a result. Raising a hand to rest across her chest in fake offense, Rue's lips parted as if she were in shock from what her friend said. "I do not!" She objected, her lips forming a smile instead.
Truthfully...Most times Rue's sleep came from passing out. A result of her snorting or taking too many drops of her works. She didn't mind it especially as they knew they didn't sleep enough but they were too deep in their own addiction now. "I'll do my best chief." Rue replied briefly, hand lifting to salute Mina instead. The thought of being...continuously sober horrified the Weiss, thinking deeply - and shortly - of their twin sister who was the complete polar opposite to her. Sober and in a right frame of mind. "Besides...I don't take them...Everyday." Lie. If Rue wasn't taking something she was creating something...for an experiment to conduct somewhere down the line. It was all about supplying and demanding. Except the main consumer in mind was herself.
At Mina's reply, Rue nodded. Something light was like...A few sandwiches! Or even a light kebab with salad. Maybe some chicken with bacon fries...Merlin she was growing even hungrier. Rue nodded once more, clasping the spare key tightly in their hand. It wasn't typical for Rue to lose something but considering how high she planned on getting in between their meal...It was better to be safe than sorry. Rue waved briskly before turning in the opposite direction, quickly apparating out into the Muggle realm for something fairly...tasty.
Thirty minutes...Or what felt like an hour had already passed and in the time Rue waited for the unhealthy delicious goods, they upped their potion dosage once more. A few drops on their tongue was guaranteed to keep their high up for a few more hours, depending on how warm or cold Rue planned to be for the majority of the night. Walking along the long street that only directed Weiss to the Oliveira's home, brunette hair fell to one side as Rue's head tilted, confused by the silhouette not too far from her along with a smaller figure.
"Mina?" She called out, noticing her friend and her furry companion fairly easily. "I got food!!" Rue added, shaking the bag above her head to express her excitement. Starting up a minor jog, Rue caught up to her friend, slightly bending down to pet Titania's head. "Hey there girl..Been a while hasn't it?"

▲ “Thank Merlin,” Mina swore under her breath as she heard Rue’s voice nearing her and the dog. Having someone else along for the ride would probably get the Samoyed to start moving, especially if Rue had managed to get food. Coaxing the giant fluffball the last hundred or so feet to the apartment was all she needed to do now. She relaxed her strain on the leash as Rue approached, holding the bag of food over their head. Just the sound of the food containers caught the dog’s attention, and Titania immediately stood up from her statue-esque vigil that she had just been performing. Unfortunately that was a habit that Mina had ingrained in her since she was a puppy. Swinging to-go boxes around whenever she came home drunk in the early morning and sharing with her dog on a bench somewhere while sobering up. Despite all of this, Titania was still the most stubborn pooch she had ever encountered. Even the Oliveira family’s dogs when she was growing up were better trained than this one was, and Mina still had no idea what she was doing wrong. “Wanna walk her the rest of the way?” Mina almost pleaded as Rue knelt to pat the dog on the head. “If she doesn’t listen, I’ll have to give her some of my dinner or go get more treats from the apartment…” Having to run upstairs would be such a huge inconvenience, especially because they were trying to eat and get out of here sooner rather than later. Apparently the dog had other plans. Almost like she didn’t even want them to go out. In her defense, every time Mina stumbled back inside after being out, she made a huge racket. Anywhere from kicking her shoes down the hallway to stumbling onto the couch and passing out. Titania probably didn’t want her to disturb her sleep anymore, and Mina could get behind that. FEELING A LITTLE MORE ENERGETIC than she did while waiting for their food, Rue knew their high would continue to be like that for a few more hours now. It was easy to time the comedown of each little muggle drug and potion, and with the experiments that came after the previous only helped with the timing of the next. Petting her friends dog with slightly droopy eyes only made rather-high-Rue completely happily and at bliss. At Mina's beg of a request, Rue nodded happily, instinctively looping her hand in the hole of Titania's leash and grinning down at her.
"Just hold this above her head!" She suggested, handing over their mass of food to Mina. Rue didn't have pets of her own in her younger ages, especially as her parents referred to the creatures as pests over pets. But after her fathers death, Thorn was the only addition to the family Rue simply begged for. Starting the rest of the walk, Rue made little kissy sounds for Titania to keep following her, and for the majority of the walk back, it seemed to work well enough. "I'll give her some of my food anyway, an attempt to sweeten her up before we potentially ruin her sleep later."

▲ “Deal.” Mina handed over the leash as she took over the duty of food holder. Her eyes narrowed as she watched her dog track the bag as it passed over her head, giving the Samoyed a couple tuts to keep her from jumping. Doing it this way was like practically teasing the poor dog, but it was the only way to do a quick exchange, and keep her distracted enough for Rue to take control. Titania liked Rue anyways. Sometimes Mina thought she liked her friend more than she liked her owner. Other times, she felt like the dog gravitated towards Callisto more, even if her sister wasn’t fond of the land cloud. Something about the fur getting everywhere and sticking to everything. Mina had never seen the problem with the hair, as a simple cleaning charm zapped it all off in an instant. There weren’t many spells she could say she was an expert at, but specific cleaning ones that could hide her persistent mess were easily her best. Rue understood. Both of them were like tornados on nights like tonight. If Cal ended up being home when they stumbled back in, they would both have to be on their best behavior clean up any evidence of their destruction. Switching the hands that the bag was in so that the dog wouldn’t keep trying to look inside it, Mina kept pointing at Rue so that Titania would follow them. Apparently the food was more distracting than the noises her friend was making, but that wasn’t exactly surprising. They were close enough to home now that all she had to do was walk a couple strides ahead and the dog would follow. “She’ll love you forever. Except when I do that, she tries to steal more when I’m not looking,” Mina gave her dog a pat on the head as she tried to push around her owner to look at the bag again. “You know I don’t like you begging. It’s unbecoming of you T.” Not like her chastising would work. It hadn’t in the last few years, and it wasn’t going to suddenly change today. “Where’ve you got in mind to start? I don’t want to go too far in this cold, because the walk back will suck,” Mina stated as she felt another cold gust rip down the street at them. Winter was supposed to be over, and yet here it was still. How was that fair? “I’m about to say screw it and we can just drink whatever I’ve got laying around in the apartment. Save some money, you know? Then we won’t have to deal with this.” MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

SMILING AS MINA TUTTED QUIETLY at Titania, Rue cooed quietly down at the Samoyed, gently petting her head as they walked. "She's so mean to you isn't she?.." Rue added quietly as a joke, before noticing how Titania continued to focus and pay more attention on their bag of food versus Rue's quiet noises. Looking up at noticing that Mina was pointing at her, Rue continued, hoping Titania would pick up and pay more attention to Rue's kissy sounds over the smell in the small bag.
"She already loves me for forever and ever!" Rue laughed as they began to turn a corner, now not being too far from Mina's place completely. "Can you blame her?..You probably get the best smelling food, even I would steal from you if I was..completely high." Rue paused as she spoke momentarily before snorting fairly loudly. "Who am I kidding? I always steal" Especially since Rue was always high.
Pouting for the Samoyed as Mina mentioned she didn't like her begging, Rue pet the dog's head anyway and flashed a wide grin down at her. "If I were allowed pets as a kid, and we weren't so close..I would've probably stolen T from you." With a great plan of course, Rue wasn't the type to take risks or steal usually, but being high enough on potions was enough to have her say a lot of things. Rue found herself shrugging and lost for words at her friends question, considering the Weiss hadn't put much thought into where they could go for the night. But Mina was right, with the cold, Rue too would hate to go too far. "If you wanna stay in that works..But you need better booze. Remember '22? The shit whisky?"

▲ Saying that her dog was mean to her would be an understatement. Titania was beyond stubborn. Not even her parents’ dogs had ever been this ridiculous. Mina had no idea if the behavior was due to her own neglect, or if the dog was simply like that to begin with. Training only sort of worked, and it seemed like the puff of white fur preferred to listen to anyone but the Oliveira sisters. And honestly, Mina sort of understood that. She fit right in with the rest of the clan by being like that. Rue wasn’t far off the mark though, and the dog followed the bag of food being dangled in front of her face as they walked. At this point in time, there really wasn’t much she could do in terms of obedience training. That ship had long since sailed, and even if they did go through it, she was pretty sure that the dog still wouldn’t listen to her. So much for trying to be the alpha in their relationship. Apparently Titania had been around long enough to know that Mina was anything but in most of her brief ‘relationships’. “Yeah I’ll give you both that,” she sighed. That was the other problem. All of the human food used for bribes and treats. She had raised a monster. Just another reason why having children was to always be off of her list of things to do in life. It didn’t matter who her significant other was, there was no way any child of hers would take her seriously or listen. That was partially her parents fault, only because they lacked a punishment system or structure in the siblings’ lives, but there was still a lot that fell on her as well. Especially since leaving school. Rue explained that they would have taken Titania from her sooner, under certain circumstances, and Mina held her hands out. “You still can. I won’t even call the cops,” she stated flatly. Her dog stopped where she was and looked up at Mina, as if she understood the entire exchange. “Kidding. Jeez dog, you take things so literal” she bent down to scratch her head, only to have Titania duck around the hand and start her walk again. “Drama queen, I swear.”The option of staying in definitely sounded nice, considering the temperature outside and her general exhaustion. Rue said she needed to have better alcohol in stock to make them consider it, bringing up part of their horrid trip in ’22 in New Orleans. The whole thing hadn’t been bad, but Rue was right about having shit whiskey. Motor oil tasted better than that. “If you don’t mind having to heat the food up again, we can stop and grab whatever you want before going back,” Mina offered as she stopped walking. At least that way Titania could get the longer walk that she wanted earlier. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

RUE HAD NEVER HAD THE experience of owning a stubborn animal. Thorn had been the Weiss' loyal and only animal in their entirety of living, but Rue loved all kinds of animals and Titania was at the top of her list. Rue recalled meeting the dog for the first time and how energetic she was, and it was safe to say Titania hadn't changed at all. Truthfully, it was Mina's fault for raising and training Titania in a way that would just eventually go against everything Mina wanted.
At Mina's response that she wouldn't of minded if Rue had taken Titania away from her, the Weiss' lips formed a small 'o'. Looking down at Titania, Rue couldn't help but snort at the dog's response, as if Mina had betrayed her completely. "You just betrayed her! I'm so sorry Titania.." Watching as Titania avoided Mina's hand, Rue laughed quietly, walking by the two of them. While discussing staying in and simply drinking, Rue took the moment to crouch by Titania once more, to scratch her head and even behind her ears.
"Re-heated food is fine by me." The Weiss agreed, standing up again and shoving her hands in her pockets to seemingly keep herself warm. "What am I getting? Aside from actual decent whisky." Rue knew she would never let that trip go, especially since it was in her home area. The details of the night itself were fairly hazy, considering the two had spent the most of the night drinking away but still. The important details suck to Rue's mind.

▲ The dog liked going with her to her parents’ house more than she liked living in the apartment. Mina didn’t blame her. While the Oliveira home was tiny, with an equally small garden in an okay-ish area, her parents had the family dogs and that was more than enough to keep her own company for hours. The days that followed bringing Titania there were pure bliss: she behaved, wasn’t fussy about food or walk length, and stayed unbelievably quiet in the apartment. Her signature howl, while low and muted out by charms the sisters had cast over their unit, could get annoying when she was throwing a fit or putting on an attitude for attention. Especially when Callisto had Sebastian for a weekend. She liked playing with the youngest Oliveira, but there was a limit on everything and she typically reached that fast with Seb. “Like I said, she’s a drama queen,” Mina shook her head at her dog again. She was going to try and win over Rue, Mina could tell. Rue said that reheating was fine, and what else to get at the store. Other than whisky. “Definitely a bottle or two of wine to bribe Callisto with,” Mina thought out loud. “Because Merlin knows she’ll pitch a fit if she gets off work early and finds us drunk and passed out on the couch again.” Somehow that made her sister angrier than bringing random hookups home. Not all of them, of course, but something about Rue really didn’t sit too well with Cal. Maybe it was the drug dealing? The two of them had never gotten into horrible trouble, and being black out drunk or high and harmless meant that all she would have to do was put them to bed and they’d be fine until the morning. “But for us, whatever you want. I’m not feeling picky today.”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

RUE FOUND THEMSELVES SMILING WIDE down at Titania, while Mina decided to be 'mean' all over again. Rue gently gave the dog head a gentle scratch as the three walked side by side. "Drama queen or not, she's still a wonderful beauty." Rue knew she would've loved to get a dog of her own eventually but knowing the circumstances - being a dark potioneer and all...Thorn was enough for her. Especially as he was so low maintenance to begin with. "Bribe Callisto?" Rue hadn't included that factor into their night of fun, but Mina was right altogether.
"Merlin...When was the last time that happened?" Rue asked, stuffing her hands in her jacket once more, keeping herself warm. Rue knew Callisto didn't really like her much anymore considering Rue was the first person to introduce drug-induced potions to the younger Oliveira. Not that the Weiss minded, considering most times she just avoided Mina's older sister, but if she did end up returning home early...They would be screwed. "Honestly...Whisky and a blanket is fine by me."

▲ Maybe being more like Rue was the key to Titania’s heart. The schmoozing and constant praising and food gifts for the little princess was just a tad too far for Mina, since she was trying to show that she was responsible and could train a dog to act properly. Not this stubbornness and unwillingness to listen. Ultimately, it was what it was, and she couldn’t force the dog because this personality was already ingrained in her by now. Whatever Mina had failed to do at the start, when Titania was still a puppy, was why the dog was the way she was. Her sister said that this was probably what raising a kid was like, and how it wasn’t up to her to decide on the personality. Apparently giving the dog room to do what she wanted was better. But didn’t that also invite bad behaviors? She thought so… “A couple years I think. At least when we both happened to be coherent. I’ve had to do damage control a few times since then…” Rue didn’t always see the ugly side of it, and Mina didn’t want her friend to either. There were enough arguments between the Oliveira sisters that it was a good thing that they had their entire apartment charmed for sound muffling. That and she was sure the downstairs neighbors wouldn’t be appreciative of her weekend antics sometimes either. Her room was doubly soundproofed. “Honestly, screw her though. It’s my apartment too, and if she has a problem with it, we can just move to my room. I have a small tv in there now.” Plus her bed was infinitely more comfortable than their lumpy couch. That thing had managed to survive all the way from their parents’ house, which Mina had hidden away in her bedroom when they once got a new one. Somehow her sister had come into possession of it when getting this place, long before Mina moved in. “So whisky and whatever else you want,” Mina pulled some money out of her pocket and held it out for Rue as the store she had in mind was now within view. PETTING TITANIA'S HEAD GENTLY WHILE Mina spoke, Rue recalled one of their worst moments when Callisto came home early and found the two considerably drunk despite only being above the legal age after the two of them turned eighteen fairly recently. But still, rather good times between the two of them anyway. "Was the worst one...The one I'm thinking of?" Rue questioned, knowing that some of the worst arguments they witnessed, had also been partially her fault also. Rue always used to think they were a bad influence on Mina, but in truthfulness they were a bad influence on one another.
"If?" Rue repeated, lips drawing into a small smile. "You know she'll definitely have a problem if she finds out." Rue added in with a quieter laugh. The mention of Mina's room seemed to be a better idea than having everything out in the open, potentially drinking too much and passing out - thus giving Mina's sister the opportunity to cause an argument. "How long have you been waiting for that exactly?" Rue teased, knowing that while Mina had new things in her room, Rue would always be the one to try it out firstly, especially since the Weiss lived more inside Mina's room versus their own home.
Taking the money from Mina, Rue skipped on ahead, walking on inside the store with the assumption Mina would wait outside with Titania. Grumbling as Rue made their way to the liquor section, Rue grabbed a decently branded whiskey and moved on to find some little snacks for the two to nibble on, assuming they would have a few potions or two that would leave them with munchies.

▲ “Yup. That’s the one,” Mina confirmed. Just thinking back on it again made her shiver. Callisto was honestly fairly flexible about a lot of things, and with how responsible Mina had been lately, things had been going even better than usual. But her sister was still stuck up and what some would consider a bad day would be an absolute meltdown day for her. Simply existing within the same space on those days was horrid, and no surprise, but those were the days Mina tried to escape until the early morning hours and typically found herself stumbling home drunk. She’d rather take the yelling while inebriated than she was sober. Getting screamed at without an ounce of liquor in her bloodstream was equivalent to dealing with a dozen old bats at the bookstore in a row. Why would anyone want to experience that in a normal state of mind? “Okay you’re right,” she admitted, because sometimes all it took was Rue’s existence to set Callisto off. Combine the two and that was it. Hiding away in her bedroom was honestly the smartest thing they could do, and the muffling charms cast on the walls would keep their shenanigans contained well into the early morning hours. The only thing was that Callisto couldn’t help herself and would want to investigate their fun, only to get pissed at them. If she kept her nosiness to herself, there wouldn’t be a problem. “Couple weeks. It’s really cool and super easy to move. Sometimes I put it on my nightstand and fall asleep with it there.” She supposed a laptop would do the same thing, the only problem being that she was afraid to fall asleep with it on her bed. It would absolutely get knocked off and broken, if not by her in a state, then by Titania. Watching rue head off into the store to get the drinks and snacks, Mina stared down at her dog. Of course she was acting perfectly fine now that her walk had been extended by a couple blocks. Figured. “We’re going home once Rue comes back, got that?” she told her dog sternly, who didn’t seem to be paying attention to her. “Then you get dinner. You like dinner, right Titania?” The secret words combined with the annoying, high-pitched pet voice Mina put on seemed to do the trick this time. Now her dog was bound to head home. And anyways, there was still another walk or two tonight, so it wasn’t like this would be the last time they’d be out in the cold today. [End?] MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
