April 15th, 2025 Gauri was throwing a party at her family mansion in London where she was now living. Happy to have distance from her brother, Skanda, but sad to be away from her country and the people she wanted to take care of. She couldn't do much good there, though. Not with her brother thinking she was nothing but a pretty face and having no respect or interest in her ideas. He liked to ask her for her opinions in public just to shoot them down. Sure, maybe she was throwing this party to make allies against her brother, but she was trying to be subtle about it. That was part of her issue, though. She had never been good at being subtle... She was trying the whole small talk thing her mother had tried to teach her about, but it was more difficult than she ever realized. With her mother and brother there, she could keep quiet. But not she was the host of the party... so, she moved over to the nearest person and tried to be... what, personable? Yuck. "Enjoying yourself, sir? Welcome," she said, her voice tight. @vik (for reference, he was poisoned March 23rd, so he probably has only been better for a week or so.)

Vik still felt weird. Even though he'd technically been "better" for about a week, he still didn't feel like he normally did. Still, that wasn't going to stop him from doing his favorite things. Crashing parties was one of those things. He'd heard about a fancy party going on tonight and decided to make his way there. Of course, he was dressed for the ocassion and had his best manners out. That never guaranteed that he wasn't going to be caught, but he did it anyway. Then this extremely pretty girl made her way over to him. She seemed tense or upset or something, but that didn't stop him from smiling just a little as she approached. She asked if he was enjoying himself, welcoming him and Vik smiled. "It's a very nice party," he told her, a little surprised the hostess noticed him. They were normally too busy for that. He answered her, assuming that once he had she would leave. It's what most people did, after all. @gauri

He smiled, which was... nice. Weird, but nice. He said it was a nice party and she nodded. "I'm not surprised. I mean, I know how to throw one," she said firmly. She wasn't any good at conversation, and she froze - unsure of how to continue. She folded her arms and looked around the room with a shrug. "I mean I was raised to know how," she froze again. That sounded even dumber than the first thing she said. One of the waiters started to pass by with a tray and she immediately reached out and grabbed a macaroon off of it and took a small bite. It was better to have food in her mouth than make a bigger fool out of herself. She really hated this. @vik

Vik smiled when she told him that she wasn't surprised and that she knew how to throw a good party. Vik nodded, not quite sure what to say to that, but then she continued on saying she was taught how. Apparently she wanted him to comment about it or something? Vik nodded, "Well, you were obviously taught very well. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves quite well." He turned to her, a little curious about the woman who was in charge but obviously a little self-conscious. "Are you enjoying yourself too?" Vik asked. Maybe she just needed someone to pay her a little attention. He'd be more than happy to do that. @gauri

Even though he was being nice and saying that everyone was enjoying themselves, she was having a hard time thinking of a response. But then he added a question, asking if she was enjoying herself too. She raised an eyebrow at him, finished her macaron, and shrugged. "I guess I am, no one really asks me that," she said, her tone was oddly harsh. It was just easier for her to talk in short and cold terms than sweet and smooth like the rest of these small talkers. 'And how did you find out about this party? Where do you come from?" She asked. And yes, it probably sounded like an interrogation. This was how she communicated with people. This was why her brother was so popular back home, and she was not. His magic, his charm, and his insane ability to win anyone over. Man, she hated that guy. @vik
