April 19, 2025 Mazie was so excited. She got to leave Hogwarts for a while to go to the Flower Festival with Jack! It was nice to be able to get out of the castle, to explore a new place with Jack. Really, she was just excited to spend the day with him. School was getting very intense and they hadn't been able to spend as much time together as she wanted to lately. Today was supposed to be good for them. She and Jack would be able to do all sorts of things! She'd asked people about the Flower Festival and about what they could expect. Apparently there were all sorts of booths. You could get Henna Tattos, go through a maze, and do all sorts of things. Mazie didn't care what they did, as long as she got to be with Jack. They arrived at the festival with the other students and she turned to him with a grin. "Okay, you. What's on the agenda for today?" she asked, smiling up at him happily. JOHN ELLIOT CLARK

The school year was coming to an end, it was still just April, but still, Jack was counting just weeks left until he’d be back in the United States, back on his farm. The thought of that both excited him and stressed him out. He loved his farm and what he did with his family in America, but he also loved Mazie and didn’t much like the idea that she would be in school again next year while he was out working. But at least she’d be back at Ilvermorny, not all the way across the ocean from him.
Jack walked with his arm around his girlfriend as they entered the village and the festival within, he always liked this Village, but he couldn’t help but feel a little tense every time he came to it now, after the attacks in December. He was sure the school wouldn’t let them all come if there was any danger, and they had to be more prepared this time than they were the last time, right?
She asked what was on the agenda for today and Jack shrugged. “no idea. I’ve never been to the festival so I didn’t plan anything. We can do whatever jumps out at us.” he suggested. “the day is in our hands.”

The past few months with Jack were amazing. As they walked around, his arm around her, Mazie couldn't help but smile as she thought of the way things worked out. She still wondered sometimes if Jack actually cared about her, or if she'd somehow made that up. She laughed when he didn't really have any ideas for what they should do. Really, she didn't know what to expect here either. Of course, there were tons of flowers, which was cool, but she was curious to look around and find something fun to do. "I like the sound of that, spending the day just me and you," she told him, wrapping an arm around him for a minute so she could hug his side. Mazie glanced around, looking at all the things she could see. "Okay, so it looks like they have a maze," which definitely sounded exciting, "a petting zoo, temporary tattoos, a gnome toss," Mazie giggled at that one. She looked up to Jack. "Wanna take turns choosing stuff to do?" She could see them standing there all day, each trying to convince the other to decide what they did. JOHN ELLIOT CLARK

Mazie agreed that she liked the idea of just having a day to spend together doing whatever sounded good to them in that moment. She wrapped an arm around him and hugged him and he did the same, running her shoulder a little. He liked having her close to him. It almost gave him another sense of purpose. Mazie looked around and started naming the various booths and signs that they were seeing. She suggested that they take turns picking things to do and he raised his eyebrow before looking over to her. “you think the petting zoo has horses?” he asked in a way that made it very obvious that he wanted to find out.

Mazie couldn't help but sigh a little as Jack hugged her back. Even after the past few months, it still felt surreal that they were together. Perfect. She looked up at him, watching his face as she named off everything she'd seen during the past few minutes. She started to grin when he asked if the zoo might have horses. "I have no idea, but we should definitely go see. I've only heard you talk about horses like my whole life," she teased as she turned and started walking there, looping her arm in his. "Maybe this summer you can teach me how to ride? If that wouldn't be me distracting you too much from your chores," she said with a small smirk. Ugh, she loved him. JOHN ELLIOT CLARK

Jack couldn’t believe that mazie had never been on a horse. He didn’t actually know if she had ever even seen a horse in person and that upset him. They were the best animals. Magical or non. They were amazing and so clever. He could easily spend hours nerding out about horses and facts and best horse care and training techniques. Since they had already decided that she was going to spend some time on the farm this summer, she brought up asking if he could teach her how to ride. He fell in love with her even more at that moment. His girl on a horse was just about the best thing he could imagine. He loved that farm life didn’t seem to scare her away even though she lived and grew up in one of the most materialistic cities in the world. “Oh that’s a given. There’s no way you’d be able to help if you couldn’t ride.” he teased. He didn’t expect her to help around the farm at all, but he had a feeling it’d be hard trying to get her to stay out of the way if she didn’t.

Mazie laughed as Jack teased her back about not being able to have her around if she couldn't ride a horse. "Well then, maybe we should see if I can try to ride one now. Then we can at least know how much work you're going to have to put into teaching me this summer," she quipped back. She was excited to visit his parent's farm this summer, to ride horses with him and basically spend as much time as she could with him. The couple spent the entire day together. They rode the horses, tried out the maze and going to a ton of the vendor shops, taking a few well-deserved breaks in the middle for some personal time. "Snogging" as the brits liked to say. Mazie was just happy to be with him, having an enjoyable time with her boyfriend. --- the end --- JOHN ELLIOT CLARK
