▲ 03.07.2025 There were times where the onset of the full moon meant bearing the entire brunt of the side effects that came along with it: exhaustion, sore bones, a general feeling of uneasiness, and occasionally flu-like symptoms. According to the other werewolves Lily had talked to over the last two years, this wasn’t always the case for all of them and it tended to vary from person to person. Hers was usually more of a restless foot syndrome – she felt the need to be constantly moving around and doing something. It didn’t matter what it was, as long as she was doing something physical. Today had started that way for Lily. The usual restlessness typically didn’t appear until a few days before the full moon, but this month it was the week before. One loop around the Black Lake. Then a second loop, quickly followed by a third and a fourth, each time around with an increased pace. It was a dull, monotonous walk all by herself but it was running the energy out of her legs as planned. Her only company she had the entire time was the giant squid cresting the lake water every now and again, as it was prone to do. Lily quite liked the squid, having tossed food at its tentacles before in an effort to gain its trust and befriend it. Today it was only interested in eyeing the werewolf prowling around the lake edge, and she figured it was probably trying to figure out what she was doing. The first few times she even waved at it, obviously without a response back, and from there it decided to go about its own squidy business. After an immeasurable amount of time and loops around the lake, Lily opted to take a seat on one of the giant rocks that skirted the shore. These were perfect spots to skip stones from, and two pockets full of prime skipping stones later, Lily perched herself on the rock and began her tosses. This beat being cooped up inside all day in class. With nobody else around, she could also cheer as loudly as she wanted whenever she broke her rock skipping record, which she was getting closer and closer to with each throw… @sari ● 375 ● n/a by n/a MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

WALKING AROUND THE BLACK LAKE alone hadn’t been Sari’s original idea for the day. She had classes to attend, homework to complete and a certain boy to avoid. But alas her mind felt empty and her body rather drained. If it wasn’t for her sister, who told her that sometimes being alone was good for someone to destress, Sari probably would have been by Eli’s side in tears or pulling out her hair — without fail. Though, the elder Hufflepuff had other things to worry about himself, final examinations on the rise and ultimately more stress to worry about especially as a seventh year. And Sari didn’t want to be included on Eli’s things of things to panic about.
Though, considering March had finally rolled through, the Fawley only hoped that Spring would actually make an appearance this year. And the thought of the American’s having a decent look at British spring was another thing that crossed the brunette’s mind as well. With her arms behind her back and her feet kicking at a few rocks every now and then, Sari embraced the chill air around the Black Lake. It was somewhat in the mid afternoon when she began her walk but by the time the Fawley had turned the corner to finish her loop, she saw a figure, stones in hand while a few were skipping along the lake. The brunette stopped, watching in interest with the intention to continue on her walk until her eyes narrowed, realising who the person was.
Of course.
”Lily? Lily Potter?”

▲ Twenty-five. That was her max record of stone skips. Every time one of her current attempts got anywhere even close to that, they would fall off a few hops short. These were the perfect stones for it too! Having scoured the beach plenty of times over the years, Lily was positive that she had an eye for the real good ones. Though today they weren’t the victorious ones. One made it twenty, and her excitement had gotten the better of her, causing her to jump off her rock perch at one point, losing sight of the stone as she did so. That may have been the one too! She had let out a frustrated growl in the direction of the lake because of it, and the sound may have been a little too wolfish for her liking. The moon was a week away still, for Merlin’s sake! This was unfortunately another sign of her restlessness, and it was only going to get worse in the coming days. Her follow-up attempt with the next stone was a meager five skips before trailing off by the time she had returned to her rocky throne to figure out a new game plan. It didn’t take long for her eyes to lock onto the figure making its way around the lake edge, though that didn’t necessarily prevent her from tossing a few more stones before the person made it to her spot. “That’s me!” she called down at the other girl. Sari Fawley! Of course Lily knew her. Sort of. “You have to pay the toll if you want to continue around the lake, Sari Fawley,” she warned, pulling a few of her better stones out of her pockets and tossing them down at the Hufflepuff. “Mr. Squid doesn’t like trespassers this time of day, and I’ve run out of candy bars to toss to him.”@sari ● 312 ● Brother by Fenne Lily MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

THE CALM BREEZE THAT BLEW past both Sari and Lily was a nice feeling for the Fawley, especially as she looked up at the Potter, noticing the stones in her hands. A seventh year. Skipping class to skip stones across the lake. Sounded like Lily Potter anyway. Calling out her name seemed to do something for the Fawley, catching her attention fairly easily and having her respond to her. But hold on a moment. Lily knew her name?
”You know my name?” She questioned, accidentally ignoring Lily’s statement that the brunette knew would hold her back from passing on past the Potter. ”Wait—What do you mean…Pay the toll?”

▲ Was that an actual question? How did she know her name? Lily let out a boisterous laugh and slid down the rock she had been standing on, feet sinking into the loose stones as she found her footing. “Well, everyone knows who I am, right?” she asked in return, knowing that the answer was indeed a ‘yes’. It would almost be comical for a Hogwarts student not to know who she was at this point. Ilvermorny got a pass of course, but the realization that she should have started the fall term off by jumping up on the Gryffindor table and declaring who she was had her wrinkling her nose in disappointment. Hindsight was twenty-twenty, and she absolutely hated that. “So knowing who everyone else is seems only fair. I’m like, literally terrible at everything but remembering people’s names. Isn’t that funny?” The same laugh came out of her again as she reached down and picked up a few decent looking stone-skipping rocks, extending them out to Sari. “Yup! There’s a toll. And you have to beat me at skipping stones.” Her throws had been okay, up until the last few minutes, so it would probably be fairly easy for Sari to beat her. Lily even contemplated maybe giving her a handicap for a few rounds, only tossing round stones instead of flat ones. She could still get a few skips out of those ones, even if they were a bit lousy for the game. “There is an alternative fee, but I don’t think you’ll like that one that much. So we’ll skip stones instead,” Lily teased, not even sure what she meant by that. Skipping stones was so much better than anything else she could come up with in the moment, other than a race around the lake or something. And she would easily beat Sari in that. @sari ● 309 ● Pacific by Roo Panes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

ANSWERING A QUESTION WITH ANOTHER question seemed to be one of Lily’s strong points. To confuse everyone amongst her for what seemed like fun most times. ”I suppose?…” Sari trailed off, raising a brow as if she was questioning where Lily was going along with this. For a seventh year who is constantly rumoured to have the worst grade despite being a Potter…it was rather ironic that Lily remembered names but not one piece of school-work. No wonder why she was a social butterfly to most but a terrible student overall. ”I see…” Sari smiled, somewhat happy to be known.
A toll to walk on school property seemed to be…fairly stupid but Sari decided to hold on, see where this would lead them both. ”Just skipping stones? That’s it?” She questioned in disbelief. But at the mention of another fee, Sari’s curiosity peaked. ”And what exactly…is this other fee?”

▲ “Yup! That’s it,” Lily echoed. When she boiled it all down, all she wanted was another human to talk to for a few minutes and then beat the crap out of in skipping stones. Unless Sari Fawley was a secret stone skipping savant, she seriously stood zero chance at defeating the Gryffindor. Lily had invested too much time into the sport, and she would rather relentlessly keep the game going if it meant she’d come out the other side victorious. Squidy knew all about her toils too, as it had front row seats to her practice sessions. She had to spend her time doing something practical, now that she wasn’t playing Quidditch, and this only made sense. Sari brought up the other fee, and Lily brushed it off with a wave of her hand. “Just a race around the lake. I’ve got, like, loads of energy right now. Full moon is next week, you know,” she explained, fully expecting the other girl to know what she meant without really adding more to it. Did Sari Fawley know she was a werewolf? Lily didn’t really care either way, but she found it hilarious when a person learned of it the first time. Usually they took a few steps back without even realizing it. Even Cordie did that. But the difference in her Hufflepuff was that she stuck around, and while most other students asked questions, they didn’t want to know much more than where Lily turned on the full moon so that they could steer clear from there. She usually recited the rules about being out after curfew, as if she was the type of model student that followed them to a T. “Or candy, if you have any. Squidy likes candy bars.” And so did she, but what Sari Fawley didn’t know wouldn’t hurt her. Lily kept her candy bar relationship with the squid on a strictly 50/50 of all of her spoils. It worked for both of them, and maintained her perpetual sugar high. Nothing really beat that. @sari ● 339 ● Les amours devouees by Coeur De Pirate MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

SARI WASN’T THE QUEEN OF skipping stones but she had a good aim with a certain flick to her wrist. Lily was a simple-minded being so the thought of second guessing her requests and her means of conversation flew over the Fawley’s head. ”A race…” Sari mumbled in repetition. ”I don’t have enough energy to run but…I’ll gladly skip some stones with you Potter.” They weren’t the closest of friends, nor…did they ever really speak before, so a last-name basis seemed fair right?
”Do those…You know…Hurt?” Those being the full moons anyway. Sari didn’t have many werewolf friends. Merlin, now that the blonde thought about it she didn’t have any. ”Squidy?…” With each word that left Lily’s lips it only left the blonde simply more confused. For a simple-minded person, Lily was complex in her own way. A mess to some…Complex to Sari.

▲ While doing laps around the lake would have burned most of her energy, Lily was content with having the stone skipping contest she had proposed. Reaching deep into her pants pockets, she produced a handful of flat stones that she had deemed acceptable skippers earlier. “Here,” she stated, walking over to Sari and attempting to drop them into the girl’s hands. “Those ones are pretty good ones. Picked them myself,” she grinned, proud of herself for finding so many. This sort of thing would have kept her out at the lake edge until dinner time, or if a professor came by and yelled at her first for disturbing the squid. They all knew that wasn’t possible, since Squidy liked hanging out on the beach too. He was always warming his tentacles on the stony shore during sunny days. Lily tossed one of her better stones, watching it make a dozen skips before finally sinking under the surface of the glassy lake. Sari had asked her during this, if becoming a werewolf hurt. “I mean, yeah, to an extent. We have to take wolfsbane every day for the week before if we want to stay aware of things during the transformation,” she explained as she launched another stone into the water. It dropped off at only five hops. “Turning can be painful, but I think the day before and the day of the full moon are the worst. It’s like having the flu. Everything aches. But once you’re a wolf, it’s pretty freeing.” And usually the next day was a wash when it came to trying to do anything of value. Even when she managed to sleep through the full moon, it still felt like what she imagined being hit by a car was like. There was a question about Squidy, and Lily laughed. “Yeah! Squidy. The giant squid in the lake? You just missed him by a few minutes. He likes candy bars. Been feeding them to him since first year.” James had given her that secret information right after she had gotten sorted as a Gryffindor. Obviously that meant she had to be restrained in the common room from immediately running out to the lake in the dead of night to see if it was true or not. From then on, she did her best to supply her giant tentacled friend with whatever it wanted. @sari ● 396 ● seven by Taylor Swift MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

CATCHING THE STONES BEFORE THEY fell onto the ground, Sari mentally rolled her eyes, looking down at the slightly damp stones and up again at the Gryffindor. It's as if Lily had been waiting for someone to pass on by, in order to play and mess with. Sari didn't mind, having nothing really to do but didn't...Lily have exams to practice and study for? Shaking her head, Sari listened as Lily mentioned how she picked the stones herself. It led to the Fawley raising a brow, while her lips twitched upwards. "Then how do I know they're good stones?" For all the Hufflepuff knew, Lily could have been tricking her with good stones to only set up the Fawley for failure. But now that the brunette thought about it...Maybe she was thinking too far.
Tired eyes watched as Lily skipped a stone, eyes slightly widening as it skipped rather far. She took her place behind the Potter, skipping her own stone as she listened to Lily talk. Sari's stone didn't do as well as Lily's but still, it skipped pretty far. "How painful is wolfsbane?.." She found herself asking, looking up at her. "I can't imagine the pain you must go through for it..." Sari couldn't imagine being a werewolf, or even a part vampire like the quiet girl in Ravenclaw. It seemed to be a pain, to transform every full moon or use suppression methods to ease things.
Sari knew of the giant squid in the lake but she most definitely wasn't aware of its child-like name. She smiled then, laughing briefly as Lily spoke before skipping another stone, watching as it skipped eight times. "Candy? Squids can eat that?" She found herself asking, more quietly as if she were questioning herself. "Please tell me Squidy isn't actually his name..."

▲ Lily was slightly confused by the other girl’s question. Hadn’t she just said that the stones were the kind that skipped well? It wasn’t like she was going to go skipping stones that were set up for failure from the beginning. Even with her expertise, the worst of the worst could only go for a hope or two before sinking. But the ones she had handed over to Sari had come straight from the stash in her pocket. Those were ones she had planned to use at some point (whether that was today or some other day, she was unsure). She ended up chalking it up to Sari not knowing much about stone skipping. “Because they are? Flat stones around that size tend to work the best. Obviously you have to be pretty good at throwing them too, or you won’t get their full potential.” Her own strength, mostly thanks to a little werewolf boost, was enough to put force onto the rocks to get them to go far. Plus she had years of experience doing it. On the topic of being a werewolf, Lily stopped her next throw midway, letting the stone fly into the water with an uncharacteristic splash. It was a solid question, one that she had never really been asked before. Most people just accepted that werewolves drank the wolfsbane and that was it. “The potion itself isn’t painful. It doesn’t taste the best, but if you try to mask it with something else, it’ll throw the whole thing off and it won’t work.” As for the pain part, she simply shrugged and threw another stone into the water. It still wasn’t as good as the first one. “I’ve gotten used to it, I suppose. Sort of have to go through it every month no matter what. It’s either take the potion and sleep it off or go kind of crazy.” While she enjoyed the running free part of an unhampered werewolf, she finally understood the reason why they were supposed to drink it: it had nothing to do with them, more so the safety of the public. The last thing she wanted to do was go on a rampage in the middle of London. “Well, Squidy is my name for him. And yes, he can eat candy.” Why did people always have such a hard time understanding that? Giant squids could have a sweet tooth just like people could. “And tossing him candy means he’ll let me scratch his tentacles when he’s sunbathing. I like to think I’ve trained him well.” Lily tossed another stone, this one skipping thirteen times. @sari ● 435 ● Scattering The Ashes by Trivium MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

HAVING A DEBATE ON THE best skipping stones wasn't how Sari had planned her day but she enjoyed it nevertheless. Lily was a fun person to 'argue' with, and with the Gryffindor's next response, Sari's lips twitched upwards into a small smile. They were really arguing over skipping stones. "I see..." Sari's eyes narrowed down at the stones and up again at Lily. "I'll believe you for now..." The brunette's small smile grew into a wider one and again she waited for Lily to skip a stone.
Eyes watched as Lily's arm stopped, watching as the stone left her hand and ended in the water with a loud splash. Kind of a crappy skip but Sari didn't know much about skips anyway. "So its not painful to drink at all?..." Sari had heard a lot of things about wolfsbane, but it was always best to ask the actual werewolves around. "Which do you generally...prefer? Like...Can you keep drinking wolfsbane every month?..."
Sari's eyes slightly widened at hearing the name once more, while her hand lifted to gently face-palm herself. "Out of all names...Why Squidy?" Sari questioned, looking up at the Potter in all seriousness now. "So he's...Actually friendly with you?"

▲ “I’m unbelievably trustworthy, you know,” Lily smirked, slightly full of herself at the moment because she knew she was a skilled stone skipper deep down. She was sure there were multitudes of strange rumors and conversations about her out there. It mostly came with being a Potter, and her parents had prepared her as much as they could for that. James had no problems with it either, but Albus definitely seemed to get sore whenever he was lumped together with the rest of them. Something about individuality, or whatever. Her brother was silly, because he could still be both a Potter and himself. They didn’t have to go hand in hand. Lily liked to think she did a pretty good job of differentiating between the two. So when it came to her believability about things in general, she sometimes wondered if other people’s hesitation was due to her as a person, or because people were wary about getting lumped in with a Potter. Thankfully having so many family members around sort of nullified that and provided her with friends regardless; and it wasn’t like people whispering around her really affected her at all. Lily sort of wanted to inquire about what wouldn’t make her believable, purely for her own interest, but decided that the wolfsbane discussion was way cooler than that. “Nope! Turning does, no matter what, but the potion just makes you sleepy during the night if it works correctly.” She had yet to have it not work, only because it had been drilled in her head the last few years how important it was to drink the correct dosage each day and keep herself safe during the night. Apparently running free was frowned upon, unless she was out in the woods by herself, without anyone else around. Even then, taking the potion was kept track of and she was on the register as a werewolf. The Ministry would know if she slacked off. Sari then asked which she preferred, and that caused Lily to pause on her throw again. That was a really excellent question! “There’s nothing like being able to run free, but when you think about it, I really don’t have any control over anything that happens as a werewolf. It’s sort of unfair, if you ask me. Still fun, but it would have been cooler to know what I was doing the whole night.” It usually consisted of a lot of running and then falling asleep. So there really wasn’t much difference at that point between taking the potion and not. For safety reasons, she went with the former. “Because he’s a squid, duh,” Lily said, matter-of-factly, as she tossed another stone across the water. Why was everyone always confused about her naming decisions? Calling a giant squid, Squidy, made sense to her. “Well…yeah? I feed him chocolate bars and he doesn’t bite my hand off, so I guess we have a friendly relationship.” Even if he did chomp a finger or two off, that probably wouldn’t stop her from giving him more candy. It wasn’t like he was totally in control of where her hand was in his mouth. All he knew was she had chocolate, and to chew once it was in her mouth. @sari ● 541 ● Song by Artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

TRUSTWORTHY WAS THE LAST WORD Sari would ever use for Lily. Sure she had energy to her, a little bit of dumbness or maybe a lot and was...easy to speak to...But trustworthy? The brunette needed to know her just a little more before agreeing to such a thing. She was different from her siblings, evident from the first ever day the Fawley met her but surprisingly...Sari liked how different she was. It was...Refreshing.
In interest from Lily's reply, Sari's brows rose upwards, resting shortly after. She was more than interested, rather intrigued from it all, how students and adults alike had to endure such things. "So...The potion makes you sleepy? Do you still turn regardless?" It sounded like a dumb question but the more Lily spoke the more interested the Fawley became. "Is there a set dosage? Will too little turn you? Too much hurt you?" All these questions rambled out of her lips fairly quickly and the brunette took a quick pause, certain she was making Lily either uncomfortable or confused with the number of questions she had. In response to what she preferred, Sari noticed that the Gryffindor took her time with her throw as if she had to think about her answer as a whole.
"I've heard...That upon turning or shifting whichever...terminology you're more comfortable with...You..Well you don't remember anything?" So if Lily had run off carelessly into the night and attacked someone she loved...She might of not remembered it at all. "That's...not true is it?"
Squidy was an odd name for a squid - at least in Sari's opinion. It was like obtaining a cat or a dog and naming them...Cat. Or Dog. Why would anyone do that? She couldn't help but let a quiet laugh out at the girl's response though, noting how serious she sounded while throwing the stones into the water. They skipped for a few seconds before making a faint 'plop' sound once they began to sink. "Chocolate?...Squids can eat that?" Had her head been under a rock all her life? "I'm sorry I've just...Never even seen the Squid...Or really been around here."

▲ There were so many great questions about wolfsbane! Lily always liked answering them when people had questions, and Sari was certainly curious about the whole werewolf process. Sometimes people were a little apprehensive with her when it came to that, probably because of the stigma that surrounded a lot of the community in the past, but she never had any problem with dispelling rumors. “It’s all set. Have to take the correct portion every day the week before the full moon. If anything is off in the potion, then it won’t work at all when the moon arrives,” Lily explained as she spun a couple rocks around in the palm of her hand. “But there are some really cool potioneers that keep up with all the orders for it, and get it to us in time every month. If they didn’t I’d be running loose every month or locked up behind bars,” she let out a loud, screechy laugh at the thought of the potion not working. It hadn’t happened yet, though she was sure there were safety measures in place at the castle in the off chance something happened. The rooms she and Adrian were usually relegated to had thick iron doors and were in the dungeons, but had unbelievably comfortable beds in them too. She couldn’t really complain about having to sleep somewhere different once a month. “I’m still achy whether I take the potion or not. And the whole week before sucks. I get really jittery and need to be doing something. Which is why I’m like this right now.” Her endless laps around the lake and then the aggressive game of stone skipping was all because she needed to exhaust herself before curfew. To some it probably seemed like more of her usual, but Lily was acutely aware of the differences in her energy levels pre-full moon and her normal. Sometimes she wished she could barely move in the days leading up to, because then she would at least have an excuse to not go to class. Instead she was forced to sit still and try not to bounce around the room like a maniac. It was hard enough normally. “And usually the day after is pretty draining and sore. But you get used to it.”She still couldn’t understand how Squidy liking chocolate wasn’t believable.
