April Today Rachel and Travis were going out and she was so excited! She wasn't entirely sure where they were going, but she couldn't wait to do something with him. Sure, they did jobs together often and could wander when they wanted, but Travis seemed to have something specific in mind today. He told her to wear something she could be comfortable in and to be prepared to get wet. Rachel wasn't a big fan of swimming, but she hadn't ever told anyone that before, not even Travis. She'd always managed to get out of swimming or anything like it. She just waded or said she wasn't in the mood. So far, Travis hadn't made any comment about it, which meant he likely didn't know. He wasn't one to skirt around a problem. She finished getting ready and walked into their room. "Trav, you ready to go?" she asked curiously, glancing around to see where he was. @travis

Life was different since joining the Purifiers. Travis hated admitting it, but since working with them, life had gotten easier. The pair was no longer t forced to hide in an abandoned cottage, nor were they looking over their shoulder every moment day and night. Travis knew that getting comfortable was the number one mistake they could make while on the run, but it was a great feeling not having to hide.
Recently while on a job with the Purifiers, Travis had noticed a secluded lake nearby where Muggles seemed to frequent on the weekends. Today was a weekday, and late afternoon, he figured they would check it out. Hopefully no one would be around and they could enjoy some time alone. Travis had never been an 'outdoorsy' type of guy, but since getting out of Azkaban he had a newfound love for sunshine and fresh air since breaking out of his concrete cage.
As Rachel came into the bedroom, he was just getting ready to ask her the same question. Travis looped his backpack stuffed two towels and snacks lazily through one arm, "I'm ready when you are." he told her easily, lips twitching upwards into the tiniest of smiles. "Did ya bring something to swim in?" the man asked her, planting a kiss on her temple.

Rachel smiled as she looked at Travis. Gone was the almost starved look he had when he first got out of Azkaban. He was much more filled out now, back to his strong self and she knew that she'd changed as well. Rachel looked to the ceiling, rolling her eyes when he said he was ready if she was. Travis didn't normally take long to get ready, but neither did she. In fact, Rach often saw it as a sort of competition between the two of them, seeing who could be ready to leave first. "Of course I'm ready," she told him casually, though he likely knew that just by looking at her. She lifted an eyebrow at his question, though she couldn't hide the smile when he kissed her temple. She loved being close to him again. "Isn't this good enough?" Rachel gestured to her outfit of shorts and a t-shirt. She was going for a "normal" outfit today, so if anyone were to see them, they wouldn't think anything of her. @travis

Travis couldn’t hide the small smirk and chuckle when she insisted that she was ready. She didn’t look ready to him, but whatever Rachel said would go. Travis wasn’t one to pry about things.
Tilting his head to the side, he shrugged his shoulders upwards, “If you don’t mind getting your clothes wet” he answered her knowingly, unable to resist a raised brow. A part of Travis was unsure if she had a swim suit these days, he couldn’t remember a time they had ever gone swimming in the past, even before Azkaban. ”Whatever you say, babe.” he chuckled again, grabbing for the doorknob with the backpack slung over his shoulder, curious if she’d change her mind about her attire.

Rachel knew that Travis was laughing at her a little bit, but she didn't care. She could swim in these if she wanted to, which she didn't. In all honesty, there was barely a chance that she would actually end up swimming today. Her fear of water would stop her, even if she did want to try, which she didn't really. She smiled over at Trav, "I don't mind. Besides, it's not like I actually have a swimsuit or anything." That was on purpose, to keep her from feeling the need to swim. "Isn't the focus us being here and having fun together," she told him with a smirk. "Now are we going to stay here talking, or leave?" Rachel asked, right before he grabbed the doorknob. She stepped up behind him, reaching to take his now-free hand. Whatever they ended up doing together, this was going to be fun. @travis

Travis chuckled when Rachel asked him if he wanted to stand around and talk in the doorway a little longer. His head instatently cocked to the side and he stared at the blonde, and then the clock - she had to know he was already prepared with the smart ass response to that. His lips pursed in dramatic thought. "I'm down to fight about it for a little bit if ya want." he jested tauntingly, a playful smile pulling at the corner of his lips.
"Okay, lets go." he pushed the door open and locked it, already knowing that she'd be giving him the death glare if he bullshited any longer. The backpack was still slung over his shoulder as he reached for Rachel's hand as they made their way down the path behind their home, "The lake was right around the corner, after the curve." he told her, confident on where it was because he truly thought the water looking inviting as they passed by. There was even a tire swing. As they kept a good stride, Travis turned to Rachel and asked, "When was the last time you swam? I haven't been in years." he stated thoughtfully, enjoying the sunshine on his skin.

Rachel lifted an eyebrow as he teased her right back. Travis was such a punk, but she loved him for it. Even more than that, she loved that fact that he was feeling comfortable enough with himself that he treated her that way. He was relaxed enough after everything that happened, which in and of itself was a miracle. The nightmares of Azkaban were starting to leave them and she was grateful. "I'd rather have some fun, wherever you're planning on taking me. If you'd rather fight instead, I guess we could do that ..." she trailed off. He led the way out of the door and Rachel followed, smiling now. She was ready for a day with him. He took her hand and she glanced over at him, tugging on it a little bit. "Oh, so we're going to the Lake, huh?" she teased with a smile. Of course, she figured it was something like that, since he obviously wanted to get wet. Rachel shrugged at his question. "Ages. I actually can't remember the last time." Okay, so that was a bit of a lie, but it was fine. She remembered the last time she went swimming. It had been her first time and she hated it. She'd almost died. @travis

Travis challenged her, only for a moment before allowing his expression to melt into a look of adoration. No words were needed. Their petty play fights were usually brief and quick, as they should be. They were out the door in no time. The lake was within reach after a quick couple of moments. He could smell the water and the birds were chirping in the trees. This was a great idea. Travis had never been one for the great outdoors, but Azkaban gave him a new appreciation on a lot of things.
Rachel answered his question that she hadn't been swimming in years. He nodded in agreement because it had been about the same for him. As he looked out at the vast space, the water sparkled, making it look so inviting. Travis scratched his chin in thought, "Lakes are pretty gross but I'm down to get in the water because it looks nice." he mused, kicking his shoes off as soon as they reached the sand. Travis dropped the bag near a fallen down tree and tore off his shirt, enjoying the sunshine on his skin immediately, "Come on babe, lets get in" he encouraged her, kind of trying to hide the excitement from his voice. Travis was so tired of being cooped up inside hiding, it was nice to actually get out.

Rachel loved it when Travis looked at her the way he was now. She thought she'd never see that expression on his face again, or feel his hand in hers. Even the simplest things now had the power to make her almost giddy with joy. She was trying to get used to it, but as long as she was with him she was willing to let it take as much time as necessary. Travis looked at the water seriously and Rachel couldn't help but grin at the contemplating look on his face. She wrinkled his nose. "Lakes aren't just gross. They're disgusting." She was going to continue, but he was already running forward, kicking off his shoes and taking off his shirt. Rachel rolled her eyes, even as she smiled. She loved seeing him like this. She followed him, her skin tingling at the idea of jumping in the water like she knew he was going to. She couldn't do it. "I ... think I'm going to start off just wading," she told him with a casual shrug. He didn't have to know that was all she planned on doing. "That water looks really dirty." It actually didn't look too bad, but this was the fear talking. She couldn't actually swim. She didn't know how to and she was terrified. She just didn't want to say that. @travis

Travis wasn't normally one to show excitement for anything really. It took a lot to get Travis excited. Getting outside with the love of his life was a pretty good reason to be happy though. As she expressed that lakes weren't gross, they were disgusting, he smirked. Honestly he agreed, never have been an outdoorsy person until after his new life out of Azkaban. "Sound like you're scared.." he sang to her, splashing water towards her annoyingly. Hey, if you couldn't annoy the person you loved the most, why were you even together? Travis started towards her with an animated menacing face, "It's okay I'll just make you!" he demanded playfully, kicking water towards her and wrapping his arms around her small frame to pull her toward the deeper water.
After knowing Rachel for almost half of his life, he never learned that she didn't know how to swim.

Rachel rolled her eyes when Travis said she was scared. He was dead on, but there was no way she was going to tell him that. She was too prideful ... and embarrassed. Besides, it wasn't like he was going to pull her into the water. Sure, it was highly likely that the two of them were about to have a water fight, but the most he'd ever done was splash her. She splashed him back as he approached her, laughing despite herself. Wow, it was ridiculous how much she loved him. She was so busy splashing him that his words didn't register until his arms were already wrapped around her and he was pulling her deeply. She froze for a second and then started squirming in his arms. "No! Travis, I'm not in the mood to go all the way out there right now," she protested, trying to keep her tone light despite the fear that was starting to enter her voice. She squirmed more, a little annoyed at how good of a grip on her he had right now. "Trav! Trav, come on," she argued some more, her voice slowly starting to rise in pitch. @travis

As Travis pulled her toward him into the deeper water, he could hear the annoyance in Rachel's voice. She was cute when she tensed up and protested, though he knew the behavior was annoying and childish. It never crossed his mind that she didn't know how to swim. After all of the years they have known each other, they had never gone swimming before.
Rachel squirmed away from him and he swam away from her into the deeper water, chuckling and shaking his head back and forth as if she were no fun, "Jeeze, do you not know how to swim or something?" he teased in a judgemental tone, meant to be taken as a joke, sending a splash of water in her direction. He was about to feel like a real dick.

Travis pulled her deeper, though not to the deepest part of the lake and Rachel fought to not let her fear show too much. She didn't want to appear weak. She didn't want Travis to see yet another thing she struggled with. She just wanted to enjoy her time with him, but she couldn't. Not when she was supposed to swim. He finally released her and Rachel hurried back to the shallower end of the pool, freezing when he asked if she knew how to swim, and flinching at the judgmental tone of his voice. Did he know? Did he try to pull her into the water on purpose? She slowly turned to face him, at least relieved that she was in a shallower part now. She met his eyes with her own fear-filled ones and slowly shook her head, meaning to show that she didn't know how to swim. If he would catch that. @travis

Travis wasn't expecting her to come out and admit to not being able to swim like that. The look in her eyes was scared. A part of him deep down felt instant guilt for pulling her into the water and making her uncomfortable like that. To be fair he couldn't remember a time they had ever been in the water together like that so it almost made sense.
"Oh, shit." he sighed, "I'm sorry babe. I didn't know." Travis told her quickly, lips forming a straight line as he swam over to her in the shallower water. "I wouldn't have done that if I had known." he admitted, "Why didn't you tell me?" the man asked her quickly. His tone wasn't angry but it was as if he had found a new discovery. Travis never realized that more people in the world that he knew probably didn't know how to swim. A concept he felt a little silly but when scared of water it kind of made sense.

Rachel didn't know what to do. She didn't want to tell Travis about her fear. She hated feeling weak in front of him, hated the fact that she had such a stupid weakness. She shouldn't be afraid of water or swimming. She hated that she couldn't just get over it. She'd tried many times, it just never actually worked. He apologized, saying he didn't know, which made complete sense. She'd worked to keep it from him. "I know," she whispered when he promised that he wouldn't have done it if he knew. "I ... I didn't want you to know. I didn't want anyone to know," Rachel whispered, looking away. "I hate feeling weak," she added after a moment. She hated it with anyone, but especially with Travis. Probably in part because of the nightmares. She knew it was ridiculous, but she still worried he'd leave her ... or she'd lose him. That he'd find someone better than her. She didn't say that though. "I'm sorry," her voice was feather-soft. @travis
