Graduation, 2025 It was difficult, if not impossible, to put into words how it felt to be graduating from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. All around her were her classmates. Some of them were the people with whom she had attended the school since their very first year, while others had trickled in along the way. Sami wasn't sure how many of the Americans had plans to stay in Britain or Ireland afterwards, though the Ministry-imposed quarantine meant that they had little choice.
It had been years since Sami had boarded one of the little boats that had taken them all to the castle from the Hogwarts Express, and it felt silly to feel so emotional about it. She didn't know what she was going to do once she left, even as scores of her peers received job offers and internships precisely where they wanted to be in life.
She was far from the same person that she had been in September of 2018. Even looking around as she and her classmates filed into what was roughly a queue, she found it hard to believe how much they had all changed. Though they might have become adults in the eyes of the Ministry at the age of seventeen, they were certainly about to become adults then.
When it came her turn to step into an enchanted boat, Sami was careful to watch her footing. It was a tighter fit than she remembered from when she was eleven. She sat down quickly, the lake just to her right, as the next person boarded. She looked over at them and forced a tight-lipped smile. "This doesn't feel real," she admitted quietly, looking back out to the water.

TIME HAD FLOWN SO FAST for the Goyle. One moment she remembered Winter break and the chaos around Azkaban, Gilderoy’s ball and how she got caught, in a joint-enterprise with Samira based on spiking the punch and now? Well…Her friends were graduating. Well. Bryelle was unsure on Lily’s condition, considering she was the type of student to ignore things until the very end. But Bryelle’s other Seventh Year friends…Well. They were moving on. The graduation ceremony was rather adorable, cheering on most of the students and highlighting most students talents since starting at Hogwarts so long ago. Bryelle remembered it all, watching through glassy eyes of joy, even if it was just a few hours ago.
The end of the ceremony meant each of the students were able to leave, to head back towards the station that brought all of them here every term in and out. Feeling greedy, Bryelle decided to step into one of the enchanted boats that the Seventh Years — well the newly graduates were meant to occupy and them only. Sitting at the front of the boat, with her head hung low to hide her face using her hair, the Goyle smiled small at a familiar voice once they sat next to her.
Samira admitted that the day didn’t feel real and Bryelle forced a small smile on her lips. ”You’re telling me…” She smirked, lifting her head to reveal who she was.

Graduation, 2025 Samira's last thought at that moment was who was in the boat with her. She wasn't focused on her classmates then, other than that they were present, some still queued to climb aboard other boats—boats that seemed so much smaller than they were so many years before.
"You're telling me…" came the voice of the girl seated beside her, a reply to her comment about how surreal it all was. She didn't place the voice immediately, though of course it was familiar to her. The girl was British, too, which kept her from thinking much of it as she watched the water.
Then, turning her head to speak, Sami saw the girl's hair—and then her face. Two thoughts entered her mind. The first was how Bryelle had managed to sneak her way on board one of the boats at all. The second was what she hoped to accomplish by being there. She knew very well that Bryelle wasn't always innocent, and that was only part of the issue. The other—one of the few times that Samira had had a regard for school rules—was that Bryelle wasn't even in the right year to be sitting there.
"Get out," Sami hissed under her breath at the younger girl. She didn't want to cause a scene, but Bryelle needed to get out before she got caught.

FROM HER REVEAL, BRYELLE KNEW it would strike up the right kind of reaction from Samira. From the corners of her eyes, the Goyle watched as Samira turned towards her, eyes squinting down at her and a scowl appearing on her lips. All perfect Samira features. All characteristics that simply made Bryelle smile. ”Why?” Bryelle wanted to crash the Seventh Year’s party, and this was the best way to start that.

Graduation, 2025 "Why?"
Merlin's beard, was she four years old? Sami knew that Bryelle knew very well why she wasn't supposed to be on the boat with the students who were leaving the castle for the last time. It was a stupid question and didn't deserve a response. Bryelle was not going to goad her into doing anything stupid that would cause a scene. She wasn't, and Sami bit back everything in her to keep it that way. If this wasn't one of the most important traditions for a Hogwarts student, maybe she would have felt otherwise, but she had worked too long and too hard for that. No way.
Sami shot Bryelle a look that spoke for itself. "Because I said so," wasn't good enough, and accidentally tipping the boat over wasn't an option. (It would have been sort of satisfying to see Bryelle in the water, though.)
Turning back to the other students who were still waiting to board, Sami raised her voice. There was little that she could do about the situation once they were out in the middle of the lake, short of either pushing Bryelle in and hoping the squid didn't get her or staying shut up about it. "I think there's a problem with this boat," she called out. That would delay them for a little while, long enough for someone to realize that the problem wasn't actually with the boat itself.

AFTER JUST SOME TIME APART, you would have assumed Sami would have cared or missed Bryelle at least. Ms Ji-Yu had separated them back during the Gilderoy Ball for their stupidity and since then, Bryelle hadn’t found much purpose to hang out with the older girl. But that didn’t mean the Goyle didn’t miss her. Being commanded to leave the boat had been expected but everyone and their wands knew that the Goyle wasn’t going to get up for anyone. Not even herself at this rate, the laziness was high. Sami’s glare upon the brunette was enough to speak words however, but it simply left Bryelle chuckling quietly. It wasn’t enough to be taken as a threat, but it was enough to get a point across. It was just a shame that the Goyle didn’t care.
Well. That was until Sami’s voice raised and attention was brought towards them. ”Are you crazy?” Bryelle called out in a hushed tone, pulling at Sami’s robes to pull her in and shush her. ”What’s that gonna do anyway? Gonna get the Professors to throw me off of the boat and enjoy a little swim time with the creatures in the deep blue sea?”

Graduation, 2025 "Are you crazy?" No, Sami thought; she wasn't. Bryelle, on the other hand… Well, she was beginning to question the younger girl's sanity, or at least her common sense. She swatted away Bryelle's hand as she pulled at her robes, but she got the point: Bryelle wasn't pleased that she was about to be found out. she questioned what that was going to do, anyway. "Gonna get the professors to throw me off of the boat and enjoy a little swim time with the creatures in the deep blue sea?" "Would you like me to do the honors?" Sami asked dryly from under her breath. "Get up." She gestured her hand, palm up, further upwards to indicate that she meant it. "I'll get off to let you out," Sami added. She wasn't that terrible of a person. bryelle rose goyle

BRYELLE HADN'T EVEN BEEN ON the boat for long, but clearly seemed to irritate Sami well enough considering the girl swatted her hand away. The Goyle pouted up at her then, her craving need for attention being denied once more but she knew Sami wouldn't be looking at her. "Oh please do." The Gryffindor challenged, lips forming a wider smile.
"Get up? Like...Stand?" Bryelle dumbly questioned, cocking her head to the side as if she acted like a dumb blonde. "But I don't wannnaaaa get offfff." She whined quietly, taking on the actions of a mere child. "You can't force me off either. The Professors will just say it was a simple mistake so come and sit down."

Graduation, 2025 Bryelle was determined to get the better of her, encouraging her to do the honors—the threat, thinly veiled, not lost on her. Yet she continued to play dumb, as though she couldn't comprehend what was being asked of her.
"Get up? Like… Stand?"
Sami drew in a breath as Bryelle continued to whine and complain—in the most exaggerated way possible—that she didn't want to get off of the boat. She claimed, too, that Sami couldn't force her off the boat. While she might not have been able to push her into the water like she wanted to, she didn't think that their professors would be as lenient as she said that they would be.
"Please," Sami breathed, trying to remain "nice" about it despite being fed up. Bryelle was the one who was being difficult about it; she wasn't.
Cautiously, she got to her feet, standing up and getting out of the boat before Bryelle could do anything truly stupid, like grab her by the arm as she was disembarking to pull her into the water.
"Go on," she urged Bryelle. "Get up."

GETTING UNDER SOMEONE'S SKIN HAD always been fun for the younger Gryffindor, and it continued to be evident as her smile only grew as Samira continued to grow mad. Dark eyes watched as Samira's chest drew in, inhaling a sharp breath no doubt, and while Bryelle's grin settled on her lips, Samira only continued to be nice to her. It was only expected, considering the elder always wanted to present herself as a nice being, despite the fact that...She wasn't all that nice.
With a quiet groan, the Goyle knew Sami wouldn't let it go and eventually she stood, moving in Samira's direction and hesitantly getting off the boat. "Happy now?" She angrily whispered, eyes narrowing as she leaned into her.

Graduation, 2025 Surprisingly, Bryelle followed her command to get up and out of the boat. Sami expected it to take more bickering—or even force—in order to get the younger girl to comply with what she wanted her to do, because Bryelle was stubborn like that. As much of a troublemaker as Sami knew that even she could be, she also knew when she needed to behave. Not wrecking the graduation ceremony for the students in the year above her was a part of that, at least in Sami's mind. Just one important day where everything went according to plan. That was it, and she hoped that Bryelle understood the importance of that, after all of the chaos that had marked the past few years at Hogwarts.
But Bryelle didn't seem to have done it out of the goodness of her heart. On the contrary, it seemed that she had gotten up and left the boat to avoid becoming the squid's next meal. Her eyes were narrowed, and her tone was still bitingly harsh. "Happy now?" she questioned her, her fun very plainly ruined for the day.
It hadn't been that hard, had it? Sami moved her head in a gesture close to a nod. "Thank you," she replied, the way in which she said it heavily sugar-coated.

BRYELLE DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE yet, but with teachers noticing the small scene between Samira and the younger Gryffindor, Bryelle's stupid consciousness came forward. Sure, she wanted to wreck the ceremony just a little bit, especially since Lily wasn't around to encourage her plan but listening to Samira had taken over and doing the right thing seemed right. Dear Merlin.
With Samira whispering a thanks, the younger Gryffindor rolled her eyes before folding her arms. "You should get going...You have a ceremony to finish." And with that, the Goyle forced a small smile onto her lips, stepping back while eyes wandered, trying to follow the path that would bring her back to her classmates. She knew she would probably face detention for the next few weeks or so, for impersonation of a seventh year and for down right behind stupid. But she didn't mind. After all, this was how rebellion felt.
BRYELLE END

Graduation, 2025 It was better that Bryelle had disembarked from the boat. Not only would she have crashed a ceremony that she was a year away from earning for herself, but her stubbornness about not getting up initially had drawn the attention of some of their teachers. There wasn't much that they could do to punish Bryelle, of course; they were on the cusp of summer, so the threat of detention was far less effective than it would have been at any other time of the year.
Bryelle could have made it worse, though. Sami knew that a few teachers weren't necessarily enough to keep her from trying something, but it appeared that she—although rolling her eyes and folding her arms—had a conscience somewhere. "You should get going..." she told her. "You have a ceremony to finish."
Sami nodded, forcing a small smile back at Bryelle as the younger girl took a step back. "Thanks, Bryelle."
