End of May 2025Life had been flipped upside since the beginning of May. With everyone around him getting sick, and being denied access from going back home to New York due to the borders shut down, and lastly graduation. Within a week of graduation Joe got a job in Muggle London at a five star resort, a boujee place called 'The Ritz'. The Fontaine parents had connections all over the world and this one happened to benefit him. Joe was living with his siblings in a nice flat in England, enjoying the semi freedom. The fact they couldn't go home made him feel trapped but they had a good living situation overall because their parents insisted to always send them money. It was weird living together without their parents, Joe felt the need to take care of his siblings. He had his own life though so he wasn't breathing down their necks, they could do what they wanted until they gave him a reason to step in.
Despite the fact that there was a practical wizarding plague going around, Joe wanted to go out and have a good time. After working hard all week it was time to celebrate his first week with new job. He and Dom had planned earlier in the week to meet at 'The Fountain' on Friday night to hang out and get a drink before deciding what to do. Whenever they hung out they found a fun activity to do together. Joe liked her a lot and enjoyed her company more than any other girls he had been talking to, so he was looking forward to seeing her and sharing about their past week.
As Joe entered the pub, his eyes scanned the room to look around for Dom. He didn't see her at the bar, there were too many people standing around the area. Just as he turned around on his heel to look behind him, Joe was greeted by someone he knew. A friend he hadn't seen since being in the UK. A bouncy blonde came crashing into his arms, beaming, "Joseeephhh!" she squealed excitedly, wrapping her arms around his neck for an embrace. "Claire?" he asked, eyes widening in disbelief, not expecting to see his old friend and fling from Ilvermorny. Joe returned the embrace without thinking twice, Claire prolonged it a little longer. "You look great! What are you doing here?" he asked, she giggled, "My parents didn't want me to go to Hogwarts, but I'm going to Uni here because I always wanted to study abroad." she shared, grabbing onto his arm and pulling him closer into another hug. "Oh, I have missed you so-sooo much Joseph. Are you here with someone?" she asked, batting her eyes. There was a weird feeling at the pit of his stomach and he didn't listen to it. Joe nodded with his typical cool guy nonchalance, "Oh, yeah, I'm meeting a friend, lets get a drink and chat." he proposed stupidly, instantly going back to old habits. There was no harm in catching up with a friend right?
Flagging down the bartender, they got their drinks and shared a very captivated conversation.

Dom was very much looking forward to her planned outing with Joe. He was fun and easy to talk to, and now he'd finally graduated! It meant they could honestly spend as much time together as they wanted, an idea that very much appealed to the former Ravenclaw. They decided to meet at 'The Fountain', or rather, Joe mentioned it and Dom jumped at the opportunity because she thought it was hilarious. The problem was, today training went overly long. They were trying to figure out this team move and it just wasn't flowing right. It wasn't really anyone's fault, it just wasn't working today. The problem was, it kept Dom at training much longer than she wanted. So, by the time she got out, she didn't have time to apparate home, shower and get ready. Of course, she still did all those things. Even though she doubted Joe would be upset about her showing up all sweaty from Quidditch, she happened to like it when he looked at her admiringly, and it didn't really take that much effort. It would just make her a bit late, which she was sure Joe would be fine with once she explained. Besides, Dom could get ready fast. She arrived at the pub about ten minutes late, which wasn't bad at all. Merlin, Dom loved magic. It made everything so much easier. First, she made her way over to the bar, glancing around for Joe. After a second she frowned. She was normally really good at spotting people in a crowd, and she was sure he was here. He wouldn't be more than ten minutes late, would he? She scanned the crowd again and then noticed Joe. He was standing at the other end of the bar, grinning stupidly at some dumb blonde in front of him. They were standing really close, already drinking together and Dom felt her jaw drop slightly. Sure, she knew she had no claim on him and it was obvious from the day they met that Joe was a very flirtatious kind of guy ... but he was supposed to be meeting her. What was he doing flirting with that bimbo? Dom's stomach clenched and she turned to the bar, ordering something off-handedly before walking over to a booth where she could watch Joe and the mystery girl. She wasn't meaning to be a stalker, per se, but if Joe was so invested in this girl that he didn't notice Dom she wasn't going to interrupt. She sat down and glanced casually around the room, trying to hide the fact that every few seconds her gaze returned to the pair. The girl laughed and pushed Joe's shoulder, trailing her fingers down his arm in a teasing manner as they continued to talk and Dom felt her jaw clench. This wasn't good. She took a big gulp of her drink and then closed her eyes, taking deep breaths. No one wanted to see her lose her temper, and she didn't want to either. Dom forced a slight smirk on her lips as she gazed around the room, pretending to be disinterested in everything. She still could tell that Joe hadn't noticed her yet. However, a few other guys had. A small group of three young men started approaching casually. What did she care? Joe obviously wasn't watching for her. She'd talk to other people, see if she could have fun with Joe and that girl still chatting away. Ugh. @joseph

The time seemed to fly by as Joe was consumed in this conversation with his old friend. They were standing very close to each other, Claire kept squeezing Joes arm and giggling every time he said anything remotely funny. His intention wasn’t to come off as flirty but Claire was obviously used to her old banter with the young man.
Joe excused himself with a warm embrace once her group of obnoxious friends came to crowd around them, chatting and giggling loudly. This was something that would normally fuel his ego, being surrounded by hot chicks, but today he didn’t really care. The idea actually brought a redhead to mind, his reason for being here.
As Joe turned on his heel to face the other side of the bar, he was instantly greeted with Dom’s face. She didn’t look happy. The sight caused his stomach to drop, overflowing with guilt, even though he wasn’t technically doing anything wrong.. Hell, he could talk girls if he wanted..right?
”Oohh—heey” he greeted, uncharacteristically awkwardly, tension building up in his entire body as he forced a smile. His intuition told him “he just got caught”, unfortunately he wasn’t much of an intuitive individual when it came to those feelings. Joe started to approach the booth where she was sitting like he normally would, playing it up with the over nonchalance.

It took far longer than Dom wanted for Joe to realize she was there. He flirted with the girl, both of them touching one another for what felt like ages. Dom distracted herself by talking with the young men that came over, but they were shy and this was obviously their first time doing something like this. She couldn't help but glance over at Joe every few seconds and soon enough the boys got the hint and left. Dom didn't care. She was about ready to stand up and leave the stupid place when a bunch of the other girl's friends came. They seemed to all want to flirt with Joe, but he squirmed out of the interaction and started looking around the room. Once he did that it only took a moment for him to notice Dom. She forced on a smile, though she was aware that it might not look quite real. "Hey Joe. You have a fun night so far?" she asked with a little head tilt towards the group of girls. Dom quirked an eyebrow at him, "thought I was going to leave forgotten." She was kind of teasing, but at the same time she definitely wasn't. @joseph

Joe never considered himself to have good intuition, which was why he didn't believe in Divination and that other fake "New Age" hippie magic. Dom seemed a little irritated that he got sucked into hanging out with Claire and her gal pals. She was teasing him with a joking tone but he could feel the displeasure behind her voice. It kind of surprised him that she seemed to care. Joe wasn't sure how to handle it other than joking back, "Oh? Someone sounds jealous." he chuckled with a challenging smile. Honestly he didn't feel like Dom would care since they had messed around a lot and didn't really talk about seeing other people. Joe would never forget about meeting Dom, she was unforgettable. @dominique

Oh so he was calling her jealous now? Normally Dom would shake it off and laugh and move on, but right now ... it hit a little too close to home. Still, she tried to play it off, quirking an eyebrow at him and smirking, "Me, jealous? I was just saying what I saw ... or were you not having fun over there?" He obviously had enjoyed the conversation, or he would have started looking for Dom a whole lot earlier. There really wasn't any other way for him to play that off. Part of her wanted to move on and talk about something else, but at the same time she wanted to see how he reacted to this conversation. Also, she definitely wanted to see him squirm a little bit, if that was possible. @joseph

Joe wasn't sure where this conversation was going. There was a strange vibe behind it all and for some reason he was feeling very defensive about the situation. Dom actually seemed mad. Maybe he was overthinking the situation because he was thrown off guard by Claire but he honestly couldn't care less about her. She was old news. Still, Joe wouldn't ever let a girl, eve Dom, ruin his night after working such a hard week. Joe shrugged his shoulders up and then down again, "I didn't know I wasn't allowed to have fun anymore." he told her harshly, not really caring anymore, maybe a sick part of him wanted to get a rise out of the redhead. @dominique

Okay, this definitely was not the kind of evening Dom had expected. First he'd been flirting with that girl, and now he was making it seem like Dom was being controlling or whatever. Her smile hardened in place even as Dom felt herself getting angry. She tried to tell herself to stop, that Joe wasn't really trying to make her upset ... but it was actually starting to feel like he was. She exhaled through her nose, breaking their eye contact as she looked away and tried to calm herself. She couldn't. Honestly, she couldn't remember the last time she'd been this angry. "Go ahead and have as much fun as you want. I'm not your mother," she said, her voice cold as ice. If that was his defense ... well, she could go somewhere else and have fun for the evening. She shook her head, refusing to look at him as she rose to her feet and started walking away. She didn't need to be with him to have a good time. In fact, she'd probably have a better time if she was with almost anyone else. @joseph

Joe scoffed, unable to believe that she was actually walking away. Dom never did that before. Usually they bantered back and forth until they were sucking face. Tonight he had somehow triggered her. To be fair, he was incredibly rude, and brushing off talking to other girls in her presence, but he didn't think it was a big deal. They weren't dating or anything anyways. Well, now they definitely weren't. Joe wasn't good at intuition but he could tell by the expression on her face and the tone of her voice that she was mad. She had every right to be, but Joe didn't feel like it. His piercing green eyes rolled to the back of his skull, scoffing, "Jeeze, since when have you been so uptight and unable to take a joke?" he asked, not meaning to offend her, but surely it would be shots fired in a tense situation like this. Joe never knew when to step back.

Dom froze when he called after her, asking about her being uptight. Really? That's what he thought about her? Really, if she'd been in the right frame of mind, she would realize that he hadn't ever seen her angry before. He didn't know what this was, but maybe he should have been able to figure it out. Most people would have. Still, uptight? She turned on her heel to face him. "Well, you know it's not like I came to this bar and had to wait over half an hour for the person I was supposed to be meeting to even remember that I was coming. Didn't really feel like much of a joke, honestly. And you know what, I'm not uptight. I'm angry, and you're just lucky that I'm not hexing you right now," she hissed before spinning around again and striding out of the bar and apparating somewhere else. She'd find her fun. Dom just had no intention of being anywhere near Joseph Fontaine at the moment. @joseph (okaaaaaaay so now move on to the next step? Hahaha)

Everything was happening so fast. Joe barely realized what was going on. Suddenly he was saying words he didn't mean and Dom was leaving. Dom was officially pissed off and now there was no turning back. Joe wasn't one to retract words and apologize on the spot, if ever. It took a lot out of him. After she said her part, spinning on her heel and exiting, he shrugged his shoulders, feigning nonchalance to anyone that may have witnessed the scene. Joe wasn't one to let a girl ruin his night, not when he felt he could have any girl he wanted.
The newly graduated Slytherin made his way back over to his pretty friend Claire, offering her a flirty arm punch and pretending like nothing happened between him and the fiery redhead.
