The weather was nice out, making it the perfect day to hit up the neighborhood park. Simon loaded his backpack with a small blank canvas, oil paints, brushes and a couple of “party favors” since it was summer. This was his time to let loose before he had to take on more responsibilities as Gryffindor team captain this upcoming school year. Simon was already dreading concealing his smoking habit, though it would be a good strategy to try to stop - although he really didn’t want to.
As Simon made his way down the stairs he already expected to see Jessie sitting in the living room, curled up with a book like she normally was. He wasn’t used to seeing her around the house yet but he was used to seeing her nestled right by the large bay windows in the fluffy arm chair.
As he reached the bottom stair, he hopped off, ”Heyyy Nerd” he greeted with a boyish smile, meant to be taken more playful. ”I’m skating over to the park. Wanna get out for a little bit?” he asked her, figuring it didn’t hurt to invite her. @jessiemeadows

The past couple of days had gone by rather quickly for Jessie. She assumed it was because she had been so wrapped up in her thoughts. The dawning epiphany she had had the other night had left her somewhat distraught. It was just the thing she didn't need. Especially when she had plans to stay the remainder of the summer. Crushing on Simon just wasn't part of her plan. For a while, the young lioness thought she could push it aside in an attempt to achieve some kind of blissful denial. Though the next morning, when she had accidentally spent an additional half hour making herself look presentable, that hope was squashed. She had made one decision at least that she was sure she would stick to. She was gonna make damn sure Simon wouldn't find it. The summer weather in London was somewhat of a dream compared to the Georgia heat she was accustomed to. It wasn't sweltering, or humid here. Not yet anyway. Although things were pleasant outside, she still chose to remain inside and read another book. Jessie had occupied the same spot. Her time was spent alternating between gazing out of the window and actually reading her books. Her attention had actually been focused on a bird outside when Simon came sauntering off the stairs. Her stomach lurched suddenly. "Hey!" the lioness greeted, almost too cheerfully. She scolded herself inwardly for that. "To the park? Well... sure. But only because I've read this particular book before. It's kind of boring this time around." She tried her best to seem nonchalant, unsure of how effective it actually was. simon sixten svendsen

It was obvious Jessie wasn’t expecting to see Simon climbing down the stairs as he called out to her. The Lioness was absorbed in her thoughts, staring at the window at something. Her greeting threw him off slightly because he wasn’t used to her being so ~enthusiastic to see him. The half vamp bobbed his head up and down with amusement, sending her a smile.
”Cool. Go get ready and I will get the bike down for you..” he offered, knowing that girls weren’t usually the type to ‘get up and go’ so he wasn’t going to rush her. Simon was assuming she could ride a bike by her reaction earlier in the week when he joked about it.
Turning on his heel, Simon looped his thumbs through the straps of his backpack absentmindedly and walked through the garage, easily finding the bike and removing it from the hangers on the walls. Since the Svendsen family was a house of half vampires it wasn’t often they rode a bike in the sun. Simon barely got away with skateboarding without a sunburn. Luckily today the weather was slightly cloudy but warm, making it ideal weather to get out.
Simon kicked his board into his hand and poked around as he awaited for Jessie to come into the garage.

His smile sent an odd feeling to her gut. Almost like he was reading her mind, Simon told her to get ready. She just about to let him that know she needed to change. Without a second thought she hurried up the stairs, as fast as her little legs would take her. Once she made it to the guest room, she shed her leggings and hoodie for some Nike shorts and an oversized tshirt. She contemplated wearing sandals, but figured it would be best to wear tennis shoes. Getting a flip flop caught in the pedal of a bike wasn't part of today's itinerary. Jessie stopped by the mirror, and carefully ran a hand through her hair. Just to make sure everything was in order. When she came into the garage, she found Simon piddling around. He had already taken the bike down for her. It had been many years since she had ridden bike. Though she used to do it often in Georgia, especially on sunny days. The numerous bike rides would turn her skin dark in a matter of days. She had hoped that she could tan a bit more this summer, but the English climate did little to help more often than not. "So, you're skating there?" she asked, just to clarify. "Good luck keeping up," she said, shooting him a playful grin. simon sixten svendsen

Simon smiled and chuckled when Jessie questioned him about skateboarding. Hell, little did she know, he could fly through the streets on his board. He liked to go fast.
"It's a good thing you don't know where we're goin' then, hmm?" he snipped back playfully with a twinkle in his eye, assuming Sofia hadn't taken her to the park yet - or Jessie hadn't gone on a neighborhood walk on her lonesome. Either way, Simon meant it as a joke just as much as she had.
With a fist pump into the air, "Lets roll!" he whooped, pushing his foot off the ground and sending him down the long drive way. The wind whipped his hair, he checked that Jessie was keeping up. It was about a three minute ride of them leisurely mobbing to the park. It was slightly cloudy out but the weather was crisp, the perfect day to get out and do something. The board flew across the concrete as Simon circled around Jessie to mess around.
As they reached the park, the pond and willow trees could be seen before they reached the end of the street. There was a playground and plenty of room to frolic. Simon enjoyed sitting under a willow tree while smoking and painting. He turned to her, ”Is this your first time in England?” he asked her more randomly, stepping onto the plush green grass, throwing his board beside him and allowing his legs to collapse under him.

Jessie frowned. He was right, of course. She didn't know where they were headed. She shrugged off the disappoint however, and mounted her bike. His whooping gave her a stupid smile, the kind that made your cheeks hurt. The first few seconds on the bike were a little wobbly, but she quickly fell back into the groove of biking. In all honesty, she had missed being outside something terribly. The sun, the little enough that was out, felt like heaven on her skin. When Simon began circling around her, Jessie quickly stuck her tongue out at him. It was a short ride to their apparent destination. She followed him underneath the willow tree, eyeing it in awe. Willows were hands down her favorite kind of tree. Something about the way the leaves and branches swayed in the wind. The brunette collapsed onto the grass as well, after putting the kickstand up on the bike. "My first time in England? No... my first time in a mansion though, " she teased, falling back against the grass. simon sixten svendsen

Simon plopped himself onto the grass and Jessie followed shortly after kicking the bikes kickstand. She answered his question by telling him that she had been to England but never have been in a mansion before. He chuckled a bit, a smile creeping onto his face, "You know what, I hadn't either until about a year ago." he admitted with a nod. His parents struck it big when they created their own alcoholic butterbeer, dubbing it 'Flying Cauldrons'. They had new money. Simon wasn't one to take credit for their wealth but he was happy with the lifestyle they were able to live now. His parents gave him money when he did better in school, something he wished he had realized sooner..
The sunshine felt nice, he enjoyed the warmth it brought to his skin, but he was also aware that direct sunlight for long periods of time wasn't good for him. Thank Merlin for the lovely willow tree they were situated under. Simon sat up so he could remove two small blank canvas', a couple of paints and brushes from his backpack. He figured he'd bring one for Jessie too if she wanted to participate. Maybe it was possible for her to read too much...
"You wanna paint somethin'?" he offered her a small canvas. Simon had a couple of bottles of booze that sloshed in the bag and a spliff behind his ear, but he'd wait to pull that out for now. @jessiemeadows

His smile and chuckle triggered her own smile. As he informed her that his home was new to him as well, she was slightly taken aback. Jessie realized with a start that Simon knew more about her home life than she knew of his. "I hadn't realized it was that recent," she admitted, voicing her thoughts. Still though, new money was still money after all. He was loaded, or rather his family was loaded. Wealth hadn't been something she aimed for in life, though it made things easier in the long run. The lioness would much prefer to be happy doing her job, than the make an abundance of money. Her doe brown eyes watched him gracefully extract all of the art supplies he had stuffed in his bag. She balked when the attractive boy in front of her asked Jessie if she wanted to paint. A nervous twang hit her gut. He was about to have a whole new subject to tease her about. Art was something she appreciated, in fact she found it highly attractive that he was artistic. However Jessie held no confidence in her ability to create something beautiful. In fact, she was sure whatever she made today would end up looking like a Kindergartner's finger painting. "Erm... Sure. I don't know much about painting, but I'll try," she warned him, biting her lip. She rose to her feet, prepared to take some things out of his hands. Despite the nervousness she was feeling, a comfortable air hung around them. Their conversations had thus far flown smoothly, neither of them seemingly taking offense at the other's teasing. The young lioness hoped things were going to continue this way. simon sixten svendsen

Simon shrugged nonchalantly, "Yeah, my parents struck it big after they opened their own alcoholic butterbeer distillery and storefront, so it's been cool. I was glad to leave Durmstrang because it was kind of intense there..and so much colder than Hogwarts." Simon admitted because they were being more chatty today. Since Jessie was staying at their house, she probably wondered about that. Surely, Sofia was too busy talking about sucking face with her boyfriend.
The last item he pulled out of the bag was a palette that he already filled at the house so he screwed off the cap, revealing a rainbow of acrylic paints that were meticulously organized. "You don't have to know anything to paint." he told her in a more encouraging tone, not taking that as an excuse. His lips twitched upwards when she agreed easily, passing her a small blank canvas and a paint brush. Honestly he was kind of curious to what she'd decide to paint now. A small laugh slipped past his lips, "Don't think too much into it." he told her, before he turned to Jessie with a more playful look consisting of a slow spreading smile. "Or you can finger paint if you want." he teased her playfully, going back to their becoming more typical banter. Simon was enjoying the time that he and Jessie were spending together, it was definitely a lot more fun being nice to each other.

She listened closely as he offered some details about his life. It was odd, after so many months, to hear details about him. She hummed quietly before responding. "Two months ago I would have said that Durmstrang suited you," she said. "I don't mean that in an offensive way. It just seems like you would have liked it there." Jessie honestly didn't have any reasoning behind it. It was simply just a feeling she had. Though Simon knew himself better than she did. She believed him when he said he was happy to have left. After some forethought however she said, "But, you're ridiculously laid back. So I understand." Jessie resisted the urge to roll her eyes when he said you didn't need to know anything to paint. Easy for him to say, she thought to herself. She awkwardly accepted the brush and canvas, staring at the stark white. She scoffed, "Right. I overthink everything, Simon. This painting won't be any different," she informed him, giving him a soft smile. She quickly flipped him the bird when he mentioned finger painting, as if reading her thoughts moments ago. A few moments passed by as she stared at the canvas some more. She was worried that whatever she decided to paint, she would do it a dishonor. A small pout settled onto her lips, and she turned to him. "I don't know what to paint."

Jessie made a joke that she would have thought Durmstrang suited him about two months ago. He chuckled at the thought of her being pissed at him, enjoying the fact they were getting along lately. He didn't take any offense to her words, his face showed it. They were having an easy going conversation. He shrugged, "Yeah, well, it wasn't that bad. I'll admit I liked the fur coats. Durmstrang sucked more because there was no girls there." Simon told Jessie with a hint of unapologetic honesty and jest. He definitely meant it.
Simon leaned his back up against the willow tree, comfortably settling in his spot. Jessie was being slightly over dramatic when it came to making the decision on what to paint. He scratched his chin thoughtfully, "Paint the first thing that comes to mind..." he told her, trailing off. "Like a rainbow, or a kitten, or something.." he teased, once more, before his face flickered with an idea. "-Or I might have something that will help you decide. You just have to decide if you're going to be a 'Party Pooper' or go with the flow.." Simon told her with a 'cool guy' tone, more for dramatic effect. He pulled out a bottle of wine he finagled from his parents liquor cabinet. "Wine in the park makes me feel fancy. " The Lion said with a comical eye brow waggle and pinkie up, completely killing the 'fancy' vibe for the sake of the joke.

She tossed him a wide grin, "Of course you liked the fur coats." She promptly ignored his comment about girls, and the pang in her gut. Jessie nodded when he said to paint the first thing in mind, but landed a soft punch on his arm about the rainbows comment. "I'm not that girly. I may be bubbly... but not that bubbly," she said, rolling her eyes playfully. Jessie eyed him suspiciously, as his facial expression changed to something that resembled mischief. She wished she had been surprised, as she watched him pull a bottle of wine out of his bag. But she wasn't. She grinned at his theatrical bit. She was in too much of a good mood to find it annoying or irresponsible. However, she wasn't sure she should partake. "Oh, wine in a park? Was this your secret way to get me to go on a date with you?" she teased. Though a tiny, tiny part of her was thrilled at the idea. On a more serious note, she added, "I'm not sure I should drink... I've never been a big drinker, and I'm fairly certain I'm a lightweight." Jessie found herself considering it though, despite her words. She nibbled on her lip in thought. It was summer after all.. And surely a few sips wouldn't do any harm. She sighed reluctantly, "Oh, what the hell. I'll have a little."

As Jessie tossed him that wide grin, stating that she expected no different than for him to love the fur coats at Durmstrang, he couldn't help but nod in acceptance at that comment; maybe even a hint of a smile crossing the corners of his lips. The way her face brightened up was really cute. She didn't seem to like the illustration recommendations, she punched his arm lightly. "Opps, guess it's what I think about when I think of you." he teased, not entirely meaning it. Okay, maybe a little bit.
Simon played along when Jessie asked if this was his way of getting her on a date. It was always fun to challenge the Lioness, so he figured he'd play along with her. Their friendship was at a more comfortable state where he could mess around with her, and she said it first. His icy blue eyes flickered to hers, "Is it working?" he asked her with a slow spreading smile, always taking an opportunity to flirt. The Lion was known to be a flirt at Hogwarts, it came naturally to him. However, the last time he tried to flirt with Jessie, even in a 'joking' manner, she got painfully awkward about it, so he didn't wish to put her or himself through that kind of discomfort again. Especially when they were naturally getting along so well.
When she stated that she was certain that she was a lightweight, he shrugged his shoulders upwards, "You won't know 'til you try.." he told her in a nonchalant tone, lazily peer pressuring her without actually trying to pressure her. Jessie's decision was made quickly after a little back and forth with herself, so he poured her a small glass, passing it to her before pouring himself a glass with a bit more because he wanted to get a buzz on. Simon raised his glass to click his to hers, "Cheers."

His smiles were driving her crazy today. In a good way. "Well if you think it was an original comment, you're wrong. If I had a dollar for every time someone made that kind of joke..." she said, giving him another bright smile. Sometimes she resented that joke from friends. Jessie hoped that she was a bit more complex that how that joke made her sound. However, with Simon, she could definitely put it aside and just enjoy the day. She could get reprimand him for it on another day. Her smiled flickered when his eyes connected with hers. It took all she had to keep her eyes on him, instead of allowing them to dart away from his own. He was much better at flirting than she could ever dream of being. But that wouldn't stop her from trying, at least not now. Discovering that she liked him meant she had more to prove, and so breaking past her comfort zone was a challenge now. Jessie batted her long lashes up a him, accompanying it with a small smile. "Depends, do you want it to be working?" she shot back. It wasn't the easiest interaction, but the Lioness hoped it translated better in person than in her head. When he said she wouldn't know until she tried, she gave him a small shrug. She knew he wanted her to drink. And so Jessie wanted to please him. She accepted the glass on wine from him, glancing down at the beverage. "Cheers," she responded, raising her glass in response. Jessie quickly inhaled before just going for it. She took a hearty sip, instantly blanching from the bitter taste. Nevertheless she followed through, already wondering if it was a good idea. simon sixten svendsen

Simon offered the young lady an unapologetic shrug after her comment, "You could be known for worse things.." he quipped with a smile to match hers, more to maintain his smart assery they were so used to. Truthfully, friendly banter and hanging out was much better than digging up cabbages in the middle of the night, or hiding from Jessie at school so she can't force him to the library.
When Jessie asked if he wanted it to work, the corners of his lips twitched, "Undecided.." he answered slowly with a side eye, unable to hide the smile now because he wasn't used to flirting with Jessie. It felt like it wasn't allowed. Hell, actually it being forbidden made it so much more fun. Simon was going to behave himself though. If he didn't, it could potentially make it a very long and very awkward summer in his own home.
The half vamp raised his glass to hers, taking a sip of the liquid and setting the glass down and dramatically cracking his hands and reaching for his paintbrush. Simon sensed a slight awkwardness about drinking but he wasn't going to point that out to her, he was honestly just glad to have a drinking buddy. He didn't want to make it more awkward for her. Dabbing the brush in a green, he lightly dabbed the canvas, "Alriiiight. I know what I'm gonna paint. What are you gonna paint?" he asked her, more to pressure her playfully, he was sure Jessie would continue the cute theatrics. It wasn't as if one drip of alcohol was going to give her inspiration.
