Magnus Welsh - - - Raya Herring The stadium was huge. Championship matches often drew in huge crowds, but this year was astronomical. In the commentators box a few Ministry and Quidditch league officials milled about, chatting and thanking each other for making it this far. A magical timer floated in the middle of the pitch, counting down to the start of the championship match. 5

1 The count down disappeared and fireworks exploded around the field to a chorus of cheers. "Gooooooood afternoon, Quidditch fans!" A male voice boomed across the field. An almost holographic image of the busts of two individuals appeared on the field, large enough for all to see. A man, and woman. Both, highly recognizable and popular Quidditch commentators. "Let's get this show on the road, shall we?! Let me hear how ready you are!" Cheers erupted. "I don't know, Magnus. They don't sound excited enough. Come on, Quidditch fans! I want all of England to hear you," taunted the woman. The cheers grew even louder. "That's more like it! Welcome one and all to the 2024-2025 Championship match! Magnus, why don't you introduce our first team?""You got it, Raya! I want all of you to show some love to our first team, lead by legendary captain Satyros Klee, Yoooooooooorkshire!" Seven blurs on brooms shot through the field, slicing through the air like missiles. "They started out the season slow and steady, but when they saw their opening they struck like a serpent! They've been hitting hard, and taking no prisoners. Their crafty seeker, Voet, is one of the best feinters in the league, and she's known for leading opposing seekers on wild goose chases, only the snatch up the snitch the moment you let her out of your sight. Their keeper may be small, but Hall's quick reflexes make her a force to be reckoned with. You should never underestimate their beaters either. Between Mosley's aim, and Stibbons' heavy hits they'll either knock you off your broom or leave you with a concussion! Lets not forget their chasers though, some of the highest scoring chasers of the season! These three might not be the fastest chasers in the league but they currently hold the season record for least knock outs, enduring any hits you throw at them.""And after a season of meandering in the middle of the pack, this dark horse came out of no where to snag their place here at the championships. Let's hear it for The Wimbourne Wasps!" A flash of seven more players, flying out of the gate and circling the field. "She hasn't been captain for long, but Claricia Freund has proven to be one of the smartest tacticians of the league. No one ever considered them a threat to the championships until the last few matches of the season! Their fast striking chasers will leave their opponents reeling and wondering just what happened. Their seeker, Hutton, is affectionately called the Bloodhound, because once he catches sight of that snitch he'll never let it go. The beaters, Webster and Cevaer are masters of disguise, and always use the element of surprise to take out opposing players before anyone's even noticed they were there. Last, but certainly not least, is Windsor, the youngest player on the team and a brand new Hogwarts graduate! Some way they're playing him too early, letting him play in the championships but I'll tell you, the kid's solid. Once he hits his stride he's hard to get past."The images of the commentators disappeared from the middle of the field as the players circled and the referee stepped out and towards the center of the field where the chest lay. It shook violently, as if the bludgers inside could already sense the excitement of the crowd. "And here comes the Referee, Allan Ferguson. After fifty years of refereeing this'll be his last year with the league before he retires, so before we get started I want everyone to thank this man for his years of dedication!" More cheers. The players stopped in their circling to clap and cheer. "At his mark Ferguson'll start the match. Everyone hold onto your seats! Players, to your positions."The stadium was still loud, but much quieter as many waited with baited breath. The players flew into formation, the captains closest to the center of the field and meeting each other's gazes as they waited. Ferguson stood in silence a moment, squinting up at the players. He kicked the chest and the bludgers flew out, firing into the sky to begin their reign of terror. Picking up the quaffle he paused a moment, raised his free hand to his mouth, whistled, and tossed the quaffle high into the air. "And they're off! Wasps captain, Freund takes possession immediately! Loubens is coming up on her right but Freund's too quick.""Freund's always been a quick one, even back at Hogwarts.""That she is, but she shouldn't let that go to her head, Klee's a seasoned captain. He's got the experience she lacks.""Freund's lost the quaffle! I didn't even see Mosley coming, but boy does that girl have some aim! She's on the other side of the field! Freund looks to be okay though. Landgut is already on the scene, and taking possession."(Next act will be posted 3/4/2020)

Magnus Welsh - - - Raya Herring The quidditch players flew across the field is both amazing speed and agility. Watching quidditch at the professional level was always a shock for newcomers. "Aaaaand Yorkshire has possession of the quaffle. Props to Landgut for the steal! Now to Klee, then back to Landgut.""Not for long though, here comes a bludger from Webster. But - Oh! Didn't see that one coming! Loubens just flew into the path of the bludger to take the hit! What a play! Landgut is heading for the goals, unhindered. And he shoots....""Score, Yorkshire! Ten points to Yorkshire for that great play! Yorkshire's chasers are showing their resilience here, and Loubens doesn't even look phased after that hit.""For sure, Magnus. We've seen this strategy all season. It makes you wonder just what they've been doing in training to take hits like that!""It's definitely unconventional, but it's made this Yorkshire team quite memorable. We'll be talking about this strategy for generations. I wouldn't be surprised if next season we see teams recruiting more burly chasers to try and replicate the play.""Quaffle to Wasps again! Rune, then Freund, back to Rune - Here's come Nightshade! She's swooped in from behind Yorkshire's goal. Quaffle to Nightshade, Hall doesn't even see her coming!""Ten points to the Wasps! What a fast play! The Wasps are kicking it into gear, and Yorkshire didn't even have time to react.""Loubens with the quaffle now, heading back down the field -Oh, that's got to hurt! Bludger to the head, from Webster. Loubens looks fine but Nightshade's stolen the quaffle!""Heading back for the goal, Hall looks ready this time. Nightshade shoots.... And what a catch from Hall! Sorry Wasps, Hall's onto your plan now!""Quaffle heading for Landgu- What a steal! Rune was right there waiting! Coming back in fast! To Nightshade. She shoots... And score! Ten points to the Wasps!"The scoreboard now reads 10 - 20 (Next act will be posted 3/10/2020)

Magnus Welsh - - - Raya Herring "Well, what a turn of events! The Wasps are putting up a fast and furious game.""Considering the odds they're against though, I don't blame them. The Wasps have a lot of ground to cover if they are going to overtake Yorkshire on the leaderboard. It's not just who wins the match that'll decide the championship winner, after all. The Wasp need, at minimum, 170 points to break even, and that's not even counting any points Yorkshire gets.""Exactly, and Yorkshire is going to put up a fight. The quaffle is back in Klee’s hands now and Landgut is sticking close. They’re not going to let the Wasps pull that steal tactic again.” “It looks like the quaffle isn’t the only action going on! Hutton is on Voet’s heels! Has she spotted the snitch already? You never know with Voet, so Hutton isn’t taking any chances.”“Stibbons has caught onto the seeker action and there goes a bludger! Hutton dodges, and – oh that was definitely a feint from Voet, maybe to try and give the Yorkshire beaters a chance to take out Hutton.”“Not a new tactic to the league, taking out the opposing seeker would ensure you control the game, but it didn’t work this time. It looks like it’s distracted the Wasps long enough to keep some heat off their chasers. Loubens has the quaffle now, still with the Landgut guard.” “They’re coming up on the goal now, and Windsor looks ready to go. But here comes trouble for the Wasps! Mosley has control of the other bludger, and has sent it barreling towards Windsor!”“Ow! That’s gotta hurt! Windsor took that bludger to the head. It’s given Loubens the chance she needs, and that’s 10 points for Yorkshire. The quaffle is in Rune’s hands now.”“Windsor is struggling to stay on his broom, but he looks like he’ll be okay, just a little dazed.”“Talk about a welcome to the league!”“Rune’s moving down the field with that famous Wasp speed, trying that same shock and awe tactic as before. Klee’s ready though, and intercepts the quaffle mid air before it reached Hall. With Klee in possession again it’s a chaser face off. Rune is sticking close behind Klee.”“Yorkshire definitely relies on passes more than the Wasps, but that won’t be happening with Rune around. Mosley’s trying to get control of a bludger to take Rune out, but Webster and Cevaer are playing a game of monkey in the middle with the bludger. Stibbons has control of the other bludger but can he get it across the field?” “It’s a good hit from Stibbons, but not enough power to get it to Rune. Those bludgers have a mind of their own, so you can only control them for so long.”“Rune’s waiting for an opportunity to steal, and there it is! Klee’s passing to Landgut. Can Rune get it in time?”“Oh, not this time Rune, Landgut was too quick. Landgut in possession, and a quick pass to Loubens, keeping that quaffle away from the Wasps.”“Where’s that bludger come from? Loubens just took a bludger to the shoulder. She’s lost the quaffle and Fruend was ready to take it.”“Loubens is going down! Mediwizards are already below to catch her. She’ll be fine, but she won’t be returning the game, that’s for sure. Yorkshire is going to be down one chaser for the rest of the game. Will they still be able to keep up?”
CURRENT SCORE 20 – 20

Magnus Welsh - - - Raya Herring "Referee Ferguson has called a timeout while the mediwizards tend to Loubens.""For those that are new to the sport, the league introduced timeouts for knock outs in 1970. During the world championship, a bludger almost hit a player on the ground, and would have killed them if it wasn't for the quick thinking of the mediwizards. Since that game, a time out is required to ensure players knocked off brooms don't get accidentally killed. Plus, bludgers don't really care who they go after, and a few mediwizards have been hit in the past as well.""The last thing this league needs with an accidental death, that's for sure. It looks like the Mediwizards are wrapping up though, and have removed Loubens from the field. There's Ferguson's whistle to resume the game!""Freund is still in possession of the quaffle and quickly passes to Rune. Rune, heading for the goals. He shoots.... And scores!""Sorry Hall, you'll need to be quicker than that. Ten points to the Wasps! Quaffle to Klee.""Yorkshire isn't going to let a repeat of Louben's happen, and Mosley is sticking close. Here comes a bludger from Webster, but Mosley easily repels it and sends it towards the Wasps Keeper, Windsor.""He's learned his lesson this time! Windsor is quick to dodge, but sticking close to the goals to not create an opening.""Klee passes to Landgut. Rune goes to intercept but no good this time. Landgut is taking aim... shoots.... SCORE!"CURRENT SCORE 30 – 30

Hermione had never been a huge fan of Quidditch; she had gone to the Gryffindor games with Ron and the others of course, but that had been to support Harry, and later Ginny, while they played. As Minister for Magic, she was expected to be present at the match, and deliver the trophy to the winning team - in this case either Wimbourne or Yorkshire. She was seated in the Top Box with her children and Ron; they may be separated, but she wasn’t going to let him lose the opportunity to not sit in the top box for a game. She still cared for him after all. The match was going as...well, Hermione was only paying so much attention. She had a lot on her mind other than Quidditch, particularly the death of Elaine Dupree. While it should have felt like a massive win for the Ministry something felt off about it. She couldn’t quite put her finger on what exactly the issue was; perhaps she was just so used to Elaine shrinking in the shadows that she expected something to happen - that it wasn’t really Elaine the guards had killed. She shuddered inwardly; she hoped it wouldn’t come to that. One of her aides stepped up to her and whispered something in her ear; one of the Ministry’s Aurors was requesting her presence in his box on the other side of the stadium. What on earth could he want? Hermione’s heart skipped a nervous beat as she rose from her seat, making her excuses and telling her family she’d be back in a little while. Quickening her pace, she made her way down the long halls of the Quidditch Stadium, her aide keeping pace beside her. Finally, she reached the other side, where many Aurors and Ministry officials were watching the game. “What is it?” she asked, sitting down in the empty seat next to the nervous looking Auror who had summoned her. He cleared his throat and she tensed; something was clearly wrong. “Er...Minister, we got a tip of someone suspicious lurking around the stadium this morning..” he trailed off, and Hermione grew impatient. “Yes?” she snapped, and he jumped, making her feel a little guilty. “Well, they Apparated before we got to them, but they left behind a scrap of paper.” Fumbling around his pocket, he unfolded the paper. Hermione grabbed it from him and studied the writing. The handwriting didn’t seem familiar, but the words did. Lacewing flies, boomslang skin...the ingredients for Polyjuice potion. Hermione stood up and took out her wand. “Take a squad of Aurors to the burial site of Elaine Dupree. Dig her up, and tell me what you find. Now!” she said, trying to keep the rising panic she was feeling escalate in her voice. They ran from the box and Hermione waited with her aide and the other Ministry officials, who were looking over at her concerned. “Just a precaution, I want to make sure that we’re being thorough, as we know other Purifiers are still out there,” she reassured them, though she wasn’t so sure of herself. She sat back down, hands folded in her lap to keep her legs from bouncing up and down nervously. The next moments passed so slowly it was agonizing; she knew it would take time for the Aurors to do their duty, but why was it taking so long? A whoosh captured Hermione’s attention, and her head turned sharply towards the forming Patronus, a beaver that belonged to the Auror she had sent on the mission. “Minister Granger, we did as you asked and….the body is not Elaine’s.” The Auror continued speaking through his Patronus, explaining that the body belonged to a Healer that had been reported missing several weeks back, but Hermione didn’t hear him. A ringing had started in her ears, and she felt frozen. The body was not Elaine’s. Elaine was still alive, and ready to strike. “We must evacuate the stadium,” she found herself saying; she didn’t know how the words came out of her mouth. They looked at her, confused. “NOW!” she shouted, but she was drowned out by the swarm of cheers that erupted from the crowds as the commentators announced the scoring of one of the players on the field. She ran her hands through her hair, looking up towards the box where her family was. She needed to get to them, she needed to… The ground beneath her shook, and she stumbled, grabbing the seat in front of her. “There’s no time,” she said, so softly that nobody could hear her. They wouldn’t have been able to though, for the cheers turned to screams as the ground shook so hard that it cracked open the floor. Green flames began to erupt on their side of the Pitch, and Hermione Granger knew this was the end. With one final look towards the box that held her family, she whispered “I love you,” before the flames engulfed her and everyone else on the side of the pitch, their screams dissipating into silence as the roar of the fire extinguished their lives, one by one.

Post by Elaine Lyra Dupree on Mar 17, 2020 12:17:48 GMT -7
A hooded figure stood in the shadows of the trees; if one were to look in their direction, they would see no movement from the trees. A figment of their imagination, just a trick of the trees. Not like they would believe what they saw anyway.
The whole world thought Elaine Dupree to be dead; it had been splashed over the Daily Prophet, with the Mudblood Minister Granger taking responsibility for their triumph. Such arrogance, such assurance. Why was she so sure she got the right one this time? Did they check the body before they buried it?
Well, it was time to remind Madam Minister just who she was dealing with.
A shift in the shrubs had the figure turn sharply, wand already out. It was just the Explosives witch, who had been behind the little show they had planned for this crowd today. They relaxed, stowing their wand away and turning towards the guard stoically standing beside them. He had “accidentally” dropped a piece of parchment with Polyjuice Potion ingredients on it; Hermione would understand the message and be sending a squadron of Aurors to verify Elaine’s body was in its plot. They watched as, right on schedule, the Aurors exited the stadium and Disapparated without even noticing the three hooded figures watching the stadium. How painfully typical of them; so focused on the task ahead to not even check their surroundings before leaving.
It was only a matter of minutes now. The figure turned towards the Explosives witch and nodded once. They took off to their position, and waited for the next signal. The timing had to be perfect; Hermione needed to be notified that the corpse they buried was a fake before anything happened. Minister Granger deserved to KNOW she had been defeated, and could do nothing to stop what was about to occur. The silvery whoosh of a spell passed by; the Patronus delivering the news that Elaine was not the one in the plot. The figure smiled, and raised her wand, pausing only moments before she heard the cheers swell in the crowd of a score change in the match. They sent the green sparks in the air, not high enough for anyone in the stadium to see, but clear enough for the only person that mattered.
The stadium rumbled as the Explosives witch’s hard work began to erupt. It started at the bottom; licks of green flames climbing up the stadium walls. The cheers began to turn into screams as another blast shook the stadium. A heartbeat later, a final blast shot a fireball of green flames up through the section of the stadium that Minister Granger had been directed to in order to be briefed on the parchment. It had all gone so smoothly, so perfect; they hardly dared believe it was possible.
As the Explosives witch came back towards them with a triumphant smile, the figure slowly lowered their hood. Brown eyes looked green as she watched the flames engulf this half of the stadium, reaching towards the sky as the screams grew more panicked.
Elaine Dupree turned towards her followers, who were waiting for her next words with baited breath. “Well…” she said slowly, glancing back up towards the flames and smiling wide. “I always said I wanted to watch the world burn.”

OOC EXPLANATION Alright ya'll, that's right. The Purifiers have attacked the Quidditch match! In the attack a portion of the stadium was destroyed, and those in that portion of the stadium were killed or injured. The Minister, Hermione Granger was killed along with several other aurors and Ministry officials. Who knows what The Daily Prophet (article coming soon!) will be blaming the attack on a fireworks malfunction and calling it a horrible accident.
The Auror department, and Ministry high ranking officials (heads of departments) know the truth. These individuals will NOT be telling anyone outside the Ministry to prevent mass panic.
The Purifiers all know what happened the day of, and many were involved in coordinating the event.
Ouroborous and Heliopath will learn the facts as a whole June 11, 2025, when their Ministry members tell them. (They are the exception to the not telling anyone outside the Ministry)
The public does NOT know the Purifiers were involved, and believe the Daily Prophet story. What this means for characters This is a way to drop any characters you'd like, and have them go out with a bang (a common practice after graduation, and for those that want to get rid of their Ilvermorny peeps) Just post in the claim change/character drop that the character is being dropped as part of the event. We'll save a list of all the characters so that, IC they can be included in the article.
Mediwizards on site were able to treat all the serious injuries quickly and efficiently. So while some characters may go to the hospital, there wasn't any lasting or permanent damage to those that survived. Any hospital stays would be very short term.
Around 100 people died in the attack.
The Quidditch league has decided to call the match a tie, and will not be rescheduling the match. All proceeds from the match will be donated to families that were affected.
The Minister is dead, and after a grieving period, the Ministry will begin a new election for Minister. Stay tuned! We have something fun planned for this! For IC reference, this will begin in IC July (OOC it will be revealed April 1, 2020). So for future threads, please keep that in mind.
The Minister's family was not killed. They were not in the affected portion of the stadium.
