February 2025
The familiar sensation of her hip’s moving from its socket—the left one, that time—made Monday groan in pain. She braced herself against her desk and stood, wincing. All that she had done was move a little too quickly while trying to get up at the end of class, so she assumed that she would be able to power through it. She had another class after that, which was the worst part. Getting there wouldn’t be fun.
She cringed as she tried to put weight on that leg, still supporting herself with the aid of the desk until tears began to form in her eyes. ”Ow…” She wasn’t going to get very far like that, she realized, and immediately sat down again. The momentary relief of not trying to put weight on the dislocation helped, but of course it wouldn’t last.
Although she hadn’t even been there for a full year, Monday was already no stranger to the Hogwarts hospital wing. It got annoying having to go there so often, especially with how complicated the staircases at the school were. She supposed that that was part of the joy of being part goblin; she was significantly more prone to injury than other people. Hopefully, the staircases weren’t packed with people. Who was she kidding? They obviously would be while in between classes, and there was no way that she would have been able to navigate them without gripping the railing and staying put, anyway.
She glanced over to see who hadn’t simply rushed from the classroom the second that the lesson had finished. Limping along while holding onto the wall wasn’t going to suffice, and she had to be careful when trying to figure out who could help her. Considering her height relative to her classmates, she had to assess the room each time. It didn’t do much good to ask someone significantly taller than she, for her sake as well as theirs. Dislocating something else just trying to get to the nurse was a really stupid idea, though Monday wasn’t proud of the fact that it had happened before. She’d had fun explaining that one in a letter to her parents.
Directing her attention to one of the girls in her class a few desks over, Monday spoke up. ”Hey, um…” She cringed internally not at the pain in her hip at that point but at her awkwardness about it. ”Do you mind helping me get to the hospital wing?”
