Late June 2025 It had taken a couple weeks, as promised, but Sienna had finally managed to locate most of the ingredients for Camila’s potion. She had even set up her best copper cauldron in the back room so she could start brewing as soon as possible, and it was very conveniently located in the back corner in case anybody besides Jamie ever wandered in. Si only had one ingredient left to find, which was usually stocked in the apothecary but thanks to Hag’s Fever had been in short supply. No problem – she wouldn’t need it until the third or fourth step anyway. Si and Camila had arranged for the celebrity to visit the apothecary during a quiet time when there would be fewer likely rabid fans around. Since it was almost time for their appointment, Si had set herself up at the front counter so she could intercept Camila as soon as she entered the store. The bored shopkeeper hadn’t protested the idea of an extra-long break. While she waited, Sienna looked over the brewing process again, mouthing the words as she read through each step. She’d scanned the paper so many times she practically had it memorized, but she didn’t want to make any avoidable mistakes. That was the kind of trouble only amateurs got themselves into. Camila was exactly on time, although Si raised her eyebrows in surprise at the security that accompanied her. “Hi,” Si responded with a smile, motioning for Camila and friends to step behind the counter. The other girl looked a little embarrassed about her entourage, so Sienna didn’t comment. “Come on back,” she offered as she flipped the sign to ‘closed’ with a wave of her wand (she wasn’t quite sure she had the authority to do that, but she was the only employee in the store right now) before leading the small group to her workspace. camila calderón

Late June 2025 “Hi,” Sienna greeted her, motioning for her and her security to go to the back of the shop, where they actually prepared the supplies and brewed the potions that they sold. “Come on back,” she instructed them, and Camila noticed as she turned her head that the sign in the front of the shop had switched from saying that it was open to saying that it was closed, instead. “It’s okay,” Camila assured her security detail in English, motioning for them to stay put. Knowing how cramped the back of the apothecary was, it was easier, and one of them could bring back the hair when Sienna said that it was necessary. She followed Sienna then, quickly and quietly as though she had to avoid being noticed still. Sienna Aurélie Linslee

Sienna was half-expecting to be searched or cross-examined or something by Camila’s security staff, so it was a relief when none of that happened. Camila instructed the team to remain in the front – which was for the best, considering how cozy the back was with only two potioneers – and Sienna led her to the back of her workstation where she’d set up the cauldron. She gave a flourish with her hands to point out the copper cauldron. “For you,” she joked, setting down the brewing steps on her desk carefully. Her desk was cluttered (Si never had time to organize, really), and she didn't want to lose what had taken her two weeks to find. She didn’t feel like digging her phone out of the mess on her desk right away, so Sienna tried to keep the conversation simple. “I found it!” she said happily, motioning towards the parchment she’d just set down. Sienna had had to dig through quite a few books before she’d managed to find and copy the list of ingredients – it had been very well-hidden in one of the volumes on obscure potions she’d maybe opened once since starting here. “I can start tomorrow. As soon as we are done negotiating,” she joked. camila calderón

Late June 2025 Camila followed Sienna to her workstation, as she had done before when she had come into the shop as Julieta. Once they were there, Sienna pointed out a copper cauldron. “For you,” she explained, although Camila assumed that she meant that it was being reserved for her potion and wasn’t some gift that she was never going to use for herself. She’d dropped out of Castelobruxo; the last thing she was going to try to do was brew Polyjuice Potion on her own. That would’ve been a recipe for disaster. The area was cluttered, but Camila didn’t really care. As long as Sienna could find whatever it was she needed back there, Camila didn’t think that it was really her business how organized—or not—it was. In any case, she said that she had found the piece of parchment that she had just set down. It looked like the recipe for the potion itself, which was always a good thing. “I can start tomorrow. As soon as we are done negotiating.” “It is fine,” she laughed. Obviously, once Sienna started brewing the thing, she was going to be married to it, practically, but she wasn’t in such a rush for it that it mattered. Of course, potions occasionally had to be really precise, so maybe Sienna was onto something. Either way, Camila certainly wasn’t going to be a diva over it. “So… instructions?” she clarified about the parchment. “My security has the hair.” Sienna Aurélie Linslee

This wouldn’t be Camila’s first time in the back room of an apothecary, but Sienna was still a little nervous about it. She didn’t much like bringing people back. It wasn’t about privacy or ‘invading her creative space’ or whatever most people got worked up about, but rather that potioneers were used to things that seemed creepy or disgusting to other people. Sienna worked with a wide variety of ingredients for her potions, and it wasn’t unusual to see exotic ingredients pickled or dried or on display around her workspace. Sienna was used to it – she didn’t gag at leeches or pickled plants or dragon bits anymore – but it certainly took a strong stomach to work in potions. She’d hidden some of the more outlandish things, but there was still enough interesting stuff lying around. Si did her best to be casual about it – sending a nonverbal cue, as it were – and nodded at Camila when she mentioned her security had the hair. “Instructions,” Sienna confirmed about the parchment. She picked it up to show the other girl. “Ingredients are here.” As she spoke, Sienna ran her finger down the list. Some of the ingredients were fairly common – fluxweed, knotgrass, and the like. Others – bicorn horn, boomslang skin – were less so. “And all the steps down here.” This was where it got complicated, and likely where most potioneers went wrong. Sienna hummed thoughtfully before speaking again. “It usually takes a month. I would like to have a week or two more, so I can avoid mistakes.” Her statement came out more like a question as she glanced quizzically at Camila. She was the client, after all, and this was ultimately her call. But on her first try, Si would prefer to take her time on each step. She'd hate to have to throw out a batch because of a hasty mistake, and she still needed to find the last ingredient anyway. camila calderón

Late June 2025 Careful not to touch anything so that she wouldn’t mess up anything that Sienna or anyone else was working on, Camila kept her hands at her sides and tapped her fingers lightly. She knew that she probably should have been more squeamish about some of the stuff that was in the back there—and who knew what happened to be pickled in some of the jars—but she wasn’t really bothered. She didn’t have to touch any of it herself. As Sienna pointed out what some of the ingredients on the list were, some of them horns and skins and not just plants, Camila knew that that was probably a good thing. She heard Sienna hum a little, though it wasn’t to the tune of anything that Camila recognized. “It usually takes a month. I would like to have a week or two more, so I can avoid mistakes.” Camila nodded. She understood, but she pulled her phone out of her purse and opened up the translator just to make sure that she wouldn’t be mistaken as she responded. “That’s fine. Seriously, don’t worry about it. I trust that you can make the potion. If anything goes wrong, text me or something. I have a concert on 5th July. I’m not in a rush for the potion.” It wasn’t a big deal. Sienna Aurélie Linslee

Sienna shouldn’t have worried – Camila seemed to be just fine in a potioneer’s heaven and entirely unconcerned about setting a rigid timeline for the potion. Si had come away from St. Mungo’s with a good impression of the celebrity, and she was hopeful it would stay that way. Camila mentioned texting her if something went wrong, and Si opened her mouth to answer – before a sizzling noise distracted her. One of her other projects (for maximum efficiency, Sienna usually had three or four going at once) needed her attention, and she was glad she’d caught it because…well, it was the batch of Swelling Solution the Ministry had ordered, and the potion was threatening to spill over. That was the last thing Si needed overflowing all over her desk, so she hastily used her wand to turn down the flame on the cauldron and put a cover over it. “Sorry,” she apologized as she turned back to Camila. She rolled her eyes, although the effect was ruined by her persistent smile. “Work, work, work.” But to show Camila that she had understood, Si nodded and pulled out her phone as well. “Thanks for the vote of confidence. You can check in again soon if you’d like to see your potion’s progress.” Then the last thing Camila said clicked in Si’s mind and she gasped excitedly. “A concert?! So exciting!” Sienna had been disappointed to miss Camila’s last, but well, she’d been stuck in the hospital with Hag’s Fever. Not much to do about that. camila calderón

Late June 2025 Something there in the back sounded like it was sizzling, and Camila looked for its source at about the same time that Sienna did. It didn’t sound good, and whatever it was in the cauldron looked as though it was going to bubble over; however, Si acted quickly to keep it from turning into a disaster, bringing down the heat on it and covering it. Aside from that little hiccup, though, things seemed to be going well enough with the Polyjuice. Camila understood when Sienna lamented about work, knowing the feeling all too well, and listened as Sienna pulled up her own translator. “ Thanks for the vote of confidence. You can check in again soon if you’d like to see your potion’s progress.” And then it seemed to register with her that Camila had mentioned a concert, and she gasped. “ A concert?! So exciting!” “You can come if you want,” Camila said into the translation app in her phone with a laugh and a little shrug. “It’s in Exmoor. My team managed to work something out, since the European tour…” Well, Sienna knew that story. Sienna Aurélie Linslee

Sienna nodded sympathetically as Camila mentioned the cancellation of her last tour – thank you, magical virus that managed to shut down the whole British Isles. She absentmindedly began to move things on her desk away from the Swelling Solution as she did so. “Of course I’ll be there,” Si promised as she triple-checked the cauldron cover was on tight. It would be just her luck for the cauldron to explode the second Si locked up for the night. Then she spoke into her phone. “I’m your second biggest fan, after Gus,” she added cheekily. And a Camila concert sounded like the exact right way to spend the rest of the summer – she’d already been hospitalized in June, so really there was nowhere else to go but up. “Before I forget,” Si added, snapping her fingers as she realized. “I should get the hair from your security guys. I can store it somewhere safe. I’ve got a drawer for things like that.” She motioned vaguely at said drawer, which was better protected for privacy issues. “Who is she, anyway?” The girl giving Camila her hair to allow the pop star to travel around unnoticed. It was a big favor to provide (so Sienna assumed as she kept all her hair on her head, thank you very much). But it could be seen as an invasive question, so Si hoped Camila knew she didn’t have to answer. camila calderón

Late June 2025 Sienna continued to adjust a few things in her work area, though Camila didn’t mind that she was multitasking as they talked. Half of her life anymore was spent doing—or at least trying to do, because she was a klutz and didn’t always succeed—multiple things at once. She answered her that “of course” she would come to her concert. “I’m your second biggest fan, after Gus.” Camila had to laugh. Of all of the fans she had across the world, that was probably true. “ Before I forget,” Sienna added, “ I should get the hair from your security guys. I can store it somewhere safe. I’ve got a drawer for things like that.” As long as it was secure, that was what mattered most to Camila. “Who is she, anyway?” “Julieta?” Camila guessed that was who Sienna was talking about. “The niece of my manager,” she laughed. Hair delivery all the way from Argentina was probably more of a celebrity thing, Camila supposed, but if it did the trick? Well, she couldn’t complain, and she was grateful that Julieta had been so kind. “I will get it,” she noted about the hair itself, and she stepped back out to the front of the store to do so. Camila mentioned her manager’s niece – that made sense, Si assumed. If word got out that Camila liked to walk around using someone else’s face as a disguise…well, the tabloids had done more with less. So it made sense that she had to be careful who to trust about this Polyjuice issue. Sienna knew that Gus preferred to use some extensive charmwork to walk around unnoticed, but that must be a personal preference. And hey, she was glad for the business and opportunity to expand her repertoire. Every potion learned was another tool in the potioneer’s belt. But speaking with Camila reinforced that fame was a double-edged sword, and Sienna was glad for the privacy of her workshop. While Sienna waited for Camila to return with the hair, she used her wand to try and tidy up the space a little (putting away potion ingredients and the such). She hadn’t noticed how disorganized it was until her desk contents were threatened by the Swelling Solution. Si just wasn’t a neat person – sure, she had her own system for organizing potion ingredients, but everything else just sort of found its own spot. Potion books, journals, personal papers…what a nightmare. As she worked, she began to hum one of Camila’s songs – Si's personal favorite, and the one that had made Camila famous in the first place. The store got quiet sometimes, and now that Si spent most of her time in the back alone...well, music helped the day go by faster. camila calderón

Late June 2025 There were other ways in which Camila probably could have gone around in public without the need for constant security and whatnot. She wasn’t a Metamorphmagus, though it would have been nice to just change her face or something instead of changing into a completely different body, but Polyjuice felt like it was the safest. It was the most common, anyway, and it meant that she could consistently become the same person every time. While it might have done more for her anonymity to pick up some random vial of Polyjuice and go with that, her team was aware of her disguise as Julieta. In the event that anything went wrong, it was necessary. It didn’t take long at all to grab the hair. It was a few strands in a sealed bag—enough to give Sienna extra if it was needed for any reason but not enough that Camila was asking for a whole wig of the real Julieta’s hair or anything creepy like that. She hoped that it was a minor inconvenience at best for the other girl, and she hoped that she would be able to make it up to her whenever she made it back to Argentina. As she returned with the remaining ingredient, Camila laughed as she heard Sienna humming “Beso del Dementor”, or “Dementor’s Kiss”. “Very good,” Camila grinned, giving Sienna a soft round of applause as she kept the bag of hair tucked under her thumb. “Here is the hair.”Sienna Aurélie Linslee

Si stopped humming abruptly and coughed embarrassedly as Camila entered the back room again. She got caught up in her immediate environment sometimes, and it was one thing to hum in front of her coworker – another thing entirely in front of the original artist herself. “Well, I won’t win anything for it,” Si responded with an embarrassed smile as she walked over to carefully pick up the bag of hair. There was a company policy about storing certain things – advanced potions, maybe, or ingredients provided by clients, which meant Sienna just followed directions on proper storage. She walked over to unseal the drawer, then gingerly placed the hair inside before sealing it again. “All safe!” Si stated, satisfied, as she rounded her desk again. “I’ll start tomorrow,” she repeated one more time to assure Camila. Beyond her professional obligation to complete projects at an efficient rate, she was also incredibly excited to test her potionmaking skills with such a complicated brew. The opportunity was in the challenge, after all, and Si got bored making the same simple potions every day. It was time for something that had her gritting her teeth in frustration and triple-checking the book. She spoke into her phone for the last part. “If you’d like, you can come in again halfway through to check on your potion. Sometimes clients like to see where their sickles and galleons go.” Si shrugged to let the musician know it didn’t bother her. She didn’t mind the company, really. It got depressing to be alone sometimes. camila calderón

Late June 2025 Sienna coughed a little as she returned with the hair and said that she wouldn’t win anything for her humming, at which Camila laughed. She handed over the bag of hair—which was probably a strange transaction, but it was what it was—and watched as Sienna stuck in carefully into the drawer that she had mentioned. “All safe!” Sienna assured her. “I’ll start tomorrow,” she said, and then she used her translator to explain that she could come back in again halfway through the process to check on how things were coming along. She mentioned that sometimes clients liked to see where their money went, which Camila supposed was true. “I’ll see what my schedule is,” Camila answered her in translation. “I don’t really know right now, after the concert and everything.” Even if her schedule looked relatively free, there was almost always something that would pop up to change that, and she didn’t want to make any promises that she couldn’t keep. There was one promise that she could, though. “Are you available on 5th July?” she asked Sienna. “I can get you concert tickets. No problem. Or you can hang out with me backstage, or whatever you want to do. I’ll ask Auguste, too, of course.” Sienna Aurélie Linslee

With the hair having changed hands, it looked like they were nearing the end of their business temporarily. Well, unless Camila wanted to actually watch her start the potion brewing process – which was actually quite dull, the fun part came in the middle – but Si doubted that. Most likely, the girl would pop back in at a later date to check on the progress of the potion. Or even more likely, she’d come in at the end to receive the finished product and pay Si for the ingredients and her time. Potioneers liked to study each other’s process and way of doing things – most people just wanted a potion. “Yes,” Si answered automatically, without thinking, when Camila answered if she was free. Two reasons for that – Si didn’t have many appointments with the nature of the job she had…and well, this was about a Camila concert. Of course she was free. Her face lit up as Camila mentioned several options. “That sounds amazing! We’ll be there.” Not that Sienna could really RSVP for Gus, but she’d talk to him about it. And drag him there if necessary, although she doubted it would come to that. Gus was always very good about supporting other musicians, and he and Camila were friends too. “And let me know if you do want to come in. This one should be fun!” camila calderón
