Lochlyn's patience was beginning to wear thin with the term. While he felt as if his studies were important, he didn't know how much longer he could stand to be surrounded by his simple-minded peers. The majority of students were much too involved with idiotic drama, and frivolous activities. All of it was a waste of time to Loch. If it wasn't going to help him succeed in salvaging his families reputation, it was pointless to be involved with. Didn't they care about anything of substance? Clearly not.
The only way to find respite from the mediocrity of his fellow students was to find a quiet place and nestle there until the evening. His time would either be filled doing homework, or reading. Homework happened to be the object of his attention this evening, as he sat in the farthest corner of the library. It was quiet, thank Merlin. He could nearly always depend on that particular location to provide solitude and silence.

Claudia rarely went to the library. She wasn’t much of a studier. She did fine in her classes mostly because she was fine with doing the bare minimum necessary to pass. But this yeah her mother had laid an ultimatum on her. She needed to pass all of her OWLs, or she would stop paying for her dance career. It was rather manipulative if you asked her, but, Clauida wasn’t quite ready to get a job yet, or, to pay her own way. So the least she could do was spend a few days studying and get to a point where she could get at least an Acceptable on every test.
She decided that the library was going to be the only place where she could force herself to focus. And she would have to force herself. It was fairly full, the only seats remaining were right next to another student, and she’d rather fail then sit next to someone random. So she ventured around the room, looking for a spare table that was free, or even just a little corner nook. But alas, it seemed most other students had the same idea as her. How inconvenient. She did stop when she saw the familiar face of a Slytherin boy in her year. And an empty chair next to him. That would have to do. “Mind if I join you?” she asked, already setting her bag down, not really caring what his answer would be, but also already knowing what it was. Like he would deny her.

Lochlyn's head shifted upwards as a voice inquired about joining him. A fellow Slytherin, Claudia Watkins, was setting her bag down. Loch noticed how she didn't wait for his answer. He moved his stuff carefully to the side, in order to give her more room. He had feeling that she would make space if she need, though."Not at all," he replied smoothly, his eyebrows raised up in a bemused expression. She was an exquisite beauty, Lochlyn had to admit. He couldn't say he was pleased to have company, beautiful or not. He preferred to work alone. However he felt, he was going to remain polite. It didn't look good to come across as rude. Though he struggled not to act that way occasionally. Connections were made through polite conversation, which he needed to remind himself often, if he was ever going to fix the disaster his father left behind.
With that thought in mind, Loch decided to start up some small talk. "And what brings Claudia Watkins to the library?" he asked, still studiously scrawling on his parchment paper. He wasn't entirely interested in why she was now sitting beside him, honestly. Conversation or no, he still needed to be working on his assignments. She would have to deal with the lack of eye contact or face to face interaction.

He said he didn’t mind at all if she joined him, and since she was already mid doing so, she finished sitting down and began to pull her books out, placing them on the table along with her ink and her light pink quill pen, it was all very on brand for her. She couldn’t be normal and have normal school supplies. Claudia Watkins was the definition of being ‘extra’. He asked what brought her to the library and she shrugged. “Fulfilling family obligations.” she answered, simply enough. Though she didn’t blame him for asking, she wasn;t a face that often could be spotted among the shelves of books in the library. She had better things to do. Better ways to spend her time. There was a reason that she wasn’t the Ravenclaw in the family. “Just getting ready for exams.” she elaborated a little.
