My power's turned on starting right now I'll be strong I'll play my fight song And I don't really care if nobody else believes 'Frankly, we don't know that they don't pose a threat. Or that they haven't accomplished anything fruitful either. As long as we avoid discussing what the split means, we limit our options for the future.' Her attention turned to Cas, wanting to say something but holding her tongue. Her choice in silence allowed him to continue his train of thought. 'It would be better to work with Heliopath, or at least stay out of each other's way. But if that's not possible, we need to know. That answer has the potential to drastically change how we operate.'Ginny was too lost in her thought at that moment, gazing down at fingernails that had been picked at. It was Teddy that spoke, going at Cas as if his life depended on it. It was then that her attention turned towards Teddy, who was all but trying to calm his anger. "Let's not all get ahead of ourselves...yes we need to watch both of them, but I don't see Vic nor the Heliopaths as a threat. Yes, not knowing what they are going to do about the attack at the Quidditch match is frustrating, but what frustrates me more is what the Purifiers are going to do next. Killing the Minister of Magic was a pretty huge thing," she started, swelling back her emotions, "I want to know if they plan to put someone in the office. I don't care if the Heliopaths do, or if we do. As long as they don't win the highest position, we are in the clear...for the most part."'Let's say there's another Cornelius Fudge. A career politician, no morals. Anyone who would prefer to flatter the blood purists for their own gain is just as dangerous as someone who actually believes that rubbish. Even if they haven't got a Purifier as Minister, as long as whoever it is doesn't care that what they're doing could hurt people…Or another Pius Thicknesse…' It was Teddy that spoke next, mentioning that Fudge was scared and in denial before he questioned who could handle the election and win. But then he started speaking and stopped dead in his track, looking at Ginny. It was as if they had a conversation just with their eyes, and Ginny quickly shook her head. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Cas clenched his jaw in irritation as Teddy Lupin began to speak again. There weren’t any new accusations there, or even old ones – they were ancient, worn-through with how many times Cas had heard them since he started working for the Order. Most members had moved on from focusing entirely on the Karkaroff name, but it wouldn’t surprise Cas if they continued to feel trepidation when it was time to work with him – one of the main reasons he preferred to work independently, even if he’d long made clear the risk he took associating with the organization. It was difficult to pinpoint whether Teddy was, in fact, that dense about why his godfather had recruited Cas, or if it was a simple knee-jerk reaction to anybody that brought up Victoire. Regardless, it was an argument made with all the long-term perspective of a child and Cas exhaled sharply before taking the time to respond. “I never suggested Heliopath is a bigger threat, or that we should move away from the Purifiers,” Cas responded coolly, avoiding eye contact with either Parvati or Ginny to instead focus on Teddy. He wanted to say his piece quickly because really, Ouroboros had much bigger concerns than Teddy’s paranoia. His tone hardened and his irritation seeped into his next words. “Your accusation is a waste of time and, frankly, short-sighted. If you have actual information to support that Heliopath won’t work against us in the future, I’ll drop the topic. But your feelings aren’t a good enough argument.” The last comment came out more dry than he’d intended, but Cas knew better than to lash out with the anger he actually felt. Suspicion and accusations couldn’t be enough to make him walk away, and Cas couldn’t count on any support from Parvati or Ginny on navigating such a sensitive topic. So sarcasm and ignoring the deeper implications of such an accusation was his best shot. Although he was highly tempted to continue berating Teddy the way he might his nephew during a tantrum, Cas forced himself to listen to Ginny’s thoughts and turn back to the topic of the Ministry. He grit his teeth before speaking in as normal a voice as he could manage, and he directed his question to Parvati because she was by far the person he was least angry with at the moment. “Is there a way of identifying worrisome candidates? We might be able to dig into their backgrounds or set a tail. It would be worth the effort to start trying to identify potential members of the Purifiers in the Ministry. Maybe even other places too, St. Mungo’s and the like.” parvati patil macmillan @edward Ginevra Molly Potter

June 28, 2025 Their discussions continued, though it was Teddy who immediately guided them off their course, suggesting that there was another reason why Cas would want them to be looking at Heliopath instead. Of course, emotions were running high because of what had happened to Hermione, in particular, but that was no reason for him to be so childish about it. And of course Cas had the right to defend himself against the insinuation that he was wanting them to turn their attention away from the Purifiers because he was involved with them himself, but they didn't need this meeting to devolve into a bunch of bickering. The two went back and forth as Parvati looked on, watching to make sure that it wouldn't escalate. That was all that they needed. Still, she felt the need to break up their fighting before it did get any worse. "Teddy, Cas… Please," she sighed heavily, listening as Ginny reminded them that they really couldn't get ahead of themselves. Cas, at least, seemed to have calmed himself down somewhat, though Parvati noticed that he kept his question directed to her. "Is there a way of identifying worrisome candidates?" he asked, suggesting that they might be able to dig into their backgrounds or track them. "It would be worth the effort to start trying to identify potential members of the Purifiers in the Ministry. Maybe even other places too, St. Mungo’s and the like." Parvati considered it. She wasn't completely sure, though she knew very well that there were ways of detecting people's comings and goings by magical means. There was the Trace, for one, which was probably far more intricate than they needed for their purposes, so there were certainly possibilities there. Running background checks, hopefully, would be far less difficult, though they would need to identify who the most likely candidates were and then work from there. "Getting information about possible Ministers for Magic shouldn't be very difficult. We've got Ministry workers and members of the media. Either of them has reason to know," she pointed out. "Figuring out that they are who they say they are and then working to identify other possible Purifiers…" It wasn't her skill set that they would need for something like that, though anyone in law enforcement in any capacity could probably work to identify any linkages or red flags. "I don't think it's out of the question," and hopefully it would put Teddy's mind at ease about Cas's loyalties. @edward Ginevra Molly Potter Casimir Elias Karkaroff

"i believe your words were, 'we know our position on the purifiers, we know the danger they pose. that to me sounds like you think they're a threat and your trying to find support here to 'deal' with them rather than focusing on the threat that's actually killing people." he could feel ginny and parvarti looking at him but he did his best to ignore it. he was well aware that he had a blind spot when it came to victoire, he knew it and he didn't hide that fact. but while he was defending vic he couldn't get his head around the fact that cas had seemed to suggest that they should shift their focus to find out what heliopath were up to.
"and if you have any proof that heliopath is something we should worry about, rather than just your one opinion and feelings on them and it turns out to be valid, i'll concede and let you get on with it." he said with a narrowing of his eyes, just in time to have parvati do her best to get their attention back from where it was. he tightened his arms across his chest as he looked across the table at her, listening to what she and ginny had to say. there were a few people in the ministry that would put their hands up to be minister, he was sure of it but they hadn't been able to get a lock on whether they were purifiers or not.
"getting information isn't the hard part. knowing what side they're on is a whole other story." he said with a sigh as he let his arms drop from his chest, the tension he was feeling from his disagreement with cas fading and he stepped back to the table, leaning his hands on the back of the chair again. "calder is keeping his eyes on saint mungo's and whether any red flags go up there." it was only the ministry they didn't really have a lock on because there were so many different departments and thousands of employees. "mcGonagall should run." he said with something of a tired smile. "she'd get them all into line."

My power's turned on starting right now I'll be strong I'll play my fight song And I don't really care if nobody else believes Miscommunication was the critical downfall to armies, and at this moment, it seemed that everyone was on a different page. If they continued like this, they would be just as dead as Hermione was, as anyone that had failed to see the threat before them. She swallowed deeply, brushing a strand of short ginger hair behind her ear, delicate pale fingers moving down the back of her neck before clenching into a fist on her lap. She shouldn't think like that. They weren't going to die; no one else was allowed to. Losing Hermione was the toughest thing she had to go through, just as bad as losing her older brother and Harry for that short time. She wasn't about to watch anyone else disappear, nor die, on her watch. 'I never suggested Heliopath is a bigger threat, or that we should move away from the Purifiers. Your accusation is a waste of time and, frankly, short-sighted. If you have actual information to support that Heliopath won't work against us in the future, I'll drop the topic. But your feelings aren't a good enough argument.' Ginny didn't speak, instead, remaining silent. Maybe she had jumped the gun on her accusation and misinterpretation of his words. But her anger, sadness, and guilt currently ripped through her; maybe coming to this meeting without a sound mind was a bad idea. Thankfully, her silence didn't mean that Parvati was silent, attempting to de-escalate the situation between them all, even as Teddy responded to Cas's words. Asking for proof that the Heliopath was something to worry about, countering Cas's own words about needing evidence. Luckily, nothing too drastic happened, and she watched as Cas and Teddy seemed to calm down slightly - though the tension still ran free through the air. One could cut it with a knife; that was how thick it was. The ginger knew that her thoughts had somewhat upset Cas, but she wasn't about to apologize. She watched as his question was directed towards Parvati, listening as she responded. Her attention moved to Teddy as he also spoke, even adding that Professor McGonagall should run, and she shook her head, a small smile on her face. "As interesting as Professor McGonagall running for the position would be, and how good she'd be at getting things done, I don't think she'd be very interested. I doubt she'll give up Hogwarts to someone else so easily..." MADE BY VEL OF GS

Cas had fallen victim to one of his vices – he always raised his expectations so high that he was inevitably disappointed whenever the situation failed to meet them. In this scenario, however, disappointment was far lower on the list, and he primarily battled between frustration and bitterness that another Ouroboros meeting had morphed into a quasi-interrogation of his loyalties. Truly, Ouroboros had so much on its plate – addressing the fallout of the Azkaban breakout, this new mystery surrounding the explosion at the Quidditch match, and the ever-present question: what did they stand for? They most certainly did not have time for this sort of squabbling, and Cas was almost in awe at the emotional displays and shortsightedness he’d seen today. He’d arrived at the meeting with a sense of urgency, a feeling that now was the time to act and agree on major decisions. Now he wanted nothing more than to leave. Cas supposed something had been done – a discussion on the upcoming Minister elections, a decision to reach out to Victoire – but it was still far less than he’d hoped for. Perhaps it was just too soon after the fact. Parvati appeared to be the only composed one, capable of sound logic, while Teddy and Ginny appeared in different states of disarray. So he resolved to meet with Parvati soon to discuss the items on the agenda they had not yet gotten to – safe houses and leveraging their media connections. In the meantime, he grit his teeth as he resisted the urge to respond snappily towards Teddy. “Fine,” he responded in a controlled tone (although with a clenched jaw), “Reach out to Victoire, then, and her answer will dictate our future course of action.” He didn’t have anything more to say on that topic that could be said in polite company. Cas didn’t trust Heliopath – their intentions might be as good as Ouroboros, but their methods were dangerous and promised unintended consequences if they continued to act so recklessly. Not to mention the collateral damage – Heliopath’s path of destruction had by no means reached that of the Purifiers, but it was still too much. As the group seemed to veer into less consequential talk, joking of McGonagall running, Cas finally let himself give in to his simmering temper. “It seems we’ve handled everything we can today. Although feel free to continue the discussion after the Purifier spy has left,” Cas said bitterly, standing up abruptly and grabbing his briefcase (it was a shame he hadn’t had a chance to show them his research on Knockturn real estate for safe house locations, but the mood of the room was wrong for a topic like that). He had better things to do than be unfairly accused – especially after everything he’d sacrificed for this organization – so he would rather return to handle his shop’s business. He and Parvati could continue a more productive conversation at another time. He nodded at Parvati, then after a moment’s pause also gave a jerky nod towards Ginny. But he could feel his temper rising so he quickly turned on his heel and strode out of the room. parvati patil macmillan @edward Ginevra Molly Potter [End post Cas!]
