@auguste sometime in the past ... he needed to restock his liquor cabinet, it had been dwindling for a while now and he hadn't realised that it had been getting so low. most of his drinking was done outside of his home. he grabbed the fullest bottle he could see, which happened to be a half decent drop of fire whiskey and he turned it in his hands before walking back up the stairs to his bedroom. what was waiting for him was a nice distraction from everything going on, from loosing vic to everything else going wrong in the world he just couldn't face it all head on so any distractions were more than welcome. he walked into the almost dimly lit bedroom and he waved the bottle in small triumph. "the party can continue." he said as he dropped onto the side of the bed, kicking his legs up and resting back against the headboard as he looked at gus. he popped the cap off the bottle and held it out to the other man occupying his bed. they'd started out at the hogshead, and after a few hours, many drinks and a little bit of lost time they'd winded up back here, teddy shirtless and stretched out on his bed, shoes and jeans discarded somewhere by the door and he was hoping the night wasn't going to end anytime soon.

Even though it had been a while since his fall from grace and his following rise to fame, Gus was still far from doing well. He found entertainment left and right, or at least that was what he called it. All in all it was nothing but a temporary escape at best. He didn't let his mind wander because it never took him to good places. He didn't let his thoughts stray lest they poison his mind. Luckily his charm usually allowed him to find company and his reputation wasn't enough to stop everybody. Some people didn't look for loyal partners. Some needed the escapes as much as he did. He sighed deeply as he played with the unfamiliar sheets of the bed he'd ended up in. The endless shouting reprimands from his manager could wait till morning. The hangover could linger for hours after it had been created. Tonight he had other things on his mind. Better distractions.
He smiled his charming smile as his company for the night returned to his own bedroom with a delicious bottle of whiskey in hand. Gus didn't enjoy drinking out if he had somewhere better to be. By now this was better by far than the Hogshead where the two had met up. "Well the party certainly looks very appealing." He said with a hungry look towards the man rather than the bottle. Ever since things had gone downhill for him he had felt that constant nagging feeling in the back of his mind. Everything people had done for him to try and mend his mind and he wasn't behaving any better. He used his fame and access to acquire more bad habits. He didn't understand why his father, siblings and Sienna stuck by him. He wasn't going to linger on that now though. He moved forward and traced his hand over the arm Teddy used to hold the bottle and smiled slightly. "Did you plan on sharing the drinks or did you want me to get drunk of your kisses?" He commented cheekily, winking at the other man before leaning forward and stopping just inches away from him. Tonight was going to be good, if Gus had anything to say about it.

@auguste sometime in the past ... walking into the room when someone was in it was a far better feeling than when it was empty. it was his house but it still felt somewhat cold and empty when it was just him filling it. it was as if he wasn't big enough to fill the space with what it needed and another person certainly made it easier. when he dropped onto the bed he shifted a little, laying slightly on his side as he held the bottle in his hand. he almost shivered when he felt gus run his fingers down his arm and it felt good in all the right places. he felt the corner of his mouth shift up into somewhat of a smirk and he tilted the bottle from side to side almost teasingly. "how about you try and take it from me and we'll go from there?" he said, his eyes following gus' face as it inched closer and closer.
maybe it was the alcohol. maybe it was the freedom of letting go and maybe it was the relief in not having to hold himself together that was helping him feel like every weight had been lifted off his shoulders. he knew it wouldn't last, there was too much to think about in the daylight hours for this feeling to last longer than his hangover but dammed if he wasn't going to enjoy it while it lasted. it took all of three seconds before his hand was reaching out to wrap around the back of gus' neck and he pulled him towards him, while the bottle of firewhiskey dropped to his side as he reached across to wrap his other arm around gus' middle. one hand pulling their faces together till their lips met while the other did it's best to pull their bodies together.

Gus was good at what he did. He knew he was charming when he wanted to be, he'd been practising as a way to escape since he was fourteen. At first it had been innocent but that had lasted for a few months at best. All honesty granted, he hadn't exactly gone down that particular path in a good way. He was lucky he still had people that stuck by him despite all his antics and even now rooted for him. Yet when Teddy taunted him with the bottle Gus just considered that to be an invitation. Anybody that thought they could frustrate him by flirting was wrong. He already got what he needed by the interactions alone and he didn't really need any particular result. Yet he knew which result was most... satisfying.
So he was not at all surprised when Teddy decided the distraction was exactly what he needed as he kissed him. Gus was more than happy to reciprocate, leaning into the kiss and pushing his body against that of the other man at the invitation. And yet Gus loved playing smaller games up to the point he pulled back with a wicked grin on his face, opening the bottle of firewhiskey that Teddy had so carelessly left aside and taking a large swig from it. He hummed slightly. "Almost as delicious as you are." He muttered in a low purring voice as he leaned forward and playfully kissed Teddy's neck. "Are you in a rush?" He asked as he ran his lips over Teddy's neck with a torturously slow pace, heading for his earlobe. He paused briefly before playfully nibbling it. "Or would you like to savour the moment. I can go all night long." He purred in a seductive voice before returning to kissing the other man, letting it be very obvious he was more than willing to take his time to ensure both men would have the best possible night they could make of it. The alcohol was sure to help with that.

@auguste sometime in the past ... teddy let himself sink into the kiss as he felt their bodies press together. it was just the distraction that he needed, something to take his mind off of everything that was happening outside his door. this was his world right now, everything within the walls of his place was the only thing he wanted to focus on and tonight, that happened to be gus. he reached up to wrap his arm around gus's neck just before the other man broke the kiss off and teddy did his best to catch his breath, the mix of alcohol and heat starting to catch up to him. "almost? i'll take that as a compliment." he said as he felt lips press against his neck. he tilted his head to the side slightly before resting his forehead against the curve of gus's shoulder as the other got well acquainted with most of his neck. "take as long as you want." teddy said lowly, his arm still draped around his shoulders, his fingers splayed over the warmth of his skin.
he almost moaned when he felt gus nibble at his ear and it took everything in him not to turn his head and reciprocate the action but he figured there was more than enough time for him to take a few bites out of gus. they weren't on any time constraints and teddy was more than willing to take the time needed for them to both fully enjoy the experience. "let's see who calls uncle first." he said, his voice raspy as he kissed gus back, his hands almost clawing at the back of gus's neck as he pulled the other man down closer to his level, his arm wrapping around his slender waist, feeling out every taught muscle in gus's back as his hand as he pressed himself closer.

It was always very nice to Gus when people were able to take a compliment. He didn't really mind shy people but there were those that felt a pathological need to argue against any compliments you gave them and those people tended to grind his gears. He didn't lie with compliments and while he could easily take some playful deflection he could get very annoyed with people denying the potential he saw in them. He understood there were reasons behind it, but it was something that brought him too much anxiety if he couldn't manage to get through to somebody. His mother had smiled a sad smile at compliments too often and he knew she didn't listen in those moments. He'd lost her and the idea he could lose more than one person in such a painful way was very difficult to him.
"Good." he stated simply. "It was a compliment." Not that he allowed that to distract him from what he desired in that moment. He traced his lips across the skin of the other man, drinking in the distraction like strong alcohol and allowing it to cloud his mind and alter his senses. He didn't need more than this to exist in this moment. Anything else was redundant and could only cause him pain and sorrow.
Gus chuckled for a moment as Teddy suggested seeing who would pull the breaks first. It sounded like a perfect plan, as Gus was already sure that in his state he'd never be the one to stop drowning himself in the moment. If it was a competition on who could last longest without chickening out he was pretty sure he'd last far into the next morning. The only thing to stop him would have been guilt, but that had long since been drowned out by the booze. "Sounds good." Gus whispered before kissing the other man to get him quiet. He pressed his body against that of Teddy, kissing him passionately. It was time to remember and forget, all in the right amounts. This was to be a night worthy of remembering, even if there would be no memories left by morning.

@auguste sometime in the past ... teddy drank in the feeling of gus's lips against his skin, the trace feeling he felt as he moved across, feeling it almost tingle for seconds after his lips were gone. he didn't need anything more in this moment than the alcohol they'd been drinking and the warm body of the other man pressing against him. it was simple enough, it was like a drug in that moment and he couldn't get enough of it and he never wanted to reach the limit. he felt his lips stretch into something of a smile as gus seemed to agree with his plan to see who broke first. he got the hint when gus kissed him again, and teddy complied almost hungrily. he dragged his hands up gus's back to rest them on the back of his neck, one hand pushing further up the back of gus's neck into his hair.
there was no thought in his head at that moment that told him this wasn't the way to cope with how he was feeling. all that he could think about was it felt good, it was more than nice to be wanted and it was easier to forget everything in his head when he was at the mercy of someone else. he used his body weight to roll them, so he was on top of gus, his hands still on the back of his neck as teddy broke the kiss and started to kiss down his jaw, following the line of his jaw down to his neck, following it down towards his shoulder as one of his hands shifted to rest on gus's chest, feeling his heart beating just beneath.

There was an art to losing ones self when with another person. Ego got in the way of such a form of art and Gus often enough seemed to have a rather large ego. Nothing was less true. He was confident in his skills and knew his own limits and abilities but he was very down to earth and more than aware of his own failings, even if he lacked the will to change them regulargly. He considered himself a free spirit, but he was and had been chained by grief and resentment for a very long time. Redemption could await him in rebuilding the bonds with his remaining family but his anger and sadness and towering resentment of the ones that had managed to move on from a loss that still dragged him down kept him from truly moving forward on a path of personal growth. He lost himself often in alcohol and pleasures of the flesh. He failed to care, not because he wasn't able but more because he was unwilling to feel the pain that went along with caring. Caring just enough was easy, as it meant that at the end of the night he could easily move forwards with both parties knowing exactly what to expect. He never pretended to be in for the long run and his reputation made sure nobody in their right mind was to make that particular mistake. Things were simply easier like this.
So tonight Gus was drowning in the presence of Teddy, losing himself in the moment just as he did when writing songs. Nothing mattered outside the music of their bodies and the melody shaped by their very movements. Tomorrow he could put the night to paper and have every line in the music memories as the words would flow on a page of forgetfulness that now envelloped him. He smiled and seemed to be without a care in the world, for all his cares were burried far to deep for anyone to find them, himself included. He smiled up at Teddy as he felt his heart shape the beat to which they were dancing in the moment. He found himself smiling as Teddy rolled them over and he felt himself ease into the touch of the other man, sighing a breath of desire as the hand of the other man landed on his chest to feel the beat of his heart. Gus allowed the moment to linger for a moment, feeling the comfort of being with the other man. It was easy and effortless and ever so intoxicating that it didn't feel as though he'd need alcohol for this night. Still, it always was easier with a drink to forget, it was easier than remembering.

@auguste sometime in the past ... the next morning it had taken them a long while to tire. they had spent the better half of the morning exploring what made the other tick and just when it had seemed neither of them would tire they had fallen into the blissful slumber that fire whiskey and a night well spent often brought about.
teddy awoke to the blanket twisted around his hips, the empty bottle of whiskey from the night before poking into his back and his pillow nowhere in sight. he brought a hand up to his face so drag it across his eyes and it took only a second for the throbbing in his head to remind him just how much he'd had to drink last night. he could feel gus still next to him in the bed next to him, hear the soft breathing as he slept still, or appeared to be asleep still at the very least. teddy rolled onto his side, tucking his hand under his head in leu of his missing pillow and he watched the rise and fall of gus' chest.
he thanked merlin that he didn't need to get up anytime soon, he didn't have work and there was nothing he needed to do other than lay there and try and recover from the night before. it had been a great escape into everything going on right now but even while drunk he'd known he'd have to wake up and face reality again and that's what always sucked about waking up. he sighed as he rolled onto his back and he let his head rest back against his mattress, as uncomfortable as it was while his head was pounding, and he rested his hand against his chest as he took in the silence before the after effects of last night caught up with him.

Waking up with a hangover was just about every other night for Gus, so as he groaned softly to the morning he woke up, dreading the headache that was pounding against his head like a sledgehammer. One would think he'd have grown used to it by now, but reality was very different. Gus hated every hang over and only really believed in one way to fix it. So as he woke, softly grumbling he broke the morning by reopening the bottle the pair had fallen asleep next to and draining whatever contents had been left behind. After that he turned to Teddy. "Morning." He said a little bleary, but that was fine. He rolled over on his side, looking at the gorgeous man he'd had the pleasure of falling asleep with for a moment. "I hope I'm not keeping you from work?" He asked, although it was more to be polite than anything. He himself didn't exactly have a regular nine to five job. Getting drunk usually still meant having over half a day to recover before he was expected to be approachable, not necessarily sober.
He sighed deeply as he sat up and quickly refilled the bottle with water now that the actual content was gone. He knew he had to drink plenty of water, even if he hated water. It was boring and never improved anything in his life. He wasn't that much of a morning person, although it always got better if he could write. It was how he usually spent most of his mornings. He looked over at Teddy and smiled slightly. "Can I bug you for pen and paper? I'd like to do a little bit of work before we dive back into things like fun and breakfast. It helps against the hangover." Mostly true. Gus found that writing helped relax his mind and thus cleared at least the edge of most regular headaches. Besides, he wasn't often one for sleeping in, he liked being active in the morning, in whatever way was available to him. If he stayed in bed to long it usually meant that Phillippe decided to use him as a pillow and that wasn't super comfortable since his darling pet wasn't a cub any more. The two were about the same height, but Phillippe would definitively win if they ever got in a fist-fight.

@auguste sometime in the past ... the next morning teddy jerked back into the land of the living when gus spoke from next to him. when had he fallen back to sleep? how long had he fallen asleep for? his mouth felt like cotton and while the pounding in his head had lessened a little it was still there as a stark reminder of just how much they'd drunk the night before. he lifted his hand from his chest to drag it over his face before he rolled onto his side again and he looked at gus. "morning." he said as he kicked the sheet down a little, the heat from what he'd drunk last night still making him feel hot all over. "i'm not working today." he said, relieved that he didn't have to drag himself out of the bed to make himself look and feel human before he was ready.
he watched as gus went through the motions of sitting up and teddy thought him brave for being able to do that. he did wonder for a second whether he was getting up to get ready to leave but he felt a small feeling of relief that he was just filling up the now empty bottle with water. it was a smart idea but teddy wasn't ready for water, at least not yet. "only if i get to be something of an inspiration." he said with a throaty chuckle as he waved his hand conjured a stack of paper and a pen onto the bedside table. he stretched out slightly, feeling his back crack as he settled back against the pillows. "how are you thinking of breakfast already." he said as he stretched his arm and then bent if behind his head to lean on as he watched gus.

It was always a little bit amusing to see how other people coped with a bad hangover. Usually not that well. He himself spent at least half his time hungover so that also meant the best cure for a hangover tended to be more alcohol for him. He'd already had his morning shot for good fortune. He smiled as the other man mentioned not having to work, as that meant he didn't have to hurry home. He could just relax before he himself had to get to work. Not that such a time was anytime soon.
Teddy agreed to pen and paper on condition that he could be something of an inspiration and Gus grinned slightly. "Naturally, although I can't promise it'll ever make it to the studio. I'm too much of a perfectionist for that." He said with a slight grin as he clicked the pen and started scribbling on the page almost absentmindedly. He ceased for a moment as Teddy asked how he was thinking of breakfast already and he grinned. "I spend half my time hungover and usually start my days early despite them. I'm addicted to the nicer things in life, and I happen to consider my job as one of them." He said with a shrug, tapping the pen against his lips as he thought for a moment. "What do you think of this; We dance throught he flames of the fire that the whiskey left in our throats, the same desires in the tangled nights that are keeping us afloat.." He mused over the lines. They could possibly work in the right beat.. He tapped the pen to his lips, trying out a beat in his head before scrunching up his nose slightly and scribbling some more down. Amber liquids and tangled sheets, we understand each other like heartbeats. It was a little more romantic than the raw energy he often felt in his encounters, but that did sell quite a bit better than the other version might.

@auguste sometime in the past ... the next morning teddy couldn't help but laugh a little as gus said it might not make it to the studio because it could lack perfection. that didn't really bother him much, it was more the act than the final product anyway. he shifted and sat up as gus started scribbling on the paper. spending most of their time hungover was something they had in common. teddy had become somewhat good at hiding it now and pushing through and getting on with his job but there were still times he found himself struggling with it. it wasn't enough to stop him from picking up that bottle the next night though, it was almost as if he couldn't face the darkness night brought without the courage and strength he seemed to be able to find at the bottom of a bottle.
"it's not bad." teddy said as he shifted to lay down across from gus, resting on his elbow and leaning his cheek against his hand. "we dance through the whiskey stained haze in our eyes, until we find ourselves tangled between sheets streamed in sunlight? he said as he glanced to the quill that was still grasped within gus's fingers. he'd never thought of himself to be in any way creative or musical in the slightest and whenever he'd tried to play instruments in the past it only seemed to make people want to run and hide. "casual hookups, are they good for the muse?"

Gus wasn't fully feeling it, which was probably mostly due to the pounding in his head. He shrugged and penned the suggestion that Teddy gave him on the paper with his own, scribbling some more words and lines alongside it. "It sounds awfully romantic, which I don't feel quite does the night justice. There is appeal to fun without the need for romance after all." He mused for a moment as he read over the lines he had so far. He figured he could just sort through it later, but for now he wrote down some more suggestive lines as well. He then chuckled as he looked over at Teddy. "Did you ever consider a career in music? You could try taking up song writing." He teased, although he wasn't attempting to jest. If Teddy wrote something he wouldn't be opposed to recording it. Releasing was a different matter, but that was already a problem with all his own songs. It drove his manager completely up the wall. There was a lot of unreleased material that Gus just didn't want heard. Well, that and he sort of kept it around as a bargaining chip. He didn't want it out there, but if he really wanted something he could alwasy swing those songs around. Even if he wasn't fully happy he knew they'd sell perfectly fine.
As for the question if casual hookups were good for the muse? Gus merely shrugged. "They can be very inspiring but it's not the kind of stuff I ever published. Maybe one day, but for now it's just for the fun of it and the private collection. There are plenty of songs that probably won't see the light of day unless I'd somehow come to pass. I'm pretty sure my manager wouldn't be able to help himself at that point and would throw all recordings on the market for a last bit of cashing in over my dead body. I wouldn't blame him either, since I'd do the same in his shoes." Gus said ever so casually. It was part of reality after all. It wasn't completely unthinkable he'd end up with alcohol poisoning or something if he kept up these habits.

@auguste sometime in the past ... the next morning he chuckled a little when gus said it was romantic and it wasn't really what the night had been or been about. this was true but he couldn't help but feign a look of hurt and overexaggerated pain on his face. "you mean that's all i am to you? a midnight booty call?" he said as he rested a hand against his chest as he laughed the look off his face. he shook his head a little. he knew that's all they were. there was nothing there but fun, some affection and for him, he cared for gus.
but there was nothing romantic really about what they did and the time they spent together. it was distraction, it was passion and it was the heat of the moment. the mornings spent in bed afterwards weren't horrible either. "oh there isn't a musical bone in my body." he said as he stretched out on the opposite side of the bed to gus, resting on his elbow as he faced the man. "you should hear me sing in the shower."
"well isn't what they say true? that people are worth more when they're dead because then everyone wants a piece?" he knew it was a little morbid to say but it was the truth. people didn't like to speak ill of the dead, they liked to collect things that had belonged to them and some people really did take the whole obsession thing too far. he'd seen some weird stuff while working at the ministry and if he already hadn't suffered from nightmares and sleeping problems, he'd have gained them while working there. "can i keep your car?" he said with a grin, joking one hundred percent.
