▲ September 6th, 2025 - Friday Night The week before and after the start to the Hogwarts school year was always stressful for some reason. The first year Finn had been in London, she really hadn’t worried too much, but with her sister attending now it changed everything. Adding on top of that her return to the MACUSA Aurors and it was beyond ridiculous how much they had been running her ragged. She would have quit again had it not been for the ridiculous amount of hazard pay they were giving her for hunting down the escaped Azkaban convicts. That had gone virtually nowhere as far as she could tell, and all of the American Aurors that had been sent over were only being used as extra security. She had the feeling that the higher-ups in the government thought that soft targets (ie children and big events) were prime for these escapees. From the profiles Finn had been provided, she figured they were simply all in hiding or out of the country already. If they had managed to get out before the borders were locked down for those few months, they could have made it anywhere in the world by now. If it was hard enough to locate them in London, how were they expected to hunt them down elsewhere? Thankfully the students had gotten to school without a hitch and the paperwork had been fairly easy to complete. The only problem was that her parents kept sending her stuff to mail to Ellie, and Finn had no idea if these were things she had forgotten or that they figured she would need for school this year. Finn’s poor owl had done laps back and forth between Hogwarts and her apartment numerous times already, and she had to yell at her parents to give her a break. They had given her room during her first year in London, but now that Ellie was there it was like they couldn’t leave her alone at all. She had a feeling it had something to do with being back on the force, but didn’t want to attribute it only to that. But who really knew? She was working again had done okay for herself up until now, minus her short break from it all. In her opinion, they really didn’t need to worry about her as much as they were doing. Getting off of work after a long day of planning new buildings to search and leads to follow, Finn managed to wander home briefly to take her dog for a walk before getting hungry and deciding to hit up her favorite diner. It was pretty far from her apartment, but the food was worth it. She usually found herself there late at night or early in the morning after pulling late shifts, so the employees were a little shocked to see her there at normal dinner hours. Finn parked herself at a countertop seat and ordered her usual, a ridiculously large omelet, with everything in it, and a coffee. They apparently had a dinner menu here, but she liked her breakfast food more than anything else. Lazily leaning on the counter as her coffee was pushed towards her, she found herself engrossed in the television sitting up in the corner, the no-maj news playing. Enough so that she hadn’t noticed the person sitting down next to her. @buffy ● 558 ● Teenage Cleopatra by The 5,6,7,8s MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

September 6th, 2025 - Friday Night Buffy had been trying to find the girl her knew track had been on all day, but she was as elusive as ever. Still, she knew by now that the redhead often came through the muggle world and seemed comfortable there, so Buffy was sure she was either born of no-maj's or a half-breed of some kind. Gross. Tonight Buffy was on a walk, checking her devices often in case there was a hit on anything... then she saw it. She lifted the telescope to her eyes and looked through it, there she was, turning a corner. Buffy quickly pocketed it and ran another direction. If she had a guess, she would think the witch was going to her favorite diner - or at least, the one Buffy had seen her go into a lot. Perhaps she didn't work today or something, considering Buffy rarely saw her during these hours. Actually, she wasn't sure if she ever had seen her around at this time. Buffy arrived at the diner and hung back a little, waiting until the redhead sat down to calmly sit down beside her. "Pancakes, please, double stacked," she ordered, "extra whipped cream."

▲ Finn didn’t get peeved when people sat directly next to her at the diner counter, but she did when the rest of the seats were wide open. It would be one thing if the new arrival next to her had been a few seats away and then they’d struck up a conversation, eventually inviting one of them to move closer to make the whole thing easier. Suddenly feeling another person’s shoulder opposite her made her instinctively scooch herself over on the round seat a few inches, enough to create some space between them. Pretty soon here her food would be out and she didn’t want to be elbowing the person in the side every time she took a bite. Finn liked having a wide berth when eating, which was why she opted for the counter during the dinner rush, so as not to take up an entire booth from other customers. But here she was, hungrily waiting for her dinner and feeling suddenly crowded by this new person. She did her best to ignore them, only turning her attention from the TV to the woman when she heard her order her own food. It was one thing to put in an order for double-stacked pancakes with extra whipped cream; it was another to sound so stereotypically American. That sort of made the whole feeling crowded thing go away briefly, when she realized the woman was probably just like her and wanting to get a slight taste of home. “They do a good job here,” Finn commented after the waitress left to put the woman’s order in. “It’s almost like being at a diner back home.” The same couldn’t be said about the pizza places around here, but Finn knew she was never going to get a decent slice while in London. That was one thing she was dying to have the second she could finish her work here and go home. The plan had been to go home for the summer for at least a month, but the entirety of the UK being locked down for magical folk had prevented that, unfortunately. Now her parents wanted to come here for Christmas again, so it was looking like it was going to be at least another year until her return to New York. At least she still had this diner. @buffy ● 389 ● Little Girl, Gen by Coeur de Pirate MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
