While the hospital in general wasn't a place Vas wanted to be, ever, it seemed that would be the only thing that would put Felix at ease. So, she'd go. She'd let them fuss, and then just tell her to go home and rest. And she'd listen. But she couldn't rest long. She'd have to get back to all her work soon. Because if she didn't do it, who would? To be honest, Vasilia, despite being good with people, didn't seem to understand that people wanted, or were capable of helping. Like Felix. For some reason she seemed to be convinced that he was still a child. That she still had to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders, to spare him from the burden.
Vasilia let out a slow breath, as it to work up the energy to move, and, thankfully, with Felix's help she was able to get to her feet. Slowly, painstakingly. The world spun violently and her head throbbed. But somehow, she managed to stay on her feet. Again, in most part due to Felix's support. Waves of nausea hit so, when Felix mentioned her backpack she just nodded, not daring to speak. She'd need that.

September 8, 2025 Felix was relieved that Vas was able to get to her feet, at a minimum, but he didn't know for how long she would be able to stay there. She still didn't look fantastic, and they needed to get to St. Mungo's. With one arm continuing to keep Vas upright, Felix reached down to grab her backpack and then his wand with the other, slinging the bag haphazardly onto his shoulder so that he could carry it and keep his wand on hand while focusing on his sister. Not that they weren't anything but pale anyway, but the color was still gone from her complexion. "I've got you, Vas. We'll go in just a second," he reassured her as he straightened himself back up, doing what he could to keep her calm as he began to picture the exterior of the hospital—or that of the "department store" Purge and Dowse, Ltd.—in his mind. It wasn't hard; they had both been there so many times that he knew it like the back of his hand. For Vas's sake, though, he counted down softly. "Three… Two… One…"They materialized in front of the brick department store, and Felix hurriedly explained to the mannequin in the window that it was an emergency. He was still supporting Vas, and he assisted her in stepping into the reception area, where he immediately scanned the room for an available chair for Vas before he had even spoken to anyone on staff. Vas needed to sit, if not lie down again; he couldn't keep her standing like that forever, with her backpack weighing him down on the other side. "We're here," he breathed to Vas, offering her a little smile. They had made it inside the hospital, fortunately. vasilia abigail fortescueOOC: Sora gave me permission to Apparate them there.

Vasilia was used to side-a-long apparation. Since she could apparate herself, friends and family always had to take her with them if they wanted a quick trip. Though, often times, Vas was too stubborn to accept the aid if it was for her own needs, an not theirs (like if she wanted to go somewhere and someone offered to take her). She tried to hold onto him as best she could, as the last thing that they needed was for one of them to get splinched from a botched apparation.
Felix found a place for her to sit while he checked her in, and she leaned forward, head in her hands to try and stop the spinning. She was just tired. That was all that was wrong, she was sure of it. But Felix was stubborn. Something he got from her, she supposed. After a few minutes, they were called back, and, with help from the healer, Vas and Felix were taken to a room. Once on the bed, the healer began to run a few tests. Drawing blood, checking her blood pressure, etc. The healer left the room for a bit before returning with the results of the exam. It was... almost what Vas had expected, though hated to hear. Exhaustion, low on a few vitamins (because her diet of caffeine obviously didn't give her body the energy it needed), and dehydrated from too much coffee/not enough water. Basically, Vasilia had done quite the number on her body and run herself absolutely ragged. In fact, the healer was a bit surprised she hadn't collapsed sooner, after seeing the test results. The recommendation though was simple. Actually get some sleep, drink lots of fluids, and eat actual food (though they advised not to try anything too harsh, just soups and other foods that were easy on the stomach for a few days while her body tried to recover.).
Vasilia let out a groan after the healer left the room, to get all the recommendations written down for them. Despite just being told that she should rest for a few days, her mind immediately jumps to everything she would need to do if she took a few days off. How was she going to catch up on everything?
(just gunna vague over them getting checked in/called back/situated/etc)

September 8, 2025 Fortunately, the Healer who attended to Vas learned that there wasn't anything wrong with her other than exhaustion. Felix didn't want to think about what it might have been like if something else were seriously wrong. Their father was ill enough, and none of them needed any more stress on top of that. Trying to convince Vas to take a step back—even just for a few days—to take proper care of herself was going to be difficult; Felix knew that, but Vas would be better off in the long run for it. He had stayed with her all the while, making mental notes on everything that had been suggested to her while the Healer was still in the room. And then, when they were alone again, Vas groaned, obviously annoyed that she was being told to rest for once. It was better that than the alternative, thought Felix, who forced a smile in his sister's direction. He dragged his chair closer to Vas's bed and reached out his hand to her. He was still there. "Look, Vas. The Healer's right. You need your rest, and no one's going to think any less of you. I'll make sure everything's alright with the pub and the ice cream parlor," he promised. It wasn't really Vas's one-woman show, though she might have felt like it. It mattered just as much to him, and there were other employees who could help out. "And I'll help you get everything sorted with the Muggles, too." He didn't mind, and he hoped that they would understand that people fell ill occasionally. Besides, she technically shouldn't have been working around food while under the weather; the Muggles didn't need to know that it wasn't anything contagious. "Just tell me what you need me to do, and I'll do it, alright?"vasilia abigail fortescue

Vasilia really hated this. The healer being right. About her having worked herself to this point. About being so... weak, and unable to handle more. It was humiliating, needing help. Vasilia was a stubborn fool, though she'd never admit it. She took on more then she could handle because... well honestly she felt like she had to. She felt like she couldn't let anyone down. She didn't want Felix to have to share in the burdens because he was still a kid (not really, but she was in denial about that) and he shouldn't have to worry about it. He should be going out and enjoying his life. Do what people his age did. Though, to be honest, Vasilia should follow her own advise in that regard. She hadn't been out to a club in a few months, the last time being over the summer.
She closed her eyes, feeling the urge to hit her head against the wall for being in this situation, but that wouldn't really help her recovery. Felix spoke, and she opened her eyes. She really... really hated this. "I can't afford sick days, Felix." She finally responded. At least in her mind, she couldn't. He told her to tell him what she needed him to do and she pursed her lips tightly. No, she didn't want to tell him. Didn't want to put the burden on his shoulders. But... if she gave him at least a little... Maybe it would help reassure him. So that she could get back to her routine as quickly as possible. "You could take the pay log to Gringotts later..." There. That was something. Easy, simple. And most likely something she wouldn't be able to do today at this rate.

September 8, 2025 "I can't afford sick days, Felix." While Vas was right in that it would be an added challenge for a little while, it was one that didn't need to be on her shoulders. She couldn't afford not to take a step back. It was her body's way of reminding her that she needed to slow down, that she didn't need to be doing everything at once, and Felix didn't want to see his sister suffering, either. She had burned out and needed time to get back on her feet. Vas did consider one thing, which was that he could take the pay log to the bank later. Felix knew that he could do that; it wasn't a problem. And if there was anything that he needed directions for before doing it, Vas could still walk him through the steps of it. She just didn't need to be on her feet and stressing herself out. "You're lucky you fainted before you left and not whilst you were out," he pointed out to her as kindly as he could. Vas could have injured herself really seriously, and it was a good thing that she hadn't. "I'll take care of the pay log." Felix knew that Vas didn't want to be at St. Mungo's and that she didn't want to be told that she couldn't keep up the pace at which she'd been working, but it was necessary. "As I said, just tell me what you need me to do, and I'll do it. It's not a problem."vasilia abigail fortescue

Felix didn't answer, and it wasn't exactly reassuring. Because it didn't give Vas a chance to convince him to let her keep working. She couldn't convince him that she was fine. That give her a few hours and she'd be on her feet, right as rain. With a sigh, she leaned back, her head on the uncomfortable hospital bed pillow and staring up at the ceiling. She really hated hospitals. She was so sick of them. Nothing good happened at hospitals for the Fortescues. Because this was where they'd found out that their dad would die. His illness was terminal. Someday, he'd lose his fight and the family would lose their father. When that day came, they'd be at the hospital. Here. Saying their goodbyes. Hospitals only brought pain. And would continue to do so.
Vas also hated admitting Felix was right. She had been very lucky that she'd collapsed in the shop and not on the streets. Where people wouldn't have known her. Maybe not helped her. Her lips pursed even tighter together, just a thin line. "I know," she muttered. He seemed to accept the one thing she'd given up, but then he asked for her to tell him what she needed him to do. As if knowing she was withholding as much as she could. She let out a slow breath. She'd already given up one thing, wasn't that enough? Felix was just a kid. He didn't need all the responsibilities. "Fine. You can do the inventory at the shop tonight..." There, that was something else. The shop she was a bit more willing to give up a little control. But it would be like pulling teeth it he tried to get her to give up Pub responsibilities.

September 8, 2025 Vas gave in only in the slightest. "Fine," she replied to him. "You can do the inventory at the shop tonight…"
"Yeah, Vas," Felix replied, nodding. "I'm on it. Not a problem at all." He wasn't about to argue with her, even though he knew that she knew that that wasn't what he had meant. he was happy to take on anything and everything that he needed to do until she was well again—and even after that, if it would ease her workload. Inventory wasn't really that challenging; it would just take a little bit more time to do it on his own, but he hoped that there would be at least one other employee willing to stick around to make sure that it got done more quickly. He'd also make sure that things were handled over at the pub. If he had to go over there himself, he would. It wouldn't be forever, and Vas—in spite of her trying to act as though everything was alright—needed the assistance.
"Is there anything else I need to do tonight?" he asked, trying to make sure that he had a clear picture of the pub's operations, especially, because he didn't really have a hand in that.

Vasilia let out a heavy breath and closed her eyes. She could feel her heart beating loudly in her chest. Anxiety from her current location. She really hated hospitals. As a patient, as a visitor. She hated it. But, at least according to the healer, they didn't feel a need to keep her long. So, hopefully they'd discharge her when they came back. Felix, bless him, readily agreed to do the inventory as well. She should trust him more. WHile he hadn't worked the shop nearly as much as she had, he wasn't a stranger to it. Hell, she probably had more experience then Ilija and Felix combined. But they'd been raised in the business as well. Their parents hadn't just taught her. She'd just had the most time at it. So... she knew he could do it. Knew he was capable. If she just gave him the chance.
Vas opened her eyes and raised her head. "Just... Just check on the pub? They can run it without me, just tell them to close the kitchen for the night." The pub could run on it's own a little easier. Her bartenders and staff could run the front of the bar without her assistance. THey'd be busy, sure, since the bar was short staffed, but capable. "And please don't tell mum and dad? Please." The last thing they needed was to worry them...

September 8, 2025 "Just… Just check on the pub? They can run it without me, just tell them to close the kitchen for the night."
He could do that. It would make it easier on everyone, and Felix was sure that that was part of why Vas had chosen to bring it up. She wouldn't lose out that much, and it would be better than closing the pub entirely for the night. The staff could upsell the alcohol if they had to. He knew that Vas knew what she was doing.
Vas also asked him not to tell their parents, either, and he nodded. She'd be in and out of St. Mungo's before they would know otherwise. "Yeah, I'll make sure the employees over at the pub know to close the kitchen for tonight. And I'll let you tell Mum and Dad," Felix assured her. "I don't know if Mum'll find out from someone here," because there was always that chance that someone from St. Mungo's would mention it, "but you'll be alright, Vas."
