Maria wasn't really a "Halloween" person. Not because she didn't like Halloween, but because she usually had better things to do. Plus, most people thought Halloween was for children. But, non-the-less, here she was, joining in the festivities. Mostly because it could still be fun. The whole midnight event sounded pretty interesting specifically. It wasn't midnight yet though. She'd come a few hours early to check out the rest of the island. That's when she'd spotted Hag's Trick or Treats, a little stand selling a variety of sweet foods. Well... who was she to say no? She had a bit of a sweet tooth, after all!
Stepping up to the display she leaned in just a touch, to eye the variety of goods. There were so many options! How could she pick just one? Well, not alone... She didn't straighten, but her gaze moved to the nearest person, looking up at them through her eyelashes. "Have any suggestions?'

Silver wanted to be nice. His sister had suffered quite a bit more than he had during the entire process of becoming animagi and he figured that some sweets might cheer her up a bit. He'd been pondering several different flavours, not really paying much attention to his surroundings.
That was until somebody asked him his opinion on the candy. He grunted slightly as he considered, completely forgetting his manners for a moment. "Probably lollipops or something. I'm just as lost as you are." Then he looked to the side, blinking in somewhat stunned astonishment at the beauty next to him. He opened his mouth but found himself lost for words for a moment. "Sweet goodness you're beautiful." He accidentally flapped out, not quite sure why on earth he did that. This is why he usually stuck to books.

Maria took in the boy she'd spoken to. Younger than her. Maybe one of the Hogwarts students running the event? He wasn't behind the counter though, so at least not working. He didn't seem that invested in his answer, telling her "lollipops for something", before even looking at her. Then he did, and the boy seemed to reel, blurting out that she was beautiful. That was pretty normal, to be honest. But, she still loved to hear it. She straightened, brushed a lock of hair from her eyes and smiled. It was a tame, but very charming smile. "Thank you." She better damn look beautiful. She'd spent an hour getting ready to come out tonight!
Though, the question was still in the air, what to buy? Also, why not mess with the kid a bit while she was at it? "Have you tried anything from here before?" She made her her accent came out a little heavier, like a fresh faced foreigner. Sure, she was a foreigner, but she'd been in the country a few years now. "I just don't know, it's all so different from home."

She kept up a conversation? Wait, had he not made himself idiot enough? More chances! Sort of. He didn't want to. She had to be one of the most attractive people he'd ever laid eyes on. He managed a weak little smile as she thanked him.
Her accent seemed to grow a little thicker all of a sudden, which struck him as odd. He shrugged slightly at her words. "I believe you. It's already a big difference between here and where I grew up." He said then, attempting to relax his posture. It wasn't quite working. "Chocolate is always good right? I'm trying to pick up something for my twin but I have no clue what to buy her." Thinking of Aura calmed his nerves a little. She was going to bully him relentlessly about this later and he didn't really want to make that worse than it already would be.

Aw, he managed to smile. It looked a little forced, but Maria would take it. A smile was better than nothing. He was also responding in coherent sentences, also a good sign. Sure, he was too young for Maria, but that didn't mean she couldn't have some fun. The offer of chocolate was a good one, and Maria nodded. "Chocolate is always a great gift for girls. Though, I don't know about twin. Chocolate is a gift of lovers." She sighed dramatically, looking back at the display. She was hoping the last word might make him squirm a bit. "That so nice of you. Your sister is lucky to have such a generous brother." Okay, she as laying it on a little thick, but who cared?
She looked to the student running the stall. "Three chocolate croissants." She reached into her pocket, pulling out the necessary coins, and set them on the counter. The student handed her two small paper bags. Since all three wouldn't fit into one. Maria turned to the boy and offered him the bag with the two croissants. "For you and your sister. You can never go wrong with a chocolate croissant."

It was very odd to be stuck in a situation where he wanted to impress but was absolutely mortified of making a fool of himself, which ended with him being stuck without the courage he wanted to actually interact in the way he felt was productive but at the same time cursing himself for not being able to do so. He clung to her every word, processing everything she told him in a way that only somebody with the brain of a scholar would. He wasn't very good at feeling things, he tended to overthink things. He wasn't usually this bad if he knew the other side of the conversation had something to gain, but he honestly doubted that anything he could say or do would impress a girl like her. She probably wanted somebody tall and strong or something. Nerds were not usually high on the list for beautiful woman. He figured throwing caution to the wind a bit wasn't the worst. If he made himself look like an idiot Aura might even pity him just a little bit? He gathered all his courage and smiled, although it didn't come natural just yet. "Do you like chocolates then? I could get you some, if you'd like?" He really hoped he wouldn't start drooling, although the compliment made him kind of uncomfortable. He was pretty sure Aura didn't feel the same way.
But then she ordered the croissants and he couldn't help but chuckle slightly, looking up with the first genuine smile. "Thanks. It's been a long time since I had any. I never really wanted to buy them. My mom used to make them for us when we still lived in France, but I think I'll take a chance on this one. If nothing else the memory of your beauty will make them taste all the better." And there it was, he could finally say something that sounded so stupid to his mind that it would either be really smooth and cool or make her burst out into laughter and he'd just die of shame on his way back to Hogwarts with his shame, sadness and croissants.

The boy offered to buy her chocolate. It was cute, but also unoriginal. You should see her on Valentine's Day. She got far to much chocolate on that day. Too many admirers that had become victims to the Veela charm. "What girl doesn't love chocolate?" She wouldn't deny it. Though, she didn't know how she felt about someone so much younger than her buying her chocolates. Would that make her a cougar?
Maria smiled brightly as the boy thanked her. See, she could be normal and not angry and intense! When she wanted.... "Oh, I'm sure they're nowhere near as good as home cooked." Though he continued, and her smile widened, turning into a full blown grin. "Well, now you'll have to buy them more often, so you can think of me every time." He'd really hit the vain nerve there and she just couldn't stop herself from responding.

What was it about her that kept him so invested? This wasn't usually like him, considering the fact she wasn't a book. Yet it was almost like she was a drug and he just couldn't get enough of her. He barely wanted to look in a different direct in order to purchase sweets or anything. He took her comment on every girl liking chocolates as an invitation to buy her some though. He did take a moment to dig through his memories for remembering what Aura liked so he could buy her something as well if he was purchasing candy either way. He also attempted to figure out which chocolates would be best to buy. He ended up going with the ones that had a little cherry liquor in them. It seemed like a good idea?
He paid and then offered her the little pouch of alcoholic treats. "Mademoiselle." He said, his French of course flawless due to him being French. He'd put the bag of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans in his bag to give to his sister later. He nodded mutely about the part that home cooked would always be better. It would, but it had been years. His smile returned in full force as she mentioned buying them more often to think of her. "I'll have to be careful or I'll barely eat anything else. Yet still I feel that much like home cooked, seeing your face is much better than the mere memory of it."

This boy really was cute. Underage, definitely. But cute. And boy was he being hit hard by the Veela charm. He probably didn't encounter Veelas and their offspring often. That, or he was just genuinely attracted to her, and the charm just made it ten times worse. Who knew. But it was charming, and cute, to see him fumbling. To bad he wasn't a few years older, or she wasn't a few years younger. He seemed like someone she could easily manipulate into more. But, alas. underage.
Hetook a moment, trying to decide, before purchasing some chocolates and handing her the bag. She flashed her most charming smile. "Merci." She didn't speak French fluently, but she knew some. Maria knew quite a few languages, due to her upbringing, so she tended to pick them up quite easily. French was one she hadn't had many opportunities to learn though. Since all the french speaking students had gone to Beauxbaton, and not Durmstrang. Most her French came from the Triwizard tournament. She'd had quite a few french partners that had been very eager to teach her some of their language. "Alas, that's true. Memories are never as good as the real thing." She twirled a strand of her hair between her fingers. "You know, I don't know your name yet. I'm Maria."

She asked his name and for just a moment he completely forgot what his name was supposed to be. He smiled slightly, saving his own skin as best as he could. "I'm sorry for not introducting myself." It was an easy way to buy just that extra moment of time. "My name is Argentum." It was easier in Latin somehow. It felt a lot more dignified that way than calling himself Silver. Who'd settle for Silver if they could possibly get gold? At times he felt like he was second best, but he was more than away that he and his sister were very much equal and not likely to be less than the other (or even allow the other to think it possible for more than just a small moment). They both had their own strengths of course, but that was what made them such an excellent duo when they wanted to get anything at all done. Both clever and both great and managing the various different sides of learning. They complimented each other perfectly.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Maria." He then added with a smile. He was going to commit that name to memory, along with her face. She was so incredibly beautiful. He'd never seen anything like it before. He vaguely felt as if he should know a reason that she appealed to him more than most girls but he couldn't quite put a finger on it. It was like something about her disturbed the clarity in his otherwise crystal clear mind. Not that he was concerned. There were worse situations for such things to happen. He didn't actually need his knowledge currently.

It took the boy a moment, several moments in fact, to answer. And when he did it was very formal and cute. She was grinning almost ear to ear, as he finally managed to spit out his own name. "Argentum," she repeated softly. She liked the way it rolled off the tongue. "I've never heard that name before. It suits you." It was quite unique. Unlike her own, though she quite enjoyed her name as well. She liked the way her named sounded in different accents, everyone saying it a little different.
"Pleasure to meet you too." She answered, purely out of common courtesy. They seemed to be blocking the stand, so, she continued. "Care to walk? Your twin must be waiting. I can help you find her." She wasn't necessarily asking to end the conversation, but it might help him relax a bit if he had something to help focus on instead of just her Veela charm. Though, it was quite cute to see him stumble.

To hear his name from her lips was quite intoxicating. That pretty much sealed the deal. There had to be some form of magic at work here because he didn't like his name all that much. He usually didn't even use it, prefering his nickname over his official name. It seemed he was like his element in that way. He totally wasn't in his element at all though. He missed the books for that, namely those on how to do flirting. Maybe if he'd actually read up on that he'd be somewhat decent at it. He did smile at her compliment at his name. "Thanks. My twin got the better deal though. She's Aurum, although I suppose it suits a girl better." It all made sense, but there were of course days he was still a tiny bit salty about that.
He nodded as she suggested walking, at that moment realising that they were kind of holding the line at the stand. He wasn't usually the most observant guy but this was a whole new level of unobservant that he wasn't quite used to. He didn't like it. Still, he realised he was following even before he'd decided to do so. Magic. He then looked at her curiously, mentally going through both his mind and that of his twin for information on what this magic could be. It didn't take him very long to have a possible explanation. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but do you have Veela blood perchance? I'm noticing some abberations is my cognitive functions that would be easily explained that way." Well, it seemed like words weren't too easy. He had wanted to sound smart, now he just came off as pretentious. He really needed to get a flirting course or something it seemed. Either that or a very good reality check in order to go back to his wonderful corner of hermithood.

The younger boy made a comment, downplaying his name an saying his sister's was much better. Yes, Aurum was an interesting name as well. But still... She twirled a lock of hair between her fingers, mulling over his words for a moment. "I don't think so. She should be jealous of your name." Of course, that was in part just Maria being a relentless flirt. But she was also an incredibly self confident person, so she naturally liked it when others were self confident.
He followed her almost without any hesitation. Not much surprise. He was really struggling with the Veela charm. It was cute. Like a love sick puppy. She made sure to match her pace with his own as they walked. He spoke first, and she turned her head to look at him, smirking just a little. He was asking her about Veela blood, but the way he was doing it was.. refreshing? It sounded so clinical. "Aberrations in your cognitive functions?" She teased. It was actually pretty adorable the way he'd asked. Though he'd used words not in her English vocabulary (what the hell did "Aberration" mean? She'd have to look it up later). "That's a roundabout way of saying you're infatuated." She hadn't actually said he was right in his assumptions though, so she felt she could at least throw him a bone. "I do have some Veela blood, yes."
