This was so, so STUPID. It was Dusti's night off, for crying out loud! She was working night shifts currently, so being awake at this hour was totally fine. But getting a call about a certain someone drunk at the casino and needing a way home? Not exactly her idea of fun. Drinking in general was stupid. But, none the less, it wasn't a call she could ignore.
So, shrugging on a hoody and some shoes, Dusti forced herself away from her movie night and headed out. She made sure to grab a spare hangover potion she kept in the cupboard, specifically for these occasions, and stuffed it in her hoody pocket. She was at the casino in only a few minutes, glaring whenever someone took a step too close to her, and snapping at one of the employees that tried to offer her refreshments.
Dusti reached the bar and spotted the culprit. "You know, you could buy a house with the amount you spend on f*cking alcohol," she scolded him as she took the seat next to Renard Goyle. "You going to keep drowning your sorrows or cut your loses for the night?"

▲ Today was shit, and tomorrow was bound to be even worse. The Ministry had been in a scramble since early in the morning, reports of something occurring around the island of Hy-Brasil, in which Renard had heard very little of before today. There had already been memos slapped on his desk and an order to head over there in the morning, and he already wasn’t looking forward to it. So much that he had requisitioned a half a day of work so that he could ‘study’ the island and the creatures that he would potentially be dealing with. From what he could tell, there was going to be a lot of thinking in the moment once he arrived there, since there was very little research given to the Ministry. A lot of his work for the foreseeable future would be in with the help of the locals and magizoologists being sent. He certainly didn’t see eye to eye with the latter has much as he should, their own methods of creature removal differing greatly. Renard followed Ministry policy on everything though, so it wasn’t his fault if things got a little dicey on some jobs. There would surely be a few like that on the island. Finishing up early so that he could pack for the next morning, Renard barely scraped together a bag before he decided he needed to get away from it all for a few hours. So it was the usual for him; heading to the casino to sit at the bar and waste the night away. He could shake off the hangover the next morning, and if not, he was sure the hospitality of the druids would fix him right up. A lot of things could be blamed on portkey travel, including nausea. It was late when the normal bartender mumbled something at Renard about making a call. He had been too far gone for a few hours now, and figured it was nearing closing time. Any second now last call would be made, he’d get one more drink, and then stumble home. Being here was better than being stuck in the flat with Ondina. Fake real engagement or not, he still disliked her and the position he had put himself in. He’d never hear the end of it if he ruined her beauty sleep by loudly banging around his apartment at whatever hour it was. “That’s an-that’s an excellent point,” Renard responded to the disembodied voice that was suddenly next to him, half-hiccupping in the middle of it. He took a long, drawn out sip of his drink, contemplating the voice as it offered up two options. Since when was his conscience so aggressive? Usually that was more restrained and logical than whatever actually came out of his mouth. Turning his head, he had to lean back in his seat and blink a few times. “Fuck.” That’s what the bartender meant by making a call. He had given Dusti Flint’s information to them over a year ago, and had thankfully only had them use it a few times. “Why’re you here?” Renard slurred, motioning for the bartender to get him another drink. Except his oldest friend and enabler shook his head. He was cut off. @dusti ● 540 ● July by Beach Bunny MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Was it just Dusti, or had Renard been drinking more and more lately? Though, she couldn't really blame him. He'd dug his own grave by getting into bed with Ondina Weasley. The bitch. Dusti had been year mates with the Weasley. In fact, Dusti's year had had a notorious bunch of Slytherin girls. It had been a very volatile dorm. She could imagine just what Renard's apartment was like. If she had been in his shoes she might even have picked up drinking. Nonetheless getting black out drunk without a designated apparator was just a moronic idea. How had he planned on getting him? Though, obviously that was where she came in. The person the bar called if he reached a point where they doubted he'd get home safe.
Dusti raised an eyebrow as he answered and hiccuped. Damn, he was absolutely wasted. She hadn't seen him this drunk in a while. She leaned an elbow on the bar as he took another sip from his glass. God, was he still not done? He leaned back and finally seemed to realize who she was. She gave him a "are you serious?" look as he questioned why she was there. "I heard a certain alcoholic was trying to drink himself to death," she answered. Despite his clear intoxication he was trying to order another drink. While the bartender refused, Dusti still shot the man an intense glare. They better not try to serve him another. To ensure he was totally caught off, she reached over, taking the glass he'd just finished off and sliding it away. "Come on, let's get you home." No doubt he'd have a killer hangover tomorrow, hence the potion in her pocket. She'd have a mind not to give it to him so he'd suffer though.

▲ This was real bad. Under any normal circumstances, he wouldn’t have cared if Dusti helped him home. That was the whole point of having her number saved by the bar. But things had changed the last few months. Ondina preyed on everything and anything that he had going on in his life. She probably already knew where he was, and would expecting his return at any moment. Strolling up to his flat with Dusti holding him on his feet was going to be like tossing gasoline on the already blazing fire. Renard knew they had been in the same year in Slytherin, and could only imagine what having the Flint twins and Ondina Weasley all in one dorm room was like. Amazing that they all survived, maybe? “No, no. I’m f-fine here,” he hiccupped, not accustomed to talking after having that much to drink. He tapped his finger on the bar again to try and tell the bartender that he wanted another drink again, completely forgetting that only moments earlier he had been cut off. “Oh come on man,” Renard groaned as he watched him shake his head again. “How about a fucking water then? Am I cut off from that too?” His voice rose enough that the few other patrons sitting on the other end of the bar looked up at him. Even in his blurred vision he could see one lean to the other and say something. Renard threw his hands above his head at them, trying to show he wasn’t an oblivious drunk. Feeling Dusti reach around him to push the empty liquor glass away made him huff through his nostrils. He exemplified his frustration in the situation further by hastily drinking out of the water glass the bartender had since returned with, spilling a good portion of it down his front. “Alright. Fine.” After the mess he had made, it finally clicked that this was it for the night. Renard slid off of the barstool and started towards the door, completely forgetting that his jacket was still draped over his seat. @dusti ● 345 ● Porcelain by Skott MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Drusti was not amused by his current attitude. Saying he was fine, all while hiccuping and so clearly intoxicated she wouldn't be surprised if he started throwing up soon. She'd seen it before. Grown up with it. She tolerated Renard's drunken haze, however, because he was a very different drunk then her mother had been. That still didn't mean she liked it. Didn't like seeing him drink himself this deep without any consideration of the consequences. She raised an eyebrow though, silently judging his defiance and his attempt to get yet another drink. At least the bar tender was being responsible and refusing.
Though it seemed this second rejection solidified his being cut off. By the noise he made, and downing the water that was put in front of him. Well, that was better then nothing. Though considering how much he'd drank she doubted it would help. He was going to have a wicked hang over. She let out a sigh and shook her head as he started off, accepting his fate but clearly forgetting something. She picked up the jacket, and followed, offering just a slight glance to the bar tender, before falling into step beside Renard. She draped the jacket over her arm. So he didn't lose it again. "Any special occasions for drinking tonight or did a moody bitch piss you off?" Yes, she was still judging him for "hooking up" with Ondina. She'd never approve of that situation. And she'd never stop reminding him how stupid it was.

▲ “Ha!” Renard scoffed as he stumbled away from the casino bar and towards the front entrance. He knew the path well, and sometimes he swore that the well-worn grooves in the dulling red carpet were all because of him. They did follow his exact path to and from the outside world to his drunken paradise. A sober train of thought would put two and two together that this was the same route everyone took to the bar, as it was the only way from the entrance. His inebriated brain liked to think otherwise, and he wanted to ramble on to Dusti about how the worn down carpet was all because of him. He then remembered the reason for his exclamatory remark though, and that was because his ward had asked about his reason for drinking. Which one was tonight again? Parents? Work? Ondina? Pretty soon here, he was going to have a reason for every day of the week. Right now he had to deal with doubling up on each of his main issues. Ondina usually won out, since he hated going home with her there now. But that begged the question: did Dusti know about his falsified engagement? She certainly knew about other aspects of his asinine relationship with the Weasley girl. Somehow he kept fucking that one up big time. The second she had imbedded her claws into him, it was like he felt obligated to go crawling back to her. It was honestly pathetic. If there had been any other eligible contenders his age that were anywhere close to being better than her and could deal with him, he would have offered it to them in a heartbeat. Ondina alone stood there when he went calling though, and he deserved everything that came now. Comeuppance at its finest, really. “Some island full of hippy nature freaks had shit go down today, so they’re sending me there to deal with their missing animals. Make sure none of them come here and fuck things up,” he explained as he exited the casino. Was that classified? He couldn’t remember in his current haze. Either way, the public would know soon, and it wasn’t like Dusti would go blabbering everywhere about it. If she did, he would know. “And yeah, maybe I don’t want to go home to her either. Really fucked up on that one, Flint.”@dusti ● 396 ● Savage by Lights MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Dusti frowned at Renard. Clearly he'd had far to much to drink tonight. But at least he was a better drunk then her mother. Dusti had a very much love/hate relationship with alcohol. Due to her mother's constant intoxication it had left a very sour taste in her mouth when it came to most alcoholic drinks. The only ones she could tolerate were those that were the farthest from champagnes and wines as possible, and even then she rarely had the stomach for it. Not because she didn't want to forget about her own dark thoughts but because she was convinced drinking would make her just like her parents. But, it didn't bother her when others drank around her, as long as they were the same sort of drunks as her parents (aka, angry drunks). She scoffed at him and rolled her eyes, keeping close in case he stumbled. He rarely needed a reason anymore to drink she was coming to accept.
"Hippy island with nature freaks? Sounds like a joy," she answered sarcastically. She honestly didn't know what island he was referring to with the statement, but clearly he was not excited about the impending work. "That's what you get for going into the Beast Division. You dug your own grave." People like them just didn't get along with others most the time. Though Dusti had been much more strategic in her career. While the hospital sometimes made her interact with others, it was a more rare occasion.
Though, the subject of Ondina, while entirely irksome, also made Dusti smirk a little. Because she'd shared a dorm with the monster for seven years. It was about time someone else got to experience that hell. Though, it was a shame it was Renard, because he should have known better. "No shit, sherlock. What did you think would happen when you got in bed with her?" Ondina was a real piece of work. Though, his torment did make her feel a little pity. "You can crash on my couch tonight." She answered as the cool night air surrounded them. While making his suffer was very tempting, taking him home meant she might run into the monster fiancé herself.

▲ “A real fucking hap-happy hippy island,” he hiccupped as he fumbled over his words. That was what some of the magizoologists had said earlier today, at least. Supposedly paradise. Paradise was a word that he had seen tossed around pretty liberally, and he wouldn’t believe it until he saw it. The real Shangri-La in this world was winning money on the cards and then getting plastered until last call. Why couldn’t they have let him do that tonight? He needed it. “Yeah, well, I get to piss off Doris every month. It’s worth it just to see that hag scowl at me.” Doris being the ancient being that rain the front desk at the werewolf hotel that he was required to check in with the morning following full moons. “She keeps the doggies in line, I’ll tell you what,” he sputtered out. The endless chattering was starting to kick in now. This wouldn’t have happened if Dusti had let him keep drinking. “One day she’ll slip though, and a dog will get out. I can’t wait for that,” Renard chuckled, only stopping when he felt his head starting to spin, his stomach lurching. He stopped where he was so he could close his eyes to aid in preventing the nausea from taking over. As he did so, Dusti agreed with him that he had messed up in the Ondina department. She was right, he didn’t think about it. He got desperate and went crawling to the first person that would hear him out. Unfortunately that happened to be Ondina. “She’ll claw my eyes out if she so much as suspects I’d do that…” At the same time, she knew he was at the casino, and it wasn’t unlike him to crash there if he couldn’t leave on his own two feet. He let out a deep sigh, knowing that somehow this was going to come back to haunt him, but it was better than dealing with Ondina whilst drunk. “How far is your place?”@dusti ● 334 ● Les aeronefs by Artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
