@dusti he didn't want to let her go but he knew that he needed to. someone would walk into the room any moment now and the moment would be ruined. well not ruined but a little marred. he rubbed his hand down her back for a second before he started to loosen his hold on her but he didn't let het go totally, that he felt would be a step to far right now. he took a slight step back, working out of her arms gently but he slid his hand down her arm to try and take her hand in his.
"we should go." he said as he glanced back into the room. "not really the place i want to remember out first kiss in however many months in. hospitals are so last year." the not so thinly veiled reference to how much time he'd seemed to have spent in the hospital wing throughout his years at hogwarts. he said with as light a grin as he could manage at that moment and he took a step towards the door, tugging at her gently. "besides, i'm sure we'll pass a supply closet on our way out." he said, teasing her as he looked out into the hallway.

@elliot October 2025
It was strange... how familiar this could be despite so many months broken up. Despite his being gone for so long. It was as if it had only been a day, and not months. Dusti hated to admit it, how much she'd missed this. Him. Feeling like she needed someone like this. Though he was still an asshole. He infuriated her more then anyone else.
She scowled as he mentioned kisses in hospitals, and hospitals being "last year". He'd always had a knack for getting injured during their schooling years. It had driven her insane. Because she was constantly having to worry about his well being and what stunt he'd try next. "Then stop getting yourself put in hospitals," she reprimanded. Of course she was throwing the blame back onto him. He was the one that had gotten blown up, after all! Her scowl deepened as he mentioned finding a supply closet. Like hell! She still hadn't forgiven him totally! He'd taken her hand in his, and was pulling her towards the door but she planted her feet. She could be quite stubborn when she wanted. "No. While you go talk to your family about getting blown up-" She gave him a very stern look, daring him to argue. "I am going to finish my shift. And maybe after, if your family doesn't strangle you, we'll talk."

@dusti he chuckled when she told him to stop landing himself into hospital and all he could do was shrug a shoulder. "this one wasn't my fault though." most of his previous visits had been because he'd been young and dumb. he still was, he knew that but he liked to think he was getting somewhat smarter. this visit had been something out of his control. the scowl that crossed her face filled him with all kinds of warm and familiar feelings and it was one of the faces he was most attracted to on her. he stopped when she planted her feet and he felt his hand tug at hers and he stopped to turn back to her. "they already know." he said with something of an exasperated and exhausted sort of sigh. "i'm surprised you didn't hear my mother's voice down in your office .." he said as he rolled his eyes a little and he looked back at her. "i'm staying with them for a while." he didn't want to, they were overbearing, protective and full on but he knew they were a thousand times better than the fifth that dusti had been raised by. his family loved him and he loved them, he'd tried not to take that for granted anymore like he had while he'd been in school. when she said she still had to finish her shift he did kick himself for not thinking about that. he'd been so caught up in her, the kiss and how he was feeling that he'd forgotten she'd been working. "the leaky cauldron. six?"

@elliot October 2025
Dusti gave him an extremely scrutinizing look. Not his fault. Right. As was none of the other times he'd ever landed himself in a hospital. He had some of the worst luck she'd ever heard of. That, or he was one of the most reckless people she knew. She was sure it was a bit of both, if she was being honest. He had the self preservation of a mouse that taunted a cat. He practically dared fate to do it's worse to him, and then he was always so surprised when something actually happened. "Riiiiiiiiight," she answered slowly, her tone making it clear that he hadn't convince her.
Well, at least his family knew. That was progress. His family hadn't been like hers. They frustrated him, she knew, but they'd always cared about him. Sometimes too much, in Elliot's opinion, but she didn't know how a family could "care too much". Their families had always been on very different extremes of the functionality spectrum. "Sorry I missed it, you deserve it," she snapped. Thank god someone else had yelled at him for his idiocy! Though the news of him staying at home for a time was.. surprising, it shouldn't have. THey'd lived together before he'd taken off, and she hadn't extended the invitation for him to move back in with her. Though she also wasn't keen on extending that invitation anytime soon. He'd definitely have an issue with her new house guest, but that was a him problem that he'd have to deal with if she ever invited him to the new flat.
But before they even considered anything like that... they had to talk. He offered a time and place. Dusti felt like refusing, as it was in her nature to be rebellious and refuse to comply. But this was also Elliot. So, she slowly nodded. They had a lot of healing to do and months of unresolved feelings to get over, but dinner tonight would be a start.
[END!!!]
