February 2025 It was almost the full moon which was always a nerve-wracking time for Sienna. Not because she had to worry about a transformation like Jamie, but because it meant the time had come for another round of testing. Aware Wolf Potion was still in the early early stages of experimentation, and the girls were constantly tweaking the formula and making new discoveries. They had yet to reach a breakthrough (that was probably still months away at best) but they were making real progress. At least, Jamie had been taking it every month before the full moon and hadn’t seemingly spontaneously combusted yet. Si knew they’d eventually have to start testing on other people, and she was equally excited for and dreading the day. That was the real test, after all – whether Aware Wolf would hold up during several rounds of volunteers and trials despite differences in age, or gender, or body mass. She was sure she and Jamie had a real winner of a potion on their hands, the ability to change the lives of so many werewolves by making the transformation process easier between the human and the wolf, and the potion more accessible overall. But that was only if it worked. Otherwise it’d be a waste of months of effort, and wouldn’t make any difference to werewolves at all. So Sienna was nervous, but the first volunteer was one of Jamie’s siblings which lessened the pressure somewhat. She’d carefully consulted her notes before choosing the right batch to try with him, and she was deeply curious to see how it affected somebody besides her partner. She hoped Jamie had given him some sort of briefing, because a loss of privacy was a natural result of participating in a clinical trial. And this wouldn’t work if he was embarrassed about being observed or sharing details. It was almost the end of the day, and Sienna was impatiently waiting in the front room of Slug and Jigger’s Apothecary. She’d told Jamie to tell her brother when and where to come, and the store had almost completely emptied out as the time drew closer. She watched a customer scoop up beetle eyes while she waited, her mind swirling with thoughts and concerns. rhys alexander greyback

Rhys stretched a bit, his shoulder seemed more sore than usual but he supposed it just had something to do with the nature of a magical injury. His bite, the proof that Fenrir had gotten to him when he was a boy. A few weeks ago Rhys had run into Jamie who had wanted to ask him for his help, she was a Potioneer and evidentially working on some new type of potion they could take that would be better than the Wolfsbane potion. At first he had been hesitant, to test such a potion seemed excessively dangerous and the last thing he needed was Greyback werewolves responsible for incidents of death or maiming. Buts he had persisted, relying on that little sister charm that always seemed to work on him. She had come into his life during his final year at Hogwarts and it had been such a blessing, he wasn't alone after all although he wish he'd known sooner. So, he'd caved in and he walked down the steps toward the Potions shop where she worked to meet a friend of hers who was assisting. If this did work then it would be life changing and also with Jamie's name on it would put a positive note to Greyback instead of a negative and violent one.
As far as he knew Jamie had tried to potion herself, but nothing ever came of just testing on one subject. He found the shop and opened the door, a chime sounding off to announce his presence. The storefront was not completely empty and he saw a woman with bright blue eyes--he supposed this was who he was supposed to meet. Looking around, it had been some time since he'd been in here. Long gone were the days where he needed to stock up for his own NEWT level potions course and even when he was working he usually found what he needed abroad versus buying it here and having to transport the items himself. Slowly he approached her, "Sienna?" He asked, face serious as always. "I'm Rhys, Jamie's brother." He learned it was best to quickly introduce oneself and he supposed she'd want to get started with whatever this process entailed. He had to admit he was a bit nervous but his face didn't show it, what kind of side effects would he be expecting or even positive effects? He supposed he would find out soon enough.

Sienna leaned against the counter as she idly watched the remaining shoppers, but her mind was running on a loop through everything that needed to happen tonight. Jamie obviously hadn’t needed the whole script, which meant it would be Si’s first time explaining the process to someone. Yikes. She’d been lost deep in thought, so she startled when she heard her name. Her stance might come off a little defensive, so Si forced herself to uncross her arms as she studied the man that must be Jamie’s brother. He looked older than Jamie and Sienna didn’t see much of a family resemblance, but then she really had no reason to expect one. Jamie didn’t talk much about her exact relationship with her siblings. Between his serious expression and Slug and Jigger’s low-key atmosphere, things felt a little tense, so Sienna smiled and used a light tone to speak. “Hi, Rhys. Thanks for agreeing to do this. My workspace is in the back.” Si motioned behind the counter to where she and Jamie worked. “Jamie’s out right now, so it’ll just be us. But, uh, I don’t bite?” It was difficult for her to joke with strangers, but Si gave it a shot anyway. She really wanted this to go well. And in order to avoid saying anything else that might scare him out the door, Si rounded the counter and led Rhys into the back room. Bringing people without a background in potions into their workspace was always a shot in the dark. Si and Jamie were used to the array of weird smells, pickled ingredients, and bubbling cauldrons, but most people seemed to find apothecaries distasteful. Si had done her best to clean up – hiding some of the odder ingredients and putting lids on the potions currently brewing – but she couldn’t really tell if it improved the ambience at all. Sienna had also dragged Jamie’s chair over to her desk, since she’d spread out her notes and journals on Aware Wolf there and currently had a small cauldron of it on an open flame. Even at first glance one could see it didn’t look anything like the Wolfsbane Potion. This batch of Aware Wolf was a deep wine purple, and the surface of the potion was completely smooth – no swirls of smoke or bubbles to be seen. Sienna made a small flourish towards the cauldron. “This is it!” she said happily. rhys alexander greyback

The Greybacks, the ones he had identified, were a unique set of siblings. They didn't particularly resemble one another except maybe eye color or small features here and not all of them were even werewolves. The personality range was also all over the spectrum, Jamie a Hufflepuff while he had been a Slytherin bordering on Ravenclaw and Max a Slytherin as well. It was a hopeful sign, however that they could all choose different paths that wasn't what their father had wanted of them. Sienna seemed a bit nervous, they had never formally met prior to this and he supposed his demeanor didn't help. Jamie had always told him he needed to smile more, be more friendly. Rhys could be friendly but his default setting was a mere habit at this point. The composure he'd developed at school and even more so as a young adult as he made his way in the world.
Rhys followed her to the backroom of the shop, he'd never been back here before and while there were plenty of items he didn't recognize right off the bat there were plenty that he did. While his sister was the budding Potions Master he had still taken NEWT level Potions though he had nowhere near the talent that his sister did. A cauldron sat on a flame, the contents completely unfamiliar to him and his instinct was to get closer to it but at a safe enough distance to examine it. As a cursebreaker he approached unfamiliar items with a healthy sense of caution. His habit was to rack his brain for how to safely approach said unfamiliar item, but there was no need here. "So, what exactly am I signing up for?" Rhys tried his best to relax and soften his expression. He was here on a favor but still a willing participant, especially if it could help him in the long run.

Okay, yes, it was time to get to business. The sight of her potion uncoiled some of the tension in Sienna’s stomach, because – yes, this was something she knew. It was her first time processing a volunteer, but with luck it wouldn’t be the last. And at the very least, she had spent so much time researching and experimenting that she had become intimately familiar with Aware Wolf. It was exciting to get the opportunity to move forward. It was curious to see Rhys’s reaction as he examined the potion, moving with an abundance of caution as if afraid it might explode at the slightest motion. Sienna didn’t really know anything about Rhys Greyback besides what the name told her, so maybe he did spend a lot of time around things that might go off at any moment. But he did seem to be trying to stay casual, and the effort was appreciated. He asked what he’d signed up for, and Si nodded resolutely as she took a seat and gestured towards the empty chair for him to do the same. As she mulled over where to start, she decided it was best to assume he knew nothing. “So Jamie’s obviously mentioned to you that she and I have been developing a new potion. Aware Wolf.” Si felt a little silly saying the name out loud (it was punny and brilliant and she and Jamie had had several good laughs when Jamie first suggested it) but it felt different saying instead of writing it. “It’s meant to be an improvement of the Wolfsbane Potion. To be taken once a month before the full moon, and with the goal of retaining full mental faculties during the transformation period.” Too technical, Si scolded herself after hearing the words come out of her mouth. Keep it simple. She took a deep breath and continued. “It’s still early in the experimentation phase, but it seems to have worked for Jamie so far. We want to see if it stays as potent with other werewolves. So I have a few questions to ask you for research purposes, then I can walk you through what you should expect.” Si shuffled a few papers on her desk. “Any questions for me before we continue?” rhys alexander greyback

Rhys felt her watching as he observed the potion and he looked at her. "Sorry, force of habit. Curse breaking." Though he had siblings now that constituted the closest thing he'd ever had to a family but he doubted they ever spoke at length to others about their relations. In his case he had the Greyback name but not all of them wore it. She offered him a chair and he sat down, while Sienna began to explain what was going to happen. Truthfully, he wasn't sure if this was something he would have volunteered on had he had not been asked to. If Rhys had been told or found out about this independently he might have been too doubtful to look to participate, as if a Werewolf's life was supposed to be easy since there had always seemed to be a catch. Whenever Rhys found himself down a path that seemed to easy he held onto a healthy sense of doubt.
Rhys paused when Sienna said the name of the potion aloud, he'd heard that correctly right? Well he expected nothing less than such creativity from her, he supposed. Sienna continued on and Rhys kept is thoughts to himself for the moment, he'd wait until she was done. "Aware--wolf?" Rhys repeated as a question with a potent pause in between the words, a slight half smile on his face. "Jamie's doing, I gather?" It was amusing and catchy, marketable he supposed. "So, Jamie's been the only test subject so far?" Rhys hadn't realized it was this early in the process but since he'd just seen his sister recently and she seemed physically fine he figured that there was something to this, but again--where was the catch. There were definitely questions, but she hadn't finished explaining yet so he would wait. "No, not yet."

Sienna smiled as Rhys repeated the name of the potion and asked about Jamie. “Yeah, she’s got a good head for it, doesn’t she? It’ll look fantastic on the bottle.” She allowed herself to laugh a little as she considered the name again, but she pursed her lips to force the smile away so she could answer Rhys’s question with some degree of serious consideration. “So far, yes. Like I said, we’re still in a very early phase, although the preliminary results look good. But we can’t keep experimenting on Jamie forever, or we’ll never know if it can work for all werewolves or just her.” She wanted to at least finish explaining the process before he inevitably walked away, because she could imagine how being the first (or second, technically) subject might be nerve-wracking. So she gathered together some papers and a little notebook she’d left blank. “I’ve written everything down for you, to look at later, but I’ll say it now too. With this new batch of potion, Jamie only took it once before the full moon. So we’re going to try and replicate that result again by only giving you one dose. It'll be interesting to see if the dosage stays the same despite body mass. It would be better to take it at night. Without any other additions,” Sienna tacked on at the end. That was one of her eventual ambitions – a potion that could be taken with food or drink. But they needed to keep it simple for now. And this trial would be helpful to know if one dosage was enough or if two was needed in some conditions. “And this is your…feelings journal.” Si paused before saying the cheesy name she’d been calling it in her head. “Um, I’ll come up with a better name for it. But basically, from the time you take the potion, until your transformation, and then after, you should be writing everything you feel, and see, and hear, and so on. That will help us pin down its exact properties and side effects. For now, Jamie’s journal has been fairly consistent on what to expect. Some disorientation and sensory overload afterwards, but a much less painful process overall.” She slid the empty notebook over to him along with the packet she’d prepared. rhys alexander greyback

February, 2025 Sienna Aurélie Linslee
Rhys smiled back at Sienna, Jamie was quite a character and she was the sibling he had known the longest having met her at school during his final year while she had entered her first. It had definitely been strange having the name Greyback in a house not Slytherin, Hufflepuff no less but he enjoyed her company nonetheless and he had to agree, it was a good name and creative, he nodded slightly in return. She also confirmed his suspicion that he was the only other werewolf to try this potion after Jamie, the thought was a bit unsettling but at the same time he supposed it couldn't have been that bad. Again, he thought to how Jamie had seemed alright and he certainly would have heard if their experiment had gone way south. "Right." He said in response, both to acknowledge that he was the second test subject and to agree that additional test subjects are necessary in these types of trials. Lycanthropy as a condition itself was very static but each werewolf was still different. Exhibit A their own father and how he had let it transform him in such a unique way not seen.
Rhys listened to her instructions and lifted his eyebrows at the additional instruction of 'Without any other additions'. Rhys would have to skip his nightcap whenever he took this he supposed. Truly, it was a sacrifice but one he was begrudgingly willing to make for his sister. If that was the case however, he hoped it tasted better than the current Wolfsbane potion. Rhys accepted the packet of information he was receiving, it was a lot more than he expected although it did make him feel better seeing how organized this trial was. "Feelings, huh?" Rhys was hardly one to talk about his feelings, Jamie was more of an open book than he had ever been but he wasn't sure what kind of things he would write in this. "Well anything less painful is promising." Rhys commented, while the Wolfsbane helped prevent him from hurting himself and others it was still not a comfortable option. The rare times he did forget he'd had a room his flat warded for such events and in the morning he just cleaned himself up the best he could.
"How long does the disorientation and all that last, usually?" He was curious if their experience would be similar or entirely different, would their shared bloodline have any effect on that as well. It was lucky he wasn't working for a few weeks as well to not have that as a distraction, though with his job he had the flexibility for his condition. Rhys wasn't sure how to feel about the process overall but he was going to stick with it, he said he would so here he was but the more information he could get then the better.

Sienna flushed a little in embarrassment as he commented on the feelings journal, but he took it anyway along with the packet of information she’d prepared so she exhaled a little in relief. “Yeah, feelings,” Si confirmed. “Although just any physical or mental aftereffects. You’ll have to save the gossip for your diary.” It was a joke, although Si didn’t do much more than quirk her lips up in a small smile. She wanted to be one of those open and trustworthy people, who didn’t have to be suspicious about everyone they met and what their intentions might be. But the magical world could be a little scary at times, and the Daily Prophet in recent years wasn’t doing much to dispel those fears. Every new report of an attack or obituary made it that much more important to know who your friends were. But she could see Rhys was just here to help, and in fact taking this much more calmly than had been previously hoped, so Sienna thought she might give the humor another shot. “We can rename it, though. Something manly. And we can make it look like you had it with you when you survived wrestling with a troll or fighting off a banshee.” Si gave a little snort as she looked over the unassuming little journal she’d just handed off to Rhys. It was going to become incredibly important as she and Jamie started to figure out what the side effects of the potion were. Early experimentation had proven useful in establishing exactly what the potion did to the human mind before and during the transformation process, but the side effects could be a tricky topic. Some potions had extremely hilarious ones, harmless aftereffects that got a good laugh, but sometimes they could be dangerous. Aware Wolf’s seemed to be more of an inconvenience than anything else, but with such an important intended effect it was good to know for sure. Rhys asked about the disorientation, and Sienna took a moment to think over the answer. When she finally responded, she spoke slowly. “The disorientation seems to last a few hours. The sensory overload a bit longer, sometimes a day or two.” Sienna hadn’t figured out the disorientation yet, whether that was something that could be tweaked or not, but she was starting to understand why Jamie’s senses were so overwhelmed. “What this potion does is try to create more overlap between the human and the wolf. Human mind, wolf body. That way you can keep an almost complete awareness of yourself during the full moon.” There were other new ingredients that targeted the question of preventing pain during the process, but Si didn’t want to get too deep into the technical details. “So, to that end, we’ve noticed sometimes the wolf’s senses linger. It doesn’t seem to be too bad, just uncomfortable?” This is where they diverged from the potionmaking, Si’s expertise, into something she’d never be able to understand. So she relied on Jamie’s judgment for it. Sienna slid a different piece of parchment over to Rhys, as well as one of the spare quills she had lying around her desk. “If you’re comfortable, it’d be helpful to get some information from you. Height, weight, medical history. Things like that. It’ll help me with my math to determine the right dosage, since you and Jamie aren’t exactly…um, the same dimensions.” rhys alexander greyback

Rhys managed a smile at her joke, he tried to loosen up. It had become some natural for him to appear stoic and he forgot how it could affect his interactions with people that did not know him. He supposed they did have to capture side effects for a potions trial and see which ones occurred more often than others, if at all. Though he doubted that gossip would be a side effect of this potion, but he understood better what they were looking for. ”Right, no gossip then.” He responded, plus he was sure his younger sister did not all the details of her brother’s life. Even if they were in each other lives boundaries still existed. Rhys did not know Sienna well as this was their first meeting but when it came to individuals who were in his sibling’s lives, he tended to trust their judgement—well most of them. And as far as he knew he himself had never given them any cause of for concern as his own circle was limited to old school friends and work friends for the most part, nothing or nobody that was going to start any trouble for him or cause for any gossip.
”No, its fine—really.” Rhys smiled a bit, he did not have an issue with the name was merely amused at the simple creativity of it. The simple pun that would make it easy to remember at least. He looked through the materials in his hands with a curiosity that his intellectual side brought out in him and seemed to bypass his serious nature. The entire experiment reminded him of a puzzle, a different one that he was used to but a puzzle nonetheless and all the more reason to be proud of his younger sister if this continued to do well. Sienna seemed to pause at his question, and he wondered if that was a good or bad sign, or perhaps there was more information he needed to know before they pressed forward. She explained that it might last a few hours with the sensory effects a bit longer and he nodded, he wasn’t going to back out one he’d promised Jamie he would help her even if the thought of sensory overload made him a bit nervous since that a side effect was very broad. He had asked Jamie about side effects and she had not told him about any of hers. Then again, he supposed that would bias the outcome of his own tests.
”So a hangover?” He asked, it almost sounded familiar and it was not something he was unfamiliar with by any means. The headache, dizziness, sometimes nausea and sensitivity to light and sound the next day. Maybe a hangover potion would help with his side effects if any appeared for him. Rhys listened to her explain more about the potion and its intended effects, so it had similarities to the Wolfsbane potion except he would have his own awareness and consciousness while transformed. The idea was a bit eerie if he was being completely honest though he couldn’t deny he’d always wondered what it would have been like to be aware during his transformation as now he transformed and then he awoke. More questions seemed to enter his mind, but he resisted the urge to ask them as perhaps they would be answered on their own in due time. ”Ok, doesn’t seem that bad.” He sat back a bit more relaxed in his chair, it reminded him of how he felt different even in the few days up to the full moon.
A piece of parchment was slid toward him and he moved the materials to the side for now as she asked for more information from him. He nodded and accepted the quill as he began to scratch down the basics, his height, what he figured he weighed, and medical history? There Rhys paused and wondered if he had anything to put in this category. As far as he knew he wasn’t suffering from any long-term issue minus his lycanthropy, but he jotted down a note regardless. ’Insomnia’. Whether that effected the potion or not he did not know.

Rhys seemed to be trying as hard as she was to keep the mood light, and Si smiled more at his attempt to be relaxing than anything else. In the brief time they’d interacted with each other, she’d seen enough to know he had a serious demeanor and seemed to be intent on receiving all the information he could before proceeding. That made sense in the context of curse-breaking – Sienna had never exactly busted through a tomb before but it seemed like the kind of thing that required good instincts and an eye for detail. At the very least, the way he absorbed all the information she’d provided and how he asked very targeted questions suggested he was giving the procedure the level of deep thought it required. That was a good sign. The potion was experimental enough at this stage that anyone who tested it would have to be carefully watching for any physiological changes in order to report them. Nothing would be getting past Rhys. “Well, you can use it as a diary if you want,” Si commented wryly, “knowing that your sister will be reading everything you write. ‘Dear diary, visited a new tomb today. Ran into TJ again. Ugh, he’s just the worst.’ Can’t get crazier than that, right?” It was a very rhetorical question because you didn’t have to be in-the-know to understand that people who chose that sort of career were thrill-seekers, looking to chase one adrenaline rush with the next. Not to mention whatever trouble Rhys got into in his personal life, which was something Si really didn’t need to know about. And it would be better to treat the feelings journal like it was a piece of business, which it was, so Sienna wouldn’t have to go digging through entries to guess what symptoms had presented themselves. Still, if anything did come up during work, it might be an interesting glimpse into the life of a curse-breaker. That didn’t sound too terrible, and it brought up interesting questions about how soon werewolves would be able to return to work under the effects of Aware Wolf. Another improvement from Wolfsbane, maybe? Sienna cracked a smile and snorted a little as Rhys compared the aftereffects to a hangover. Again, she wasn’t speaking from experience, but it definitely sounded like what Jamie had described to her and written in her own notes. “Yeah, imagine a hangover,” she agreed, laughing a little at the thought. “Except without any of the fun stuff that comes before. It’s manageable, but you won’t be out and about right away.” While Rhys began to scribble down some answers, Si considered further the idea of testing how soon a werewolf could resume their daily life after the full moon. Under the effects of the Wolfsbane Potion, most werewolves looked pale or sick even days after, and she wondered about the root causes of the physical exhaustion and how they could be mitigated. She noticed Rhys hesitate for a moment on a question, and she could guess which one it was. “Medical history can a little vague. It’s sort of a catch-all for any physical or psychological issues you might have had in the past, even if they seem small or unimportant to you.” She sat up in her chair and hummed as an example came to her. “Like, a couple years ago I was experimenting and trying to replicate the Bubble-Head Charm in a potion. But my first volunteer had trouble breathing while underwater. It turns out she’d had asthma problems before, but hadn’t mentioned it because it’d been a few years since her last episode. So we’re trying to catch details like that now instead of after-the-fact, so we know what's caused by the potion and what's unique to you.” rhys alexander greyback

i'm becoming less defined as days go by kinda drifting into the abstract in terms of how I see myself
February, 2025 Sienna Aurélie Linslee
Rhys figured that Sienna was a good friend of Jamie’s especially if they worked together and had embarked on this trial and as it was with all his siblings he was always wary at first of anyone close to them out of caution but even he had to give them the benefit of the doubt sometimes. It had been like that when he’d first met Lily Potter and he’d wonder how in the world that situation had occurred where Harry Potter’s daughter and youngest child was now a werewolf as the rest of them were. He had been wary simply on the fact of her name but then it had been bluntly pointed that he had been treating her and making assumptions just as people had done with him because of his own surname and after some time he had become friendly with her, she was someone important in his brother’s life after all. He tried his best to “loosen up a bit” as Jamie would say, she was a much bubblier personality than Rhys ever had been while he was rather stoic instead.
At this point it seemed Sienna was starting to loosen up as well and he chuckled at her Dear Diary suggestion. ”Oh yes, the bane of my existence—TJ.” He agreed with her. He supposed he would figure out what was relevant after the first potion he took and experiencing whatever side effects he had but he hoped it wasn’t too bad to the point it might interfere with his job, while he would go to great lengths to support his family even that had a limit and if it was work related it was most likely that limit. If he wasn’t able to focus and be with his senses sharp that was how Curse Breakers were grievously injured or even killed. But it would be interesting having this potion and being abroad versus home. He nodded his head; a hangover was something he was familiar with so that gave him a chance to at least try and mentally prepare.
Rhys still paused after he wrote down insomnia and wondered if there was anything else that should be included on this. He didn’t have any chronic magical illnesses that he was aware of, occasionally he got nightmares but it wasn’t consistent at any rate. She gave him an example and again he thought of his nightmares and maybe that could be something he could put down, he paused still and almost hesitated. ”Uh….I get…nightmares sometimes, is that something I should put down?” He asked. The hesitation was because he didn’t even tell his siblings about them, the topic was almost always the same so he figured it was linked to his childhood but he just lived with them.

There was a small lull in the conversation as Rhys continued to consider the parchment and his answers, so Sienna took advantage of the silence to organize her desk a little. She wasn’t a particularly messy person, but research took a surprising amount of parchment (thank you, old-fashioned wizarding world) and notes. She usually kept her desk clear of anything related to Aware Wolf, since she preferred to work on puzzling out the potion during slow days at work or when she was at home, but to prepare for Rhys’s arrival she’d read up on everything again to refresh her memory. Now, she shuffled parchment into neat stacks and piled books by subject – werewolves in one pile, ingredients lists in another, and potionmaking magazines in the last. He asked about nightmares, and Si paused to consider the question. She chewed her lip thoughtfully as she leaned back in her chair, idly playing with a piece of her hair as she weighed what ingredients might interfere or interact with dreams. None came to mind right away, although she resolved to carefully walk through the brewing process again to see if anything new occurred to her. “It’s probably not important, but why not make a quick note anyway? You’ll know if the potion changes them or makes things worse, and then we can brainstorm why that is.” Sienna nodded resolutely as she decided that was the best course of action. Jamie hadn’t mentioned anything about nightmares, but as every potioneer was well-aware, not every side-effect manifested itself in every person. Sometimes certain effects hit certain demographics harder, and sometimes they exacerbated already existing conditions (hello, bubblehead charm). No need to sound the alarm yet. Medical history was the last question Si had scribbled down, so she assumed he must be finishing soon. “Alright, so I think I’ve covered the basics of everything you should expect. Now’s a good time to ask whatever questions you still have, then we can head over to the potion.” Si smiled as she looked over at the cauldron that, she hoped, held her greatest invention yet. She’d altered existing potions before and even made a few custom orders to replicate the effects of charms or magical plants. Sometimes the apothecary received really interesting requests that challenged Si’s knowledge of potionmaking and forced her to get creative. But Aware Wolf was going to be something that had only come from her and Jamie, and she was excited to imagine the implications it could have someday. And naturally, Rhys needed to get his dosage before he left. She’d be able to do some more advanced calculations with the data he was giving her, but for now he’d get a standard dose for Jamie. She could feel the excitement bubbling up inside her, so smiled more enthusiastically than she had so far today as she smiled at Rhys and asked, “This is exciting, isn’t it?” rhys alexander greyback

Sienna pondered his question about the nightmares, and he wondered if that was a good or bad sign. Would that cause issues with the potion and the trial or was there something he was missing here? She spoke though and confirmed the opposite but eh was advised to note it down anyway. For a moment, all one could hear was the scratching of the quill on the parchment as he tried to write quickly. His main hesitation in mentioning them was because he wasn’t sure if it was even relevant and then he hadn’t spoken to Jamie about this and it wasn’t something he had honestly ever planned to unless it was absolutely necessary since it was something intensely private and he didn’t want anyone’s pity over it. He noticed Sienna was organizing while she waited for him to finish, he went back through the top part of the parchment and filled in his other details and then looked it over. Satisfied, he put the quill down and pushed the parchment back to her.
She asked if he had any further questions and he thought about any pertinent ones he might have. They had covered a lot in his first visit, and he assumed since it would become more commonplace then he would feel a bit more settled. But as he sat back and thought he shook his head, indicating no but also speaking. ”Nothing comes to mind right now.” The cauldron was behind her, and looked about the same as it had when walked in. With his current work he didn’t work with potions a lot of the time focusing more on charms, transfiguration and counter-curses but it did happen to come up—though he remembered the heavy NEWTs course load for it vividly. When Rhys looked back at Sienna, she was smiling but smiling in a way one got excited about something they cared about. It reminded him of how he felt about certain subjects and always a positive sign one was in the right career.
He nodded in agreement, even if he only showed so much excitement or emotion, he was in fact excited—albeit a bit nervous as a test subject. ”It is—it’s a brilliant idea you both have come up with.” Rhys felt nothing but pride for his younger sister, as he did all his siblings.

Rhys looked a little overwhelmed at all the information he’d received since walking through the door, and Sienna honestly couldn’t blame him. It’d be one thing if he was testing literally any other kind of potion – the kind that had lower stakes because their effects were only ever meant to be temporary. But finding a replacement for the Wolfsbane Potion was a big deal, because it targeted a big goal – really, something that dominated every werewolf’s life as they had to plan around the full moon and all the implications that came with it. So it was good that Rhys was taking the role of test subject seriously, because they were in highly unfamiliar but deeply important territory. “Okay,” Si confirmed as Rhys shook his head when she asked if he had any more questions. “That’s totally normal. Take a few days to process and read through everything, and if you think of anything then ask.” Si was still getting a read on Jamie’s brother, and she wasn’t sure yet if he was the type to bring attention to concerns or questions he might have, or if he’d just soldier on in silence. Jamie was the sort that shared things with Sienna, not just related to Aware Wolf but also about what was going on in their lives. But who knows which Greybacks had decided to literally take on the mantle of being a lone wolf. Rhys was doing them a big favor by volunteering, and the least Si could do in return was answer any questions he might have, whether they seemed dumb or obvious or not. She turned her attention completely to Aware Wolf and glowed with pride as Rhys complimented her and Jamie on what was definitely going to be their most amazing achievement. She and Jamie were definitely a pair that complemented each other well – Sienna had the potionmaking experience while Jamie brought key insights into being a werewolf. “We definitely couldn’t do it without each other,” Si said, the smile obvious in her words. Being a potioneer could be incredibly lonely, being stuck in the backroom all day. But Jamie had never made her feel alone. “Alright, let’s get your dose!” Si suggested as she pushed off from her chair to approach the cauldron. She motioned with her hand for Rhys to follow her – he didn’t strictly need to be there, but she wanted him to get a good look at the potion. In the coming months, he was going to become very familiar with Aware Wolf and its effects, so it was almost like an introduction of sorts. Aware Wolf was a deep wine-purple color, and absolutely still – not a ripple or bubble to be found. It smelled somewhat salty, like seafood, probably a result of the powdered octopus as far as Si could tell. She’d never tasted it, but Jamie’s face the first time hadn’t been disgust so much as shock at the unexpectedly unusual taste. Si dipped a flask into the cauldron, being sure not to let her hand touch the potion, before tightly sealing it. “Just pretend it’s a good firewhiskey,” Si suggested as she handed the filled flask to Rhys. rhys alexander greyback
