Mid-October 2025
Moving yet again so soon after leaving Hogwarts was something that Blair hadn't anticipated, though she was thankful that it wasn't because she was having to move back to the United States right when she had gotten settled in her apprenticeship at Mystery Ink Arts. This time, it was a practical decision that had led her to pack up her belongings. She wanted—well, needed, to be more precise—to cut down on costs, and not having anyone to come home to, while sort of freeing in its own way, also secretly worried her after having been mugged. The "what if" conversations with a few of her fellow former Hufflepuff students quickly became a reality, and Blair knew that living in a six-bedroom flat would basically be the adult version of a dormitory situation. Was it ideal? Maybe not completely, but she wasn't replete with options for where to live.
The good part about being eighteen and having only her old school trunk plus a few other things was that the process of moving wasn't as much of a pain as it could have been, besides getting everything set up how she wanted it. Having seen Maria's place in comparison to hers, there was also a part of Blair that wanted to make sure that her new flatshare was suitable. Her tastes weren't exactly the same as Maria's, but at least it wouldn't mean bringing her back to her childhood bedroom.
Having requested the day off to get moved in, Blair reached 67 Horizont Alley to find that it was actually spacious. She hadn't been picturing a hovel, per se, but she also hadn't had the luxury of being too picky about it. Besides, proximity to work was a major win, especially when she didn't have to shell out an arm and a leg for it. It took her hardly any time at all to find her room down the hall. It was a blank canvas in every way possible—including a lack of furniture.
That was going to be an issue, considering that her last living arrangements had come furnished. She would actually be responsible for purchasing a bed and mattress and all of that kind of thing, Blair realized, though hopefully she could find something that wasn't too expensive and wouldn't require, say, hiring a team of movers to get it in the flat. She also potentially had her flatmates for that, though she hadn't seen any of them when she'd come in.
Apart from that, though, Blair didn't doubt that she could survive for a day or two without a proper bed. It was less of a hassle than not having a wand or any form of identification for a short time, and she had miraculously navigated that mess. Plus, it wasn't as though she didn't have bedsheets; she just didn't have a place to put them other than the floor, which, she observed, was actually not terrible for hardwood flooring. The easiest thing to do, thought Blair, would be to form a mental picture of how she wanted the bedroom to look and to go from there.
Before she knew it, she had effectively papered the walls with her own sketches and a number of Sticking Charms (as well as some Levitation Charms for the spots too high up for her to reach). Her former school trunk made for a decent table, and it also served as a marker for where the end of an actual bed should have been. It was almost starting to come together. Blair took a moment to stand back and admire her progress. Then, hearing footsteps for the first time since she had arrived, she turned.
OOC: Open to one (or multiple; IDC) of her roomies!
