Late November @blair
It sort of did feel like a break up. Not only was she freeing herself, but she was "breaking up" with her family. She wouldn't say she'd ever really loved them. Love was a term her father had been very against. She couldn't recall him ever saying it, to any of the girls. They'd known from a young age that he wasn't their real father and that he held no paternal love or bond for any of them. They were simply tools to him. But that didn't mean she didn't at least have some sort of feelings. Companionship, perhaps. Of people that understood her. And this tattoo would be the final break. There'd never be any going back once it was gone. There already wasn't any going back, though.
Honestly, Ani didn't know what she was really going to do with this new freedom. Get a job? Get an apartment? Start a... normal life? What even was normal? While she wasn't exactly sheltered, her upbringing had been very strict and also selective. Even in the past month she'd learned a variety of new spells that her father had never deemed necessary. She'd also learned that it wasn't "normal" to always be so guarded. Something she was trying to be better about, but alas, she just couldn't relax. Maybe this new tattoo would be the key to helping her break these habits and learn to breath.
Ani nodded as Blair explained the process. tracing an outline, then redesign, then adjustments, then tattoo. "Sounds great. As long as it's covered at the end of the day, I'll be happy. It's the last reminder I have of that asshole." Again, playing the ex card. Dusting it throughout the conversation, in part so that she herself never forgot the cover story. No matter how much you rehearsed a story you could still slip up.

Late November 2025 "Sounds great," said Anna of the process as she had explained it to her. "As long as it's covered at the end of the day, I'll be happy. It's the last reminder I have of that asshole." That was fair, Blair thought, and also good that she trusted her and didn't seem as though about to micromanage her while she worked.
Tracing over the design itself took little time; the tattoo wasn't huge at all, and Blair wanted to be quick about it so that Anna wasn't kept waiting around. At least for her personally, the sensation of getting tattooed was even better than working on the art. There was something about the feeling of it that was really soothing, which made it almost funny how some clients freaked out over it, because that couldn't have been more different from her experience. Of course it hurt in places, and fresh tattoos did feel kind of raw afterwards, but it was worth it.
"Give me, like, just a sec here," she told Anna, slipping off her gloves and throwing them away before going to work on the design itself. She didn't need them for that, and she'd have to get a fresh pair of gloves, anyway, once she began working on the cover-up piece. "You can slip your shirt back on all the way if you want for now," she added, in case that felt a little awkward. "I'll prep your skin before I start on the tattoo itself."
Using a combination of ink and her wand, Blair established what the tattoo might look like, and she was really pleased with how the final result looked under the light. She hadn't gone more than a few paces from Anna as she was working, but she swiveled back around on her stool and got up to show her the design more closely.
"Okay, what I'm thinking is that I'll make the 'metal' part with the bars of the birdcage sort of ornate to hide the 'T' a little bit better as it goes down," she explained to Anna, showing her what she had come up with as she spoke. "Otherwise, it'll be too thick, and I'm going to have to shade it enough as it is because it's a cover-up, but I might be able to lighten it up just a bit with a spell first." She didn't want it to look too dark, but Blair did want to caution Anna from the get-go that it wasn't going to look as dainty as if it were a fresh outline on skin that didn't already have ink deposited into it. "Um, but then I'll use the top line of the 'T' to form the base of the rounded part of the cage up at the top"—Blair indicated what she was talking about within the design itself—"like that. And then the little door on the cage will be open on the right-hand side, with a little sparrow out over here, flying free, you know?" She then indicated the sparrow she'd drawn, which wasn't overly detailed to keep it from distracting from the cage or from taking up too much space, but it had a few more features than the typical V-shaped bird outline. "Does that look like what you've had in mind?"
@ani OOC: Figured I'd jump forward a little bit to keep the pace.
