Creating fire had definitely made Maria a handful to raise. Though, as far as she remembered, it wasn't bad when her parents were alive. Because her mother was a full Veela. She'd been able to create fire too. She knew how to help Maria with it. Guide her. Show her how to control it. After she moved in with her grandparents however... Well, let's just say she'd been quite the demon child. It was her pyrotechnics that had actually convinced her grandparents that she had to receive a formal education, so you could actually thank her being here now on her ability to create fire. They hadn't known how to help her, not that they really tried. If this child did have the same ability... Well, at least they'd be with someone that knew what it was like.
Rhys asked if she'd always been able to do it, and she thought. "As long as I can remember." Unfortunately, with her parents dead, she didn't know what age she'd started to display the skill... How young had she been? It wasn't until she was ten that she started getting full fireballs though. As he mentioned the idea being terrifying, but better then a werewolf she chuckled. The first time of the night. She'd finally calmed down enough to laugh. It was a good sign. "That's only because you know me. You may not have noticed, but I have very little self control. I had to figure out how to control it on my own, albeit poorly. So at least if they do inherit it they'll have a better chance to learn control." She paused for a moment, thinking. "That and I can hope they don't get in as many fights as I did as a kid." That had really solidified her using fire as a weapon. As something to be used when angry. Perhaps this child would live a much happier life in that sense. They could actually learn to have a healthy relationship with the pyrotechnics.

There was so much they still needed to learn of one another but there were missing pieces that couldn’t be helped as they were both orphaned and some memories just weren’t retained. Rhys had always avoided pensieves based on bad experiences, except for when Maria had shown him the memories of his brother. Still, if it was going to start displaying the same ability that Maria had then it would make sense that it would follow whatever pattern Maria had experienced. So whatever age she first might have accidentally set something on fire as much as a magical child accidentally used magic, it was a powerful force. Fire was more or less only known as a force of destruction and needed a steady hand. Between his own temper and Maria’s, his concern over this possibility only grew. But then she chuckled, and Rhys looked over at her, it was a far cry from the sharp words she had been throwing at him not long ago. But he knew enough about her at this point that while good it didn’t mean all was well.
It took quite a bit of his own self control not to comment on her admitting she lacked it, but at the same time it would only have made him a hypocrite. Still, that gave him another new thought—he’d also spent most of his time at Hogwarts in detention for fighting but usually because someone had provoked him into a reaction. He paused as he looked at her, ”What are the chances, honestly, that it won’t inherit either of our tempers?” Rhys pondered, only added to his own mental stress the idea that this child was going to be a handful in that case. But then again, how did not having parents or a family effect those prominent traits of theirs? ”I’m pretty sure I spent every other week in detention for fighting at school.” Rhys admitted, as far as he knew there hadn’t been any other Greybacks at Hogwarts until Jamie came long his seventh year and that had made him an easy target.
Aside from having similar broken backgrounds they were more alike in a few ways now that he thought about it. They had their impulsive desires and need to be in control but also quick tempers that only grew worse with how stubborn they both were. He wondered what that would look like in their future child.

How they were going to make this work.... Whatever this was. And somehow raise a child? With the way they acted, Maria was more then slightly concerned for whatever that future was. No doubt it would be a very bumpy ride. Maria and Rhys barely got along as it was, and even when they were getting along that didn't mean it was peaceful. While Maria was, at times, literal, fire, Rhys was too. Both their personalities raged like wild fires. Calm and peaceful was something both of them severely lacked. This entire relationship was fun, wild, chaotic, and very stressful. While Maria didn't know much about pregnancies she knew they weren't supposed to be stressful.
Though, it was refreshing that Maria wasn't the only one that recognized their volatility as Rhys asked if it would inherit one of their tempers. She laughed, putting a hand over her eyes and shaking her head. "God, we're so screwed." What the hell were they going to do? Neither of them had self control, in many areas but especially their tempers. If they couldn't control themselves in that area, how exactly did they expect to raise a kid with the same temperament? Hell, how would they raise a kid in general? Maria felt woefully unprepared. Nine months would never be enough. Then- a sudden. Horrible thought.
His fucking sisters.
".... What do we tell your family..?" She dared not look at him, hand still over her eyes. Would they tell them? How would they tell them? How did you tell the the sisters that hated Maria, that he'd knocked her up? The cousin of their dead half brother.

Rhys froze. As in he even held his breath for a moment before he remembered he would suffocate otherwise. ’What do we tell your family?’ The thought hadn’t quite one hundred percent cross his mind. He could still see the look and feel Max’s confusion at Zombie Island and he’d even felt embarrassed and disappointed in himself over that whole ordeal. There was a greater sense of dread building in his chest along with more panic and he wasn’t sure which part scared him the most. Fatherhood or that he’d have to tell his sisters who he had told he would stop seeing Maria and the same sisters who couldn’t stand to be in the same vicinity as. Merlin, he’d really messed up this time, hadn’t he? So, not only would his child probably have his impulsive nature and short temper but if he was lucky, they might just kill him on the spot so he wouldn’t suffer at least. Oh, and there was a chance it could handle fire as Maria did. He didn’t say anything for a second and tried to remember he had to breath.
”I have no fucking idea.” He muttered. He needed to think of something, they needed to think of something because it wasn’t something that they could wait to till the last minute exactly. She would be showing at some point and Rhys was determined to stay but changes in his behavior and work schedule would be noted. It was a complex situation as it was but the idea that his sisters and the mother of his child would always have wands out at one another didn’t sit right with him either, it wasn’t what he wanted. Before it had been an inconvenience, but now it was something that he knew was going to frustrate him. Rhys rubbed his hands over his face quickly and let out a heavy sigh. ”How is this supposed to work when you three can’t even be in the same room?” They could blame one another all they wanted, but that wasn’t going to help.

The Greyback family was complicated enough. Hell, Maria and Rhys'.... relationship was a shit show and confused most people. The family connections, the animosity between his sisters and Maria. No doubt when they did, finally, have to tell his sisters... It was going to be pure chaos. Maria, usually one who loved confrontation and chaos, immediately decided she dreaded the impending conflict. To be honest too, Rhys still knew very little of why Maria and his sisters didn't like each other. Bits and pieces, and what the sisters had said. But he didn't know Maria's side. Not the full story.
Maria let out a heavy sigh. Maria hadn't even really consider who to tell, when to tell... Nothing. Rhys had been the first person she knew should know. Because, well, it was just as much his fault as her own. It took two to tango, and he happened to be the unlucky fool that had knocked her up. Who did she even tell? When did she tell them? She vaguely remembered the healer mentioning miscarriage risks... So... should she wait until she was at a point where it really wasn't avoidable? when would she start showing? God, Maria was a vain person, the idea of what her body was about to go through horrified her. ""Maybe start by telling them to stop pulling their wands on me for no reason." Maria had never actually mentioned (to Rhys) that his sister had a habit of threatening her with their wands. But her comment made it pretty clear that Max having her wand out at the Halloween event hadn't been the first time it happened. "I'll be civil if they are."

The simple fact of Rhys unintentionally signing up for fatherhood was complicated on its own. A family was not unwanted but an absolutely terrifying thought for him. And it was being thrown at him without him having time to really prepare for it mentally or emotionally let alone process whatever one would call this relationship he had with Maria. Now, you added the fact that Maria was the cousin of his half-brother and she didn’t get along with his half-sisters. There had to be some resolution, some solution. His sisters had given him a vague story once or twice but he’d never bothered to follow up with it because he’d never figured that he would meet this woman and yet he did. Maybe there was some way he could ask Max about it and try to be as subtle as he was capable of (which wasn’t very sometimes) or even Jamie.
Rhys gave her a look. He knew how his sister could be, but he also knew how Maria was. It was a lose-lose situation with them, if one approached aggressively then so would the other especially if Rhys was the topic, so who was going to back down first? Knowing what he did he knew that Jamie might, but between Maria and Max? He wasn’t so sure—then again at this point admitting this situation would be to have been caught in another lie with his sister and that also left him with an unsettled feeling. ”And what’s your definition of civil?” The traits that attracted him about her weren’t any good when it came to calm and civil discussion, this was going to be an issue. ”I think we can wait to tell them….”

Maria moved her hand from over her eyes and looked at him when she felt his gaze on her. Of course, he probably doubted that answer, of her being civil. It wasn't exactly something Maria was known for. No, she was a fiery, hot tempered Veela that went from zero to a hundred in a second. Civil wasn't something you'd associate with her. She was too much of a loose canon. But she could, technically, with enough effort. Given a good reason. Though, it would also depend on the other party. She'd be "civil" when they finally told his family. As long as they didn't make any snide comments. If they did... "I won't throw the first figurative punch," she answered his question. That was, in her mind, quite civil! She wouldn't start any fights. But she most definitely would retaliate if they tried to stir up trouble.
No doubt, no matter how "civil" they were, the news would turn into an absolute shit show. Civil or not, Rhys' sisters hated Maria. The news that Rhys had knocked her up would probably not go over well. It didn't really matter how they said it, or when. But, his suggestion of waiting to tell them was welcome. Maria sat up in the bed and ran a hand through her hair. "Fine with me." At least until their own emotions had finished processing the situation. Because, to be honest? Maria still had a lot of processing to do, and so did Rhys. He'd only found out today. This was life changing news. You needed more then just a few hours to process something like this. "You better take the rest of my alcohol back to your place. Don't have the heart to pour it out but it's too much of a temptation here." That was why she'd pushed it to the back of the fridge. Out of sight, out of mind, right? Nope, she still remembered exactly where it was and it was damn blasted hard not to grab it.
(You want to end this with your post?)

The idea of Maria in the same room as his siblings actually didn’t just give him anxiety, but fear. What kind of collateral damage occurred with that much rage and wrath? It was not something he was ready to think about, enough was on his mind today and he knew that he wasn’t going to be able to process it until after his head cleared from the full moon anyway. He felt his usual frustration and his anger and aggressiveness but while Maria was his usual go-to he felt like punching a wall instead. All he could do was shake his head, it wasn’t worth trying to convince her to play nice at this point. Rhys glanced at her when she brought up the alcohol. At first he wasn’t sure if she was joking but then he remembered that she was pregnant after all and had no use for it. Though she’d never discouraged him from drinking as some of his other friends did. ”Gladly.” He muttered. He was exhausted and moody and though he was tempted to stay after being tired of sleeping alone for the better part of a month he needed to think. With a heavy sigh he sat up and moved to sit on the edge of the bed. He wasn’t sure if he was going to be able to sleep, so the extra whiskey would be nice. ”I should go.” He said, but then spoke again. ”I’ll come by after the full moon.”
