Breath, close your mind, control your emotions. Cas had repeated this to Ana many times over the past year, she was getting tired of hearing it but until she was successful, she knew that he would not stop. The discipline her brother carried had always impressed her, but then again, he’d been forced to grow up at such a young age. At least with this, Occlumency, she had the benefit of being in control of her emotions as a natural reaction to growing up with such instability constantly around her. Every reaction from her dictated an equal or worse reaction from her mother, so while there was the occasional outburst, she learned to tame her turbulent mind over the years. She took a deep breath and then let it out slowly. Since she was still in training, she followed the other Witches and Wizards as they detained wanted criminals that crossed borders, though really, she was doing a lot of paperwork mainly. Today was different, however, as she was invited into an interrogation. The nineteen-year-old happily accepted and stood behind the Wizard she was shadowing that day and did her best to not let her face betray what she might have been thinking.
This man didn’t look like much of a criminal, he was clean-shaven and well dressed and had a cocky expression on his face as he was questions. But there was something in his eyes, a glint to go along with the chip on his shoulder and as he had kept glancing over at Ana as she observed from the corner. The Wizard left the room for a moment when another trainee knocked on the window and for those few seconds it was just the main in the chair, a con-man wanted by several wizarding governments and he smirked and then turned to look directly at her. Immediately Ana let out a sharp gasp as she felt the familiar feeling of the probing—the invasion of her mind. It was uncomfortable and enough to send a chill up your spine, but she let out a slow breath. Her eyes had closed, and she focused on closing all those doors to the relevant parts of her memory, but he pushed. She may have been a trainee and this man much older and more experienced, but Ana prided herself on her will power. She opened her eyes and pushed him out. He seemed surprised and her heart was racing a bit, but it had certainly been a real test of what her brother had been trying to explain and teach her.
