Druids are witches and wizards that have deep roots to their Celtic ancestors. They are not a different "species", but instead simply practice a different way of life then modern wizardkind. Due to centuries of separation though, there are some very real difference between Druids and modern wizardkind. We will accept full blood and half blood druids for this claim. Anything less than half is too diluted to have the druid skills.

To be a "druid", with Druid traits you must have 1 druid parent.

What Make Druids Special
Druids are, upon first impression, just witches and wizards that do things differently. But, it's far deeper then that. If you make a Druid, these are things you will automatically have.

• Nature affinity - Druids like nature, yeah. But it's way more than that. Druids are naturally in tune with nature. They can feel a storm before it reaches their shores, they can feel an earthquake before it hits, they can smell the rain before the first drop falls from the sky. They just know and understand nature like a sixth sense. 
• Animal affinity - Druids are basically a part of nature. So, they have developed a magical symbiotic relationship with all creatures. Creatures, magical and non-magical, do not see Druids at threats. In fact, they will immediately recognize a Druid as something good, and special. This can be as simple as a dog that isn't fond of people warming up to them immediately. But it can also be as deep as a Druid being able to step into a dragon den and the dragon not caring. The chance of a creature, ANY creature, not liking a Druid is virtually impossible.
• Magical Conduits - When you make a Druid you will automatically have three magical conduits (for free, yes). You will start with: A wand, a staff, and a wooden instrument of your choosing. These are the three most common magical conduits used by Druids. You can refer to the Magic section, under Culture, below for why those three.
• Animagi - Druids have one of the highest populations of animagi in the world. Because of their nature and animal affinity, they are naturally driven to become Animagus. Druids are exempt from the age restriction and member restriction for Animagi (Meaning you can have Druid animagus under 17, and you can have a Druid animagus even if you already have 2).

On the other end though, they do have some restrictions.

• Druids can't use/own muggle technology on Hy-Brasil. (Nope, You can't bring tech there.)
• Druids don't practice any dark art. If you want to make a "Dark Druid" you can, but you will be forfeiting your right to enter Hy-Brasil and other played Druids will probably shun you on sight. 
• Druids, logically, may have other special abilities/demi-human status. We will be very cautious about approving these though. The general answer to demi-human status (such as part/full vampire, werewolf, etc) will be no (some exceptions may be given though). They can still be paired with special abilities (clairvoyant, legilimens/occlumens) though, except for animal affinity (cause they already have their own version of animal affinity).  Just don't do any crazy combinations and we'll approve it.

Things to know when making a Druid

-Druids will have a pureblood status exemption. Because they don't mix with non-magical beings (often. Might still happen on occasion, but it'll be crazy rare and they'll get in a lot of trouble from their Druid family) they have some of the purest magical blood in existence. The only time a Druid won't be a "pureblood" is if their druid parent broke tradition by being with a non-magical being, or a non-pureblood modern witch/wizard converts to their way of life and has kids.
-Druids do permit non Druid Wizardkind to convert to their way of life. These converts aren't Druid by blood though, and won't gain the skills of true Druids. Convert druids don't have to be purchased.
-Heaven forbid a Druid has a relationship with a non-magical person. They are FAR worse than American wizards when it comes to non-magical beings. The Druids will never permit the non-magical partner to enter their island. There may also be some serious discrimination going on for the children of such a union/the person that engaged with a non-magical being. 
-Druids know very little about non-magical society unless they go out to explore the world or someone that has explored the world tells them.
-Druid kids don't attend Hogwarts. BUT, when they are OWL and NEWT aged, they do go to Hogwarts April-May to participate in the exams.
-Dark druids are 100% real, and allowed. You have to purchase them like normal. They get all the perks. BUT you can never bring them to Hy-Brasil, as they've been banished from the Druid homeland.

History

Modern Druids are descendants of druids that escaped the Roman massacre around 60 AD. The Roman Empire had invaded Britannia, and was trying to force the Celtic people into submission. The Romans knew that as long as the Druids were around the Celts would never submit. Druids were religious and spiritual leaders. While many were human, some were, indeed, witches and wizards. 

When the Roman Empire attacked the Druids, most were killed and most their ritual/sacred sites destroyed. But, a brave few escaped and went into hiding. These few survivors, through decades of hard work, eventually created a sanctuary where the Romans would never find them. This sanctuary is an island known as Hy-Brasil. There are many legends about the island and it's often called the "phantom island". These stories come the few non-magical adventurers that spotted the island when the enchantments were still weak. Now-a-days, the island is completely iron tight, repelling all non-magical beings. 

The Druids have attempts to re-assimilate with other Wizardkind through out history, but all these attempts have failed. They fell prey to numerous, and extremely brutal, witch hunts. The druids, helpful by nature, were not prepared for how brutal humanity could be. Back in ancient times, they were respected members of society. But now? It was an incredibly cruel fate to realize the people you used to love had turned against you. The reaction of other wizard kind only solidified their mistrust of outsiders. Instead of trying to help them this "Ministry of Magic" told them to just go into hiding like they were. The Druids followed the advise, retreating to their island paradise. Thus their distrust of non-magical beings, and even other wizardkind, was solidified. 

There have been many conflicts between the Ministry of Magic and Druids over the centuries. By the 1800's, the Ministry and Druids finally entered into a truce. Druids were citizens of the Ministry. They would follow Ministry rules and laws. In return, the Ministry would let Druids govern themselves. In essence, a nation within a nation (There are several examples of this in modern society, if you want to better understand how this sort of relationship functions.). Druids also, somewhat reluctantly, started to permit other wizardkind to visit their own, though they still maintained the right to control their borders. Prior to the 1800's Druids had never permitted non-Druids to set foot on Hy-Brasil. Despite the treaty, Druids still butt heads often with the Ministry, depending on those in authority. For example, the Druids were actually very unhappy with Minister Kingsley as he pushed heavily against their laws and leaders. Kingsley's reign as Minister was widely considered one of inclusion by wizardkind... Unless you talk to a Druid. During Kingsley's time as Minister the Ministry passed a law requiring Druid children to participate in Ministry controlled OWL and NEWT exams. Many felt this was the Ministry's first step in trying to control their children and education. In addition the Ministry attempted to force the trace on Druid children (didn't pass, thankfully, but there were riots.), abolist the Druid's ban on non-magical beings/end the requirements of authorization to enter Hy-Brasil(also didn't pass.), permit Aurors to have authority to enforce the laws on Hy-Brasil (oh yeah, that one almost caused a full on revolt), and tried to regulate what magical creatures could and couldn't be kept on Hy-Brasil (yeah, that caused an uproar not just with Druids but also all magizoologists.). In general, while Kingsley was Minister the Ministry attempted to change a great many Druid laws under the guise of "unifying" the Druids with Ministry society. Unfortunately, this actually made the Druids close their borders to all visitors except a few trusted outsiders (mostly magizoologists that sided with them) from 2000 to 2005. The relationship between the Ministry and Druids has been very strained ever since.

Druids have become quite frustrated with the frequent Minister changes in the last few years. The constant leadership changes has made it difficult for Druids because they're constantly having to educate the new Minister on their customs and laws, and deal with any immediate attempts to change their laws. It's not necessarily the Minister themselves that attempt to pass these changes, but in fact the various departments that  re-attempt to get a change every time a new Minister is elected. (Without fail, the Department of Magical Education tries to pass the trace law every time a new Minister takes office...) 

Culture

Hy-Brasil
Their island sanctuary is more than just an island. Hy-Brasil is one of a kind. It's an island formed entirely out of magic. Magic is in the air, in the roots, in the very stones and water. If you took a magic sensing device, it would completely overload, unable to handle just how potent the magic is. It's so intense that non-magical life can't even exist (regular animals, plants, even non-magical beings.) on Hy-Brasil. The island itself is like walking into a fairy tale. There are no roads of any kind, instead all the paths are old but well kept cobblestone (though there aren't many paths in general! You'll only see them around homes or in town). The island is almost entirely forest, and there is only one "city" if you can even call it that. The city, known as Bouddica's Grace, acts as the "airport". There is a small port for any ships (this is also where all portkeys to the Island are bound. So when you come to visit, you'll land at the port.), a customs office (basically to ensure you are authorized to come to Hy-Brasil, and a few shops. That's it. No government buildings, nothing. The druids themselves build their homes in the forest. These homes are usually generation homes (several generations of the family living together.) Most of the houses are on their own as well, with only a few druid homes built near another. In essence, they are cottages in the woods, and you gotta really search to find them all if you don't know your way around Hy-Brasil. Druids have built their homes into the environment, so you have a variety on what their homes look like. Some will be like hobbit holes, burried into the earth, or built into huge trees, built in the trees, caves, etc.

Hy-Brasil has one of the most unique magical environments in existence. Because of how magically potent the place is, on top of the barrier that surrounds the island, it's actually entirely non-magic free. The island is absolutely teaming with magical life. You can't walk more then ten steps without spotting a fairy, a niffler, a kneazle, etc. It's even more dramatic then that though. There are a huge variety of even extremely dangerous magical creatures (even a few dragons). It's completely normal for you to find a dragon in your front yard in the morning! 

The plant life on Hy-Brasil is quite impressive. Because of how much magic radiates from the land remedies made from Hy-Brasil flora are some of the most powerful in the world. All the trees are of wand quality (so much so that Hy-Brasil has a bit of a bowtruckle infestation problem.). The Druids, in recent years, have been able to make quite a profit exporting their herbal remedies and wood around the world. 

Language
Inhabitants of Hy-Brasil speak their own unique language, known as "Brasilic", which is rooted in common Brittonic, an ancient celtic language that many modern celtic languages come from. It resembles modern Welsh and Gaelic (as they share the same roots), but it's developed into a completely independent language over the past 2000 years. They all speak English as well, but you'll rarely hear them speak in English on Hy-Brasil unless a Non-Druid is part of the conversation.

Druids commonly know the languages of other magical beings as well, far more often then other wizards. So don't be surprised if a Druid can speak mermish, or goblin.

The People
Their ancestors have faced extreme hardships. As such, the people of Hy-Brasil are an extremely proud, and resilient people. They do not waver when facing an obstacle. On the other hand though, they do not like change. They are wary of strangers and don't trust non-druids easily. They are very anti-muggle though, and will never welcome a non-magical person into their society.

The Druids hold fast to ancient traditions, and beliefs. They live in total harmony with all life on Hy-Brasil. They have many festivals and feasts to welcome the changing seasons, to celebrate births, marriages, etc. The Druids in general never hesitate to have a feast. They love to gather together and celebrate. 


Religion
Druids are very religious/spiritual. They are raised in the old faith, in which they believe everything has a spirit. They also believe that death is simply a new journey. It's a time of mourning, but also great rejoicing as you move on to Otherworld (the home of deities and the dead). They also believe that their ancestors can still communicate with them through nature and creatures. As such, they worship the world around them. All of their holidays and festivals are known of their countless offerings to their ancestors and the world they are blessed to live in. 

Druids believe in dark gods (or evil spirits). In fact, they greatly fear them, and can be very superstitious. The dark gods are beings of darkness that seek nothing else but destruction. They may refer to negative emotions (such as greed), evil acts (such as murder) as the influence of dark gods. They also believe that the dark arts are the magic of dark gods. As such, Druids have extreme issues when it comes to anything dark arts related. Even dark creatures/beings like Acromantulas (though a few live on their island...), dementors, vampires, etc (Just refer to HERE for tons of magical beings/creatures that are considered dark.) The greatest taboo in their religion is a druid practicing the dark arts. They will banish Druids that do this. Likewise, they have serious issues with non-Druids that cast dark art spells, even just a simple hex. In their religion, the dark arts will corrupt you and bend you to the will of the dark gods.  Druids believe that those corrupted by the dark gods will be eaten by their deities once they reach Otherworld (Basically, when they die, they think the gods will eat you, so your soul won't live in Otherworld).

Genetics
Originally descended from the Celts, the Druids are a genetically and geographically isolated people. While a few outsiders have been welcomed into the Druid community over the millennia, the rates of genetic and phenotypic variation are far lower than those found in other magical and non-magical communities.

Druids resemble their closest relatives (British/Irish/Scotts/Welsh). They are typically pale, with light colored eyes, and have an outrageously high red head population. So high in fact that there are easily more red haired Druids than any other hair color. 

In recent years however, there have been converts to the Druid way of life. This has introduced new ethnic diversity to the people, though they are still a minority on Hy-Brasil. This diversity is more common among Druids and their descendants that don't live on Hy-Brasil full time.

Generally speaking, you can be of druid descent but not a practicer of their religion or lifestyle. But, it's been shown that Druid-blood thins out very quickly. Offspring of druids can lose their druid skills (animal and nature affinity) if they are 25% or less druid (so they only retain it if one parent is a druid. They lose it if the grandparent is the full blood druid).

Festivals/Rituals
The Druids love their festivities. They have many holidays. These holidays are all very similar. Dancing, feasting, offerings to nature and their ancestors, etc. To an outsider the festivals may even come across as identical to each other. The have many official festivals, but they will also celebrate any sort of life change. Births, turning 17, marriages, even deaths. 

The main festivals the Druids celebrate are: Imbolc (February 2) – Beginning of Spring, Ostara (March 19-22) - Spring Equinox, Beltane (May 1) – Beginning of summer, Litha (June 19-23) – Summer solstice, Lughnasadh (August 1) – Beginning of fall/harvest, Mabon (September 21-24) – Fall Equinox, Samhain (November 1) – Beginning of winter, and Yule (December 20-23) – Winder Solstice

There is one additional holiday, though it’s more of a time of mourning. January is simply known as “The time of Passing”. During this month the Druid people take time to ponder on the trials of their ancestors, mourn their loses, and give thanks for their courage. It is a somber month, in which they do not hold any other celebrations (you can’t even get married in Hy-Brasil in January). This time of mourning is broken on Imbolc. Any events that happen in January that would warrant a celebration (like a birth, coming of age, etc), is held off until February. Many consider January an unlucky month to be born.

February, understandably, is one of their biggest celebration months. While they only have one festival (Imbolc), because they delay all potential festivities from January, the month in general can be jam packed with numerous feasts. Lets just say if you ever want to party hard, visit Hy-Brasil in February because something will literally be going on every single night.

Druids also perform special rituals for things. Such as a birth, they will make an offering to the gods to bless the baby. Same for coming of age (17), death, etc. Druids do perform animal sacrifices during these rituals (much to the Ministry's displeasure).

Magic
The Druid people are, of course, witches and wizards. They can perform all normal magic. They just prefer to practice magic differently. For Druids, they respect and worship magic just like nature. It's as much a part of them as nature is. Because of this, they believe that modern witches and wizards are lazy, and forget how truly beautiful and wonderful magic can be. Druids do use wands, but that's not necessarily their main tool. They use a wide variety of magical conduits. It depends entirely on their purpose. You will almost never see a Druid using a wand when doing potion work. For healing they prefer to use natural remedies found on the island, only resorting to actual magic if it's life threatening. Nature and elemental magic is strongest with a staff, in their opinion. Wandless magic is also very common. In general, you may see wands, but Druids don't limit themselves.

Education
Druids do not attend Hogwarts. Instead, they teach their children in a more "informal" setting. They do have designated teachers, and meet in small groups of similar aged kids, but their schooling is out in the woods, surrounded by nature. They learn magic by experience. They read the stars. They learn the names of creatures, etc. They do NOT teach their children anything non-magical ("what's a computer?")  unless it's a necessity ("That giant thing in the sky is called a Plane."). Most of their non-magical education comes from visitors and their families/friends that spent time off Hy-Brasil.

Druid children aren't behind their Hogwarts educated peers, however. In fact, some say they are well ahead. They begin magical education at the age of five on the island. Druid children do not have the trace, and are free to perform magic before becoming adults. So while their UK peers are learning to read and write, Druid children are already learning their first formal spells. 

Druids, understandably, all share a common advanced knowledge of herbology, magical creatures, and herbal remedies. They are surrounded by these three topics from birth, so they are learning all about these topics before they can walk. So, to no surprise, some of the greatest herbologists, potioneers, and magizoologists in the world are Druids.

In recent years, education has been a triggering discussion with Druids. In 2000, Minister Kingsley backed the Department of Education in enforcing education rules and requirements for Druids. As such, they require Druid children to participate in the OWL and NEWT exams at Hogwarts each Spring. While this has been a way for Druid children to get to know other magical kids their age, it thoroughly upset the Druids to be forced to send their children 15-18 year old children to Hogwarts each Spring. They stay in Hogsmeade April and May, and return to Hy-Brasil the beginning of June. Druid children don't take "classes" during this time. They are there only to participate in the exams.

Government
As is explained below, Druids have the ability to enforce their own laws, and Ministry laws, on Hy-Brasil. They even maintain their own government. The leader of the Druids is chosen by the ancestors, known as the "High Druid". Below the High Druid, is the Druid Council, which is made up of 10 individuals, who are likewise chosen. Druids believe that their ancestors will help guide them, and so each summer, during the festival Litha (Summer Solstice), their leaders will gather and perform fire rituals. They will then release 10 magical fireflies into the festival. Whoever these 10 fireflies land on, are the new Council. Thus the council can change every year. Quite often, the fireflies will land on existing council members. They will rarely land on individuals under the age of 16, though it does happen from time to time(so no big worries of too young council members!). The High Druid is selected only upon death. When a High Druid passes away, the body is cremated, and a Golden Snidget is released into the night. Whoever the Golden Snidget lands on is the next High Druid (this process can take some time. The shortest recorded time for the bird to find a new High Druid was seconds, and the longest was 3 months. At which time, it landed on the crib on a baby born only hours before.) Again, while young selections are rare, it does happen from time to time. Druids don't argue the choices, as they believe the ancestors chose them for a reason.

The High Druid and council create and maintain order. They are in charge of approving visitors to their island, ruling over crimes, etc.

An added layer to this though is how these laws are enforced. Druids have their own appointed officers, which they call "Guardians". Guardians are basically the Aurors of Hy-Brasil. They enforce the will of the High Druid and Druid Council and protect Hy-Brasil. Among the Guardians is the High Guardian, who leads the Guardians as a whole. 

The High Druid and Council will appoint a Druid Advisor for the Ministry, as they see fit. This advisor is basically in charge of being the voice of the Druids at the Ministry. They will oversee all Druid to Ministry relations, and ensure the Ministry doesn't try to overstep their bounds. They will also ensure that any important information is relayed back to the High Druid and council. This position was created to satisfy Kingsley's Ministry while he was Minister.

Rules/Laws/etc

Druids follow the basic Ministry laws. (example, no magic in front of muggles, don't kill, etc). In addition though, Druids have the authority to govern themselves. They have their own leaders, rules, etc. Ministry Aurors do not have any authority on Hy-Brasil, instead, Druids enforce their own laws, and laws relevant to them from the Ministry. Rarely will the Ministry interfere with Druid business unless absolutely necessary. Some laws that are different/enforced on Hy-Brasil are:
1. Underage Magic: Druid children do not have the trace. Druid children have their own form of schooling. Their schooling in general is rather unconventional for most European Wizardkind. As such, underage Druid children are allowed to use magic.
2. No Non-magical People: Druids are very VERY strict. If you don't have magic, you can't enter Hy-Brasil. Hy-Brasil actually has extremely powerful enchantments that repel non-magical beings. Even animals. 
3. No unauthorized visitors: The Druid leaders are very strict on the comings and goings of Hy-Brasil. While residents can come and go as they wish, non residents require special approvals (think of it like a Visa you have to apply for before you enter a country) before they are granted access.
4. No dark arts: The Druids do not, absolutely do NOT, tolerate dark magic of any kind. Even simple jinxes. They do not learn it, they don't allow it on the island from non-residents. No way. They will excuse a few mistakes (with strict punishments, cause kids don't always know better), but if an adult is caught performing dark arts it can result in banishment from Hy-Brasil. (Basically, dark druids can exist, they just better hope they never get caught, or they were banished and cast out of druid society).

Q&A SESSION

When we announced the druids I agreed to give the members a short window in which they could ask ANY question they wanted about druids and I promised I would answer without any of my usual evasiveness. Here are all the questions they asked. You do NOT have to read all these to make a druid! This is up so that if you have any specific questions about druids, we may already have an answer!

Do druids have surnames and will we be getting a new list of surnames since they are likely pure bloods? If they don’t have surnames do they go by clan names (for example, Meadow of the Sea Clan)? And if they go by their clan names, do we get a list of likely clans?

Druids will have surnames they have for "public use", as in the Ministry. On their island they typically won't use them though (they use the whole "I"m so and so's kid, or so and so's bro, etc), since they all would know each other to some capacity. Surnames for them are annoying bureaucratic nonsense they were forced to start using when they joined the Ministry. They made up their own surnames. I'm leaving it entirely up to you guys to choose your surnames. Mostly likely they chose names from nature or animals though!

What did Minister Kingsley do to get them to hate him? Do they still hold a grudge and thus have hated any minister since? Have they made amends with the ministry since Hermione and now Victor? And is their hatred for Kingsley the reason they have their own government or did they have that before?

Kingsley's time as Minister is one marked as a time of change/inclusion. A lot of his advisors and departments passed laws to make wizardkind more welcoming. Unfortunately, druids considered most of these attempts as blatant disrespect to their culture, history, and customs. So a few specific examples I've already decided on are: laws requiring Druid children to participate in the OWLS and NEWTS (they saw this as a blatant attempt to control their education), abolish their ban on non-magical beings on their island (didn't pass), give Aurors authority on their island (didn't pass), and tried to regulate/control their magical creature population (didn't pass). Likewise everytime Minister changes, there are laws the departments try to pass under that new minister (like the trace comes up every time). So they're pissy that minister keeps changing so much.

What is there stance on special abilities (for example, animagi and occulmency)? Are they against their people using these abilities? And if a member of their people uses these gifts and they are against it, are they disowned? And what happens if they are born with a special power (like custom abilities)?

Druids are very open to these! In fact they have an insanely high animagi population. There are situations that can get you disowned, though it's not for special abilities. They highly appreciate special abilities of almost all kinds.

How do they feel about other species (vampires, werwolves, etc)? And what do they do if a member of their community becomes one that can be created? What do they do if a half-breed of one of these species is born to them or even wants to join their religion?

eeeeeh this can be a bit complicated. Short answer: it depends on the magical species. Long answer: They are 100% accepting of non-wizard magical beings except for dark beings (on the site, the one magical being they dislike is vampires) because they believe the dark arts are evil. So creatures that are, by nature, dark, are super against their religion. So they let magical beings convert to their ways, and even intermingle with them. Just not dark beings

Where they / still are blood purist and joined Voldemort and now Elaine or were they neutral? If they were neutral, what were their thoughts on these blood purists?

Thoughts on blood purity can vary. They aren't necessarily trying to keep their blood line "pure". Their pureblood status is more a consequence of being isolated for so long. But there likely are druids that care about it! As a whole, Druids haven't backed either Voldemort or Elaine because they believed it was "ministry problems". But, they did support many of Voldemort's teachings because of how cruel non magical beings have been to them. This could change though!

Do they know about the witch hunters? Are they aware of them? ARE THEY TEAMED UP WITH THEM?!

Ooooh yeah, they know. And if there's one thing you don't want to see it's a Druid and a Witch Hunter meet. The Druids were absolutely MASSACRED in the dark ages during witch hunts. They had poor timing when trying to give non wizards a second chance, haha. So, they hold a grudge. Like, big time.

Have the purifiers infiltrated the druids? or is Elaine not worried about them and believe them to not a threat?

I can't speak for Lisa on how Elaine feels (we'll have to ask her sometime). But it is possible there are Purifiers among them. It's wouldn't be wide spread or common though, considering most of them consider the Purifiers unrelated to them/not their problem. This may change though as plots play out!

What happens if a squib is born to their community? Do they raise it or do they disown it and abandon it (like do they send it to muggles near their island or do they sacrifice it if they do sacrifices?)

I'd actually thought about this one! So their island is basically pure magic. In a magical barrier that repels non magic. It's so potent that the chance of a squib is insanely low, and whatever chance there is is pretty much brought to 0 because the mom would probably have a miscarriage. They just physically can't grow in the womb on the island. So on the island, none. absolutely none. BUT if a druid had kids off the island? It's possible. Rare, but possible

Do they have arrange marriages to avoid cross-breeding with other species and muggles to keep their lines pure or do they allow any marriages?

Some families do practice arranged marriages, yes. They don't really do it to stop "cross breeding" though, they just are old fashion. It's less common now-a-days though because, you know, people change with the time. You can be cast out for marrying a muggle though (and the muggle would never be able to visit their island)

Are there any health problems due to many incest-based relationships? Or do they have ways around that, unlike muggles?

short answer: Yes, some do. Long answer: Incest used to be extremely common, but it's uncommon now-a- days. It's been on the decline since the 1800s. So there likely are some resilient incest-based health issues floating around, they are less common for the current Druid youth. They have great medicine though, so they've been able to handle the incest caused health issues pretty well!

Druids are led by a High Druid, and a council (elders). There probably is some bad blood between certain families but I'm leaving that entirely up to you guys to decide

Not on the island. But they have a high animagi population, so they grow up knowing non-magical animals. Cause, you know, their parent could be a dog or something. They also learn about them.

Did Hag's Fever spread to their island? What is their susceptibility to magical illness? To Muggle illness?

Yes, Hag's Fever did reach the island. But it wasn't really a big issue for them since no muggles on the island. Plus, they have awesome medicine so while people were sick, it was more of just a mild nuisance to them

Do they have Druid sports?

Eh, yes. But the world doesn't recognize them as "sports" cause they aren't really any leagues or anything. THey do play quidditch and other magical sports though, since they were introduced.

Are there wizarding anthropologists who have studied the Druids? Are there non-Druids who speak their language?

Yup! The druids are super open to people coming to learn about them, their history, study the creatures on their island, etc. They don't like outsiders but they love people that respect their world and want to know about it. And yes, non-druids can learn their language.

Technically. THey have the same "rules" but they don't use dark arts. So Druid duels are insane nature battles. Cause they won't jinx/hex.

They have a special ritual for becoming an adult.

They still hold fast to some celtic roots. So the tree of life is pretty important to them. But they believe everything is sacred/special to a degree. Different families may favor different things. It's entirely up to you guys!

They don't import food. So if they can grow it/find it, they eat it. Their diet is very vegetable/fruit heavy. THey do eat meat from some of the magical creatures, but only for their big feasts.

Around the same age as average witches and wizards. Though they don't have to deal with the dilemma of the kid not developing magic. It'll show up eventually.

Culturally, monogamous. But they won't tell you no if you want to practice differently.

Marrying a non-magical person, practicing the dark arts, breaking too many rules/laws, murder.

Nope. The island is 90% forest/wild. They have only one "town", and it's barely even that. And they build their homes in the forest, wherever they please. It's a completely different world on the island.

Yes.

Yes, but they don't take it lightly. They tend to reserve meat for their big festivals/celebrations.

Currently, they dress in modern clothes. But they will wear traditional attire for special occasions. Like the festivals. It's usually very elaborate robes with crazy head pieces. Antlers are pretty popular cause they make great head pieces.

Are the druids going to join any existing groups?

For now, I am planning on putting them under "Other". But that may change to their own group if we get a ton of them.

They can be 100% self sufficient, and they still mostly are. But they started trade in the 1800's. So they import and export some. But they don't have to.

They aren't fans. THey don't let it on their island. But they understand you have to use it when you're in the rest of the world.

They are governed by a Head Druid and council, who create their laws. Then Guardians enforce them. They are pretty cut and dry on justice. Head druid and council will rule over law breaking, then decide how to punish them. THey with banish you if you break too many big rules or you break one of their big taboos.

How much exposure have they had to magical cultures outside of Britain? The Americas or Asia, for example?

It depends on the druid personally. As an island they do get visitors from around the world, so they know some. But only those that travel really know a lot.

Same age as regular wizards, 17. Just gunna keep it the same across the board

Wizards would have brought the books and tales over when visiting. So they know about them. About the same as the average wizard.

Eh, it will depend on you guys. Right now they are neutral though. I am planning on events that will decide if they remain so or not.

Some old timers might get offended. But the current generation would probably think it's funny and start calling each other it. But yeah, there would be detogatory terms wizards use to refer to Druids. Moss Mutts is a good one!

Is Druid magic (as magic abilities go, not integration with tech and Muggle whatever) stronger/more advanced than other wizards' magic?

Druids aren't necessarily stronger than other wizards in terms of magic. But they've had time to really develop some crazy skills. In part because of how magically potent the island is. Their healing magic/potions are far superior than the average wizard because their ingredients are so potent. They do have magical abilities that average wizards do not though (won't elaborate here, ask that as a separate question haha.)

If druids aren't elected, how is leadership chosen and composed?

They believe their ancestors choose! When the High Druid dies they perform a death ritual, and then release a spell or creature (still deciding which) into the island. It will eventually find it's way to their next high Druid. They believe the ancestors are guiding it. THey've have High Druids that were selected at birth, and High Druids that were days from deaths door. Fate decides their leaders. The COuncil is chosen pretty similarly.

Is there a druid school similar to Hogwarts, or is all education homeschooling?

They have.... forest school? It's not really homeschool as they have appointed teachers, but they don't have a school building. THey are taught with kids their own age. They have very hands on learning. THey do have to participate in OWLs and NEWTS however, so the 5th and 7th year age Druids get sent to Hogwarts every April-May for the exams.

You covered Druid surnames, but what about first/given names? Also nature? Or more Gaelic-inspired? No different from the rest of the wizarding population?

Traditionally, they like Gaelic inspired and/or nature names. But some parents are breaking the norm and choosing modern names. THose are considered really weird. So you'll meet like... 8 Aislings and no one will blink an eye. But you see an Ashley and they may judge you a bit. (Like how we judge people that name their kids Apple.)

Like normal. They're still human after all hahhaha

red haaaaaair. Hahha, no seriously. They are genetically pale AF with red hair. But they're getting some ethnic diversity now, so things are changing. Red is still insanely common though.

They are very in tune with nature, to the point where they understand nature the way animals do. (know when bad things are happening, etc.). They will also have a huge animal affinity of sorts. All animals/creatures recognize them as part of nature and something good. No matter how vicious the creature is, it will never attack a druid.

Is fishing considered in a similar vein to hunting meat?

THey are more open to fishing. But it's not a main part of their diet (for most people). Druids that live on the coast of the island probably eat it a lot more.

The Ministry tries to force them to follow it. It's one of the reasons they didn't like Kingsley. During the initial treaty the Ministry agreed to let them do what they want with their creatures. But the Ministry tries to go back on it all the time. It causes a lot of issues. But no, they don't follow it.

Yup! Multigenerational families and homes is super common! There are some that don't do this, but it's more common to see this than a couple living on their own.

As many as they want? Ties into the family unit and numbers question. Historically it's most common for their families to only be like 2 kids. Enough to maintain the population. It's why they are still pretty small as a population. But there are definitely families that have more or less.

They are pretty diplomatic. Your gender doesn't decide things. So like when they decide which family to live with after marriage, the couple decides it together.

Both. Some definitely live in huge trees that can accommodate a home. But treehouses happen to. They build with nature, so they'll do whatever works.

all the animals are considered wild and native! The people just have a symbiotic relationship with them. They have a huuuuge variety. Unicorn herds, niffles, tons! There’s even dragons on the island!

all druids have pretty in depth healing training. But there are those who specialize in it. They don’t distinguish a between human and creature doctors though.

nope! No limit. It’s just a way to explain why there aren’t tons of them. Previous generations weren’t really doing tons to maintain their population. There are totally families that have more than two kids.

They also have auto age exemption for animagi, and are exempt from player limits (where each member gets 2 for free then has to buy extras )

What comes with purchasing a Druid? And does it come as a package each time (like if I buy two druids do I get the perks both times or just the first)? And do we get to pick the package type or is there only one?

they will come with age exemptions for animagi (if under 17), exceptions of you already have 2 animagi. They also start with 3 magical conduits. A wand, a staff, and an instrument.

What kind of jobs can we expect them to have / do? Like they’ve been on their island, I know a elder would likely be considered a “job” but do they have anything specific? Like trader or something? And do all ages work or is there like a age limit before they can start “working”?

I'm working on a general jobs list for stuff that Druids commonly do, but they can do anything they want! On the island itself you will have a lot of nature and crafting related jobs. Stuff that helps the island stay self sufficient. But they also have guardians, who are their aurors, and some people work in the only town, cause people gotta take care of the tourists!

Do the people vote in their head Druid? Is it a vote or age ascension from certain families? Are there similarities to the upper class being in the council? Or is it everyone is considered equal and has an equal chance of being on the council?

Nope! It's pure fate. The High Druid and Council is chosen pretty similarly. THey let some sort of spell, or magical creature go and whoever it lands on is the next High Druid/council member. They believe that their ancestors will guide the spell or animal to the right person. (still deciding on if it's a spell or animal.)

What are their thoughts on visitors? Do they like the exposure to the outside world or do they wish people would leave them alone?

They're wary. They don't want their stuff ruined, obviously. But they are really careful about who they give visas too, so they haven't had any big problems with visitors. As long as you respect their customs they'll warm up to you. They are fine with exposure to the outside world, but again, just be respectful. Don't be a jerk and they won't have any big problems.

Are teens encouraged to explore the world before adulthood or would it be discouraged by the council because of possible future population drops?

Depends on the parent. Druids can come and go from the island as they wish. As long as you aren't banished or do some banish-worthy in the outside world they are okay with it. They believe most will come back. And most do. There are cases where Druids leave their society but it's not common

What does their flag look like? Do they have just one flag or do families have different ones?

They don't have a flag as they don't identify themselves as an actual nation. Some families could have crests though, if they wanted!

There would probably be some variation but not too much. Since they aren't really cut off from each other. They don't really have the space to develop too many language differences

Not at the moment! But that's up for discussion with Lisa. Nothing is in the works, but that is subject to change

THey aren't fans. And they don't allow tech on the island.

Druids will accept money. So they'll let tourists pay them. (they just don't use money between each other)

First one that comes to mind that I've decided on so far is the High Druid that helped organize the truce between the Ministry and Druids. His/her name is still up to debate

They use magic to keep the farming areas fertile. That way they don't have to clear land in other areas. They change crops depending on the time of year.

Not really. Life is pretty stable on the island. THey've had a long time to work out all the kinks. There were definitely a lot of fights when the Ministry and Druids started trying to be friends in the 1800s though

A lot.... They believe that every species has a deity. So like there's a horse deity, an oak deity, etc. They worship all of them in some way or another. But families could feel stronger connections to certain deities than others

Wand wood. Every single tree on the island is wand wood quality. It's a wand maker's heaven.

Wood, herbs, and herbal remedies are their big exports. The import things that are harder to get on the island, or that modern society can make. THey may not like tech, but do you know how hard it would be to make a nice mattress? Just import it and be done with it.

Yes, with a valid visa. They aren't against people staying long term.

They were fighting a lot and the Druids were tired of their people being killed. The Ministry was likewise tired of Druids killing them. So they finally decided to call a truce.

The druids created the island themselves. That's why it so crazy magically potent. It's literally made of magic. THey made it between 50-100 AD. They started leaving around 1000 AD, and that's when the remaining wizards realized that druids hadn't died out.

It's the month of remembrance. There are no celebrations allowed in January because they are mourning the repeated almost destruction of their people. January is a very somber time. (But it makes February extra crazy! Cause all the celebrations they would have had in January get postponed to February!)

Would depend on the family. But you would likely find a lot of heirlooms. Things from their ancestors and were passed down.

They have their own word for it in Brasilic. It literally translates to "Where my ancestors rested their heads", but if you ever ask them they'll say it means house or cottage cause that's easier. They don't build often now-a-days because they live in homes their ancestors made. If they do have a need to build though, they do it themselves. It's like old time barn raising, the community will come together to help them.

they are pretty simple. They don't build fancy shrines. THey use their shrines for things like birth rituals (search for info on those, I've answered it), marriages, becoming an adult, and animal sacrifices. They resemble waht we expect old world forest shrines to look like.

Druids craft some of the most elaborate and well crafted magical staffs and other magical conduits. Wand makers wanting to learn about how to craft non-wands travel to the island often to study under their masters. In terms of food.... magic mushrooms? Hahha, but seriously, they're well known for being one of the most vegetarian/vegan friendly places around.

Yes. In centuries past they tracked their birthdays with the seasons/festivals. But since they started using the Gregorian calendar they celebrate their birthdays like normal people. Except the January peeps. THey celebrate theirs in February.

It's heavily looked down on to remain in contact, but they won't forbid you from it.

They're given their own belongings. So if the druid is a deadbeat that didn't own anything, it's their fault. There is probably a banished druid assistance program in the UK. People that try to help banished druids. Druids don't get banished every day though, so people deal with it when it comes up.

They change color! Druids just wait to see if the mushroom changes color.

Like any other drug. The Ministry has banned them on the Isles, but they can't ban their consumption on the Druid island. So obviously they're on the blackmarket

Eh, best way is just don't insult their stuff or refuse to participate in a ritual you're invited to.

The average dose can last a few hours. The mushrooms are just crazy potent. Druids have had a lot of practice getting the dose right. Non druids just take too much cause they are idiots.

Nothing official. They can use brooms, ride animals, stuff like that. Non druids like to bring bikes, and some druids have started using bikes themselves

What happens if the High Druid is an infant or child?

The council will help guide them. They are raised like any other druid child though, just with growing responsibilities. As they get older, they will get more and more involved. So like as an infant they don't really do much except be brought to the feasts and stuff. As a toddler, they are taught right from wrong. Etc. They don't every out a proxy over the kid like how royalty sometimes did. Instead they trust the child will be brought up well, and that they will be guided by the ancestors as they learn.

Not really. The council is very well respected. Decisions like this are made unanimously. So their decisions are thoroughly discussed before ever ruling. They don't dish out punishments lightly.

They are all kin in the sense that they know they all share a deep history. So in many ways they regard everyone as some distant family member. But after about 3rd cousins they aren't "close" to where they'd call someone family to strangers.

3rd cousins is fine. Same sort of standard as modern society. Further is preferred though.

They have a lot of freedom and trust on the island. They think we learn our values from the island itself, so they are encouraged to explore and learn. They do also want kids to understand the dangers of others, so they are pretty honest about why they can't do certain things. Like "Playing in fire will hurt.", or "We live here because non-magical people hurt our families." Different families will give their kids different responsibilities. Like it's normal for a family that farms to give the kid chores.

Have there been any historical events on the island itself that have shaped Druid life?

I mean, time changes life in general. But the truce with the Ministry caused big change. THats when they started permitting visitors. They started being introduced to new developments and stuff. The 1800s were a time of big change for the Druids, but not necessarily cultural change.

Druids have Guardians. THey act as law enforcement/Aurors. So you can report stuff to them, they investigate it. The Guardians report things to the council if it necessary.

It depends on the non-druid. Some visit all the time, some don't. People in fields covering history, herbalism, animals, etc are more likely to visit. People that like modern conveniences don't visit as often.

Depends on what they're after. It's a personal decision so I can't speak for them. Some come and go a lot. Some prefer to stay. Some do business off the island. There are reasons to leave, if they want one.

Every culture has organized crime. So they obviously do too. Their organized crime isn't really anything special/different from other organized crime organizations around the world.

Ooh, good point! I can see that posing a problem for glaring Roman names. There could be some overlap though, as some roman names could have similar roots as their own. But like.. DOn't name a kid "Julius".

They believe nature balances itself if you maintain the correct population proportions. They let nature handle itself. If the population is ever out of whack, they'll intervene.

But no, no none magical animals. So if they are sending mail, they have to send them by magical birds. Mail to the island is delivered to a certain location, and then put on magical birds to get through the bar

How do Druids tell time?

Watches. Low tech, that isn't affected by the magical potency. They've really liked solar powered watches though, to many's surprise.

do druids have their own newspaper / gossip paper? kinda like how we have the daily prophet, quibbler and witch weekly type thing? or do they just get those papers and don't have their own. cause i feel like, it'll be nice to have a newspaper to kinda announce baby births, weddings, stuff like that even if they have a ritual for each and people all around are invited.

Eh, wasn't planning on anything specific for them. But that's a good point! I suppose they must have some sort of news network in Bouddica's Grace, and then word of mouth to get to anyone that doesn't regularly go to town to check.

I mean... they have magic mushrooms of their own. But they think of it like normal people. if it's illegal don't do it. Committing the crime wouldn't be grounds for banishment though. Banishment is reserved for when they legit screw up so bad the Druids think they can't be redeemed or the person keeps screwing up to such a point that they are provign they can't be redeemed.

piggy backing off the body modification, do they do it like normal people get those things done or by a different method? i know you said they don't like modern tech, would modern ways of giving a piercing or tattoo be considered modern tech? (i feel like they wouldn't have piercing guns and likely use needles) but for like tattoos do they have those guns and ink or do they burn it on the flesh?

There are soem that get tatts and stuff the "old way" but this would be a situation where the modern version is actually acceptable cause... why would you intentionally cause yourself more pain if there was a easier way? They burn the flesh of those who are banished though. To intentionally cause the main and ensure nothing will ever cover it.

Do they have a nature preserve?

Technically the entire island. They run with the philosophy of maintaining the balance. So they'll move their fields when needed, but they will plant trees where the old field was. So if they repurpose a part of the forest for non-forest needs they have to give a piece of non-forest land back to the wild. So they always maintain the same amount of development vs forest.

Is there some kind of magical barrier... idk like a wall that could keep druids out. Like a large border like wall.

Not that would keep druids out exclusively. They are considered citizens of the Ministry. So think of it like reservations. They can keep people off if they want, but you can't force them to stay there.

Has there ever been a Hogwarts trip to visit the Druids?

Yes! They aren't common because they have to arrange it with the council. They don't bring all Hogwarts students. Instead they do it for the NEWT student (6th and 7th years) taking Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology. They prepare the students extensively for these trips to ensure they don't do something stupid. I am planning on one of these trips for the current school year (but I'm gunna open it up to all students, just so no one is excluded that wants to go)

Do the Druids who are redheads/gingers get a lot of Weasley jokes when they have to do things in the rest of the British Isles?

Probably not. Because the BRitish Isles have the highest population of redheads in the world. The Weasley's are no where near the only redhead wizards. (I think the Malfoy to Ron thing happened because their dad's worked together.)

department of international magical cooperation has a big hand in it. But all departments can affect them. The druids themselves will be trying to resolve the issues caused by the barrier going down, but the department of magical accidents and catastrophes will be helping.

Is it safe to say that druids have an 'older' kind of magic?

to an extent. They know modern magic and spells. But they also think “if it’s not broken, why fix it?” So they have practices that have almost identical results as a modern spell. It’d like boiling water on the stove vs using an electric kettle. The kettle is faster but they both achieve the same thing.

not really! They can still be affected like other wizards. As staff we’ll be more cautious approving druids being demi humans though because it can mess with some of their perks (like vampires and werewolves can’t be animagi, but druids can earn that skill super easy). So can totally happen! We just won’t be approving it too often.

Would druids be able to support movements like Voldemort or the Purifiers if the movements practice/d dark magic? Esp if druids agree with the general goals/teachings?

as a whole no. But they can agree with goals/teachings/etc. some druids may be more open about supporting movements, even if they use dark arts, but that’s personal. But yeah. They won’t back them as a whole group but don’t be surprised if you hear stuff like “Voldemort has the right idea of muggles being lesser”

Are there ancient ruins/explorable areas on Hy-Brasil?

Yup! You'd definitely find some old ruins on the island that they don't use anymore. The whole island is explorable though!
