Jan 3rd, 2026. Virva and Luke had managed to find a bit of a hovel of a mansion in a small village not too far from London, smack in the middle of nature. It was leaking on all sides, overgrown with plants and so far they'd just restored the living room in living order. They had barely any furniture about from the few things they'd brought from their previous apartments and all in all it was barely a house. Virva felt perfectly comfortable, although she figured it would be more challenging for Luke. He was used to a lifestyle with a lot more luxuries but she was just happy he'd agreed to raise the baby with her.
Today she'd bought a lot of beer and other drinks and snacks, as well as a brand new crib for Inari that had been made by one of the druids from her home town with wood she'd brought in after ripping some smaller trees from the ground and flying them back home. They'd set up a mismatched assortment of chairs on the patio outside and Virv had gotten a fire started as well as gotten some sausages ready to fry over the fire. The pair had invited some of their fellow trainees over for after work drinks and just in general some fun. Virv was really excited about it, although they hadn't really told the group they were expecting yet. Virv had only broken the news to their boss a few days ago when she'd asked for a few days off to go home.
She figured it would likely come up at some point since she doubted that Luke would allow her to drink along with the guys. She also figured that he might have some other ideas on what she shouldn't be doing since he seemed to be a lot more paranoid on how she and the baby were doing. He had asked her to go for some sort of thing to see the baby in the hospital, which she'd flat out refused. She wasn't going to use technology to spy on her baby! She chuckled slightly as she grabbed the food and went outside to where the boys were. "I brought snacks, who wants some?" She said as she put the various things down on the larger boulders they'd set up to serve as tables. She grabbed a sausage for herself and put it on a twig, levitating it near the fire to roast. She sat next to Luke and looked at the rest of the odd group gathered. Quite a bunch they were.... No posting order, just go as you please!

notes here. words: #### | Matt had been somewhat surprised that he had gotten invited to have drinks and hang out with the other Auror interns, but at the end of the day he had a feeling that if he didn't go, well he'd at least continue giving people the belief that he was standoff-ish and reserved. People like that often were hard to work with, and considering the nature of his job, that really wasn't how he wanted to be perceived. Hell that was how his dad had often been viewed and he didn't want to make people think he was just a younger version of his dad. In fairness, he had been forced to grow up quite a bit when he was younger, often spending a lot of time on his own and not really having time to just relax and make friends with people his age. Granted, having to go through your mother being murdered when you were four would do that as well, but Matt wasn't really looking to dwell on that.
Finishing up the rest of his work for the day, he packed up his things and clocked out, heading out and making his way to Luke and Virva's place, since that was to his knowledge where everyone was meeting up to hang out. It was still foreign to him, even if he was attempting to push past his serious and reserved nature, one he really wasn't sure was his true nature to begin with. Shaking his head, he looked around a bit as he arrived, noting that it was a fairly decent sized home for the village. He briefly wondered if that had been something opposite Luke's choice, but that was something for another time. He then walked to the door and knocked, being allowed in not long after.
"I'm good for now, thanks," he replied when Virva asked about who wanted snacks. He wasn't really all that hungry at the moment, though he also wasn't sure how good an idea it was to be the first to go for the snacks. Glancing at the others assembled, he felt he wasn't entirely the odd one out, seeing Lockhart there as well. Granted, Luke and Albus were cousins, but Lockhart was more known for the actions and antics of his father, something Matt did find amusing, to a degree. Although, Lockhart being here at least kept him out of trouble...

luke leaned back in the chair he was sitting on and kicked up one of his feet to rest it against the warm rocks that surrounded the firepit they'd set up. their house was almost totally incomplete. they were sleeping on a mattress in the lounge so they didn't freeze, the kitchen was barely together enough to make anything edible and the upstairs was almost a death trap when you walked on the floor but it was theirs and that made it perfect. he couldn't deny that his parents hadn't been happy when they'd picked a crumbling house but luke didn't care if they didn't like it. they liked it, it was where they wanted to settle and the work would be easy to finish if he ever got the time to spend fixing it. he reached down to ruffle the fur of the scruffy mutt dog that was laying quietly next to his chair. he and virv had adopted him from the local shelter just after they'd moved in. tully was his name and luke didn't know why but it just suited him.
he watched as virv came out from the house and he straightened a little, shifting to lower his foot to the ground as she came over with the food. he knew better than to offer to help her, well he thought he knew better. he didn't know how she'd take it and he was trying his best not to upset her right now. for not so obvious to everyone else reasons. he reached forward as she set one of the tray's down on a boulder and he nodded. "you even have to ask if i want some?" he said with a grin as he took some things then leaned back in his chair, reaching his arm out to rest on her back when she sat in the chair next to him, his hand rubbing up and down her spine slowly. "anyone want a beer?"

IT WAS LIKE A HAUNTED MANSION FROM A muggle horror movie, Albus thought. With a paint flecking off the leaded window frames and a gutter clinging on for dear life, packed with leaves and debris. It was old, but not unwelcoming, thought Al. Led from the front of the house, barely furnished, in to a plush and cluttered living room. It was clear they were building it from the inside out. All the way through to the patio where he'd been promptly shown a seat.
Al didn't socialise much with his fellow trainee's. He was a sour looking fellow, with a permanent crease between his brows and a stern way of looking at things. Not much of a show off, he'd spent much of his time melting in to the backdrop. Being good enough to pass, but not great enough that people would remember who he was. The dreaded phrase 'that's Harry Potter's son' curdling like old milk in his gut. He did all but change his name to avoid it. That meant, for the most part, he had no friendly colleagues. And yet, he'd still managed to score an invite.
"I brought... wine..." Albus muttered awkwardly, shifting in his rickety patio chair. He wasn't much of a wine drinker, he preferred frothy beer from Hogsmeade, right from the tap. But, he thought since it had been Virvatuli who had asked him originally, that he'd appeal to her assumed tastes. It's something his mum would have liked. Even if Luke technically was his little cousin, he didn't know what he drank. They'd spent most of their childhoods fighting over topping and tailing at the Burrow during the holidays. This was new territory. They were equal strangers now. "I'll take a beer." Al nodded enthusiastically, setting the wine on the table to forget about it.

((I'm just gonna post again..... )) Mainlanders were such odd people. For some reason Luke's cousin Albus had brought wine? Which was totally fine, but Virva had been told she wasn't supposed to drink? It already annoyed her a tiny little bit that people were placing so many restrictions on her. Or well, some people were. She took the bottle and with a gesture it floated itself towards the kitchen. She looked at the small gathering. "So in terms of snacks, there is cheese, sausages and of course reindeer jerky. I considered making something with cloudberries but I think they not very popular here?" She asked with a slight frown as beer was opted. She pursed her lips for a moment at not being supposed to join that sort of a celebration but well, it could easily be presumed that it was a cultural thing for her not to drink. She sat down a little uneasily, finding this somewhat strained atmosphere so utterly useless. She glanced over the men and then decided this was all nonsense. "My bother came by the other day to help build a sauna, if anybody want to use it. I can get it warmed up. There's also a lake and it's very clean, perfect for swimming. Good to relax after heavy days of training." She said with a bright smile. "What made you all decide to become aurors? I wanted to help fight dark wizard to protect people, but the aurors in Finland are not so busy as here. I have family on Hy-brasil so I figured this was maybe a good place to learn." She said, figuring she might as well try to get the conversation started herself. Although talking of home did make her feel a little homesick to a place people were more warm and open to each other becuase they had no reasons not to be. Their community was a safe place, after all. It was visitors that brought the danger with them. @luke @johanson Albus Severus Potter @lockhart
