Once upon a time years had been measured in the change of the year with New Years eve as the primal point of focus for the progress of time. These days time was measured in moon cycles and each month Keir spent a few days away from all his loved ones, just to make sure they were far out of harms way. An isolated cabin he and his wife had bought on an island that was as cheap as it could be to maintain had been the primary measure to keep and his family safe. While not much could hurt a werewolf compared to a human, Keir still wanted to be careful, for he knew that doing harm to other beings would cause him far more harm mentally than physically. He'd taken his suitcases and wolvesbane and he'd been on his way.
The days before the full moon he still worked. He did his job, preparing questions for students or going over paperwork and measures to prevent cheating in the next round of tests. OWLs and NEWTs took a full year to prepare and while the department wasn't one of the biggest, they had the staff they needed to get by. Keir never allowed his affliction to mess with his job. The last hours before the rising of the moon he always spent the same singular way. Seated on the tiny little docks near the cottage, drinking his wolfsbane potion as he watched the sun set.
By morning light an often injured and exhausted Keir spent most of his time repairing the damages inflicted to himself and the property. Reinforcing the cottage where needed and picking up his things from te safe they'd installed to keep the clothes and files out of the range of the werewolf claws. It was an exhausting process and Keir dreaded the months that had a blue moon shine down on him most of all. While he was by long capable of managing his affliction, he still hated every transformation. He didn't have the skills or mind to find a cure himself, but not a moon went by that he didn't spent hoping for a better life. Maybe one day.
