@xantha it was a little too early in the day for anything stronger than coffee or tea, so that's why leigh found himself sitting in a coffee shop not far from his building, the prophet spread in his lap as he fingered through the pages. some might call it a little risky to read the paper out on the open but he'd long come to the conclusion that other people, like him had no desire to poke their noses into what other people were doing. most of the world just wanted to get on with their lives, stay out of people's way and not get caught up in anything that didn't involve him and he was more than okay with it. he turned the page to a page about the latest quidditch fixtures and while he'd never really followed the sport on anything of a professional level he still glanced through the articles.
he folded the paper in half when the waitress set the cup of coffee he'd ordered down in front of him and he dropped the paper onto the table next to him and he grabebd the sugar that was sitting on the edge of the table and he considered it for a second, before grabbing two of the little white packets and tearing them open. he poured the small granules into the black drink and stirred it quickly with the spoon sticking out of it. there was no magic to be used while sitting in a muggle coffee shop, that would just earn him a one way trip to the ministry and once again it really wasn't worth it for something so small as stirring something in a cup. he picked the cup up and went to take a sip when his eyes caught a familiar face across the room from him. "you have got to be kidding me .." he muttered into his cup before he took a sip and he sat back in his seat, wondering about the odds of running into the crazy lady with the cat again.

Xantha wasn't exactly the type to sit down and have coffee or tea for that matter. Whenever she was out she usually had something she needed to do. Today she'd been particularly lucky in having secured some... business. Nothing shady for a change but just a small shop that was willing to give her a little bit of money for a painting. So today she'd delivered it and she was just talking to the shop owner to round of business and take home the tiny bit of money that it had made. Maybe she and Mavis could consider expanding their collection of kitchen devices to include a cheap microwave? It would most certainly make for a welcome change form salad and ramen. Not to mention the occasional fast food, although the girls often avoided that.
She was about to leave when she could almost sense a pair of eyes on her. Naturally suspicious she instantly searched the source and found... the stuck up and arrogant young man that she owed a coffee. Unfortunately it looked like he'd already spotted her, which meant she couldn't attempt to dodge him now that she'd obviously noticed him too. She collected her sanity and attempted to leave her irritation at the unexpected development behind as she sauntered over to his table. "Hey." She said without much real enthusiasm. "I believe we agreed on sharing a coffee next we met, if you do have time for it now." She sincerely hoped he'd say no so they could continue to be strangers, but it seemed highly unlikely that luck would favour it that way, considering he was already sitting down here. Maybe it was time to face the music and pay of the debt she owed this man in that case. At least she could afford a singular cup of coffee now. There was no way in hell she'd let him pay for it after all.

@xantha well it seemed that she'd noticed him looking at her and he wasn't going to be able to duck his eyes back down and try to act like he hadn't seen her. he didn't know what had caused his eyes to linger on her for more than a few seconds but he still wasn't able to look away as she made her way over to the table. there had been something about her the first time they'd met too. it had been what had made him stop and climb the stupid tree to get her well abled cat down from the tree for her. it still confused him as to why he'd actually stopped but he'd been able to stop thinking about it once he'd walked away from her and now he was there in front of her the intrigue was back. which in itself was intriguing.
he'd forgotten about the coffee he'd agreed to let her buy the next time they'd met up. honestly he hadn't expected to run into her again, ever. it was a huge city and they didn't run in the same circle and he was positive she wasn't magical. her cat on the other hand might have been but she seemed to be purely muggle. "i believe we did too." he said as he took a sip from his cup before setting it down on the saucer it had come on and he motioned his hand to the chair that was across from him, glad now that he'd set the paper he'd been reading on the chair next to him. the last thing he needed was for her to catch a glimpse of it. "i have a little while before i need to be anywhere." he did make something of a point to study the area behind her before he looked back at her face. "just checking your cat wasn't behind you and about to run up a bookshelf."

Why did a decently attractive man like him have to have such a bothersome way of interacting. Maybe they could have some fun together if he was capable of keeping his mouth shut longer than a minute or just didn't say things that got on her nerves as much as they did. Still she smiled politely and sat down, knowing her order would soon enough be brought to the table. Tea, of course, since it was far better than coffee. She didn't need to be jittery frpm caffeine consumption. Still he started off well enough by saying he had time, althpugh that turned sour soon enough as he said to be looking for Spot to avoid him running up to bookshelves. She smiled, although it was polite more than anything.
"Believe it or not but Spot actually was sick. He's doing much better now, fortunately. He's been as spoiled as ever but has not been climbing any trees of late." Then a slight smile crawled on her face and her eyes twinkled in mischief. "Though I'm far more surprised you got up there. You don't look the type to get your hands dirty, which appears to be your daily look." She said, slowly looking him up and down. She was going to maje this fun for herself at least, starting by undressing him with her eyes. If that didn't make him uncomfortable it would be either disappointing or hopeful, depending on his reaction of course. So many possiblilities.
