Watching bad things happen was not easy. Selene was lucky, to other people. They at times envied her for her ability to see the future and what might happen rather than the past or the present. Those were set in stone, unlike the future. Her gift was without a doubt the least reliable of all the sisters and sometimes it made Selene feel like a fraud. Her predictions failed or she didn't see something massive coming. Luna of all was always quick to point it out when she didn't get things right and no matter how calm she kept herself about it, Selene often felt most on edge when it came to her abilities as a Seer.
Today had been exhausting enough. They'd had a rough day of lessons and ended with a very on point quidditch training that had left Selene more exhausted than usual. She felt concerned about her sisters but even more so about the future. So many horrible things had already happened that she was terrified she'd miss out on the next big event and ended up missing something important. Yet she knew that even if she did happen to catch a glimpse, only her sisters and aunt were likely to listen to her to begin with.
It was on the damp grass that the headache started that was a common enough prelude to a vision. There was rumbling and falling debris but it was hard to tell where it was taking place as everything seemed to be shrouded in a dense mist. She heard screams all around and heard noises all around. She heard running and gurgling noises mixed with blood curling screams. Yet still nothing that could tell her what actually was taking place, or where. The vision faded and Selene pinched the bridge of her nose. She couldn't make any sense of this! She skipped ahead to her sisters, having slowed down without realising it. She couldn't tell them, not this time. There wasn't anything to tell after all. She wasn't even sure herself what she had seen.
