PERSONALITY Stephen stands tall and proud, leaving quite the intimidating presence to those that don't know him very well. He is usually a very quiet and thoughtful man and prefers to have as many facts as possible before making his choices. He has a strategic mind and doesn't mind making very difficult choices that others would hate having to make. He can be cold when required and grew up with a war mentality. He's willing to sacrifice others for the sake of victory. Despite that he's a deeply caring individual and while he's highly intelligent he doesn't treat those that are not on his intellectual level as lesser. He used to keeping most of his thoughts to himself, unless they are required to share. He doesn't seek out power and while he's comfortable in a position of authority he doesn't feel a need to exert power over others. His preference is always towards a bond of mutual respect. While excessively patient, he doesn't enjoy dealing with disrespectful people. He has no respect for those that use the dark arts to further their goals, regardless of any history he might have with said individuals. His respect, once lost, is difficult to regain. ORIGIN & RELATIONS London, UK. William Jorkins - Father, deceased Joanne Jorkins neé Combe, deceased Bernard Jorkins - Older brother, retired Prudence Jorkins neé Churring - wife, retired model/activist Bertha Jorkins - Daughter, deceased Beatrice Jorkins - Daughter, Ministry official HISTORY To detail the entirety of Stephens life would be far too much work, so we're going for the highlight version. He was the second born in a very normal pureblood wizarding family. They were never high in standing, nor very rich. They were perfectly average in just about every way one might imagine. Nobody expected much, nor did they expect too little. Both young boys were raised on the tail of one war, only to be raised for another. The brothers attended Hogwarts with good results. Bernard was sorted to Hufflepuff where Stephen was sorted to Ravenclaw. As a talented chess player he built quite the reputation in school. He was a master strategist and his chess set had blind confidence in him before he reached his third year. Strategy was clearly his strength. Making friends wasn't. Not that he needed to worry, he wasn't lonely. He just wasn't popular. He... unnerved people. Nobody doubted that he'd throw them under the bus if that was what it took to gain a victory. Luckily, they realised he wasn't particularly ambitious. He simply enjoyed seeing a good plan come together. After graduation, Stephen joined the prestigious aurors. He did fine in training but was by no means exceptional as a common soldier. He didn't get an opportunity to prove himself, something he found very frustrating. Due to his young age, his strategic suggestions were ignored constantly. Despite the constant swim against the stream, Stephen remained with the aurors. He needed a job to support himself and his wife, after all. Stephen married young. He was merely twenty and one when his first daughter Bertha was born. Not long after her his wife (not very bright but very pretty) found herself to be with child once again. They were quite the happy family. Their second daughter Beautrice was born and Stephen found himself wanting for nothing more. He had a family that was perfect to him, making the burdens of his work a lot easier to deal with. Within his family he was loved and respected. At age thirty and five, the first wizarding war started. While Stephen fought for his tactis and strategies to be heard, he found them falling on deaf ears. He wasn't old enough, nor did he have the prestige in the field his superiors desired in order to test his mind. Even if he could easily beat each and every single one of them in wizards chess they didn't consider those skills to 'apply to the real world'. After the war ended, Stephen decided on a career change and switched to the department of mysteries, where his mind was properly challenged and he often came up with schedules and strategies that could benefit the apartment in furhtering their research. While hardly what he himself thought was the best application of his skills, he was appreciated more and found himself to cultivate his patience, as well as harness his skill at occlumency that he'd begun to learn as an auror. For many years, there was peace, although Stephen always remained sceptic. It was in the lead up towards the second wizarding war that disaster struck for Stephen. His daughter Bertha disappeared. While she'd never been particularly smart he was concerned, but he wasn't heard properly when he asked for investigation into her disappearance, though he never stopped pushing. He never learned to respect the head of her department again after she turned up, murdered. The family mourned and Stephen felt angry. When the war started again, he retook his former job as auror and this time managed to assert his personality in the field. He became a strategist in the war, while he could be in office. He was forced to flee when the ministry fell, but continued to work missions for those opposing Voldemort even after he fled. While he operated on a small scale, he was satisfied he could still participate. After the war ended he retired from the ministry and spend a few years working as an alchemist, seeking to further his understanding of the universe and console a part of his past and the losses he'd suffered in the process. Not having any desire to live forever, he abandoned the venture after a mere six years and began his first book. While he published several books on mostly academic subjects, he was never fully done with the war against blood supremacy so when he was requested to become head of the department following the intrusion of said department by the purifiers, he didn't think terribly long before taking up the mantle. After all, it was the best way to regain trust in the department, and see if any more bad seeds needed to be purged before they got a chance to bud. WANT AD
