Class: Care of Magical Creatures Professor: Clara Bates Assignment: Take care of a pygmy puff for a week and write daily journal entries. Minimum Paragraph each entry. Please avoid killing your pygmy puff.
OOC Notes: This is a fun way to develop your character more. And feel free to put your character's pygmy puff in another thread with someone. The entries can be normal to completely bizarre. Be fancy or simple!~ And example is below. Feel free to post your first entry and edit the post later with more entries. Have fun with it! Example Journal Entry (from an old character of mine) « Day 1 » Professor Bates gave us these pygmy puffs as pets, but an assignment. I picked out this golden one that has the same color as Joy. Pretty awesome. White playing with it at a table outside, I met some kid and his puff. Pride was getting all happy and even followed it to a bush, where they were cuddling. I'm pretty sure Pride wanted to breed at that second. Pride will be dealing with punishment in the Astronomy tower later tonight.
Two things I want to find out: 1) Does it bounce against walls 2) How far does it go if hit with a beater's bat?
I'm just curious.

ENTRY ONE
meet spook! he - is it a he? do pygmy puffs have genders? note to self: investigate gender - is an almost violent orange. i don't really know what i'm meant to feed it, which may be problematic in the long run. i tried dangling a lettuce leaf in front of its (incredibly small) mouth, but it didn't seem very interested. are they carnivores? though, it did seem pretty keen on some honeydukes fudge i was eating while examining it. i wasn't really in the mood for sharing, though.
i made spook a bed out of a scarf i knitted in knitting club. pastel pink really suits him.
ENTRY TWOi tried doing a diagram of spook. unfortunately, there wasn't much to document. unless i actually shave the darn thing, i'm not going to know what parts he or she has or doesn't have. for all i know, there could be feathers underneath! but there's my, ahh. artistic interpretation. still haven't found it's, um. fricky fracky parts. you know, the ones that... enable... breeding. then again, i haven't really been actively searching, because, gross. i assume they must have genders seeing as they are bred commercially. i might try putting it with another student's pygmy puff and see what happens. spook doesn't really haven't any friends at the moment. what a loser. oh, and i managed to feed him! he really likes sugar. he's so cute when he eats, too. if he were any sweeter, i think i'd need a dentist.
ENTRY THREEokay, so in knitting club today, i tried my hand at making spook a sweater. and i did pretty well, actually. the colour blue really brings out his eyes, and his orangutan-esque 'do. now, i know that's not really an observation, but i'm getting to that. it fit him perfectly! i left him in his little makeshift bed i made him that sits on my bedside table and went to sleep, and in the morning? he was out of his sweater. which means, spook knows how to do a trick. even if the trick is as basic and mundane as being able to undress himself when no one is looking (no need to be coy, spook!) i thought it was worth making a note out of.

DAY ONE of a Week With a Pygmy PuffThis little ball or rather pygmy puff is Quaffle. When I gave it it's name it looked at me like I was crazy. Well I am look at who I have as a father. I have had one of these before, it was the same color and everything. I gave it some pie earlier when I tried to get it to eat something. It ate all of it. Not sure if I should have given Quaffle pie. It bounced around for the past hour or so on a sugar high. Oh well with that much energy I am sure that it will enjoy being tossed around like a quaffle, hence the name. I just need to see if anyone is up for an indoor game of quidditch with pygmy puffs. Maybe I can get the other seventh years to play. It will be fun. We just have to make sure we don't kill our pygmy puffs. Professor Bates never said they couldn't get injured. As long as they survive I think she won't give me detention for playing quidditch with a magical creature. Might have to cast a protection charm on Quaffle and the others just to make sure that no harm comes to them. I should ask someone about it, mabye James or Fred, wait nope that won't work we would just get side tracked and try to change the color of them. I think I will ask Elle(Elodie) about a protection spell to use. DAY TWO of a Week With a Pygmy PuffI woke up this morning to find Quaffle sitting on my face. It was quite funny, well at least to my dorm mates. I wasn't to happy but oh well. It likes to follow me around which is fine, if he doesn't get stepped on. Most times I just have him sit on my shoulder. I even found out he likes to fly around, by that I mean using him as an actual Quaffle, just joking Professor, I haven't done that yet but I am considering it. He does like flying though as I had him with me when I was flying around at the Quidditch pitch. He doesn't like fire all that much or anything to do with pyrotechnics which is a shame. But oh well.

Blossom's Journey #1 I have found that Blossom enjoys muggle technology. My earphones were in my satchel and when Blossom and I decided to hang out in the courtyard where I began to do some homework, Blossom eat my earphones. Well, looks like I won't be listening to any music any time soon. She (is it a she) seems to like chocolate too. I had a bar in my satchel and that disappeared. I remembered reading they they could eat anything. Looks like that will be my test.
I took it to dinner with me, afraid it would actually eat my homework if I left it in my dorm. She/it really liked the chicken today. It even ate the bone... Where does it put all of it's food? And I haven't seen it... empty itself yet either.

DAY ONE Tiny spent the day exploring his new premises. Seems to have settled on a location near a low-burning candle to next, and regularly searches the surrounding area. Unknown whether this territorial behavior is aggressive or curious in nature. Like a Puffskein, seems to collect dust bunnies for bedding. Unsure as to whether it needs to be fenced in. Thus far, no desire has been shown to extend beyond the desk it nests on. DAY TWO Can't find the damn thing. I know it's somewhere in the robes I'm wearing, but I can't find it. DAY THREE Finally found it. I put an Enlarging Charm on Quinn, to better keep track of it during the day. Interestingly enough, it's adapted to its new size very quickly. It realized that it was larger and stronger and got more bold. It even hissed at a couple of cats in the common room. Once I cast a Reducing Charm to restore its normal size, it adapted back even more quickly. These things may be more intelligent than actual Puffskeins. It makes me wonder what breeding methods were used to create them...

Day One: This thing is...strange. I am not sure what purpose such a thing has. It doesn't really do anything of great usefulness. All it does it chirp annoyingly and sit on my shoulder. I try to sit it someone else and it just chirps and chirps and chirps some more. What else am I supposed to do with this thing?! I already had to keep my cat from turning into either a toy or lunch twice already. Its going to be a rather long week if she keeps this up. What does this thing do all day? It eats like a pig -- I fed it four fish fillets and it ate it bones and all! -- and yet doesn't seem to have to use the restroom either. The only thing I noticed is that it seems to chirp a lot more when its agitated or scared or thinks its in danger. Maybe this is why it likes my shoulder--it feels safe from my cat. All I know is that I cannot handle this thing on my shoulder 24-7! I will have to figure something out ...

Day One: Well... my puff is pink. Not much to say other than that. I did name her, Pinkie, though. I mean, what else was I supposed to name her? It seemed to fit. I also just assumed it was a girl. She doesn't do much. She enjoys sitting in my robe pocket all day. I don't think she likes Bowler very much, even though I know he wouldn't hurt her. I've yet to test out how she is with others but hopefully she'll be able to get the attention of some ladies. She is pink, after all.

Journal Entry One:
This thing is rather cute I must admit. It's all ... puffy and fluffy and what not. It feels nice. Its not doing a whole lot though I must admit. It likes to lounge around and get in my way ... .... it likes to try sitting on top of my books. Which wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have to use them, but I do. And he??? (how does one tell gender with a pygmy puff--this calls for some research???) --- she??? err it??? ... anyway Aero! The puff gets rather indignant when I try to move him off my books or to anywhere else actually. He gets all huffy and really its like a small child getting mad cause you got onto them actually as odd as that may sound to some. Perhaps I have to teach it manners like my mom and dad of course taught me? Again this calls for research....
