hadni had always thought that donating blood was a little creepy, but she still thought she'd do it today. she wanted to be helpful to those who needed transfusions and to all those poor vampires who were trying not to suck people dry. one of her friend was a vampire, so she heard a lot about what the life was like. it did not sound like fun one bit! especially if you were trying to be good and not eat people for funsies. she'd never given blood before, but what was wrong with one time?
not long after entering the bank, she was waiting for the test on her blood to make sure that it was safe to donate. she waited impatiently, knowing that she had health issues in the past. when the healer came out to tell her that her blood was in fact low on something or other, hadni understood. she leaned back in the chair, lifting both hands to her forehead and looked up at the ceiling.
this was just her luck. she had come here to do a selfless thing and ended up just making a fool out of herself, again. who was she kidding. there was something wrong with her, there was no way anyone would want her blood. or her anything for that matter.

@hadni as he sat in one of the chairs in the room, calex glanced across to the woman who now sat with her head in her hands. he wondered what could be wrong. but it wasn't any of his buisness. was it? it didn't stop him from wanting to go and ask her, console her if something was the matter. his mother would smack him over the head if she ever knew he hadn't. his mother was a believer in the old adage if someone was hungry you fed them, if someone was cold you gave them a blanket and if someone was hurting you tried to ease their pain. it had been a good way to grow up, though him and his brothers had often been the cause of each other's pain. brotherly fights and what not. he shook his head a little. he was here waiting to see what this donating was all about. he'd met a few people who had been hurt in his old line of work and had been curious about helping out. though he had to admit the thought of the needle freaked him out a little. he put down the prophet that he was reading and stood up, stretched his legs and moved to walk over and sit down in the vacant chair next to the woman. "is everything okay?"

At the sound of someones voice, Hadni looked up, running a hand through her hair as she did so. She didn't recognize the guy, but he was handsome. Incredibly, actually. But that wasn't what stuck out to her about him. There was a sort of deep rooted sadness in his eyes. She bit her lip, shaking her head a little before sitting up straight. "No, I'm fine. I mean," she shook her head again and looked down at her hands in her lap. "Just one of those things, you know." Yup, now she was just speaking nonsense to this guy. She looked back over at him, her hair flipping behind her shoulders as she did so. "Just found out I can't donate blood. You know how some people have blood that isn't...erh... healthy?" she chuckled a little at that, a bit of a crazy person chuckle. So bitter than you didn't have anything else to do but laugh. "It's not a big deal though. They have people like you, right? Are you here to donate?" she asked. @jaeger

@hadni "Just found out I can't donate blood. You know how some people have blood that isn't...erh... healthy?" oh so that was it. she wanted to donate but couldn't. he smiled a little and leaned his elbows down onto his knees. "at least you tried" he knew people who wouldn't even think of coming into this place. either because they were too scared or didn't think it was a good enough cause to have something taken out of you. he didn't often keep in contact with those last few. not the sort of people he wanted around him and his son. "people like me? well i'm not sure my blood is that wonderful" he said with a grin and he shrugged his shoulders a little.
"i was thinking about it. just came in to find out what was involved." though the more he sat there the more he thought he should do it. what was a small needle right? apparently a lot but still the cause was good and he'd gotten to make a conversation with a pretty woman, he owed the centre for that. "i'm calex." he said shifting his pose and moving to stretch his hand out lightly toward her.

Yeah, at least she tried. It's the thought that counts... Right? She simply smiled at him as he went on to talk about how his blood wasn't that wonderful. "I'm sure it's nice and strong, just like you," she grinned. Hadni was a shameless flirt, even when having emotional issues.
As he offered his name, and a hand, she shook it. "Hadni. It's nice to meet you," she said, her usual Gryffindor flair starting to cover up her emotional baggage. She was good at that. "Well, it's a great thing they do for the vampires. It's hard enough to not suck people dry, I'm sure," morbidity, classic.
"They say you should eat after you donate," she added. Subtlllle. May as well make the best of this situation. The more she joked around though, the more she could feel the walls barreling back into place.

@hadni he laughed a little when she stated his blood was probably strong like he was. he'd never thought about blood that way before. he had always known he hated looking at his own. shaking her hand lightly he nodded when she said her name. it was different, he didn't think he'd ever heard someone called that before which was unique. he agreed with her on the fact it was good for vampires. he'd come across people who had been killed by vampires in his time as an auror. he never had it in him to find or channel anger toward a werewolf or a vampire, they had no choice in the actions they committed. it was instinct and it was survival, dark wizards on the other hand? well they chose to commit the horrors they took part in. it was all them. he had no trouble garnishing anger for that.
"do they now? well since neither of us have donated yet. why don't we go get a drink instead of food?" he asked with a grin. yes he'd asked her to come with him for a drink. wow. he hadn't been expecting that. it had been a long time since he'd asked anyone out. he had tried a few dates when blaise had been about five but nothing had ever come of it and it had mostly been friends setting him up with people they knew. he hadn't actually asked someone out since his wife had died. he wasn't all too sure how he felt about that now that he had done it.

Hadnis flirting never failed her, and she wasn’t surprised that he offered that they go get a drink instead of getting food. She smiled, feeling a bit like her normal ‘walled up’ self again. She was glad, though, that her moment of weakness was basically over. Still, Hadni hadn’t reallybeen romantically involved with anyone since Chase and... It was a weird thought. The possibility of pursuing something again made her a little sick to her stomach... but she also knew that this was the best way for her to bury her feelings. To just act like everything was totally fine.
”I think that’s a great idea, Calex,” she said, holding a hand out for him to take in order to help lift her from her seat. If he did take it, great, if he didn’t she could get up on her own. He seemed like the chivalrous type though, so what was there to lose?

@hadni he reach down to take her hand when she held it to him. he smiled slightly as he held onto her small hand carefully. it felt odd holding a woman's hand in his own. it had been so long since he had. it was a nice feeling though. warm and soft in his own calloused hand that was rough after years of duelling with it. as she stood he had a sudden thought. he needed to tell her about blaise. while it might be nothing and this could be a one time date that wouldn't go anywhere, there was always that possibility. today could go well and then you never know what might happen and he wasn't about to let some woman think he was single and available. he was single of course but his availability? well that depened on his son. it might seem weird for someone without children but that was just it. how he felt about it. "hadni? before we go for a drink. this might be a bit sudden and premature and have no bearing on today but .. i have a son. he's eleven. thought it should be upfront knowledge." he'd seen people hide their children from people they were dating then have that parseon flee like there were werewolves chasing them. he wasn't going to be one of those people.

Hadnis eyes widened momentarily as he mentioned a son. "Oh," she started, her resolve breaking. She took a moment of silence to think. Not that she cared that he had a son, that wasn't a big deal at all, but if they were being all up front then... why not? "Well, in that case I'll tell you that I was almost a mother. Didn't work out though. Hey, just means I've got the motherly instincts," he almost winked along with that line, but couldn't bring herself to do it.
For a brief moment they stood there, hand in hand, both having revealed large parts of their lives upfront. Hadni couldn't deny, she liked that. She finally broke the moment, smiling at him sheepishly before dropping her hand. "Come on," she said, her voice back to it's exuberant state as she crossed in front of him toward the door...
This was going to be a good date, she could tell.

@hadni "i can't exactly hide him in a closet, he makes too much noise.. so i thought you should know" he explained quickly when he watched her face after his bombshell. working from experience it was better to tell the truth. secrets ended up with people getting hurt and things falling apart. it never ended well for people who lied. "i'm sure you'd have been a great mother. and will be one day" he said as he gave her hand a small squeeze. so they both knew something about the other than was enough to make lesser people turn away and run with their mouths screaming. but they were still standing here and she seemed keen enough to go on the date with him still. he smiled a little as she dropped his hand and he nodded, grabbing his jacket from the chair he had been sitting on and he followed her out of the building, holding the door for her and stepping out into the sunlight. "where would you like to go?"

Hadni laughed, out loud, at the idea of hiding his son in a closet. "Oh, I wouldn't want you to do that! I'm sure he's a great kid," it was a bit strange to think that his child was old enough to go to Hogwarts and she had only graduated a few years ago, but that was beside the point. Her child would have been... almost three now. Yikes. "So, Calex, what house was your son sorted into? Assuming that he is at Hogwarts," he asked.
At the squeeze of her hand as his words of encouragement about her being a mother, Hadni felt a slight lump in her throat. She smiled, her eyes misting over a tiny bit as he helped her up, but she didn't respond verbally. No, she was afraid to open her mouth for a moment, afraid her true colors would show.
As they stepped out, Hadni turned back to him and gave a shrug, "awe, I don't really care... I mean, we could just slip into the Fountain of Fair Fortune?" she suggested, gesturing to the pub.

@hadni he laughed when she said that he wouldn't want to lock his son in the closet. "well he does have his moments ... " he said with a grin. he was kidding of course. but there had been times when calex had been pulling his hair out and not knowing what to do that the closet had been a distant thought in his mind. though he was sure he wasn't the first parent to have felt something like that and that he wouldn't be the last one to think it either. "he's in gryffindor. his mother's house" calex said with a slight smile. he wasn't going to hide the fact he'd been married before and that he still loved his late wife. there wasn't any reason to hide it and he'd always been under the assumption that if someone minded then they were the ones with the problem and not him. though he didn't think he'd have to worry about that with hadni. something just told him that. "sounds great" he said as he smiled and moved to hold the door open for her. "it's on me"

"Oh, I was in Gryffindor!" she said excitedly as he mentioned what house his son was in. "What house were you in, then?" she asked, stepping through the door as he offered it and gave an accepting nod as he said the drinks would be on him. They soon found a table in the corner, away from the general crowd. Hadni didn't mind being the center of attention but she often was, so it was nice to hide out every once in a while. Especially if she was with a guy.
Which reminded her, "oh, Calex. I should warn you. Spending time with me occasionally get's people landed in the Newspapers. I'm sort of... ugh," she rolled her eyes at the next thing she was about to say, "famous. People like to know what's going on in my life. It's pretty annoying, actually," she said with a slight chuckle and another eye roll.

@hadni he chuckled when she said she'd been in gryffindor. it was a good house. "seems to be a theme" he said as they walked. he stuck his hands into the pockets of his jacket and he looked at her. "i was in hufflepuff" he said as he moved along the path with her. people often thought it was a little odd that he'd chosen the career he had when they find out the house he'd been in but there had been plenty of brave wizards come out of the house of yellow and black, probably just as many as the house of gold and red. after they were settled at their table and the waiter was getting their drinks in order he leaned his arms on the table before him. "in the newspaper? that's fine. maybe blaise will think it's cool. not run from me when he see's me coming" he joked. okay so his son wasn't that bad when he saw his dad in school but it was a funny thought. he wondered what she could do that would get her in the newspaper a lot. he thought about asking but then wondered if it would be rude if he didn't know who she was. so he left it up to her to tell him if she wanted too, but he'd give her an opening. "i'm used to having eyes on me. i've been the deputy at hogwarts for a few months now and all those eyes looking at you in the great hall .. at least if people see you in the paper they can't look back at you" he said with a grin as he looked at her.

Awe, a badger! How cute. She was glad that he didn't get all weird about her explaining the newspapers. As he explained that he was used to the attention, and that maybe his son wouldn't run from him- she chuckled. "It's probably pretty embarrassing to have your dad at school with you. Especially when he's so young and not mature enough to really understand how lucky that is," she said with an encouraging smile. "As for the people reading the paper not being able to look back at me, that's a really good point! But wow, Deputy Head? That's a pretty serious job. I don't know if I'm mature enough for this relationship," she joked with a lighthearted laugh that had her leaning back in her chair with a bright smile.
She leaned forward once her laughter was wrapped up to continue, "I'm a Quidditch player for the Harpies. Do you follow Quidditch at all?" it wasn't in a manner of mockery, no, she was simply she asking nonchalantley. It might be kind of nice to meet a guy who didn't know exactly who she was.
"I don't think we attended Hogwarts at the same time, though. I only graduated three years ago," she said, realizing how incredibly young that made her sound.
