Lily licked her lips, slowly opening her eyes. She glanced down at the marks on her forearm. Her eyes widened in panic, but only for a short moment before she remembered what she was doing there.
And what she was.
A crazed grin broke across her face. She started to laugh, a low laugh as to not wake the others. It must have been two hours, maybe three since she was brought here. Her parents were called, no doubt. She had to keep her cool once they were there.
She took this moment to relish in her decision. Her unbelievably stupid decision, not that she thought it was. She was a werewolf. She wanted to sit up, get out of this bed and go running into the woods right now. Like the wild animal she was.
But no, she had to compose herself. She had to show some kind of... something. But really, what was she going to tell her family? Especially after everything they had just been through with her mother losing her memory?
For a moment her joy faltered. What had she done. Was this reckless decision solely because of her mothers situation? No, no way. She wanted this. This was well thought out.
After a few more moments with her thoughts, the Hospital Wing door finally opened and the concerned faces started running in....

What was happening in his world? James had gone over the list of tragedies time and time again, there was really no point anymore. He knew what had happened and by now so did everyone else. But when he was called to the hospital wing he had no idea why and to be frank he was almost annoyed underneath all of the worry. Why did bad thing after bad thing keep happening to him and his family this year? James nearly sprinted down to the hospital, wondering what it could be. Albus? Aurora? Casey? But who was actually in the bed before him when he opened the door shocked him.
"Lily?!" James exclaimed and he practically jumped across the room to reach the side of his sister's bed. "What happened? What are you doing here?" His mind was going a million miles a minute. He felt totally in the dark about the situation. Why hadn't anyone mentioned Lily was the one in here and why!? He looked around frantically before making eye contact with her again. There was something different about her... he could see it in her eyes. It was a weird feeling that washed over him but he could swear he saw something more... wild in her eyes.
"What's going on, Lil? Do Mum and Dad know you are here?" The door opened again behind him then and he hoped to Merlin it was a Potter.

he heard james' exclamation before he had even reached the top of the stairs to the hospital wing. it was lily? he frowned and quickened his pace a little. what had happened to his sister? why hadn't then told him who was in the hospital wing. just that he needed to go there now. that's all he had been told and now he was starting to question it. he pushed his hand against the door and saw his brother hovering over his sisters bed. his sister didn't look like she was dying, like she was injured and it puzzles him a little. walking over to the bed he rubbed his hand through his hair and he glanced her up and down carefully, searching for any kind of sign. "lily?" he asked her. okay so it was lame. he was worried about his sister, angry about the fact that something had caused her to be put into the hospital. he knew his sister would understand though, he hoped anyway. he had james there, it wasn't like she was going to lack comfort and people who openly showed her affection and worry. he was pretty sure his parents would be here soon. he moved to sit on the bed that was next to her and he folded his legs under himself. "bet she's just trying to get out of school" he said, his eyes moving to lily as he tried to make an effort in letting her know he did care about her. but that sarcastic comment was all he had at the moment, he just hoped she knew he was trying.

So, Ginny apparently had a daughter and apparently her daughter was in the hospital wing because apparently her daughter was bitten by a werewolf. Ginny had no idea what to think about this. She fully believed that these were her children, of course. Any sort of crazy thing was possible in the world she lived in but it still freaked her out to no end that she had three children to worry about. Not too mention how those children came to be... she pushed those crazy thoughts aside as she and her husband *internal screaming* @crystal7 walked into the hospital wing in a hurry. "Boys," Ginny gave her sons a firm nod before turning her attention to the little redheaded girl in the bed beside her. It was strange, seeing parts of her own face in so young a person. She used to look like that and a part of her thought she still did. Her eyes widened at the sight of the girl, still a little panicked by the idea. "Lily, what happened?" she asked. Isn't that what mothers did? Or should she be fussing over her and checking her wounds and asking all sorts of questions? lily luna potter @al @james |

He could not believe this! As if anything else needed to go wrong right now. Harry wouldn't have admitted it to a soul right now--but he felt close to crying and perhaps screaming a bit as he got the news that his youngest was in the hospital after a--a werewolf attack. He walked towards the hospital wing with Ginny and the realization of matters was still sinking in. And sinking in. And still sinking in. It was admittedly a rather tough pill to swallow at the moment. She was a werewolf now. His daughter was a werewolf! An affliction that he wouldn't have wished upon even his worst enemy and now his child had to go through this for the rest of her life! His first thoughts immediately went to that scum Greyback or some relative thereof. Fenrir was a vicious brute who Harry would have loved nothing more then to put out of his misery. And surely he had some relatives about as much as he would have hated to admit to it. Somehow he knew--he just knew that Fenrir was somehow responsible for this. If not him personally then he probably sicced someone on her as a way of revenge. He wasn't thinking fully straight at the moment obviously but he fought that anger down and composed himself as he entered the hospital room. He saw the bandages on her arm and figured that was where she had gotten bitten. But otherwise she looked relatively uninjured. It--made no sense to him. He suddenly began to realize that it hadn't been Fenrir personally. That beast would have injured her much much more seriously and gravely. Then who? Who was it? Why? Why did they do it? All question raging through his head but he had to not barrage his daughter with them all at once. They had asked what had happened. And well that was a start. Albus was his regular ol' sarcastic self and Harry wanted to reprimand him for that but it would have been a bit of a waste of breath really. It was how his son was and how he coped with a lot of things he realized. And there was no point in arguing with him over that. He cared--he truly did or else he probably wouldn't have been here. And that was all he could really ask. "How are you feeling Lily?" he decided to ask after a moment of trying to decide what to say or if he should wait for her to response to her brothers and mother first. The first was James, unsurprisingly. So the professors hadn't told her brother what had attacked her. Her eyes widened at his frantic nature and she sat up to take his hand, "hey don't worry-" she was cut off by Albus entering the room. Her eyes moved to him. He was much more calm than James, big surprise there. Then he claimed she was just trying to get out of class. She grinned at him, "you know me well, Al," the fun ended quickly however when the door opened again. Okay, Lily really hadn't thought through how much seeing her parents faces was going to make her panic about this. She felt her throat close and her stomach clench. Her mother still looked confused as hell and her father... Well, she wanted to hide Adrian under her pillow for safekeeping. Not so much that he looked angry, be she could see the wheels turning in his head. "Mom. Dad I..." she bit her lip, turning back to look at James before answering. "Werewolf. James hardly moved when he heard the door to the room open. It was when he heard the voice of that person that got his attention. He had to admit that he was surprised to see Albus after all that had gone on between them. But family was family and even after all of the fighting they had done recently, James still loved him. But he hated his attitude. When Albus muttered something about Lily doing this to get out of class, James shot Albus an angry look. He wanted to tell him to be quiet but he didn't want to put any sort of stress on Lily right now. James used to be able to be a lot more patient with his brother but since the Phoenix meeting, his patience had been a lot shorter. When the door opened again, James looked and he was relieved to see it was his parents.
His mother still seemed distant. James was now a little used to that after a while. She couldn't help it after all. Her memory had been wiped. The doctors still didn't know what to do but the Potters were taking it day by day. His dad seemed stressed. James didn't blame him for that, either. Work had to be hectic with everything going on at school and even at the ministry. But he seemed like he knew something that they didn't. James looked back at Lily with a worried look on his face. Why was she here? Then she broke it to them.
James's eyes widened so much they must have looked like they were going to bug out of his head. He now towered over Lily in her bed. "WHAT?!" His voice was loud but still so full of worry. He looked at his parents even though right now, only one of them was really his parent. He looked back at Lily. "Lily! What were you doing in the woods!?" He was angry. Why would Lily do something so reckless? James suddenly felt like he had been so absent in his little sister's life this year. And she was even in the same house as he was! Speaking of the same house... he felt as if he could remember her hanging out with another fifth year boy around the common room recently. His mind wondered if he may have had anything to do with her being in the Forbidden Forest.

"see, who say's i'm not funny" he said lightly, a smal smile on his own face as he saw his sisters light up with one of her own, but it didn't last long. albus caught the angry look in james' eye as his older brother glared at him and frankly it pissed him off. what the hell was james getting at? that albus was actually serious? he had been making a joke with sarcasm in order to make his little sister smile in a horrible place. lily knew that and she'd been okay with it and it had worked. albus narrowed his eyes back at his older brother. "shove off james. keep the angry eyes for someone they work on. i was trying to make her smile." he snapped at his brother, tired of the way his family always seemed to get mad at him in these sorts of situations. it had been the same at the hospital when his mother had been in there. they didn't understand his way of coping. it felt like they didn't try and understand it. not everyone fitted and panicked and worried their little hearts out and doted on the person in hospital. he was not one of those people. he worried but he kept it to himself. he had always done it. if they weren't used to it by now then they never would be. he turned from his brother, well aware that his arriving parents had probably heard his little snap at james' but he didn't care right now. since the meeting him and james had been butting heads a little more than normal.
when his sister dropped the bombshell. albus just blinked. a werewolf? what the hell had she been thinking. he lifted a hand to run it over the back of his neck as he lifted his gaze to his little sister. it was odd. worrying of course and he couldn't help feeling anxious about what his little sister was going to go through for the rest of her life. it was horrible. not being in control. he shook his head slightly, one question plaguing on his mind. his sister wasn't stupid. she knew about werwolves, she knew the dangers of the forest even on a night that didn't herald a full moon and a change in werewolves. so why had she been out there when she knew all this? there was a reason that students weren't allowed there. she was too calm, to relaxed in telling her parents what had happened too. there was just something that he had to ask her. there was no way someone could be so calm about going through hell for the rest for the rest of their life, unless. he leaned forward a little, keeping his gaze on lily's face as he waited for james to finish his tirade of yelling at her before he let the words slip out of his mouth. "it was an accident .. wasn't it lily?" his little sister wouldn't plan something like this. would she? even if she'd gone out looking for a werewolf. there was no way of knowing what would have come out of it. as bad as it sounded he hoped it had been a mistake. a simple slip of judgmen and not a plan.

Her brothers both reacted the way she expected. James in an emotional outburst, and Albus with calm logic. As her brothers fought, Lily had a split second to decide what to do next. If she avoided Albuss eyes, it would be obvious what she'd done. But, if she looked into his eyes, he'd know. So, she decided to do this in her own terms, sort of, and looked Albus right in the eyes. "Of course it was an accident," her voice was stern, feigning offense. She reached a hand out to take James's before looking up at her father. "They said everything is going to be okay. It's manageable," ugh, what a grown up word to use. Still, she wanted her family to be at ease. Someday she'd tell them that she was happy that this happened. Maybe even tell them that this was her decision. By the looks on their faces, that time was clearly not now. As for why she was in the forest, the story she had chosen to tell was a silly one, but it was believable given her reputation. "I was... Well, I was trying to scout if a secluded place. I thought I wasn't too far in but I got a bit lost. I was trying to surprise someone with a nice place to retreat." Her mind flashed to last night. The moonlight shining through the trees, the leaves playing with the shadows in the ground... And Adrian. Smiling at her before moving away, changing... She broke out of the memory, looking down at her lap. "I know I shouldn't have gone alone. James had no response to Albus trying to make Lily smile. At least it was an improvement from his attitude towards James lately. James just rolled his eyes at his brother, half angry that they still hadn't made up since the meeting. But his anger about the meeting was bubbling and making James angry just at the way Albus was. Why did he always react so callous and distant in these situations? They had all worried about him when he got hurt during Quidditch! Deep down, James knew it was just because Albus handled his feelings differently but right now James didn't care. He was getting angry, like he felt the next thing Albus said could potentially send him over the edge...
When Lily grabbed James's hand he felt considerably calmer. He watched his little sister as she explained why she had been in the woods and tightened his grip on her as she spoke. "Secluded spot?" James repeated, confused. "From what?"

An accident? Harry frowned, how could this be an accident? No, someone had planned this. He wracked his brain trying to work out who it could have been. He did this for a living, he could figure out who hurt his daughter. HE glanced over a Ginny for support, instinctively. Then a pang shot through his heart. Ginny didn't know what to do. She didn't even know Lily. He pushed the thought away before it could overwhelm his mind. Even as he was searching for answers in his head Lily explained she wanted to find a secluded space. His head snapped up. "Secluded place? Lily, why would you need a secluded place? Let alone in the forest!" He felt a slight sense of panic in his chest. Apparently 20 years of happiness had filled his quota. Now it was time for the chaos to reign free. He clenched his fists to keep panic from overwhelming him. This was his baby girl on this bed in front of him. She needed his help, support, and love. Since Ginny was... not herself, that whole duty fell to him. He relaxed his fists. Perhaps he would have the support he had come to rely on, but he would make sure Lily did. In a world where she would be considered a pariah, it was his job to make her feel loved. He took a steadying breath before sitting down on the bed near her feet. He set a hand on her ankle. "Are you in any pain?" His voice was gentle and soft. There was no point in getting angry over how it happened, it had happened. Now they had to deal with the consequences. Lily rolled her eyes at her father's words, then immediately regretted it. He looked up at him when he placed a hand on her ankle. "No. No, I'm fine Dad." She turned toward James now, answering the question that both he and her father had asked, "I said. I said I was trying to surprise someone. I just got lost, okay? I didn't realize how deep in I was..." she hadn't thought about this end of all this. About the way her family was going to react to her decision. Not that they knew it was a choice... with everything going on with her mother, James finding that poor girl dead... their family really had been through a lot, and here she was just making it worse. But one thought of Adrian and she was able to push those emotions aside. She had done what she wanted. The choice had been made. "Don't worry about me, guys," she then shifted her eyes to her mother. was it bad that albus had his doubts about whether lily was telling them the truth or not? it wasn't like his baby sister was dumb. she knew to stay away from the forest on her own, heck it wasn't like they were allowed in there anyway. though that rule seemed to have lapsed a little in the last few months. it seemed to be a popular place for people to go and work up trouble. he ran his hand through his hair and shifted on the bed he was sitting on. he leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees, watching his sister and father talk. she was trying to convince them not to worry about her. that was never going to happen. they's try and smother her. which in the long run wouldn't help her or so albus thought anyway. he smiled slightly as he leaned his hand down on the bed next to his leg. "well diesel and dexter will have something to play with on a full moon" he said, with his usual sarcasm level. he was trying to keep lily smiling. he didn't think she needed to be fawned over, to be coddled like she was fragile all of a sudden. she was probably anything but. his little sister was many things but fragile? breakable? weak? those things weren't words someone could use to describe lily potter. so why treat her that way?

Perhaps it was the two year age difference between them, but unlike Albus, James seemed to believe that there was all there was to the story. That Lily had just been trying to surprise someone and in a moment of stupid weakness, she had chosen the forest. Did he agree with it? No. Did he believe her? Surprisingly, yes. But part of that could also because of James's ego, always just believing that his sister was far more innocent and kind than himself - the big bad wolf of Gryffindor.
Oh. Wolf. Lily was a werewolf now. She had to be, after being attacked by one. James looked her over again, examining her. He had heard about werewolves all his life. His honorary brother, Teddy, had been conceived by one. And if his father had mentioned anything about them, it was that most were very understood and misjudged. They couldn't all be bad. Lily was not bad. He refused to believe it. And with the drama and tension that had occurred between James and his brother lately, one would have expected James to lash out for Albus's attempt at lightheartedness but James couldn't help but agree. His mouth formed a straight line until he finally did a small nod and smiled lightly.
"Does this mean I can get you a big dog bone for your birthday?"

 Harry gave James a pointed look, then Albus which hid his smile.In different circumstances, Harry would have laughed at the comment. But these were not different circumstances. He wondered what Ginny would say if she were here. He pushed that thought away from the front of his mind. He didn't need that distraction right now. He needed to focus on his children. "I'm just glad you are safe now." he said, holding her hand. She was safe now, at least from outside parties. From herself... well how else would she learn? He shook his head. He needed to get back to work... but he didn't want to leave.
