Cori had spent a lot of time in the library before the accident, and it felt great to be back there again, even if reading books was a little different. She had slowly been learning the braille alphabet but wasn't incredibly well practiced yet. Thankfully, she always read ahead for classes and had most of the terms reading in her mind already. Still, it was frustrating not being able to read off a page.
She sat at a table in the library, not really aware if there were many people around her. She prayed to God that Alice was nowhere around. That was the last thing she needed to deal with right now, Alice Longbottom and her snarky little attitude-no, no. There was no reason to start dwelling on thoughts of her nemesis right now. No, she had work to do. She had to learn how to read these books.

Cori instinctively turned her head to the sound of Alucards voice and let a smile slip onto her face He had been a real friend in all of this, something she didn't expect. She patted the seat beside her, offering for him to sit as he continued to speak. So, his mother collected Braille Tomes? With a bit of everything, that was nice. When he got around to asking how she was, she shrugged her shoulders a little. "Fine, I guess. Still getting used to all this blindness," she chuckled. Something about his voice and the way he acted around her, the way he treated her-made her feel like she didn't have as many troubles as she really did. Really, she felt happy. Like she was a part of something rather than being useless and cold as she always was.
Her skin was still freezing, of course, something that the help of had been set aside because of the attack on her and her father. She knew she'd want to look into it again, someday, but it'd be nice to get used to this blindness first. It'd be even nicer if she could make the blindness stop.... but that was wishful thinking.
"I hope it wasn't too much trouble, getting these," she added, lifting an ungloved hand to touch a book in front of her. She couldn't read Braille very well in her gloves... and that made her more vulnerable than ever.

Discussing her blindness at greater length? She raised an eyebrow at that but knew that by saying 'soon' that meant they wouldn't be talking about it right now, so she didn't comment on it. Cori was never one to push something. She nodded as he claimed the books were not difficult to come by, but she did slightly jump a little when he placed his hand atop hers. She was surprised that he didn't flinch back, however, considering the ice cold skin that he was undoubtedly feeling. She felt her cheeks get warm at the thought, but was sure that they in fact were just as ice cold on the outside as everywhere else.
He didn't say anything for a moment and neither did she. Was he contemplating walking away? Never speaking to her again or having to bother with her? Not like she would be hard to avoid, since she couldn't see anything. In fact, it would be all too easy. She felt the stress of abandonment start to boil in her until he finally began to speak again, and she let herself breathe once more.
"My father? What about him?" she didn't really hear the second half of the sentence, not when her 'father' and 'bad news' were paired up together...

As he spoke, all of the words blurred into Cori's mind like a blizzard. He described someone like... someone like Cain. But he wouldn't have done this. They had gone to school together for seven years. Sure they weren't friends but, no. That didn't make sense. Then he went on to explain that it was the fault of too many cross-breds. She winced at that word, but didn't pull her hand away still. She was a half-blood, was he saying that she was an abomination as well? He wouldn't say that. Suddenly his hand was moving, curling his fingers around hers. She bit her lip, turning her head to focus her unseeing eyes on the table in front of her. "You're right... I'm suffocating," she muttered, but what kind of world could they find?
"Are you... are you suggesting we go away? Together?" she felt her stomach flip over at the idea, and she felt herself... smile, which was odd.

The truth was, Cori didn't really let anyone research her condition while in Saint Mungos, at least not to her face. She didn't like the idea of people probing around trying to fix her, so she didn't give them permission to pursue it. She didn't trust them. Just goes to show how truly screwed up she is. She'd rather be blind then have strangers help her. Still, Alucard didn't feel like a stranger, not anymore. She didn't respond to his words about the school not helping her but simply bit her lip in silence as listened.
It was quiet for a moment until he pulled his hand away. At his words, she felt her face flushing with embarrassment, "I'm sorry," she started to say as he talked about the pain she could cause someone with only the touch of her hand. It was strange to think that she had that power, but it wasn't really a big surprise. There was a reason she had always avoided touching people.
As he mentioned wanting to admit something, she leaned forward to listen. The words were foreign to her, someone saying that pain was a goof thing, that her cold touch was a good thing... but hadn't she always reveled in pain? A different kind of pain-- the pain of loneliness, of solitude. She had always forced her life to be that way but in a way, she liked it.
When he was done explaining she nodded, pulling her hand back into her lap. "I... you have a lot of interesting ideas, Alucard," she said. "I think I like the running away one the most though," she felt herself smiling as she said this.

She had never let someone run their fingers through her hair before. It was a strange feeling, unfamiliar and... oddly warm even though a cold chill was crawling up her spine. As he spoke she listened in silence, as she always did, until he stopped to wait for her response. His hand stopped at her cheek though, and her body shuddered obviously. She shifted her gaze down, even though that didn't make a difference on what she could see. It was just habit.
After a long, long, moment of silence she reached her hand out to place it on his knee. "You're the only person I don't mind having around," her voice wasn't soft, wasn't gentle. No. It was firm, almost harsh. Her grip on his knee tightened and she closed the gap between them, rather forcefully pushing her lips against his.
She had never kissed anyone before, of course not. She didn't even let people touch her so there was no way a kiss could have happened. It was an incredibly strange sensation and something she was not expecting at all. A burst of warmth went through her and her body felt like an electric current had exploded and spread from her lips.
Yeah, she could see herself running away with him. She could see herself abandoning all reason and making some choices that would not be advisable for the side of good. She could easily see herself avenging her fathers death. More than anything, she liked the way Alucard liked her--- the way he reacted to the cold pain that came from her mouth...

Coriander kissed him back, showing the same amount of intensity and temptation that he had done. Emotions we're confusing and physical contact was even more confusing. Still, kissing wasn't at all bad, especially kissing someone whom she'd grown to care for. Still, they were in the library and she wasn't about to join that club. So, she pulled away after another moment, even though that kiss had only been brief. She aimed her eyes where she hoped his would be... but a part of her knew that she had guessed right. They were right there, she could tell.
"Come on, let's get out of here," she said, removing her hand from his knee to collect her things and stand. Then she held her hand out to him. She had never held hands with someone in public before... well, not really at all, actually. She felt this strange rush, this strange exhilaration. She was really going to do this?
@alucard (let's end this one too. they can have a reunion later after the kidnapping stuff (I'm in a lot of snogging posts right now O.o)
