Hogsmeade! A beautiful, exhilarating and free feeling! Paris loved Hogwarts, a lot, it was her favourite place to be but a part of that wonder was the village of Hogsmeade. Just down the road, a beautiful walk from the castle, was a stunning little village. Winter, spring, summer or autumn the village really shone. Paris felt like a little school girl again and the thrill was charming to her.
A cold wind blew and billowed her cloak around her legs. Flapping and hitting she enjoyed the sensation as it brought back such fond and happy memories. Paris had always loved her home and her parents but she loved Hogwarts more.
Paris’ trip to Hogsmeade was not a short one. She enjoyed her day at the village. She shopped for so many things, school supplies, new clothes, books, new clothes, a new pair of boots, some more new clothes, chocolates and of course more new clothes. Her day was coming to an end at the village. It was only afternoon but she would need to have lunch and then return to the castle for her shift of wandering the halls, looking for evil or whatever they were supposed to be doing. She supposed she should really pay more attention but she just couldn’t really bring herself to care too much.
Paris made her way into the three broomsticks. There were students every where for it was their weekend at the village too and Paris was there to keep an eye on them, be around just in case of danger but of course she could not heard them all. No, she just went shop to shop, certain she would find someone if they were in trouble and in the meantime why not do some shopping to fit in? She would of course ditch her things if there was a serious need to but that was only because she loved her job, it would have nothing to do with the welfare of the student.
Paris sat herself at a table. It was close enough to the fire to feel the warmth of its glow, but far enough away that she would not be leaving with a red face. She was comfortable and it was one of her more favoured spots.
Piles of bags were pushed under her table so none of the students or other patrons of the bar would step on any of her new things and she started to read over the menu. Pub food. Not the best but it was sure as heck something she’d missed while she’d been gone. They just didn’t have the same sort of thing in Japan, though they did have vending machines with women’s dirty underwear in. That, she thought, was more than strange.

Masin was running from Casey.
Now, it wasn't a normal thing to see Masin fleeing from someone, but as soon as she saw Casey round the corner she suddenly felt her heart quicken and her feet follow suit as she picked up the pace until she had successfully dodged him by entering the three broomsticks. She leaned against the wall, panting for a moment before seeing he and his friend turn toward the pub. She groaned and rolled her eyes before swiftly sitting at the nearest table, her back to the door. She put her hood up and looked away from the door in time to see Professor Rose sitting before her.
"Professor!" she said slightly shocked before she let her voice lower, "Professor-erh-I'm sorry I-" really? Stuttering? This was so not like Masin. What was the matter with her? She put her hood down, straightening up to sit in her usual elegant posture. She wasn't taking Transfiguration this year, but she still knew who the Professor was, of course. "Forgive me for intruding, Professor Rose. I was in a bit of a hurry to... find a seat," the pub wasn't too crowded, but mildly considering it was a day for the kids to be there. Her excuse was laughable.

Paris had a drink brought over to her and a tab started up. It was a lot easier than having to get up and pay every time. She of course started with something gentle, just a bitterer. It's creamy goodness warmed her. She had no idea what she wanted for lunch and figured something light would be best. She had to make the walk back up to the castle and she'd paid Honeydukes a visit. She couldn't go blowing all her calories on a big lunch. She had to save those for the treats she bought for later!
Paris got a surprise when a student practically ran into her table. She looked up, a small little smirk on her mouth as she recalled how awkward it could get running into your Professor's outside of school. All the awkward not knowing what to say or how to act putting you on edge. You got all stiff and fumbled over words. Ah, there it was. Main started to muddle through words. It was amusing. Paris counted herself lucky for some lunchtime entertainment!
"Good afternoon Miss Delisle." She said with a smile. Paris didn't mind the students talking to her outside of school. She knew a few Professor's that liked to appear as negative as possible but what was the point? Students could be exceedingly amusing!
Paris glanced her eyes about the pub before bringing them to land on Masin once more. It was busy but there were a few seats here and there. Masin was a popular girl, Paris thought. Quidditch player, head girl. She more than likely had a well of friends willing to sit with her, if not boys chasing her for dates. She was very pretty and smart too so it wasn't farfetched, so the question was, what was she really doing? "Is that so? You seem to be very rushed for just a seat. Meeting someone, are we?" Perhaps she was getting ready for a date, though she seemed a little flustered for that. Paris quite enjoyed knowing what other's were up to, there was very little enjoyable entertainment at Hogwarts so where you could find it, you paid attention.

Masin chuckled nervously as her professor called her out on her lame excuse. Masin smiled awkwardly, giving on nod before glancing over her shoulder to catch a glimpse of Casey coming in the door with his friends, the usual crowd. James, Abby, all those crazy Gryffindors. Masin quickly turned back to Paris, her eyes wide for a moment. ”Okay, okay, Professor. I’m avoiding someone,” she sighed, knowing that she wouldn’t be able to keep up her façade much longer. Not with Casey in the room and not with the possibility that he could walk over at any second. ”I know that cowardice isn’t exactly the best thing to have, but I’ve got a fair share of it and I’m not ready to give it up,” she said up straight again, knowing that bad posture wasn’t a good way to sit when talking to a superior. Even when a wreck, Masin was at least proper.
Even when her life was a mess.

Paris' eyes darted to where Masin was looking before she looked back. Was she avoiding the crowd of Gryffindor's? Paris wondered what for. Avoiding someone. Well that was interesting, Paris thought. Perhaps there was a little drama going on in Masin's life right now. Maybe it was a giant game of hiding seek. Either way, Paris' interest was peeked and she wanted to know more. Perhaps she'd be able to offer advice to the Head girl. "You have to know when to run and when to stay. Running isn't always a sign of cowardice, sometimes it's the smart thing to do. There's nothing wrong with a little self-presivation every now and then." She stated with a friendly smile. Sometimes the self preservation from running was getting yourself out of trouble, sometimes it was stopping yourself from getting into trouble. Either way it was something that needed to be done sometimes. Just how had she not been a Slytherin? That was a question Paris often wondered but she had been well suited to Hufflepuff in her day, and should the Hufflepuff head-of-house ever leave or give up the position, Paris would like to think she could take on the job quite smoothly and have a somewhat good influence on her former houses current batch of students. There was a bustle about the bar as there was every Hogsmeade weekend the students were allowed to visit. "So am I right in thinking it's the Gryffindor's?" She enquired. She was not one to beat around the bush with such questions. "Or is it just one of the Gryffindor's in particular you'd like to avoid?" Now that could have been a loaded question and boy did Paris hope it was! She also hoped Masin felt the urge to spill everything that was going on but Paris knew the chances of that were slim. Who wanted to hang out with a Professor when it was not necessary and who wanted to confide in a Professor? Only those about to get into some serious trouble, she supposed and Masin did not seem like the type of girl to be getting into any sort of trouble, at least no extreme, 'seek a teacher out for help' trouble.

Professors often knew the right thing to say, at least enough to make Masin breathe a little easier. Running could be in your best interest sometimes, that was true. Those this time Masin was sure that she was making a mistake by hiding from him--but she wouldn't admit something like that. When Paris called Masin out on who she was avoiding, Masin gave a sad little nod. It was one in particular. One that she desperately wanted to turn around and look at. But no, she'd stay strong. She'd keep her eyes on the Professor. "It's... nothing serious. I'm just not really the type to focus on things other than school," and that was true. Masin also believed highly in social standing, which meant she had to keep up her best appearances. A romance between Head Boy and Head Girl? It seemed incredibly unprofessional to her, and she didn't want people to think of her that way. People would start thinking that her and Casey were using heir privileged positions to sneak around together, and she couldn't have that. Not when she worked so hard to get there. So hard to be someone respected and admired.
She feigned a smile, "perhaps I need to distract myself for a moment. How are your first years doing?" a innocent enough question.

Nothing Serious? Focus on school? Was this girl a teenager or a nun in training? Paris' eyebrow gave that tell tale sign that she didn't quite believe Masin but she wasn't going to call her out on it, as much as she would love to. Paris decided she had the time to wait Masin out and if Masin had nothing to do or say on the matter, then Paris knew she would have fun snooping a little and possibly arranging for Masin and whomever she was avoiding to be paired up for at least one lesson. That wasn't creepy, was it? It wasn't like she had a whole lot else to do with her time but 'ship students and she knew she wasn't the only one that did it, though she was possibly the only one to do it to make a student uncomfortable. She could have chuckled a little at herself. "Oh, I understand." She said with a knowing smile. Just who was it? One of the boys or one of the girls? "Just remember that there's more to life than school and more to school than just magic." Life was a learning curve, school in particular and it was more than just about lessons taught in classrooms, it was about life and lessons life could teach you by being there in the moment, by taking risks, though she understood these days risks weren't high on everyone's priority.
The subject changed and Paris let out a very brief but surprised laugh. She had not expected such a turn around. "Oh, they're fine. I don't think they're used to my lessons still. They don't quite seem to grasp the open learning technique I foster." Paris didn't believe in forcing students to stay put in a classroom to learn. She wanted the bet out of her students and she found the best way to allow that was to give them a little freedom, to let them learn how they best learn. Some students required a book, repeatedly writing everything down while she read from it. Some students required quiet practice in solitude and some found team work the answer for them, they were more confident when learning as part of a group and so Paris like to encourage every students needs in order for them best to learn, though of course there were the few lessons where she had to keep them in the classroom or take them outside as a whole, just in case of any minor emergencies, such as hair catching on fire.

More to life than school, hah. Masin new that, but boys weren't a part of that. Boys got in the way of her plans. Boys got in the way of everything. Boys were... distracting, and that wasn't okay. The more to school than magic part, however, that was intriguing. "More to school than magic? I believe that. Lots of personal growth and taking risks, right?" Masin believed that more than anything. That taking risks, in any situation other than with Casey, was always a good idea. It was better to gain life experience that way. Useful life experience.
Masin hoped Paris wouldn't mind the change of subject, but the teacher seemed okay with moving on. Masin nodded, "I can understand that. It's hard for some of us to even understand it, I'm sure," she chuckled. She didn't mind the techniques at all, but it did take some getting used to. Masin was very used to hands on experience though. Having a mother in fashion made it hard not to be open to all kinds of open ideas of learning. Her mother often used her as a model-or rather a mannequin- to hold her dresses and whatnot. "Granted, I was raised to just say 'yes' and see what happened," she chuckled.
So, why couldn't she do that with Casey? Ugh.

Personal growth and taking risks certainly made for a more interesting and enjoyable life. It was also a good idea while at Hogwarts. Things could be managed, it was, or had been, a safer environment, of course if you had a falling-out with another person, you were in a little trouble because you were forced to see them again. There was no getting away form people at Hogwarts but Paris believed that just made you confront your drama's, it gave you cause to deal with your problems and that in itself was a great life lesson. Paris nodded to Masin. Each person had their own journey through life, though Paris knew some of them were doing it flat out wrong, she couldn’t change them, not that Masin was wrong, Paris didn’t know her situation. “You could say that.” Paris wasn’t saying yes or no. It was up to Masin to make her own conclusions in life and school.
The change of conversation was fine for Paris. Like really, what else were they supposed to talk about? Paris always found it awkward running into Professors when she was a student and it was a Hogsmeade weekend. It was awkward if you made eye contact, even more awkward if you got caught up in a conversation. She supposed it was a lesson in casual small talk without making it seem as awkward as it felt but they were not peers, they were not, socially, on the same level despite Masin being a pureblood. "Is that so?" Paris smiled. "Well don't forget to exercise your right to say 'no' every now and then." Masin was a yes girl? Well that made a lot of sense, thought Paris. It was probably why she was head girl, why she was avoiding someone, she didn't want to make mummy or daddy angry. So who was it? Who was this person she was avoiding. Was it because of her parents opinions? She was pureblooded but her parents weren't any sort of supremacists, were they? Well if they were ... no, Paris put a stop to her thoughts, this was becoming less fun. If she had to think too much about it then it would be too time consuming and she didn't want to spend too much time thinking about other peoples lives, not when there were nicer things to think about, Haymitch's arse or Cass' charming smile. "Other than avoiding someone, are you doing much else with your visit to Hogsmeade?" And so continued the small talk.
@delisle sorry for the super bleh-ness, lovely.

"Don't forget to exercise your right to say 'no' every now and then." Masins eyes widened a little at that. Wasn't that the cold, hard truth? She bit her lip, nodding. As Paris went on to ask her what else she was doing with her Hogsmeade visit, Masin simply shrugged. "Oh, nothing really. I was with friends-Ethan Johnson and Cordelia? But they wanted to go chat and whatnot. They're usually pretty great about not making anyone feel third wheely but eh-" she chuckled, "sometimes couples just gotta do their thing. Especially when Ethans just been let out of the hospital, you know," Ethan in the hospital, now that was a long three weeks.
Liam had the brilliant thought that they should all be excused from homework since their best friend was in the hospital, but Masin knew why that was a bad idea. Instead they just brought the homework to Ethan, which made everyone feel a lot better. In all reality, Masin was glad for the opportunity to really help him out. To really do something important for once. Just like with Phoenix Rising.
"What about you? What mysterious things to Professors do in their spare time?" she half-joked.

Paris had never really been a third wheel but that was mostly because she didn't like hanging out with other couples. They could get very handsy and obsessive about one another and it was enough to churn Paris' stomach. She rather preferred the company of people that didn't have their partners around or better yet a party where there were plenty of people you could talk to, just circulate the room, telling tales, discovering people's stories, Paris really felt like getting out a socialising more, it wasn't really possible when you were a Professor but it was soon going to be the summer holidays and that was the Professor's time off too, not just the students!
"Shopping!" Paris smiled pointing to her bags and looking down at them. "Also keeping an eye on students and what-not, but mostly the shopping thing." She smiled. "It's not exactly exciting or gossip worthy. Perhaps I should include a secret mission next time, perhaps a visit to the ministry to discuss placing a spy at Hogwarts with the Minister for Magic." She laughed. "Sadly Professor's are very boring, we live particularly average lives." Wasn't that the truth but Paris did love her job and the students weren't so bad. Paris quite liked her students and thought she was rather lucky not to have any morons in her harder classes though that was perhaps because they got weeded out with bad grades, thank Merlin.

"Hey, there is nothing boring about shopping!" Masin added with a small giggle. Truthfully, shopping was one of the few things that really made her feel better when crazy things were happening in her life. She was raised on shopping, having a fashion designer for a mother and all. However, that also did make her rather picky when it came to that sort of thing. She wasn't exactly sure what to say next, so she turned about to see if Casey and his friends had left. They hadn't, which she should have guessed by the loud speaking coming from their table. She turned away from it quickly in order to look back at her Professor.
"Aw, well... I hate to keep you," she muttered, but her eyes were pleading for something to keep her occupied until the coast was clear...

Paris laughed a little. Shopping was an excellent release sometimes. Often it could feel like you were trapped up at the schoolboy then there was this little glimmer of hope just beyond the castle boundaries. Down the hill was the village of Hogsmeade with bars and shops! It was picturesque too so it was a beautiful place to sometimes just sit and take a breather. At Hogwarts there were always students. Everywhere. They seemed to enjoy being in places you wanted to be in alone. Paris usually didn't mind, she was quite a social person and hated too much alone time but every now and then she needed that breather and just the grounds of Hogwarts wasn't necessarily enough of an escape but Hogsmeade was. Shopping was. "Such wise words." She smiled.
Masin's words seemed to want to end their little chat, Paris couldn't blame her, but at the same time Paris got the impression she was just saying that. It could have been the awkward glancing at the same Gryffindor's that could have been the clue. Way to go, Paris, great deduction skills, she thought, mocking herself in her own mind, something that wasn't entirely unusual for the professor. "You're not keeping me, if you'd rather leave I completely understand, don't feel compelled to stay, but I was wondering if I could get your opinion on something." She said in a somewhat serious manner.

The relief on Masins face shown through very obviously as the Professor said she wanted her opinion on something. She got settled in her seat again, leaning forward on the table. "Not sure how much help I can be, but go ahead!" her excitement at having an excuse to stay was perhaps a bit juvenile, but it was better than facing Casey. It was better than facing anything, really. Plus, when did a Professor actually ask a student for advice? In a way Masin felt honored to be in that situation, not that she would really admit that.
She was a bit vain, so she wasn't entirely surprised that she was having a conversation with a professor that wasn't all about her own grades and how she could improve. They were both adults now, weren't they? So that meant they could talk as such and that was a good feeling!
